Great breakfast, ham and cheese omelette, home fries all covered with sausage gravy
Food was good, service was excellent and prices were reasonable
Spacious diner. Love the large menu. Food was out within 6-7 minutes! Staff was nice and our waitress even hugged somebody at the table behind us. Deserts looked homemade and it was cool that they sell their own maple syrup.
Went to breakfast with my wife usually the food and service is great this time the service was horrible I got a cup of coffee when first seated and didn't get another one until our food arrived 1 half hour later and it was cold and tasteless I had to get up and chase the waitress down to complain she didn't even seem concerned at that point I just wanted to leave the hosts asked me how my food was and when I told them all they said was I'm sorry and that was it no let me make it right nothing I don't think I want to ever return
Always great service at a decent price. Consistent food quality. Great for a family outing or a business lunch. Large seating area in the back so can accommodate big groups if needed. Breakfast and dessert are the best reasons to go. The new ownership has given the place a new facelift.
Nice restaurant. Great specials. Very diverse menu. Friendly service. Usually very quick food delivery, especially today at 2pm when they weren't busy. Everyone I've been there with has always been completely satisfied. Highly recommend this place.
Stopped in for a birthday lunch after going for a skydive this morning. This is my 80th birthday! Had a Reuben w/potato salad and iced tea. Perfect! Everyone was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. 😊
This is a great restaurant with diner style food. The restaurant is large and the decor is new. In no way is this a "dive". Very nice. Service was prompt our server was friend like in her customer approach. Food was very good and portions were plentiful. Several in our party took food home. Overall a great experience. Highly recommend.
We decided to try Amsterdam diner since we hadn't been with the new ownership. Let me tell you the food was amazing! I had the teriyaki chicken sandwich with fries, my husband had the buffalo chicken wrap along with a side of French onion soup, my daughter had a kids cheeseburger which was huge! and my son had a kids macaroni cheese which was also huge and delicious! Everything was spectacular! Because the food was so good we decided to try the rice pudding which was absolutely delicious. It's made in house and you can tell, yum! Our waitress was Renee and she was fabulous! I will definitely make sure I sit in her section when we come back! I can't wait to try something else there. If you have been considering going you need too!
Excellent food, service, generous portions and plenty of parking. Love that they serve hash browns as well as home fries. Most of the so called diners around only have home fries.
We love going to the Amsterdam diner regularly. It’s pretty standard diner fare- I really love their French onion soup and trying their specials. Breakfast is great too. Staff is friendly. Only feedback is I would love to have the full menu easily accessible online or have more of a social media that announces if they close randomly.
My brother Frank, and I went there on Sunday for breakfast. Food was ok not great. The place was packed. I got a good booth before my brother arrived. We had a good time talking about things that happened in the past and present.
We have been coming to this diner regularly for over 10 years. The food is yummy and consistent (although we come for breakfast so I can't speak to the full menu) and the staff are really nice. Please keep in mind that, like everyone else, they are impacted by the staffing shortage and rules of covid, so please be patient and anticipate a wait during peak times!
Great service, friendly staff, good food, nice size portions. You won't leave with an empty belly!!!
The service was fantastic. The food was incredible and every dish was very well made. I couldn't post pictures because we ate very fast due to hunger and time.. I would definitely come back and recommend to anyone wanting a good home cooked meal. We had the blackened grilled chicken sandwich, French fries, meatloaf dinner with mash potatoes and mushrooms gravy.
We ended up here by accident, and I'm very happy we did. The food was fantastic, the food was more like a restaurant than a diner. Our waiter was fantastic as well. Her was very polite and friendly. We will definitely return there should we get up that way again.
This diner was a great find. It was a quick stop off the thruway for a bite to eat and easy access back to the thruway. The service and food were good. I had breakfast and my husband ate lunch. The diner was clean and the atmosphere was comfortable. We will definitely stop again.
The service and atmosphere was great. The food was great and the presentation was well done. I would definitely recommend this diner to anyone. Ps the wait time between our coffee and breakfast was timed perfect.
Probably the best diner I’ve ever been to.
Entered and was surprised by the large seating capacity. Lots of seating was matched by a significant staff count. Our waiter was quite busy...fast with an excellent memory (we were a party of 14 and he was on top of every item requested by our "fussy" group). Menu is large, even for a diner. To my surprise, not one complaint was voiced by anyone in our party...a damn near impossible feat!! Good food...good place!!
