Been here a few times definitely will be going here again. Great service and the food was amazing!
Fantastic place with a pretty good menu at great prices. Our severs have always been good to us from start to finish. I suggest the seafood boil, its generously sized shrimp, tasty dungeness crab, and the garlic butter sauce will wow you. I look forward to my next visit.
I had a really nice shrimp and snow crab leg boil. It came with the usuals, sausage, potatoes and corn. I got the Old Bay butter seasoning. Could have used a little more Old Bay, but I did want it mild. It was still really good. Service was excellent. They even take it out of the pot for you.
First time here. I enjoyed it👌🏼Got the snow crab legs, Shirmp and crawfish which comes in a boil bag. (Includes potatoes, corn and sausage)The seasoning I chose was their crab house Cajun. They let you pick your seasoning as well as spice level, I chose spicy. Very yummy 😋. Left feeling happy and satisfied 👏🏼
Loved it!! Was fresh seafood and hot not over seasoned ...can't wait to return...we had appetizer pick 2 hush puppies and boudin balls also seafood bread. Main meal was # 3 lobster ,crawfish, clams, sausage, red potatoes and corn on the cob...boil with old bay butter mild seasoning..also to finish off chocolate mouse cake.very decadent....so many items to pick and seasoning..our waitress was fantastic...helped with the menu and explained everything Very Well..and to the top everything off we got to sign the wall ...so cool 😎
The dining experience was truly delightful. It's wonderful when a server takes the time to explain the menu thoroughly. Such attentiveness elevates the entire meal. Delicious food combined with excellent service creates a memorable occasion. We will be returning.
Cajun seafood served on a platter, pot style. Or in a bag. Reminds me of Louisiana. Came back. It's still phenomenal. My kids aren't old enough to appreciate the seafood so it will still be too rare for us. I love putting on that bib and just digging in with my hands and making a huge mess.
A friend of mine took me out to eat here for the 1st time. It was so good that I brought her back on my Dime. The whole meal came to about $150 for the 2 of us. We did get crab legs & lobster tails. That sent the price up. I love it here & can't wait to bring my son here to eat next time.
This place is great! Don't let the negative comments sway you. We had a 6 top and we were sat quickly. The server was super sweet and attentive. Food came out fast and was delicious! I went with medium garlic butter season in a boil bag and did not disappoint. The oysters looked fresh and my party enjoyed them (they aren't my thing but it was presented well). Yeah it was a little pricey but seafood prices this far inland will be like that. Overall I will absolutely be coming back with big parties!
We came here for the first time to celebrate my birthday and everything was delicious! My daughter and I shared the snow crab legs and shrimp boil combo with 1 lb of scallops added. It comes with plenty of potatoes and corn cobs cut into smaller pieces and sausage slices. We did the mild sauce, and I am glad we did, as the medium would have been too spicy, and I even like a little spicy. There was plenty to take home and have a second meal. My husband had the chicken tender meal, and his was nicely fried and good also. Would definitely recommend this place even though it was quite pricy. But as a special dinner out, it was worth it!
So I went to the storming crab for Mother's Day in Youngstown Ohio oh my gosh don't just don't go there then we went to the storming crab in Buffalo New York yes yes please go there Even something as little as the seafood bread world's apart it's like it's too totally different... like they don't share the same TITLES this is where it's all in the management of things.... and the care and value that u want ur customers to experience.... I live in Erie so equal distance between the both of the restaurants, we tend to travel to go to different cities and restaurants were foodies what can I say... (my family is) but Youngstown STORMING CRAB will not get my money again... See yah real soon Buffalo Storming Crab lol
Food was excellent, seafood boil and some catfish had us snoozing like babies after we ate!!! Definitely check this place out!!!
I recently visited Storming Crab and had a fantastic experience. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting with country stylish, making it perfect for a casual dinner or special occasion. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The food was delicious, e.g., the grilled shrimp and beef was cooked to perfection. The portions were generous, and everything was well-seasoned, showcasing fresh ingredients. For drinks, they paired perfectly with my meal. Overall, I highly recommend Storming Crab for anyone looking for a great dining experience in Amherst/Buffalo. I'll be back!
