One of the best classic American dive style bars. Great atmosphere, music playing on the juke box, pool tables, your standard beers on tap. Little patio in the back. What’s not to like.

I have never faced discrimination at a bar the way I have tonight. We asked for a pitcher and were accused of not being able to afford it. When asked what the bartender meant by that she doubled down and said we couldn’t tip for it either. Then we were refused service despite presenting a card and kicked out. Racist discriminatory bartenders that were too cowardly to justify their racist remarks. Bartender probably needs to spend more money on therapy and lexapro instead of bad tattoos. Truly a disappointing experience from an Austin native. Sorry we’re not white, but tbh I’m not surprised. Nothing new from neo Austin. Door guy was cool though.

last night was my 3rd and last time giving this place a chance. (never go by choice btw) the bar itself and the people are chill but oh my goodness the bartenders are actually the worst in austin. they move very slowly and never ONCE has one of them been kind or even remotely in a good mood. they. are. always. mad. its like they dont want to make money or something i dont get it. -bartender of 8 years

I wasn’t blown away by my experience here. The waiter was immediately rude to us and seemed like they didn’t even want to be there. Once we finally got our drinks after a long wait, they tasted watered down and the cups were filthy. A couple of my buddies had told me similar things about this place so I guess it’s a trend. Wouldn’t recommend this place when there’s so many other great bars in Austin.

Racist or what? Older lady has a heinous attitude - scanned our IDs, said there’s “something wrong” with them despite us all being 22 and every ID scanning. I went to the bar to tell my friend we had to leave, and when the bartender overheard me telling her “we have to go because they don’t want us here or they’re just racist” as the only POC in there, the bartender interrupted to tell me stop - like I can’t tell my own friend to leave? Offered to provide alternate form of ID (passport) or clarification why they wouldn’t take our IDs - stuttered with a repeated “sorry”, then the other bartender told us they wouldn’t consider our passports “with that attitude”. Hard to believe it’s not out of racism or just plain spite - everyone in here was older and white. Never gotten this sort of treatment anywhere in my life. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone - go to Barfly’s instead for better pool, drinks, and amazing service.

RACIST BAR!!!! Came with a group of friends (all 21/22). Woman immediately came up to us and told us she needed to see our IDs. Fine okay. Then she proceeds to only look at mine (Indian) and a friends (Mexican) and says they can’t take them. We asked her to scan them and she took them to the back, came back and said THEY SCAN, and then still said they had to ask us to leave…. We asked at like 20 times for the reasoning and she said she couldn’t tell us… (very peacefully might I add cause we were genuinely confused we are all legal). Then she took everyone else’s IDs and said they all scan but we still have to leave…. Something to note, this bar is ENTIRELY filled with white people. I mentioned to her if that was the reason why (because again giving us no reasoning 😭) and she starts yelling at me… Anyways if you’re of color do not recommend coming here because they are definitely racist.

if i could give them 0 stars i def would. we were in there for five mins and kicked out bc they refused our VERY REAL AND VALID IDs… We are of age but bc we are people of color, we were targeted against. never coming back here lmao awful ppl. 🤣

Ordered drinks tonight for a group of friends and got asked “where’s your purse” by the bartender serving. As a gay man, not the vibe or welcoming feeling. Would advise any of my friends (or anyone in the LGBTQ+ community) to avoid this bar. Will be sharing this experience to many.
