Visiting Buffalo for UB.. We came in at about 9.35pm on 12/26/24.. There are a few groups of customers but not many server. We waited for a while until Felicia came to serve us. She went all out, did her best so 5 stars for Felicia. We wanted T bone steak but it is out so we took sirloin instead. It was good according to my husband.. Cheese burger was good too. Oh ya, I had hot tea and was served with 5 slices of lemons, honey and tea bags. Felicia took initiative to serve in bigger paper cup vs the normal small tea cup.. A place to chill and relax after we got back from long drive to Toronto & Niagara Falls. I actually feel that Denny’s in Japan is much much better.. in terms of restaurant setting, quality of food & service..
We tried 3 items from the menu. Everything is damn tasty and it's perfect for a brunch date. The atmosphere is peaceful and service is excellent. Each item we ordered came up to 1500kcal so this can be a great choice to take a break from your diet. I would really love to go again!
I haven't been to Denny's in forever! This location definitely got it right last Saturday! My stepdad and I stopped in for a quick bite to eat after some early morning errands and I had to get back in bed afterwards We were immediately greeted and seated by the hostess and our server, Caroline stopped over soon after to ask for our order. They have great deals and menu prices as well as something for whatever you're in the mood for. I ordered the burger and fries with hot coffee and my stepdad ordered an omelette. It didn't take too long for our meals to arrive to the table--piping hot and so good! I didn't expect such high quality from a chain, I know I shouldn't judge... I absolutely loved the food and coffee! The fries were crispy on the outside, warm on the inside, my burger was juicy, the bun was so soft and fresh as were the lettuce, tomatoes and pickles on top. My coffee was divine! I really like the fact that you get your own carafe so you don't have to wait for a refill. I am impressed with that efficiency! The restaurant was clean and welcoming as were the staff. The time for food to come was above average and the checkout was quick. I will definitely not sleep on Dennys ever again! See you soon!
always consistent service and food at this location! pro tip, it gets pretty busy here around brunch/lunch on the weekends (30min-1hr wait) so keep that in mind, but if you go early (we went around 7:45 this time) or later you'll have no problem getting a table. absolutely kid friendly, so if you've got littles, don't hesitate to stop in (my neice loves the birthday cake pancakes and the pancake puppies).
Excellent service waitress was very friendly and attentive food was delicous we are going there again and again during our stay
We’ve been going to this islands since 2000 or so. We like the variety of food and I like the surf videos on the tv. The service is always good. It’s close to the beach so perfect for having a dinner before going home from the beach.
I showed up late on a Wednesday night after a bad day at work and sat at the bar. Taylor welcomed me and happily grabbed me a beer and some food. She was all smiles and laughter and it was such a ray of positivity and warmth. I may be traveling for work, but I really hope our paths cross again. If more people were like her, I think we would have world peace.
We stopped here last week for lunch on our way to San Diego. As in previous times, the food and service were first class. There is plenty of free parking and it is easy to access from I-5. We even had the same server we had before, James, who is friendly and attentive. Sure be we will stop again on our next trip to San Diego.
I lived in Pasadena, CA, over 20 years ago and frequented an Islands restaurant. I really liked the burgers then and often went there with friends. Since moving from Pasadena, I hadn't been to an Islands. Now living in Carlsbad, I just went to an Islands again. I was concerned that most chains from back in that era were gone or declining in popularity and that it couldn't be as good as I remembered. I didn't need to have worried. The burgers were as delicious as I remembered. I had the veggie patty option on my Bleunami burger. There was a generous amount of Bleu cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion. The burger was large and as good as I remembered they were from over 20 years ago! The fries came in a separate, generously sized plate. They were salty, crispy on the outside and creamy in the inside. They reminded me of In-N-Out fries, but thicker. Really liked them! The menu has a good selection of salads, bowls, burgers and sandwiches. It slso included a discounted selection with specially priced options. This is nice option with the economic issues going on nowadays. There was a very good crowd on Labor Day Monday. Service was friendly and quick. I'll be back and will suggest this restaurant to others!
I really like this place! The burgers are really delicious and made just right. The fries taste great too. The staff is very polite and attentive. The prices are just right for the quality of food. The environment is nice and the restaurant is tidy and clean. I definitely will love to come back on my next visit!