Fair price for the amt of food, nice waitor, and good amt of space
First time crab for me. Lots of fun. Great atmosphere and spicy Cajun food. You can order different things and non spicy version. In general it is great seafood in Buffalo and suburbs. The waiter was super expert and explained everything very well listen to him to know how and what to order. I like the sausage shrimp and crab. Corn and potato was also good and filling. BUT never order as much as we did alone. It is a food to be eaten by a friend. PS get ready to touch the food so much they give you gloves and all so your shirt and hand will stay clean but your gloves will soak in gravey.
Fun place for a group or just to get some great seafood. I didn’t know this place was here but am happy that we were recently invited for a birthday dinner. The menu is mostly seafood and it seemed that the popular option was a combo plate. There were several options of combos that each came with 1 lb. Of each featured seafood/ protein mentioned plus potatoes and corn on the cob. It was plenty of food for 2, maybe even 3 people. The seafood mostly came steamed and there were choices of seasoning and also heat level. It was reminiscent of a New Orleans seafood boil, which was news to our ears. We chose combo 4, Cajun flavor, med heat, and were thrilled with our choice. The seafood was flavorful and cooked perfectly. We left stuffed from eating almost all seafood. The seasonings were very flavorful and spot on. We were very impressed and will come back soon. This is a pretty big restaurant and there are a lot of big tables. It was decorated with a lot of fishing and aquatic themes. Guests are allowed to write their name or notes around the walls which was a fun touch. The service was also amazing and they were kind enough to bring the birthday girl some ice cream.
Our entire experience was great. Our server was delightful. I would state, maybe a pinch overpriced. But no complaints. Will be back again!
Went here for my friend’s birthday and it was great! This place has a fun atmosphere with all the writing on the walls and the staff was very friendly and efficient. Quick food turnaround and an attentive waitress. Food was excellent! The medium spice was just enough for me and not too overwhelming. Overall great experience.
Liked the reviews and it was nearby, so we visited and had an amazing experience. If you’re looking for a seafood boil, this is the place! You can choose your butter flavours and the Cajun spice level. I had the Shrimp and Snw crab combo and chose Superhot and the spices left me tingling but what great flavours and a wonderful ambience. Feels and smells like you are dining on the pier right where they bring in the catch. Definitely pick hot or superhot and bring your family!
Great flavor, portions, and options. We thought it was a very fair value for the price and would totally go back. Staff are SUPER nice and attentive and the place is very clean. Definitely adding this to the rotation, I'm still dreaming about their garlic butter sauce 🤤
Very reasonably priced for great, and incredibly messy, seafood. The hush puppies were a little on the smaller side but they were cooked perfectly and packed solid flavor. I got the very spicy Cajun buttered (on the side, to dip) dinner. Crayfish, crab, shrimp, sausage, potatoes, and corn. It was all delicious. The waitress was very friendly as well and was present but not overly so.
The rolls were delightful. My oldest begged me to come here and she devoured her boil very quickly. It was a new experience for me but everyone there seemed unbothered by the standard of bib and glove wearing to eat , so i went along with it and had fun and enjoyed a good meal. Service was quick and friendly .
All my friends enjoyed their meal, I had chicken wings which were also bomb!
Fun, family friendly and laid back atmosphere. My first seafood boil and it was fantastic. Food was messy and delicious. Fresh quality seafood. Would highly recommend. Boil is good for 2 people with leftovers.
