I first fell in love with First Capital Poke Bar a few years ago, when I happened upon this restaurant when I returned home from a trip to Hawaii. The authenticity, the freshness, the flavor...no other restaurant in the area compares. The owner and executive chef Max has found his niche and excels in every dish he puts on the menu. This restaurant has become a regular place for me due to the consistency of how scrumptious the food is. As much as I adore the different poke bowls, I am in love with the ramen dishes. First Capital is EASILY the best ramen spot in Kingston. I would also like to shed some light on the immensely incredible 7-course tasting menu that Max successfully produced this past month in October. Max created an interactive dining experience with footage shot in Japan, of how to fish for and prepare the Japanese delicacy of flying fish. I was lucky enough to attend this dining experience and cannot say enough wonderful things about it. Each dish was carefully curated with what elements where found on the plate, the flavor profile of each item and arguably, every dish that followed was better than the previous one. Max and First Capital Poke Bar are such a blessing to have here in Kingston. Max is one of the best chefs we have in the area, no contest. If you have yet to stop in, please take this as your sign to do so. You will not be disappointed.
A hidden gem in Kingston with Poke bowls,Ramen, Bao buns and so much more. You can taste the love and the freshness of the well served food here. They also have special event Izakaya service a couple of times a month. We will be back!
A hidden gem 💎! Food was top tier! I’m vegan and my kid is vegetarian. We had a wonderful meal and will be back ! Every single week! I’ve walked all around uptown and never thought of going in here because I thought it was a BAR!
Amazing variety of poke ramen and Asian snack foods, almost everything can be made vegan and their selection of toppings at the poke bar is perfect for everyone of different tastes. They have both vegan seitan and tofu, but with so many toppings it's not even needed. Very reasonably priced and always fast and delicious
The vegan bowl was delicious...it was sort of a tofu bibimbap. And the portion size was pretty substantial! Highly recommend.
So fresh and delicious, every single time. Build your own bowl is my go to- the pineapple miso on tuna and crab? Perfection. But my favorite? Hands down the Ramen. The tonkotsu broth is absolutely delicious. The eggs cooked perfectly every time. The bowls are so generously sized. Go down, grab a sake, & have a bowl. If you're lucky enough to arrive when they have the little Portuguese donuts, grab some of those too- you will not be disappointed, I promise.
Two times I had ramen there and both good experiences. Ramen is thick and very tasty, portion quote large and great ingredients. Seems to be worked to the detail. Highly recommend and will return- both for delivery and to stay and sit on a cute outside table (wish there were more and wish inside tables was a bit more cozy to dine in). Overall great-
My friend recommended the musubi and onigiri here, and I can wholeheartedly pass that recommendation along!! Of the varieties I tried, the spam and egg musubi was my favorite — think musubi breakfast sandwich vibes. Something about warm rice is just the most satisfying thing, and they make it to order so it’s v fresh!
Loved First Capital Poke Bar! Very good vibes at this little Poke Shop in Kingston. The Great: more toppings and options than usual, with Japanese and Korean elements that aren't typical in poke bowl establishments yet to my experience. Unlimited options for toppings BUT they charge 1$ for the Seaweed Salad (which most places give for free). The Poke Master 🤣Daniel was awesome and had great vibes as well, tolerated my questions and comments with good energy, which I appreciate. The portion of rice was a little smaller than I'm used to, but still plenty and I'm completely full after eating my bowl. The scoop size they use seems a little smaller than other establishments, my guess would be it's be a 2oz scoop instead of 3, HOWEVER a bowl starts at 10 and each scoop is 3$ so a two-scoop bowl is the same price as a a regular bowl elsewhere. Would have liked a little more protein but these are expensive & fine ingredients, making a profit after food costs isn't easy. Lastly id like to compliment the care for presentation, each ingredient was carefully placed in my bowl and it came out beautiful, definitely a touch that many pokebowl restaurants don't always have, so I appreciated the effort. First, we eat with our eyes. All in all a great experience and I'm sure I'll go back again some time. Thanks First Capital! Lastly, I've
Small poke bar in the heart of Kingston with ramen as well. I got a standard bowl and it tasted fresh. Seating is a little tight but it wasn’t crowded enough to be a large issue. Didn’t try the ramen but that looked good as well. Staff was friendly. Miso soup was good as well! Pop in if you want some fresh lunch.
Great experience at First Capital Poke Bar. Fresh ingredients, friendly employees, generous portions and a great selection of toppings. Built my own bowl and this thing was massive and delicious. Will definitely return next time I'm in Kingston.
I love this place! I generally order one of the poke bowls and the pork bao buns! Edit: yes I definitely need to try the ramen! Also need to visit for weeb Wednesdays and one piece days; just nervous as I’m definitely newer to anime.
Delish food with items that have price points for everyone (rice seaweed triangle items, apps, and then higher-priced poke bowls). The octopus balls had great consistency and flavor. Good non alcohol beverage selection. The Pay it forward option looked good too, to make sure neighborhood people in need get to enjoy the food too. We'll go back!
OUTSTANDING POKE+! This is not/not your normal poke restaurant. My wife and I have eaten at dozens of poke restaurants throughout New Hampshire, Mass, Hawaii, and Florida. First Capital Poke Bar was recommended to us by several friends and a very well-respected restaurant owner in Kingston. My wife and I ate dinner here on 30 Dec 2023. The atmosphere was clean and there were plenty of seats in the dining area. The service was very friendly and fast. However, as I said above, this is NOT your normal poke place. The ingredients listed in the burritos, bowls, and ramen soup dishes are so far superior to the any of the run-of-the-mill poke places. In fact, there appeared to be about a dozen ingredients at least for every dish. The selection of ingredients bore out in the tremendous flavor of both the burrito and the bowl we had that night. We also had an order of the Kalua pork buns and they did not disappoint. We will be back. If you like poke, this place is an absolute MUST!
Oh my goodness we don’t deserve this place. Delicious entrees, sleek environment, wonderful staff! What more could you want? Mocha? Japanese drinks? Ramen? It’s all there. The owner, Max is super involved in the business and his conscientious dedication to his craft is apparent in every aspect of this business down to the to-go packaging. Definitely a Kingston staple.