I absolutely have to return every time I visit the Adirondack! My family and I are from the city and we visit the lakes at least the annually sometimes more. This particular restaurant had not only very tasty food but the staff was soooo warm and friendly. One of my daughter's accidentally spilled her apple juice and the staff was so attentive and helpful, before we could ask for extra napkins Renee was already on her way with napkins and a warm dish towel to help. Our waiter/server was also amazing, she has been in that location for about 7 years, I forgot to ask what her name was (face palm) but she was super helpful, caring, friendly and kind. Every time my family and I return...this is the place we have to eat at. I don't usually do reviews....this place deserves it.
Very polite and friendly service, waitress was on top of everything..good food and came out in a timely manner, 4* for food is, because of preference not quality(I like my sausage gravy little thicker)
Great breakfast and atmosphere.
Really feels like a comfy greasy spoon kinda joint. All super friendly.
Best roast beef au jus sandwich ive had
We love this place. Even when it is a busy time for breakfast, there is always a table available. We always go here for birthday or Mother’s Day breakfast. The food is always quick and I have NEVER had an issue with anything we’ve ordered. Top rated diner experience!
Breakfast this morning was phenomenal! Coffee was superb! Renee is a dream! And the bill?…right on point! I had two eggs over easy w/ hasbrowns and rye toast (mixed fruit jelly) Yum!!
Excellent Dinner to have Breakfast, lunch, or Dinner..Always clean friendly Service, Food variety is awesome!! Great tasting meals, along with catering to your every need. #1 Place to go !!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Great food! Great Prices
A wonderful Diner, a true slice of Amercana. Breakfast is ready! Not a thing to complain about.
I find the food usually good. Our waiter was so thoughtful while we were starting to say Grace, he joined in with us! God bless him! I've never seen this happen before
This place is busy for a reason. There's great food, great service, and a spacious clean dining area. They were very accommodating and friendly.
went there for Valentines day. we both had breakfast- we were seated right away, and our food was very prompt a day delicious.
My girlfriend and I went there after going to a small antique show, sort of close by. I had an Eggs Benedict, and my girlfriend had Biscuits with sausage gravy. Both were very good. I was going to take a dessert home, (they looked really nice), but I kind of forgot to. Maybe the next time that we're there??? (Also, I'm not sure but I think that they close at 2pm on Saturday.)
Great experience. Food was good. Waitress was great. Im not from here. If I was, I'd definitely be back.
The food was good. However, this review is about the kind people that work there. My wife's driver's license fell out of her wallet and ended up "lost' in a tiny crack between the booth seat and wall. After the staff took apart the booth seat and with the help of a big spatula the licence was recovered. The kindness and effort of the staff is truly appreciated!
I had got my order to go and in 10 minutes my order was complete. I ordered pancakes for lunch with bacon and mozzarella sticks I enjoyed my meal it was delicious. If you like eating breakfast for lunch like I do go get yourself some pancakes at the Amsterdam diner or even maybe get yourself some scrambled eggs with bacon and a toasted bagel on the side make a sandwich out of it!! So good i recommend.
"Mommy, I want that!" Came in for breakfast around 9:30AM, diner was slightly busy but had plenty of room left inside for me to be seated immediately. Ended up ordering a decaf coffee, the Belgium Waffle with Strawberries and Whipped Cream, and a Build Your Own Omelette with Onions, Peppers, and Cheddar Cheese. Coming to just over $30 before tip. The coffee was weirdly strong for decaf, a very dark roasted bean, but since I didn't get the jitters later I know it was in fact decaf and not just regular. However that darkness helped as the waffle was sweet central, with sweet strawberries, the massive amount of whipped cream, and syrup on top of it all. Quite the thick waffle as it absorbed all those flavors and toppings, and still had room to remain intact and stand out in texture. The omelette was no slouch either, coming with toast of your choice (I went with wheat), and either hash browns or home fries. (I got the hash browns) The eggs was nice and fluffy, jam packed with the add-ins I selected, the toast was buttered right to the edge, and the hash browns were crunchy, savory, but not overly salted. I really enjoyed this breakfast, and you could tell as I devoured it all in just 10 or so minutes. Delicious. Amusingly I had a mother and her child sitting in the booth across from me, and the kid decided I would be his entertainment for the morning. Watching me play on my phone, pointing out to his mother my business attire, and asking his mom about my waffle. A very real dinner experience, harkening back to the days when I use to go out with my own family for breakfast. Overall this was a great breakfast experience, from the service to the food and even to the atmosphere. Would totally come back for breakfast again.