Yeah, finally after going out 6 times the past 7 days for either lunch or dinner together we finally found a place that the food was outrageous! This place was formerly known as “King Crab” on Maple Rd in Amherst. I was skeptical at first but it was somewhere new that had good reviews. The menu prices seem high but comparing the prices to other restaurants selling the same items this place was cheaper. It’s a Cajun seafood boil type place but they also have other items on the menu like what we ordered. I ordered the steak and scampi Hibachi dinner. The steak was cooked perfectly and the scampi was also cooked perfectly and not like eating rubber. Another thing, I hate Zucchini and they had Zuchini cooked with other veggies in the meal and I actually liked it😳. The Brown Spaghetti “lowmein🤔” was really good also. We were only able too eat half our plates and we were full. The complimentary garlic bread was also so good we should have ordered some extra to bring home. I don’t know if this was a freak thing as we were their around 12:30-1pm for lunch and the food hit my top list to try again🙌 Also note, our Hibachi meals were on the high end price list and there are more items to choose from that are cheaper. The place was clean and neatly decorated and the staff was friendly. I would definitely recommend giving this place to try for something new if you like seafood.
The food was outstanding. The crawfish were a little weird tasting. But overall this was the best crab place I’ve ever went to. The atmosphere was amazing. It is so well decorated. Service was the best ever, so nice and showing me deals and specials on the menu. I highly recommend people to try this, best crab place in town
Went tonight me and a friend, had a waiter named Connor aka jack harlow(he looked liked him). This young man was awesome! From the time we got there til the time we left. He went up and beyond. Was very quick, sweet. Will 10/10 request Connor next week when I go back. The staff is always great tho, food is always quick, friendly clean place! Recommend for sure. I'm a frequent flyer there. 👍🫶👏 ME AGAIN. SINCE I CSN ONLY WRITE 1 REVIEW HERE I AM. HERE NOW WITH MY CLIENT WHO HAS DISABILITIES,OUR SERVER CARLY WAS SO SWEET AND CRACKED HER CRAB LEGS FOR MY CLIENT AS SHE CUDNT DO IT GOOD WITH 1 HAND. TALKED WITH US, WAS FAST FUNNY AND SUCH A SWEET HEART. IM BIUTA APPLY HERE JUST TO HA G OUT WITH YALL ALLDAY 🤣🤣🫶 GREAT JOB THO, NEVER A COMPLAINT WHEN I COME HERE. LOVE THE FOOD, THE STAFF ROCKS!!! BEST SEAFOOD PLACE AROUND.
As a former Texan and certified Cajun I cannot recommend this place enough. My partner and I visited for an anniversary dinner, and I was greeted with the familiar setting of table paper, bag of crab legs and a bib for messy eatin’. The hush puppies and Cajun fries were just absolutely perfect and their house sauce was a deliciously savory blend of ketchup, mayo, and various spices to add to the already mouth watering course of Cajun wonders. As someone who grew up in Louisiana and Texas, this restaurant struck a strong sense of being at home and eating some damn good food. If you’re looking for heavenly Cajun-styled dining with maximum authenticity, look no further than Storming Crab!
Absolutely would recommend going! Our server Chen listened treated us with a lot of respect. I have an allergy to black pepper, and usually this is a problem at restaurants. Chen made sure I was even aware the sausage has black pepper. She went out of her way to make sure I was safe and comfortable. Thank you for your compassion and understanding. Will absolutely be returning in the future.
Me and my family came here for dinner and this was amazing!! My whole family loves the seafood and had so much fun with the waitress in the restaurant as well. All the staff was so so kind and the manager went above and beyond for us and our time here. I definitely will be back as often as possible!!
My favorite place to get crab. Originally from the west coast my favorite crab is dungeness which the stormin crab carries and it's very good. Plenty of food with their combos and everyone is always super nice and accommodating. Our server Katie was awesome! Super friendly and helped us find a combo that would work for what we wanted. Definitely recommend!
Wonderful! The food was amazing! We were seated quickly, and the service was great, we received our order quickly and all I can say is I'm ready for our next visit. I'm sorry I forgot our servers name but she was wonderful, packing my food to go very carefully and using two bags to ensure nothing would spill over. Thanks for a greattime. P.S. So just two weeks later, Hubby & I had to go back AGAIN! We ended up getting the same table and the same server who's name is Katie. She again took such good care of us, Thank you Katie!!!!
