Had a really nice meal here last night. Server was really nice. Cocktails and food were great. We really loved all the sauces used in the dishes. And the Flan/tres leches desserts at the end of our meal were delicious! You can tell the kitchen puts a lot of thought into the menu.
Amazing food - great service. no notes 10/10. Staff was lovely, food was fantastic. You will see me again!!!
Food was delicious, had steaks, they were perfectly made, loved the sauce it was presented on it. Loved everything ❤️
This place has Delicious food, many choices, good pricing, and beautiful ambiance. Service was also good, the waiters were helpful to explain us each dish. We were 5 people and we all left happy. We'll be back! Thank you
Our family had such a wonderful dining experience at Mayahuel! The appetizer (shrimp/avocado) was spectacular and the entree (octopus) so yummy as well. I enjoyed my cocktail (with passion fruit). I loved the interior design and atmosphere. Service was wonderful too. A great visit all around. What a gem. I will be back soon!
Wonderfully surprised at the beautiful atmosphere, with outstanding, knowledgeable service, by Angelique, and high quality, gorgeously plated food. We came here with a groupon, but will definitely be back as regulars. Service was amazing and knowledge with great reccomendations . Creative, unique cocktails Luis-absolutely delicious! Delicious, fresh food! Will be back to try everything on menu!
We stumbled on Mayahuel after our first choice was closed and were glad we did. This family-run Mexican spot in Astoria focuses on northern and coastal flavors, with an emphasis on seafood. It was our first visit and the service stood out—friendly, attentive, and genuinely accommodating. Appetizer: We shared the Camarones Zarandeados. The prawns were cooked perfectly and the sauce—with guajillo butter and mole oil—lifted every bite; I found myself trying (and failing) to scoop up every last drop. Mains: The Pulpo Encacahuatado was flavorful, slightly spicy, and incredibly tender—my friend said it was the best octopus he’s ever had. The Carne Asada was also excellent, with a tender, well-textured steak. Dessert: We followed an owner’s recommendation and chose the flan. It struck the perfect balance of firmness and sweetness, finished with crunchy cacao bits that made it irresistible. A small cultural note: in Mexican tradition, Mayahuel is associated with nourishment and transformation. Overall a warm, delicious find—definitely worth a visit.
Harolyn was amazing! Very nice server and helped with all of our questions. We had the guacamole & steak for brunch. The guacamole was good, the chimichurri sauce was red & different but so good!! We had the unlimited drinks- the margaritas were fantastic & the mimosas & red sangrias were good. Thank you for your hospitality.
I loved this place, a different type of Mexican food but it remains delicious! I went with my brother for the first time and it is definitely a place to go with friends, family or as a couple, good music and zero noise! I will definitely try different dishes again. Happy hour is also worth it!
I dined here last night for the first time and it did not disappoint. I would make a reservation as it does get packed. I had the steak nachos, the gorditas, and the baja fish tacos. Everything was delicious, FRESH, and flavorful. I LOVE that the onions were chopped fresh, you don't really see that everywhere you go. The guac on the nachos was amazing just look at that color. The gordita was delicious as well, very flavorful and that cheese, so good! I loved the cilantro they added it gave the gordita extra flavor. The service was good the only downside is that there was one waiter so it took a little longer to pay and request drinks but it was packed so we were understanding. Other than that this place was exceptional. I will definitely be returning.
Great experience here. We were a large party of 11 and we came for a Saturday brunch to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday. The service was great. Everything was quick and efficient considering we were a large party, but we didn’t feel rushed in any way. Our server Ben was very patient (dealing with some intoxicated guests in our party) and he deserved his 20% tip. Food was really good, reasonable prices and portion sizes. Restaurant was clean and the vibe was good. Would recommend this place for a special event or just a night out.
We had such a great time last night! The food was a surprise with its elevated simple but complex flavors. We ordered several dishes to share but honestly my favorite was the tuna tartare served with the silkiest avocado mango puree and lightly fried sweet potato chips. Highly recommend! They have happy hour which we didn't even realize till we received the bill. The drinks were really nice, you have plenty of options from the traditional to more swanky type. The staff was so friendly and our server was very attentive. It was our friend's bday and they sang and treated her to dessert. The restaurant is pretty spacious and has three different areas to sit in. It's great for large parties, they easily can slide tables together. I'm definitely going back for the tuna tartare appetizer and excited to try other dishes.
Very authentic, the fish tacos are awesome, light . The tortillas are also light and original, flavorful. Enjoy the “ Baja fish tacos very much ! Top off with their “Tres Leches - dessert! Umm! Like the waitress who waiter on us “ and you said you wasn’t very hungry !” Daniella and Tiffany were great , very helpful and informative. 👍🏽👍🏽💯🙏
I have been going to their branch for years, constantly complimenting their food and drinks to everyone I know, and I brought so many people there at this point… however, last weekend was a huge disappointment! Steak looked nothing like it usually does and it had unpleasant smell! Not sure if they changed the chef or meat source but I am not willing to try it again sadly! Portions are smaller each time as well… On the bright side, service was great and cocktails were super tasty and fresh
For starters we thought the menu was way too small for a Mexican restaurant. The two enchiladas they had both only came with chicken. We started with chips with a variety of salsas after the waitress recommended it. We can’t understand why she recommended this after she asked if we liked spicy, and we told her only if it’s light spicy. All the salsa except one were so spicy they were barely edible. The one that wasn’t spicy tasted terrible. It tasted like a green oil. What was quite weird they gave us more salsas than they did chips, and we were three people. They did give us extra chips after I asked for them. For entrees my sister and I had the enchiladas suiza. The sauce was good, but we didn’t care for the meat or the enchiladas themselves. The only saving grace was the sauce. The rice and beans it came with weren’t good. My husband had the shrimp tacos, and he thought they were good. I asked for sour cream and I specifically told the waitress we each wanted our own. She came back with one tiny serving of sour cream the size of a dime! Then I had to get up and get the waitress for more water. She should have saw the water was almost gone when our entrees arrived and immediately refilled it. We definitely won’t be back.
It’s a 1 time deal! Order was messed up! Our server Tiffany was sweet but she needs to be more focused at work and the orders. Atleast she agreed she messed up 2 of our orders. And as a courtesy she offered tequila shots . Overall good was ok . No wow factor. I have had better mexican food. Drinks were good! And its extremely noisy .. the place is cute and cozy but that reason wont be enough. They need to work on the taste and service.