A good value for the quality of ingredients. I'm always happy to buy a snack or a meal from FCPB. So far I haven't been disappointed by anything except the grab-n-go musubis; those I'd recommend ordering a fresh one be made.
I have a pretty insane poke bowl hyperfixation and First Capital Poke Bar is amazing every single time. I usually do a BYOB and it’s genuinely so delicious. My sister also has Celiac Disease and I highly suggest coming here if you can’t eat gluten, they categorize everything on their BYOB menu for that and there’s still many options for those who can’t eat gluten, which isn’t something you see a lot. I have a texture issue so I typically order crab sticks (not gf) instead of the chunks of fish. Not that the fish isn’t just as yummy but the texture really does bother me, if you have some similar issues i definitely would suggest trying the crab sticks or maybe shrimp tempura in your bowl if you can. I used to not be a huge poke fan because of the texture until I realized I could literally just change the protein and now I’m a fangirl. For prices, poke in general is a more expensive meal, but i’d say First Capital Poke Bar is definitely worth it for the price. Looking from an outside perspective, $20+ for a bowl may seem expensive but for the quality and quantity I fully believe this is a well rounded price that is more than worth it to me! Especially as someone who has tried so many different poke restaurants, this is a very good place to visit and eat at!

I recently ordered some poke and takoyaki from here. First of all, they were both delicious. But beyond that, the presentation was beautiful for both. I’ve never seen a restaurant that cares so much, even when it comes to delivery
Bit of a disappointing poke bowl compared to other places. Price point for a single small scoop of protein is not worth what they’re charging ($14). Salmon was not as fresh as other places I’ve had. Bowl was about 60% rice. Also watched as the person making my bowl take a cube of salmon that fell on the containers and add it into my bowl. this spot is fine if you’re looking for something to eat and nothing else in the area appeals to you.

I want to say that the food I've gotten here is really good and everything I've had is fresh. However, when doing a pickup order online, the BYOBs I ordered were missing ingredients (including some that cost extra), and many of the requested ingredients were confused between our two bowls. My partner's bowl was dry; it had no sauces/condiments at all despite him ordering two. At about $17 per poké bowl, it's disappointing...I don't think we'll do pickup orders here anymore.

I wanted to like this place. Popped in for the Grab and Go that was promoted to find they had none left, but they offered to make what I wanted fresh. Cool. Was not informed of the “fresh” price hike until after I paid. Expected $7, was closer to $10. Got home and ate the most bland Onigiri I’ve ever had. Hardly anything in it. Pricey bit of rice and seaweed. Before I finished unwrapping the Musubi, I found a hair in it. At least it was fresh, right?