Great 👍 islands Restaurant. Mainly, it’s a mixture between American and Mexican foods. It’s on I5 in Carlsbad near the outlets. I usually make it a stop on my way back from San Diego. They have great burgers 🍔, salads 🥗, bar food 🍱, and fries 🍟. Thanks 🙏 to Sydney for great recommendations.
Six of us coworkers came here for lunch. 5 of us are from different states. We all ordered different things and everything was great! I ordered the Yaki which is grilled teriyaki chicken tacos with pineapples. It was amazing! Better than I had even expected! The raspberry tea was also great! We had Taylor as our waitress and she was super helpful and friendly! She definitely had a personality and was outgoing and we loved it! Great place to come with your family or to just come to the bar!
We ordered and enjoyed the island nachos, truffle fries, and fish tacos (both grilled and fried). All very delicious! Wait staff was very attentive and the happy hour menu was fantastic with some good drinks! Definitely a fun family restaurant or a nice place to grab a drink and munch on some island themed appetizers!
Denny's is a go to for our family for a quick and easy breakfast outing. Everything is always good. The waitress' are nice, and their new flooring looks great. They have a changer in the handicap stall to change your babies diapers (I know how important this is, trust me.) We ordered, and had our food super quick, there was barely a wait for our order, and we even joked that we didn't understand how they cooked it so quickly.
Friendly staff members to take my order. The order took 25 mins but it was worth the wait. The ordered the Bourbon Bacon Burger. It was juicy and the caramelized onion made the burger a little sweet. In general it was worth it.
Place was packed, it took a bit to get the food. However the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The food taste good. Maybe a little pricey.
Went for a laaaaate night meal. Service was extremely slow however the waitress was kind and apologized multiple times. Seems like they could use another employee on staff. Omelette and pancakes were delicious but the hash browns were undercooked. Dont bother with the mozz sticks theyre some of the worst ive ever had with zero cheese pull.
Food wasn't bad, kinda depends on what time you go. I went at about 3:30 pm and found the food fair price versus the overall quality and taste
Despite the restaurant being jam packed, I was seated promptly by the very kind hostess and immediately had a server at the table. Very impressive. I wish I got his name because he was awesome. Very attentive to my food allergies, made sure several times that I was satisfied, and was extremely friendly and upbeat. The side Caesar salad was good, but quite basic and definitely not worth the almost 10 dollars charged. The fries were very good as restaurant French fries go. They actually tasted homemade. The frier definitely could have used fresh oil though. The burger was bomb. I got the Kilauea burger and it was cooked to perfection. Just the right amount of heat, not as spicy as the menu made me think it might be. It was very large and filling. The dining room has a nice theme to it and was clean. Parking was tight.
Great service and typical vibe from any other location. Went with family and they have a great happy hour menu for food and drinks. Was really looking forward to the fries but they came out pretty hard, but main food was good. Was a good experience overall. Would say 8 out of 10, would go back to this location.
Good food. The service was pretty good. It was a little slow at times but friendly. If we are ever in the area I would go back. The night we went for food parking was a little challenging. Only a couple spots open.
Impromptu stop at The Islands... turned out to be a great find! We hit that sweet spot between lunch and dinner and it was pleasantly not crowded. Burgers were FANTASTIC! Big, Juicy, flavorful, and hit the spot. Service was fast and very friendly – made us feel welcome right away. Loved the relaxed island theme and atmosphere. Perfect for kicking back. The only real downside was the drink prices – they were very high, which felt a bit out of sync with the otherwise casual vibe. Looking forward to our next visit.
For me it’s the BBQ wings… it’s delicious but needed more sauce, it’s too thin to coat the whole wings. Fish taco was okay, big and thick chunk of fish, but I found it was lacking of flavor. Too ordinary. Original burger was cooked as requested, fresh veggies, I needed something in the sauce that would be enhancing and lifting the whole experience. Maybe I should try a different burger next time. Service was excellent!!
