When visiting Austin for a business trip, we were staying in the area and stumbled across the happy hour here. The specials were great, so we ordered almost everything on the happy hour menu for the group and nothing disappointed. The food was not just delicious, but also an experience in many cases. We also ordered the dry aged blue fin (never had dry aged fish), which was a flavor that stays with you. Wish we had tried more, but will have to come back!
This has been one of my favorite restaurants in Austin for years, and it’s first on my list to show visitors. The food is incredible and the decorations are so cool (bonus points for all the disco balls). My most recent experience was better than I could’ve expected- every single staff member really went above and beyond to make our meal as enjoyable as possible. Apart from our incredible waiter, we also especially enjoyed Kevin at the sushi bar. Another staff member also saw me save a little bit of sauce and then brought me a bowl of it. The food was incredible as always but the group of staff here is so commendable and made the experience unforgettable.
I would like to shout out Aaron for his absolutely incredible, hospitable, professional and extremely helpful service on a very busy Saturday night. After seeing a show at The Continental we were walking to our car and the incredible dishes we saw on people's tabes made us walk directly into Lucky Robot. We asked to be seated outside and within seconds Aaron was guiding us through the entire menu. We had the edamame, spinach and shiitake dumplings, Dill-E, Hiramasa Shrimp Battle, and miso soup. I think I could come back here daily for the Shrimp Battle. It had the perfect amount of kick with the beautifully sliced jalapeños. The dumplings were delicious and the Dill-E roll was fantastic as well. Aaron's treatment of us truly made our night. His kindness had a profound effect on our meal and we truly had a wonderful time. We can't wait to return and work our way through the other rolls that have some of the coolest names I've seen! Pictured is the Dill-E. The presentation alone was extraordinary. Thank you again Aaron!
We celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary at Lucky Robot and had such a great night. Everything was amazing, the food, the drinks, and the overall vibe. We sat at the sushi bar and loved chatting with several of the sushi chefs, Joaquin and Freddy. They made the experience really fun and memorable. Our waiter was excellent too and took great care of us all evening.
We have visited Lucky Robot numerous times it is an exceptional experience every time. We love the super fresh fish and the care & knowledge for their wonderful ingredients. My favorite roll is the C-3PO. I think their omakase is the way to go sooo many courses for a great deal and their team takes the time to learn what you do and do not like so the experience is tailored to each guest.
Food was very good. The flavors were unique. We were able to try several items. The Brussels sprouts and dumplings were our favorites. We would definitely go back here next time we are in Austin.
Went here for the first time and it was delicious! Got their shiitake dumplings, the Sea 3PO roll, green tomato katsu, and the beef hot rock (which would be my last meal if I ever get the death penalty). What made the experience even better was our server, Aaron. He was kind, funny, and super attentive- he really made us feel pampered. Great atmosphere and great food, I’ll definitely be back for their happy hour. Thanks so much, Aaron and the staff at Lucky Robot!
Whatever the cost, this place is worth it. I can see how some places in Austin are total tourist traps but this is not one of them. Don't let the Instagram appeal fool you. Service was impeccable, our waiter checked in on us frequently and was very knowledgeable about the menu. The decor was detailed and very appealing. They even had a coveted swing for seating. The food was very fresh with an eclectic menu and a small but diverse cocktail menu. The pork belly bao was one of my favorites anywhere. The crispy barbacoa dumpling was absolutely delicious. The dining area isnt that large so I'd highly recommend reservations during peak hours.
Love this Austin gem on SoCo. They have incredible nonalcoholic drinks that are a pleasant surprise for those who don’t drink. I tried the bao which was woooow! The sushi is phenomenal and tastes so clean. The presentation of each dish adds such a layer of perfection to your experience. We were able to get in on a Saturday night after a 15 min wait around 8:30pm…that alone is a win in my book. I’ve been here many times but finally am writing a review hoping others who want to come do make the trip down to this spot. One thing I really love about Lucky Robot is the ambiance inside. This night we were sat in a fun spot that had a swing as the seat and we faced a huge window for top tier people watching as hundreds walked by. Lastly, the staff are outstanding and give you the upmost diligent service. I always have a great time chatting with whoever is helping me from the hostesses to the servers. All are so kind and take tons of pride in representing their incredible place of work. Always a 10/10, so so recommend!
Cute place located in a good shopping and other food district. Street and close parking. It has traditional Japanese seating and normal design. Probably can do 2-6 for seating. We did not have a reservation however I do recommend it if you want to be sure to get a seat. The food was great excerpt for the ramen. I would not come here for ramen. But the Bao buns, and everything else was delicious. There is indoor and outdoor seating.
My wife and I had dinner here for the first time. I heard a lot of good things about this place and they were all confirmed. We had a meal that ranged from traditional Japanese sushi to fusion dishes like barbacoa dumplings. Here’s our order: Japanese Whiskey - Legent (it’s was excellent) Spicy Edamame Brussel Sprouts Crispy Barbacoa Dumplings Haramasa Serrano Wagyu Short Rib Nigiri Crispy Pork Belly Kakuni Voltron Roll Chefs Choice Nagiri There were at least a dozen other menu items that were order worthy, but you can only eat so much! We had a great time. The staff was kind, prompt and knowledgeable. Our server (Willow) was awesome. The entire vibe of this place can make you feel like you’re in a scene from some sort of Japanese gangster flick. We’ll be back!
Perfect perfect perfect. What a treasure of a place. Every dish hit, every drink was perfectly recommended, there were no mistakes made. The crowd was a mix of locals and tourists ranging in ages from 14 to 45. They have swing seating, and fake plants but they care about you, I swear! Get the sake flight ✈️ or just the Dassan Blue Sake, its such a unique taste with elements of pear, citrus, and orange. I can't wait to go back.
Lucky Robot is such a fun spot! The whole vibe is upbeat and energetic, with funky decor and a lively atmosphere that makes it feel different from any other sushi place I’ve been to. It’s the kind of restaurant where you can just relax, enjoy yourself, and soak in the experience. The food was amazing! Everything feels thoughtfully put together, from the presentation to the taste. Chef Kevin made the night even better with his welcoming personality and great energy. He fit right in with the playful, fun atmosphere and made the experience feel personal. This is definitely a place I’ll be coming back to, especially to try the tasting menu (but only with Kevin). If you’re looking for delicious sushi in a cool, vibrant setting, Lucky Robot is the spot!
We came here for Mother’s Day and had a great experience. We sat outside, and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. The food was fresh and full of flavor. We ordered the R2D2 and C-3PO rolls, the brussel sprouts, and the ceviche. Everything was prepared well and tasted great. Service was fast and friendly, even though it was a busy day. I definitely want to come back again, especially to try the happy hour menu. This is a solid spot for sushi and small plates in Austin.
I love sushi, and this was truly the best sushi experience I had in my life! I highly recommend this place. Reservations are recommended, however, we went around 515 which was a good timing. First off, parking was fairly easy of Congress. Second off, we were able to get a table for two fairly easy. I believe between 5 and 7 PM is happy hour which includes many of their popular dishes with significant discounts. I cannot recommend this place enough, and definitely will be coming back when I can.