This was my first time going here and I absolutely love it. The bread they give you (it's a garlic, seafood cheesy bread) for an appetizer while you wait is SO good. In fact, it was so good that I ordered a side of it. For my meal I had a king crab leg, shrimp boil bag with corn and potatoes in a garlic sauce with mild seasoning. It was really good. My friend got the same thing with added sausage to her boil bag. I can't wait to go back!
Great food and outstanding service. The only disappointment was the lewd sexual writings in the men's room which is inappropriate for children. It needs to be scrubbed off, especially since they don't allow writing on the walls anymore. Was a cool concept, but as usual it takes a few to ruin it for the rest of us. Otherwise, it's a great place to get good quality seafood and great service.
Storming Crabs knows how to do seafood right. Juicy shrimp, tender crab, and that garlic butter sauce so good. Everything came out hot and seasoned perfectly 😍😍😍
First time here, since it was joes crab shake. The carb legs were cooked perfectly, I didn’t love the old bay seasoning, but it wasn’t awful. love the bibs, bags and buckets, it was a fun time. Price isn’t bad but it is pricey. One thing that bothered me was all the writing on everything.
Was craving a seafood boil it wanted to try a new location. Normally go to a competitor who's restaurant is not that clean. Storming crab was a very clean restaurant, clean bathroom facilities even with all the markers on the wall. Got seated immediately our drinks were given to us immediately our order was taken very promptly and asked if we had any questions. Ordered the shrimp (No head)snow crab, sausage, potatos and corn. The food was hot. Very fresh crab, perfectly cooked corn perfectly cooked potatoes. Shrimp was delicious. My only negative was the sauce that I chose (Crab House butter) was a mixture of everything. There was an off putting flavor and I believe it was the old Bay butter. It's not what I'm used to. It was just not my preference. Other than that the price was awesome. I only have another competitor to compare it to the freshness and cleanliness of the restaurant. I choose storming crab but as far as the flavor for the boil I chose the other place. However, I will repeat, visit and try a different sauce next time. Fresh and delicious! Oh and the bonus was the new tool I was introduced to that made everything so extremely easy that the other restaurant just doesn't have lol of course! I went home and purchased it beautiful tool on Amazon lol
My personal experience was okay minus having a service animal. The establishment is not use to seeing service animals and the host spoke in her native tongue with workers about the service and handler very loudly. Our server came out respectfully and waited our table professionally though. The food was decent. The dessert, on the other hand, was not good. We ordered the tiramisu, and it came out very tiny in portion and not the usual tiramisu. It tasted nothing like a tiramisu either, but that of a store brought red cake with icing.
It’s not bad, it’s not great. They were nice enough to seat us with an hour left until close. The waitress was an absolute gem. The food was ok.
I got my food. Everything was fine. Then when I got my bill, I paid with a card and then I tipped a $20 to a $103 bill But when I looked at my statement, somehow the server also charged me $20 on my card giving herself a $40 tip 20 in cash and 20 on my card. I am not happy.
It was a learning experience. While the food was tasty and our waitress was friendly, the value of the food and the price of the food did not match. Our bill was $175 for an order that was to feed three people + a pound of shrimp+ a small bowl of crusty, sticky rice, a side order of fried okra and 3 medium fountain drinks. Oh! And we were charged for extra bread. The main dish, a seafood boil, included only 8 pieces of thinly sliced sausage...for 3 people. When we spoke to the manager, she offered us 3 small boiled potatoes. Greatly disappointed in this outing. Will not return.
I use to love this place before covid. They use to have a great variety of boil bags. Seasoning use to be on point. First time back since covid. My daughter ordered the ole bay seasoning and I got Cajun butter. No flavor at all. Just tasted like butter.. if it really was butter. I actually needed salt just to flavor my bag. I understand prices went up so I’m not complaining about that. The staff was friendly. I don’t think I’ll be back again.