The food was great, the service was great. The condition of the building, concerning. The building itself is in dire need of some TLC. Just in the dining room, there were 3 open tiles with water dripping from the roof. The was water dripping on the floor with someone occasionally moping it up. The ladies restroom, at first glance was nice and clean. Once in the stall, more water leaking. The floors were damp. Outside, there was some damage to exterior window sashes and siding. Parking lot needs some major pot hole repair. Time has not been kind to this location. That being said, the food and service was great. If you can look past some storm damage and building neglect, you'll find a good meal and friendly faces.
Food is always great here. Service was severly lacking. Forgotten portions of order and unsanitarly placed my seasonal fruit with their hand touching the fruit. I don't know why the server does this but it's not appetizing.
We meet up for family bday celebration, we drove from the OC & the rest from SD, call the head the manager working was really accommodating so when we got there, all ten of us were able to sit down. Things were going really well until our waitress came in. It just seemed we were bothering her if we ask for something.( eye rolls, shortness in speaking, etc.) Things didn’t come out correctly, orders didn’t have extras that were asked for like avocado on my tuna sandwich , just got to a point where it wasn’t worth🤷🏻♀️
I try not to post negative reviews unless something really bothered me. While at this particular Dennys our waitress coughed constantly. I considered leaving but hate to make things awkward. I wish she'd at least worn a mask. She coughed while preparing drinks, and we heard her coughing the entire duration of our visit. I then heard her tell a customer "My husband told me to stay home" Well I wish she had!!
Coffee was good. I was there 4am on 10/29. Eggs good portion was ok. Plenty of home fries taste alittle freezer burn. All of breakfast was very very greasy and the two pcs of bacon very thin no taste and swimming in grease. Only place open but would rather wait for later morning for a better breakfast.
I used to get the bourbon chicken skillet for lunch, which I loved - Apparently they've replaced the whole piece of grilled chicken with chopped pieces of fried breaded chicken. Why would they change the recipe? The breaded chicken is awful. There was nothing wrong with it before - looks like I won't be eating here anymore.
When we were sat at our table, the surface of it was really wet and after ordering, we had to wait a crazy amount of time for our food and crazier was we got the food first than the people next to us that were sat since we got to this restaurant. My husband's coffee cup when first served, had marks of lipstick and I was halfway through my food when I found hair in my plate...
Came in with my family and a stroller for a child. We were placed in a booth on a corner and the first thing I noticed was the annoyed look from our servers face. We sat there for 10 minutes before she even came over to us and the first thing out of her mouth is you need to move. So we gathered our things and moved to another spot with out any directions from any server. We moved to a different table to bet with a voice in the distance from another server” YOU CANT SIT THERE WITH THE STROLLER”. So ultimately we left after a 20 minute fiasco. Ultimately the service and attitude from these middle aged servers are nothing better than horrible. We will never go to this establishment again and I’ll continue to sway people from dining here.
Was seated by an African American woman with long braided hair and she was incredibly rude. We did not feel welcome in the resturaunt at all and felt as though we needed to leave. She did not say hello to us, ask us if we wanted a table, simply directed us to a seat and walked away. She rudely yelled at us for our drink orders and when we did not have our orders ready 30 seconds after we sat down, she stormed off without as much as a word. When she came back she slammed our drinks down on the table and again without a word stormed off and proceeded to stare at us from behind the counter by the kitchen. Would not reccomend this location to eat at, as they not only provide bad customer service- but honestly none at all. Will not be coming back.
Food was not hot and sloppy on the plate hash brown’s undercooked and tasted like dehydrated potatoes. The restaurant was dirty very dirty half the empty tables had trash and dirty dished left on them and the floor was littered with trash .. the waitress was very pleasant and enjoyable.
I have been debating on saying this but now I just don’t care. This place is a joke! I’ve been here 3 times this past month. I’ve seen one cook where no gloves while he cooks & another bigger guy wiping sweat off his face all the time while cooking the food. I’ve seen the stomach of what appears to be one of the mangers hanging out. I’ve seen servers just sitting around when I came in for overnight, & it took them a while to get my order. My server for dinner was great, her and her coworker are a great duo which is why I gave them 3 stars instead of one.Go here if you want mediocre service on the overnight, unkept managers, and cooks who either sweating over your food or cooking with no gloves!