Absolute excellent food. The chicken Karagge (not sure if I spelled it correctly) was unbelievably scrumptious and out of this world. Also the sushi plates were amazing. Everything was good, but the service wasn’t very attentive. And the seating was uncomfortable. Still a pretty good experience overall and highly recommend it!
Chef’s tasting? Oh, absolutely. I don’t eat sushi that often, but this experience had me ready to convert. I did the 5-course chef’s tasting—chef’s choice all the way—and every plate was a little masterpiece. I’m not gonna list each dish (go check the menu if you’re curious), but just know it was fire from start to finish. The vibe in this place? Straight-up dope. Cool, colorful, and cozy. Like Tokyo took a detour through South Congress and decided to stay. Let’s talk drinks: I had the Seasonal Mule—vodka, peach, lemon, and ginger beer. Light, fresh, and a little feisty. I could’ve had two but I like to stay humble. Bonus highlight: My granddaughter got the spinach and shiitake dumplings and y’all—she was in dumpling heaven. That girl doesn’t play when it comes to her food, and she gave ‘em the thumbs up. They also have a happy hour menu that’s definitely worth checking out. I’m already plotting .
Amazing food and decor! The service was a little slow on a weekend afternoon. But the food was delicious. I had sushi and my wife and my son had ramen each. We all had really good time. We would be…
overpriced, like way way overpriced. $6 for a piece of the Jack fish sushi. Are you kidding me? Avoid unless you're rich

Over a decade ago, I was coming for lunch all the time and loved it. I broke my hiatus by going for dinner last night: two people, Friday night, seats at the sushi bar. The wait service (Aaron) was fantastic, attentive, and helpful with suggestions. We were both disappointed by the food. The brussels sprouts were fantastic, but nothing else had any flavor and the amount of rice on nigiri and rolls was horrifying. The Crudo was beautiful, but had absolutely no flavor, and same comment for the nigiri and rolls. The dumplings had a great flavor, but we’re not served hot enough. Nigiri was great quality fish, good texture, but no taste, and again with WAY too much rice. While the restaurant overall has a fantastic vibe, the sushi bar was boring, faced away from the beautiful restaurant, and crowded. We spent $218 for two people, no booze. The big line items were the crudo (Hiramasa Serrano) and Voltron roll. Unfortunately this one was a miss for us. We will not be returning.
Battle roll, might have been the worst, most deflated sushi roll I've ever had. Brussels sprouts were great but have worst indigestion ever. Mushroom, pork belly and wagyu nigiri not worth it... flav…

I had the best sushi here 7 years ago and was looking forward for a return. However today’s experience was drastically different. I ordered the same thing (a bowl of Chirashi”), the fish along with other toppings are the thinnest slices I’ve ever seen. Not to mention the quality was also questionable. I look at this 1mm thick fish and avocado and felt speechless (see my pictures). Wow, this place has reduced itself to such level. I won’t be back again.