The oysters weren’t very appetizing—definitely not what we’re used to, especially without malt vinegar. The cocktail sauce tasted more like a cold, chunky marinara. Our waitress was nice, but the bartender/hostess wasn’t very friendly, which took away from the experience a bit. The etouffee could’ve used a better balance—either less rice or more of the flavorful base. On the bright side, the hush puppies and jalapeño poppers were delicious, and the seafood bread was a standout!t
I'm from Charlotte NC and was in Buffalo visiting family. We have a lot of options for low country boil in my area and on the coast. Storming Crab was good, not great. The clams were tiny and the crab legs weren't too bad, the shrimp was under cooked. So really not what we get on the NC coast. It was also a little weird to have an option for habachi in the same restaurant. I would say give it a try and decide yourself but for someone like me from the South it wasnt as good as we can get locally
Came here on a Saturday afternoon. It was very busy, so the service was pretty quick. I got 1lb of the headless shrimp - it tasted ok. The shrimp itself was a tad overcooked and it didn’t taste as good as a seafood boil in the South. Probably because it wasn’t a seafood boil in the South… Not sure if I’d go back, but I will say, I was full for HOURS afterwards.
Nothing wrong with it but I expected a bit more for the price. Still it was a good experience. Our server was pleasant and helpful. My kids especially enjoyed their food (gator and shrimp baskets) and loved drawing on the walls.
The waitress was confusing, asian girl who spoke english just fine but she oddly questioned every single thing i ordered and then reiterated things i never said nor heard her say. It was just odd Id like snow crab please! Waitress: what do you want on it? Me: On it? I like it cooked steamed plain with just butter on the side. Waitress: theres spices We put on them - would you like some? Me: nope, plain crab and butter on the side. Watress goes on a tangent about how some people think the spices are too hot, i assure her they arent too hot for me because im not ordering them at all. Me: thats fine, plain steamed crab is fine miss, no old bay or cajun -.steamed crab and butter on the side. Waitress: we dont do sides of butter. Me: huh? Now im seconds from walking out. Im literally getting tired and frustrated trying to order steamed snow crab and butter. At a CRAB Themed restaraunt. Named Stormin Crab! Waitress: okay a bag full of snow crab and butter then - cool! She goes on to another person seated at our table and im not done ordering. I waited a short time as she took others orders before i got her attention "id like a diet coke and an order of fried oysters as well please" and id like butter on the side - The crab came first, Lukewarm and clearly frozen for a long time, texture was almost mushy, not firm like crab is. And it was in a bag loaded with an orange liquid I was told was Butter. Butter is not orange. This was some form of butter flavored cooking oil - or butter that was bad? She explained they boiled frozen crab in a bag with butter "like you asked" (nope) It was INSANELY SALTY and butter no where to be found. The substance in the bag was probably a butter flavored frying oil or something. Wasnt good at all. The crab legs had the been frozen way too long look...almost mushy Oysters rolled up and were almost cold. They give some kind of ketchup sauce - i asked for cocktail sauce. Got maybe 2 tsp of cocktail sauce. Ate one, they were cold. GF refused to try any because they were cold My GF ordered a salad and clam chowder. Salad was ok she said, the chowder was overly salty and she didnt finish it,. Bill for us was $56.20 + tip. Weds Eve abt 6:25 pm we arrived, us and 3 other diners there. Seemed oddly prophetic how dead the place was. At dinner time Def no longer an option for us. Price was good but options while being a huge seafood menu, and some of the grafitti on every single surface but floor and ceiling mite have you explaining new funnn sounding expletives definitions or pronunciations to your little ones. The price point is fantastic, but felt like if Tops had a seafood bar.
This was my husband’s and I first time eating here. The atmosphere is great and so is the service. The food I order seafood boil was ok . I didn’t like how salty it was and those crab legs were so small and cold for some reason. The lady came to my table and said she’ll place em in the microwave 👀😑. My husband said his food was good! So if anyone orders the seafood boil eat it while it’s hot or warm before it gets too cold !
