My daughter and I dropped in for a lunch in the middle of the week and this place was a good choice! The atmosphere is festive, staff are very friendly and attentive, checking in when needed, it's clean with different types of seating, and a massive patio that's open yet enclosed to keep the space at a good temperature. There was cornhole and foosball as well. We ordered the Crispy Chicken Katsu (so good!), Kids Mac & Cheese, and a few Sangrias (yum). It wasn't too crowded but that's also probably because it was the middle of the day in the middle of the week, I'm sure it gets crazy on weekends and in the evenings. Definitely a place to check out!
This was and is a hot spot for the Domain. I went in between lunch and dinner on a week day and the place was in the pre dinner buzz mode as all the servers were getting ready for a rush so they were a little distracted. Overall their menu has lots of options and many of them are shareable so if you want to get together with friends or like splitting plates with your date this is a nice spot. Bar options are many and they have some decent beers on tap so check them out and enjoy.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. The service is always stellar and the restaurant has vibe about it. Weekends are stellar with live music and a great brunch menu. I am consistently bringing my out of town guests here for the best that Austin has to offer.
Met a friend for lunch after a long conference. The weather was perfect for the patio. Our server recommended the Spicy Shrimp Crispy Rice starter. It consisted of fried rolls which were so savory and well-seasoned. The soy sauce had a sweetness that counterbalanced the saltiness of the roll with chili crunch, avocado and kimchi rice. My entre was the steak frites. It came with an arugula salad. I asked for medium well and it was still very tender. Also, cooked & seasoned very well. It didn’t need any sauce as the black truffle butter melted into the steak. I drank a Vida Verdita (green life). It was refreshing jalapeño, mint, pineapple, cilantro, & bubbly water. Had the slightest kick but well-balanced. Atmosphere is lovely until someone walks by smoking cigarettes. Maybe eat inside if that’s also a turn off for you. Overall, it’s a great place for a nice meal with friends, colleagues or your significant other.
Great food and drinks, definitely more bar atmosphere than restaurant but the ribs were fantastic. Got the fried brustle sprouts, popcorn shrimp, and the ribs. Bar might be more cramped than some of the other tables. Very cool with our dogs and super nice.
Amazing delicious food - the pork nachos are a hit with us! Celebrated my birthday here, they were kind in giving me their delicious mud pie where you can purchase chocolate on it! The staff was courteous and attentive despite the location being full on a weekend. The atmosphere is fun, a bit loud but of course it's a popular place so it's to be expected. The lighting is lovely. It's also located next to the park at The Domain. I had a great time at Culinary Dropout!
This place rocks. I came here for a birthday brunch and left a happy man with a full belly. The venue is so unique- large garage doors and a massive patio that takes up the majority of the space. There are heaters everywhere to keep the guests warm. My waiter was hilarious, extremely chill, felt like I had an old friend waiting my table. Now for the food, absolutely bomb. So so good. The appetizers were out of this world. The nachos, pigs in a blanket and whipped feta were all hits. If you’re looking for something to eat in the Domain, this is the spot. You will not be let down. Very satisfied!!
My wife and I had never been here before. After seeing a show at Cap City, we went to Culinary Dropout. We each ordered the fish and chips and it was great: light yet very crispy. Our server was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. Super atmosphere. We'll be sure to explore other items on the menu when we go back again.
Great times here! We got the brussel sprouts, banana bread french toast (chefs kiss), pub burger, smokehouse hash and prime rib sandwich. Everyone liked their food. I also like that our food came out hot and tastes fresh. Our server Karma was amazing! Brunch is till 3p so make sure to head there before then to try the banana bread French toast and hash.
My husband & I were walking in the area & decided to stop by. It was busy but still had plenty of seating ! I tried the watermelon spritz & we shared a charcuterie plate we made. It had grilled asparagus, crusty bread & deviled eggs! Everything was so fresh & tasted very good! We will be back to try the entrees soon!
Today for a late lunch my daughter, her boyfriend, his father and I came to Culinary Dropout for their first ever date. It was my first time eating there. We made reservations and then asked for an accommodation when we arrived and the hostess' made it happen for us. Our server Lydia made it such a great experience for all of us. She served us parents at one table and also waited on our kids a table away. And she went above and beyond for us, including stealthily taking pictures of our kids to document their first ever date. She also brought them a dessert to share. She helped give them a perfect core memory for life. I'm so glad we picked there for their first date. Culinary Dropout nailed it. The food was top notch. I got several sides and the wagyu pigs in a blanket, along with a few non-alcohol beverages. We will definitely come back to eat here. Great atmosphere, an area for kids or fun hearted adults to play games, multiple tvs to watch sport games, and there was a guitarist playing so well while we were there. Again, major props to Lydia. We appreciated her extra effort so much.