Big party seated with hardly any wait. Our waitress was amazing (wish I caught her name). The food was amazing! I had the patty melt - sooo good! And the sweet potato fries - yum! Highly recommend

Never had a bad experience here with food & drink, hygiene, staff or atmosphere. It's a nice diner for a quick stop belly full deal.
The food is very good. Far better food and atmosphere than the previous restaurant in this same location. DO NOT get it confused with the previous restaurant. Four stars just because I think the prices are quite high for a diner in the area. They are packed on Sundays but always have adequate seating.
I've been going here for years, back when it was Olympic Diner. The new owners pretty much kept it the same. Breakfast is always nice here on a Sunday morning. Kitchen staff usually has food out in a timely manner, and I've only had to return one meal in more than 2 dozen visits. The wait staff is nice and friendly for the most part.
Food was delivered very fast. Location was simply decorated. Salads were very large, burger was good, but needed some salt. Fries were good.
I frequent this establishment for breakfast. The staff is overly friendly and always go out of their way for customers new or seasoned. I have only ever had one issue with the food and it was fixed promptly. Some reviews may state that certain items weren’t to their liking but that is not because of the quality. Not everyone is a fan of every recipe but at the same time it’s what makes an establishment unique. With plenty of seating there is hardly ever a wait to be seated. Prices are fair and portions are great. While they don’t get the coveted 5 star they are certainly noteworthy and come in at a 4.25
The food was ok. It was a decent quick meal. The staff was good to deal with and our waiter was very friendly. The menu doesn't explain what comes with a lot of the sandwiches so you would have to ask what many things are to even know if you would be interested in trying it.
The food is delicious, I ordered a plate of spaghetti earlier today and it was really good. The waiters are nice, and customer service is usually pretty quick although I have never been there on there busy days. The place smells a little weird but it could just be because the restaurant is old or something. But overall I would suggest eating here.
A lot of breakfast options, solid volume of food, but also great flavors and well cooked. You aren't trading quality for the quantity. Staff are always friendly, sincere, and attentive. Several have stayed on through changes of ownership (more on this below). This spot had changed hands with some frequency in its recent history and suffers from lack of visual updates. It is not in bad shape by any means it simply looks dated in the style of 80s to (early) 90s diners. Still, it is well kept, roomy and comfortable. They might increase younger clientele with updated style and expanded hours, but I'm not certain. Regardless the breakfast menu does not need attention; exemplar of diner breakfast food!
Clean atmosphere, great waitress staff, food was good and coffee was great! If you are in the area and want more of a home cooked food, rather than fast food this is a good stop! We had the breakfast and after ordering was served up in about 10 minutes of goodness! Yum... menu food prices is in the mid range, well worth for the quality food and home cooking!
The food is very good. The service is usually great. Unfortunately, my neighbors and I had a bad experience very recently with a waitress who was unfriendly, essentially lied to us about the available soups (there were none according to her) and vegetables (again none available). The manager noticed our displeasure after we received our entrees. He had already sent the waitress home, apologized and comped us some desserts which we got to-go. Decent management saved the experience and we'll be back (praying that that particular waitress has long since been fired).
Very good food. My burger was one of the best ones I've had. Busy place. Friendly staff which is always a plus. Nice family place and clearly very popular. If you're in the area, stop. You won't be disappointed.
I never cared too much for this place the first 4-5 times I have gone there. Today was different, convenient because they were open, but my Belgian Waffle was on point, and my Mate got a Philly Cheese Steak quasadilla ( spelling ) he enjoyed.
Service is wonderful. Our server was extremely busy but super friendly and didn't miss a thing. The host was just as busy but constantly clearing tables and bringing drinks to the table. Great service guys! Keep it up. Food was good and came out in a timely manner. We will be back.
Food came quick and was alright. Server came across as a little rude, but could be she was overwhelmed with a lot of customers- others of our party noticed it as well, so kind of a put off. I don't think this would be a place we would frequent, but seems to be popular.
