As a serious foodie I am not into frou frou food. However, Chez Zee is a Lenten pilgrim's sustaining fast. I had the broiled Salmon on mushrooms and spinach. The broth was so good that I ordered bread to clean my plate. Salmon was tender and I did not use my knife. I found three tiny bones that never entered my mouth because the salmon opened as soon as the fork touched it. Fast service with a delightful smiling Texas air. Parking is tight because fellow Texans enjoy great cuisine too. Must do Sunday Brunch because the pancakes will be dreamy. For dessert I brought home the LAST ST. PADDY'S GUINNESS CUPCAKE! The boyo was moist and I didn't need coffee. Chez Zee exemplifies the art of mighty fine cooking. Sunday is around the corner!

My (now wife) and I love this place. We first went years ago and loved the food and character of the space. We came back and it was still so great that we ended up also having our wedding rehearsal dinner here. This place holds a special place in our hearts and I hope after reading this, you will come by and try it! They regularly also have a live performer during dinner service.

Rainbow trout was like butter and the mashed potatoes were prefect with texture and flavor. Both flat iron steak and fries were slightly underdone. The fries flavor was still great. Tried 5 different desserts The sampler, the chocolate decadence, and the ginger bread pudding. All amazing! Couldn’t taste the raspberry in the chocolate cake. The ginger bread pudding was more a ginger cake with a thin glaze than a bread pudding. Still so good on both accounts. Hummus was good Music was amazing!!!

A five star experience from the moment we arrived. The atmosphere and vibes are immaculate. The menu options have no duds and no missed opportunities. Our server, Aaron, hit it out of the park, he was informative, nice, and able to handle questions and modifications in stride. The food is excellent, a dedication to quality was apparent in everything we tried. I sincerely cant wait to come back and try more of the menu.

Brunch is definitely a must go to Chez Zee for an out of this world experience. Morgan was our server and she was absolutely amazing!! You need to request her. You will not be disappointed with her service and the menu oh, and please make room for their fabulous assortment of homemade desserts.

We had a fantastic time hosting a baby shower brunch at Chez-Zee! The food was amazing and we received so many compliments about it, the service was fantastic, and the cake was delicious too (we got a Maida’s cake). I’m especially impressed on how comfortable the gallery and the buffet accommodations were for 40+ people; it was truly the perfect venue. Huge thank you to Andrea, Dava, and the entire staff for making our event so special!

Chez Zee is an old school Austin favorite and I’m glad to see it’s still here. I haven’t been here forever and came to town for 4th of July and enjoyed lunch there yesterday. They have added a private banquet building and additional outdoor seating since I was here last. There is a bubbling fountain outside and a variety of seating options. Right near the entrance is a red baby grand piano, I would love to see music here some time! Also, there is a bar with a few seats around and a pasty case. There are string lights hanging through out give a warm glow. The walls are painted a cheery yellow with artwork for sale on the walls. There looks like an addition to the side with additional seating. Since I went at lunch they had portions closed off. I ordered a mimosa and enjoyed it while trying to narrow down my option for lunch. I had the Brussels spouts to start. They were wonderfully seasoned and drizzled with balsamic. I tried the shrimp and corn bisque soup and had a small side salad. All was delish. The restaurant was never too full while I was there but I imagine it stays quite busy in the evenings. If you looking to sample an Austin original, be sure to give Chez Zee a try! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

generally pretty great. typical "american" fare with some variety - *almost* diner style but not quite. a great variety of desserts. excellent brunch. i've had many meals here and never been disappointed. mostly i order entrees (not like the pizza or sandwiches) but everything i've had here has been great. i did do a takeout order once and found the food (burger and fries) was generally better at the restaurant. but the order was as purchased and ready on time and packed well. parking can be an occasional challenge but i've never not found a spot.

The pictures looked great but unfortunately the pasta was so oily, the chicken breast were bland. The steak was chewy and gamey from the marinade and had no flavor. The kids pizza was not good either. Great cheesecake, but was so disappointed by the meal 😞.

Charming bistro with good food selections. My wife and I had the creme brulee french toast, which was tasty, though I probably wouldn't order it a second time. The major disappointment was the service. I had an Irish coffee at the start of my meal (excellent, btw), and as my wife and I were halfway done with our meals, our server asked if we wanted anything else to drink. I asked for a normal coffee - and then our server disappeared for a good 15 or 20 minutes. My wife and I had been done with our meals for some time at that point, so when our server finally returned with my coffee, I politely said, "No, I don't want it anymore. We're done. Just the check, please." Now, so far, so good, right? I know these things happen, so I wasn't offended by his disappearance. Our server, on the other hand, practically glowered at us. He departed without a sound and returned a minute later with the check, again not saying a word and looking sullen. It was as though he had personally picked and roasted the coffee beans and flown them in that morning. Go figure. Anyway, that aside, it was a decent experience.

I would classify this as a fine dining place. The French toast and eggs were really good everything else was just meh. My drink was not worth the price. I’m really indifferent about this place, it’s definitely for the older crowd.

A-OK bistro with great atmosphere and amazing service. The crème brûlée was tasty and delicious. The croissants melt in your mouth and the strawberry butter makes the whole experience better. Service was fast, attentive and helpful with questions we had as a first time diner at this restaurant. Host was polite and friendly. Only issue I had was the food, it was quite underwhelming compared to the whole ambiance. Taste was okay at best and quantity wise wasn’t so great for brunch. Not a bad place for a brunch! Parking is kinda limited but wasn’t difficult to find Prices are little more than I had expected for the food.

During our Austin stay my wife wanted to surprise me, she ordered and had Door Dash deliver a slice of Maida’s Cake which was excellent, very light and full bodied. She also ordered a slice of Tres Leches Cake which I took two bites, closed the box when my wife asked for a bite. This was the worst Tres Leches I have ever had and immediately threw it away. I’m not sure if a cream had soured or it’s the bakers own spin. Don’t order the Tres Leches cake just drive by Chez Zee and throw $12.95 + tax out your window.