Fun atmosphere, great service and plenty of options for anyone in your group. The zero proof drinks were a little too sweet for me (strawberry lemonade and the watermelon flavored one). The brussel sprouts were crispy and flavorful. I had the vegan curry and it was scrumptious. My parents had the French dip and devoured it, my brother had the salmon it was beautifully cooked and flavorful. My sister enjoyed the strawberry salad. Portions were filling.
Loved everything about this spot! 😍 The location is perfect, and the atmosphere is lively, fun, and effortlessly cool. The drinks were on point 🍸, and I have to rave about the salmon—it was perfectly cooked and served over a flavorful bed of corn 🌽🔥. Service? Top tier! 👌🏾 Attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be back soon. Culinary Dropout just became one of my new Austin faves! 🙌🏾✨
Waaahoooo! We attended during happy hour and found the entire experience thoroughly delightful. The cuisine was nothing short of exquisite. The Korean Spicy Ribs, in particular, were masterfully prepared, offering a depth of flavor that was both bold and sophisticated. The Pork Belly Nachos were equally commendable, with a judicious application of cheese that allowed the richness of the pork to truly shine. The Brussels Sprouts, though not as crisp as one might ideally prefer, were nonetheless impeccably seasoned and well-executed, presenting a harmonious balance of flavors. The service throughout was exemplary; the staff were both gracious and attentive, ensuring our needs were met with efficiency and genuine warmth. The ambiance was equally enchanting — the expansive outdoor seating and the airy, open layout of the venue created an inviting atmosphere. I was particularly charmed by the open-view kitchen, which provided a captivating glimpse into the artistry of the culinary team. Moreover, the venue’s inclusion of leisure activities such as Ping Pong, Cornhole, and Foosball lent a convivial spirit to the evening, seamlessly blending elegance with a sense of playful enjoyment. In sum, it was an exceptional visit, and I eagerly anticipate the pleasure of returning.

I always get the shaved prime rib dip sandwich. It's heavenly. Beef, fontina cheese, caramelized onions on a hoagie with au jus. So delicious

I ate here a few months ago and I'm quite impressed. The food was made fresh and was exquisite. The whole ambience of establishment was impressive. I will definitely come back again
We had dinner here and really enjoyed it! A fun, lively outdoor area, great service and good food! An interesting menu with lots of variety.
Great laid back vibe. Service was very efficient. Staff handle the various aspects of operations like a well oiled machine. Tables were cleared and reset within minutes, food orders came quickly and without errors, the meal and drinks were great. Our server, Mike was amazing. Definitely deserving of recognition and appreciation. Great job Culinary Dropout!
The place seems really nice, but I haven't enjoyed the seating options on both of my visits. Getting a reservation for big parties (9 people) is necessary it seems, even on a Monday evening, which is surprising. They seem to always have big groups there, and the ones with reservations, get the good tables. The seats are very uncomfortable on most tables, so it's important to get the ones to your liking. The food was ok this time. Not as great as my first visit.... but at least I was able to get some substitutions for the sides. I'm not certain if it was offered on my other visit. I didn't like the biscuit at all the first time. This time, it was soft, but not really tasty like I thought it would be. I really love their Brussel sprouts. I would probably visit only with big groups to do shareables in the future.
This establishment offers a particular and well-designed menu focused on lighter meal options, which makes it a good choice if you are looking for something not too heavy. The dishes are thoughtfully prepared and suitable for those who prefer balanced portions. When it comes to beverages, there is a wide variety to choose from, giving customers plenty of options to complement their meal. The service is very good, with attentive staff who make sure your experience is pleasant and comfortable. Overall, it is a nice place to enjoy a relaxed meal with plenty of drink selections.
Overall, I recommend checking this place out. The Domain has tons of shops to walk around . Restaurant is well staffed but somehow it took what seemed like forever to get our order placed. Large seating area so all group sizes are welcome. Covered outdoor seating is heated. Live music during brunch on Sunday was great. Casual vibe. Food was very good. Whipped feta was my favorite. The breakfast bowl was just ok, it was bland and had no flavor. I got steak added to it and that was the only good part. The bowl needs some garlic salt or salsa or something to add life to it. Fried chicken was average, not bad and not rave worthy.