Nice place. The food is ok, nothing special, staff were very attentive and friendly. Everything is nice and clean, even the bathroom.
Standard classic diner vibe and menu, which is good. Food was ok, the omelette needed a hefty dose of salt. Friendly service. The absolute standout though is the peanut butter chocolate pie. That alone bumped up the food from mid to good. Also I don't know what people are talking about dinner, they close at 3pm lol
Stopped in for a quick bite while I was running some errands in Amsterdam. It's a nice size diner and it's wide open and bright. I was seated right away and my waiter came right over to my table. I ordered a BLT. It came out pretty quickly. The sandwich was fine but nothing spectacular. You can tell when a sandwich has been made with love and although there was nothing wrong with it, you can tell it was just thrown together. Half the bacon was falling off the bread when it was served to me. It tasted good but it just wasn't anything to write home about. Overall a decent spot for breakfast and lunch.
I might sound like a hypocrite, since I keep coming back to this place, but that is mainly due to its decent breakfast, convenient location, and relatively fast/friendly service. However, for me th…

Well. Tried it again. Would think third time, third owners would be the charm but not so much. Food was mediocre, coffee mediocre, and ordered a cinnamon bun that was a sorry excuse for a cinnamon bun. Someone bought some cinnamon bread and put cheap icing on it. Was not impressed. Our waitress was attentive and lady at the counter was friendly as well which is the only reason the place doesn't get two stars. It was also pretty expensive for a breakfast spot compared to other local breakfast places with better food options.
It is the only place in town, aside from fast food, to grab breakfast on a Sunday morning. The food is mediocre, the atmosphere outdated, the staff adequate at best, but it is clean and any local will tell you it is a good place to catch up with old friends. Prices have gone up too so look at the menu before ordering your usual. Breakfast for 3, with tip, was over $70.
Food was " OK ". Hollandaise sauce on eggs Benedict , not so good. Left a lot to be desired. No one seemed to care about customers experience. Waitress ,nor owner, even asked how my meal was. Baisicly pay and get out. Better places to eat in amsterdam.
One of the few places to get breakfast in amsterdam. Expect it to be busy on the weekends in the morning.
Came there in the morning with a good friend. The food was okay, relatively cheap but it's a good place to go in the morning and get full. Not the best diner I've been to but by no means bad.
Great service for starters. The place is enormous so bring your baseball team. Had 2 eggs Benedict, home fries and sausage and biscuits. Sausage and gravy along with hollandaise sauce seemed to\nbe…
Not their best night on my visit. My dish was nothing special. Companion's soup had some sort of foreign object in it. Head cook was appropriately appalled and tried to make it right with companion. Menu fairly diverse; given the sincerity of the cook, it might be worth a second chance.
This place is a dump. Ordered and never got our soup before the meal, had to ask them to it again. Their burgers are cooked on the same burners they cook fish, one of the group order a burger and it legit tasted like fish (they are allergic to fish) so they couldn't eat it. I most certainly will never return here or ever recommend it at all. In fact I will advise people to avoid it if asked. D.U.M.P.
Food was okay. We ordered a few different things but the chicken parm. Came out warm only. You could tell its been sitting for awhile and also the Mac N Cheese came out warm. Took about 10 minutes to get asked what we want to drink when we got there. * Was not busy*
The service was great but the coffee was not fresh. Normally I only use 2 creamers, at this location I needed 6 to make to make it drinkable. Also my wife's coffee cup had lip stick marks on it when the coffee arrived at the table.
This diner is the only game in town in Amsterdam. That being said the lack of competition from another diner means there is limited substitution option for anyone that has dietary requests. The server was nive but not helpful when it came to suggesting a substitution for my order which was disappointing. There also wasn't a children's menu or placemat and crayon(s). The menu prices are comparable to what is expected at a diner.
Used to go here a lot with my elderly neighbor. Have not gone in years as the food is horribly bland and unappetizing.

I had breakfast there and the sausage was rotten & rancid the server failed to acknowledge the problem the worst server ever the only thing that saved my experience was the lady busting tables came…
Terrible service. Gave me a huge attitude for not liking an iced coffee that looked like iced tea! Terrible food! Ordered a Philly and it was dry and mostly bread! Husband ordered a breakfast platter and his sausage was not even cooked. They didn’t even offer to take a penny off the bill for it! Terrible attitudes!! Will never go there ever again!! Such a waste of my money!! Extremely displeased!!!
