Avis sur Licha's Cantina Austin
Licha’s Cantina brings bold, authentic Mexican flavors in a cozy, vibrant setting. The tacos and enchiladas are packed with flavor, and the house margaritas are strong and perfectly balanced. The atmosphere feels lively but intimate great for a casual date or dinner with friends. Service is friendly and welcoming, which makes you want to stay a little longer.
This is an east side spot that’s been open for a while & serves truly delicious, authentic Mexican food. Definitely a hidden gem amongst so many new spots! Very great vibes & kind service, too.
Probably my favorite food spot in Austin! I was SO impressed with their fish dish, omg I could eat it every day! Couldn’t recommend enough.
We really enjoyed the food here. We came sort of on a whim and without a reservation on a Friday night, so we waited around 35 minutes for our table. The restaurant was very busy with large groups of people headed into the bar and sitting in the outdoor dining areas. When we were seated, we were given chips and salsa. We ordered the octopus appetizer, I got the fish tacos (pibil de pescado y camaron), and my husband got the anchiota braised pork (cochinita pibil). We were then told that they were out of the octopus, and we hurriedly ordered the seafood cocktail instead. Our entrees came out very quickly, and they were so good. I would describe the pork as a mix between a mole and Cincinnati chili, but if that puts you off, I'm probably describing it wrong. The fish was perfectly cooked. We needed extra tortillas, but our waiter got some for us quickly. The appetizer came after our food, which is understandable. I didn't like the seafood cocktail at all. It was essentially a mix of cold seafood in tomato and shrimp cocktail sauce, served with avocado and tostada shells. I found the shrimp to be especially chewy and off-putting. That being said, I think this is a somewhat traditional dish, and it's probably up to personal tastes, and if we hadn't ordered it, the food would have been perfect. The location suffered only in that it was somewhat loud, but the decorations were fun and reflective of Austin culture.
Awesome margaritas and mezclar cocktails! Love people watching outside in their patio too. Their homemade tortilla chips, complementary salsa are my faves! And so their ceviches and queso fundido with chorizo! Yum!
We’ve walked by this place so many times…and not until a friend recommended that we try it, did I end up looking at the menu. Let me be that friend for you! NOT the Tex Mex we expected and as someone that has been to CDMX multiple times, this hit the spot! Only American thing about it is the giant portion sizes! Their cocktails were delicious and I do love some infused tequila or mezcal drinks for that extra special treatment. Shot out to the Chapulin - watermelon infused mezcal perfection. We had the esquite (corn) with the bone marrow and OMG - this was the most bone marrow I have EVER been served in a restaurant. Huitlacoche quesadilla was great and the chicken mole huarache - so addictive. The birria though - this was the dish that finally made me understand people’s obsession with a good birria taco. Perfection! Our biggest learning from the visit - either bring friends or order less though. Can’t wait to be back!
Overall very good experience. We sat outside. Very sweet ambiance. Mexican corn was great as was the guacamole. Drinks were delicious as well. We weren’t super hungry. Wish I had been. Lovely place to spend an evening.
Place has warm Casita atmosphere with beautiful wood flooring, walls and ceiling. Food and drinks are fresh and amazing. No overload of condiments. Chips were crisp and tender, octopus appetizer was delicious and flavorful, taco birria was out of this world. Even drinks were good. Tamarindo was so fresh. No artificial ingredients or flavoring. Friendly service. Food did take some time to come but because it was so well crafted and crowded.
One of my favorite Latin restaurants in Austin. The watermelon mezcal drink is incredible. Everything I’ve eaten here is amazing. The atmosphere is excellent. It feels like you’re not even in Austin anymore on the back porch.
For 2-4 people, this place is an absolutely incredible time! Prices are good for the food, I didn't look around the alcohol menu much. I'd imagine it is not as great the more amount of people in your group because there are lots of smaller tables. Food was incredible Music is on the louder side, I'm not complaining, and I wouldn't bring my grandma there. Staff came in clutch on last second things we wanted, you gotta wave em down, but their response time was rapid, so it was worth it to have to be slightly assertive for the uninterrupted conversations. -QR Code menus, and upon request, physical menus -One of the women who was working called it "Mexican Soul Food" when I asked her what best describes the food they serve. I totally agree
Absolutely knocked my socks off. We sat outside and the atmosphere was great, our 2 year old was entertained by the decor and lights so we actually got a decent meal. The food was AMAZING and out waiter Jose was always there when we needed him but not pushy. Cocktails were top notch. Cant recommend enough.
From a humble but cute outside appearance to a burst of originality and creativity on the inside. We first started with the complimentary salsa that consisted of a green (avocado and jalapeno) and an orange (roasted chili). Not overly spicy with a kick on the backside. The Fundido was a rich thick cheese with a lovely caramelized bottom. The tortillas were so fresh with a great corn flavor and tender texture. The star of the dinner was the scallops served with an olive and caper sauce. The bread served with it was a fabulous vehicle for the sumptuous sauce. The scallops were tender and cooked perfectly. The TresLeches was good, but not the best weve ever had. We will definitely go back and might plan a Chistmas Holiday party there due to the chillled laid back atmosphere. The little patio is so cute!!
Quite possibly some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Let me start with the chips and salsa: the green sauce has a creamy consistency to it but is actually spicy. The red sauce is less spicy but similar consistency with a strong smoky flavor to it. It was so good, I used it with my mains as well and devoured all the sauce. Now let me get to the conchita pibil I got. The corn tortillas were super soft and warm, and served to you inside aluminum wrap to keep it warm. It comes with guacamole and pickled onions that appear house made - nothing out of a jar or can here. The stewed pork was fantastic and extremely flavorful and tender. All the individual ingredients in this dish are thoughtfully curated and made in house. By far the best Mexican I’ve had so far in Austin and highly recommend it. Shout-out to Juan, the bartender also!
Licha's Cantina is UNREAL. My favorite thing on the menu is the Suadero tacos . Service is always incredible and the kitchen is so fast. Feels like I'm on vacation whenever I'm there - love it!

Service was exceptional! Sat inside at the bar and it was about 4 pm. Good music and vibe. Food was okay. I had a hibiscus flower quesadilla so might try something more traditional next time!
The vibe was so so good. Music was amazing but a little too loud. Food was nice however, the quesadillas were too dry. Guacamole was too good. The salsa’s were great. Drinks were good too. Overall this place is nice for its vibe and hanging out with friends and we look forward to come back to do our margarita pitcher afternoon soon!

Great dinner spot for groups on East 6th. The Verduras tacos are vegan as-is, and very good! The drinks are just okay, but the overall vibe is lively.

First we were not asked if we wanted to sit outside. There was bird poop on my chair, and chance of rain. They only gave our 5 person table a 35% filled, 2 paper bag of chips. The dipping sauce was too spicy hot. I ordered enchiladas suizas cost $23, there was big chunks of chicken not shredded as described, and clumps of rice, not high quality for the price. Positive feedback: My husband did enjoy his camaron pibil tacos, cost $24 with a variety of vegetables and the 3 meats, red fish, shrimp, bacon, and corn tortillas which he didn't like. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish. Probably will not return.