Good, but would be better if the Korean Ribeye Cap entree came with a side of white rice. It was good, but not worth $39. The roasted salmon was also ok. While the salmon was great, I didn't care for the sides. The nachos were good. Tom was a great server though. Outdoor seating was excellent, and the cushions were nice and firm - great for my back.
We came here for drinks to celebrate a friend’s birthday. If the weather is nice, sit outside. I don’t drink so I can’t comment on the drinks. They looked fun though! Go for a cocktail why waste the calories on drinks that tastes bad? I’ve had the food (a pastrami sandwich) here once. It was okay, nothing to write home about. Overall not a bad place to spend the evening. 7/10 Cocktails 🍹
Probably one of, if not the most popular restaurant in The Domain, Culinary Dropout is a delicious restaurant with a wide variety of options that cater to all tastes. The setting is great, especially if sitting outdoors and they are very accommodating to dogs if you need to bring a furry friend. Our server was very friendly and they handled the situation well when it began to rain on the outdoor section. They also have a smooth check in process where they text and call if you are on a waitlist. As for the food it was okay. We ordered a burger, fried chicken, and fish and chips. The burger was solid, although it is hard to mess that up. The fried chicken was good, lightly fried and not very greasy. It came with mashed potatoes that were average if not slightly under and some cole slaw that was unfortunately not very good. The biscuit it came with however was great, fluffy and moist. The fish and chips were alright which to be honest is not a bad thing considering fresh fish is hard to come by in Central Texas. The biggest draw to Culinary Dropout is the great setting and the vibes of the outdoor section. With solid food and great service, we recommend it to anyone in The Domain who wants a casual dinner but something a bit more versatile in a menu.

Dog friendly bar restaurant in midst of domain town center. Very busy with good casual vibe. Make a reservation to avoid wait.
Our waitress was sweet and welcoming. She went above and beyond when we told her it was our first time. It's a great place to hangout with friends and watch sports. The food was mediocre. We started with pretzel bites and cheese. Presentation was beautiful and the cheese was good. Pretzel bites were really good! The fish and chips was not so great. The fish was small and the batter was so heavy around it. It was mostly batter which I ended up removing most of it and saw the very small pieces of fish. The cole slaw was not good. No one at the table liked it. The fries and the tartar sauce were really good. Tried someone else's fried chicken and it just ok. We got a chocolate dessert and that was delicious. It made up for the ok food.
Service was great, the staff was very attentive and checks in to see if everything is going well. Water was refilled promptly. I ordered the crusty bread for appetizer, which comes with garlic oil and balsamic. Unfortunately, the bread was a bit stale and only lightly drizzled with garlic oil. It was also slightly too salty for my taste. For the main, I had the 36 hour pork ribs, which came with French fries and coleslaw. The fries were pretty standard, but the coleslaw was great, it was light, refreshing, and not overly dressed. It worked well as a palate cleanser. The ribs were very tender and fell off the bone. They had a subtle smoky flavor, and the sauce was tangy. I wasn't too big of a fan of the sauce. Portion size is massive three piece of ribs. Overall service was great. The food was not bad.
The atmosphere was amazing and the drinks were really, really good. For instance, in our group we had one Mojito, one watermelon spritz -which was incredibly good- and a drink that was explained to me as if a Margarita and a Moscow Mule had a baby called “El Matador” if you like sour drinks this one is for you 🤩. We went at around 12 PM and maybe that’s the reason why service was a little slow. We order as appetizers, the prosciutto deviled eggs, and the pretzels with provolone fondue. Presentation was excellent, but flavor was very underwhelming. After that we ordered different items: Fried chicken and buttermilk biscuit 3/5 The gravy had a weird taste to it almost sour. And we ordered it with sausage and it was a thing of smashed sausages 😕 but beautiful presentation The smokehouse hash had a very small amount of pork just to taste it and again very underwhelming flavors. 4/5 The breakfast burrito I would say 3/5 not really good Finally the turkey pastrami looked SO YUMMY AND BEAUTIFUL but nope. 3/5 So if you’re going for drinks and to have a good time, have at it. Really fun place, great drinks, great vibes, servers were super friendly and nice and I loved their fits, but food was not our favorite
I like the outdoor seating here and it is usually lively. However, the food is average. Some dishes are great (roasted salmon and fried chicken are favorites), but others feel under-seasoned or inconsistent in quality. For example, the steak frites was tough and disappointing. The fries were dry and cold. For the price point, I expected a bit more refinement and reliability. All in all, it’s a fun spot for the ambiance and drinks, but the food doesn’t always live up to the hype. I’d go again — just with adjusted expectations.