The sodas taste like mold as if they didn't change the box in weeks I got a turkey burger which was just a bun and Patty no lettuce no tomatoes no onions just cheese pickles and coleslaw but it didn't even say that on the menu you see turkey burger you're going to think that you're going to get a burger with all the fixes I couldn't even eat it woke up the next morning and my stomach still hurts from eating at this place the waitress we got was very kind very nice I wish I got her name but you can tell her manager had a problem when we noticed that there was a problem with our food and she had an attitude don't have an attitude just do better that was our first time being there and the food was horrible it's a hole in the wall diner for a reason. It's probably the only diner in Amsterdam but still they should do better
Waiter was rushing and wouldn't listen to what we said. He would drop off food and leave very fast without asking if we needed anything multiple time. Food made us sick to our stomach afterward. Would not go back.
I’ve never had a less pleasant experience at a diner for breakfast. They sat us at our table and we waited to even get a glass of water for over ten minutes, the breakfast was high priced & did not deliver. The pancakes were paper thin and crunchy, the home fries were CANNED potatoes, and the sausage gravy and biscuit was not terrible. I love Diner breakfast but this place is unapologetically sub standard. If you want to over pay for a nasty meal this is your place! If you want a good meal I’d go elsewhere.
Nothing against the people that work there but whomever orders the food would benefit from looking into better options. Ordered biscuits and gravy and it tastes like dog food. Bacon was burnt horribly. Food was just dry and not good. Won't be going back.
Food is bland. The breakfast sausage is like eating bland pork matter. There's nothing flavorful about this food. I've always had a problem with this place and because everybody is sychophantic and does not want to cause a problem they won't say anything but, there's an unbelievable amount of room for improvement. I called to complain and was told that no one else complains and that eggs are bland unless you put salt on them which they never gave me. So, the customer service just does not there. $27 down the drain. Simply avoid. I couldn't even eat it, I threw it out.
So I have a medical alert service dog. Upon walking in I was screamed at by the employee pictured who said that my service dog needed an id or vest. I told her that according to the ada, there were two questions she could ask. I answered those two questions. I repeatedly tried to show her the ada law. She refused to look and ultimately refused service. Do not eat here if you are disabled or if you support the disabled community.
Ordered a chef salad and went to take a bite and had Handy plastic wrap in my salad! Told the very friendly waitress...She took it to the manager, he took it to the back and never even came over to our table to say anything! Very unprofessional in my book , The waitress took it off my bill. Pay close attention if you get a salad! At check out .. person on the phone talking while waiting on us , they didnt say a word to us .. not even a thank you, They have lost our business.
We were there for breakfast we had the fattest omelets ham and cheese no ham and the toast was bread not toast. Our waitress never came back to check how our meal was .It was awful. Paid $6 for a cold slice of ham deli style. Won't be back.
I had avoided the Amsterdam Diner for a long time due to a disappointing previous experience. However, I decided to give it another chance. Unfortunately, my hopes were dashed. The food was mushy, bland, and had large burnt bits. The service was also lackluster, as no one asked us how our meal was and gave us no customer service whatsoever. When we requested hot sauce, one server gave us attitude, rolled her eyes, and then handed us a bottle with only three drops left in it. The only bright spot was the friendly woman who seated us. I would not recommend this diner to anyone looking for a satisfying meal or a pleasant dining experience.
Mac and cheese tasted like baby food/mashed potatoes. I couldn't eat it and they still charged 15+ for the bowl. The couple behind us ordered the same thing and they also had the same complaint. We won't be back. Feeling ripped off.
Do yourself a favor and go get a cheeseburger from McDonald’s or Burger King. It has more flavor. The kitchen is absolutely deplorable smells of weed and cigarettes permeate out of it. The health department needs to get over here immediately.
I will not be returning to this place. The owners are absolutely horrible and out of touch with reality when I presented them with an issue, they told me it was my fault. They blame me never tried to fix it and did not take any kind of accountability.
This place is horrible. Avoid it do not go there. Go down the street get fast food unfortunately it’s the only diner in the area so that that’s the only reason they survive. It won’t be open for much longer though.
I ordered a sea food platter tasted like everything was fried all together onion rings included .my with git a rubin with sweet potato fries her fries tasted like scallops and she ordered no seafood