Wanted some crab so I decided to check out this place. Was the first person there. The crab was way overcooked and could barely get it out the shell. Come with "2 potatoes and 2 corn" got 2 tiny pieces of corn and one potatoe cut into 2 pieces. Got dessert. It was frozen. They reheated a new one, the bottom was very hot but was still frozen in the middle. What a waste of $50.00. The one in Erie is so much better. What a awful experience. The server was very polite, probably the only thing good about this place. Save your money and go somewhere else
Sadly disappointed for spending almost $50. SUPER SALTY - could barely taste the crab or clams over the amount of salt in the "mild seasoning". I hate to think what it would taste like with the 6 higher levels of spice would be!!! Not a good portion... although I did still rate 2 stars because the Fried Okra was good. I ordered this to treat myself. I definitely won't make that mistake again. If you like seafood like me... order from anywhere else. I'm sure it will be better!
So I’ve gotten food from here before and it wasn’t bad… however two days ago I ordered food from here for pick up… I am a bit of a way from the restaurant about 45 mins but I was really craving it… so I drove their pickup my food and left back home… once I got home I sat down and was ready to eat…. Upon opening the back it smelled sour. Like spoiled seafood. But I ignored it because I tried to say well maybe it’s the sauce. NO. The shrimp were slimey! They were literally spoiled and served to me.. I still tried to give the the benefit of the doubt but some of the crab legs were brown and mushy as well!! Needless to say I got food poisoning from it…I was super upset because i drove the distance that I did in really bad rain storms but I was craving it…i called to speak to the manager that same day they said she was unable to come to the phone she’s busy and asked for my information to return my call… never called me… i would have drove back but at this point I was just over it and like I said it was quiet a drive….I called the next day same thing … I tried again and they’re saying that she doesn’t work today…it’s just all super frustrating and annoying …disappointing .
Food was good but the service was terrible. Group of 13 of us came for dinner. Our server (named Julie) was terrible. She was becoming easily irritated with our questions and could tell with her body language, tone of voice and short answers with lack of explanation that she was not interested in serving us. Not just me but all my guests that I had invited for dinner also felt her attitude. most of us there for the first time so of course we had questions about menu. There’s a mandatory 15% service charge for large groups and I feel knowing that she didn’t put in any effort in serving us. She would also disappear for long periods of time. I would not recommend (mediocre food wasn’t worth the terrible service).
Worst SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED.
My wife and myself at Storming Crab this past weekend. The waitress was non existent, very slow. The food was so so. Wouldn't return there, and wouldn't recommend anyone going there.
Came here for king crab legs, and the crab legs were tasteless and damn near snow crab size will never come back again and sausage was not cooked all the way and when I talked to the manager, they didn’t offer to take the sausage off. The people here did not seem to care if we enjoyed our food or not. They just wanted our $122 bill to be paid. the only thing that was good was the mozzarella sticks and the soda. that’s sad, considering king crab legs are expensive and a luxury. This was not luxury by any means.
I called asked what time they were closing and was told 9:30 we get to the restaurant at 8:50 and she says it’s take out only but never said that in the phone when I asked and stated we were 20 mins away. Terrible
I ordered these crab legs that was discussing and I was very disappointed with my order I order from king crab and it was nothing like I’m use to so I m giving y’all these very bad review and till not be buying anything else from this restaurant ever again and I will let all my friends and family about my order. And when I reported my disappointment to you y’all didn’t want to refund or credit me for spending my money on this garbage
My girlfriend and I eat here at least once a month this Pastime the quality is went downhill corn was undercooked potatoes everything order to pound of snow crabs they were very small then I mentioned something to the girls about The Corn being undercooked so they brought me a couple little pieces of corn on a plate at least they could have dipped them in the seasoning sad to see so many restaurants buying cheap food to save on cost instead of just raising their prices.
This used to be my go-to spot for crab legs, but not anymore. What I got looked like it came straight from the bottom of the pot — dark, spotted, and sad. For almost $100, that’s disrespectful. When I asked, I was told the darker ones “have more meat.” No, they just have more regret. I’m never coming back.
