Very happy with our experience! Cozy chill diner for sure, not fancy, perfect hangover spot, happy to recommend. We enjoyed our breakfast tacos and chicken fried steak!
Cute little diner. I had a breakfast taco and it was delicious. It had eggs, sausage, hash browns and cheese. The hash browns had a yummy crunch to them. The salsa was also fresh and delicious. You can tell it’s fresh not only from the taste but the chunks of peppers. Good size too. Great friendly service. It may not look like much but it’s clean and comfortable. I will be back!
This place is a must visit if ever at UT or visiting! Took the day off, and took the family to Austin to see the Capitol and The UT grounds. Looked up great places to eat and we were so glad to have found this Gem in the Wall! Food was very delicious and tasted great, coffee was delicious, and French Toast with sausage and scrambled eggs were TOP TIER! Our waitress Cindy was outstanding with her superb customer service and is a very hard worker! If ever up here again, will definitely stop by and enjoy the goods again! Our 6 hour trip was very worth the drive!
Off the beaten trail but still right around campus! Great diner menu. They are dog friendly!!!!! There is an outside patio. This is a smaller restaurant but they were able to seat our party of 4 families. We had called ahead. Patrons arriving were seated- no wait on a busy sorority weekend. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. They were able to split our checks with no fuss. And did I say mimosas- 1/2 off on Sundays?
Really good omelette bacon, cheddar, and avocado, with English muffins. Other plate scramble with bacon and sausage, black beans with English muffin. Good coffee also. I was looking for a small local restaurant and this was a great option. We were staying downtown Austin not a far drive and prices are reasonable.
This is such a welcoming and dependable place for breakfast or coffee. They have a small dining room, bar seats, and a shaded patio. It's a quick walk from campus or from St David's hospital. I loved my veggie omelet and toast, and the coffee was good enough to stop by just for that. To walk to with your coffee, there is also a small city park a couple blocks west with an adorable Eeyor sculpture and bridges over the creek. They have a small parking lot and street parking is available nearby.
Been here two times and I will say it is a great, not crowded spot to have a nice Breakfast, Brunch or dinner. They recently changed their hours (since I started looking a month ago) so that they are usually open till 8pm. Menu is all day, so I came in for a late brunch. Food is good. The Bathrooms are clean but wouldn't be my first choice, but they are ok. Lastly, their weekday specials change weekly to my knowledge. When i first came in, I got the Avocado toast special and that was really good. My second time here, I didn't get the special, but instead got the breakfast scramble. Also really good and reasonably priced for students or people looking for cheap eats! Highly recommend!
Somehow this place slipped past my radar until recently. Fantastic service, greeted and seated immediately. Food came out fresh and delicious. The pancake is amazing along with the rest of my food. The prices are affordable despite the present economy while maintaining quality. Highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious diner style food.
I stopped here after a visit to the LBJ library. I was promptly greeted, seated, and brought a menu. The wait staff is very friendly. You can tell this place has some history to it. I ordered an omelet with the home fries. It was huge and delicious. No complaints. This place is good, honest food served by friendly people. Definitely try this if you’re in the area.
This place has been around forever and a favorite breakfast hangout for the UT crowds. They also have great lunches. We tried the tortillas soup with a turkey club and a Texas burger. All were delicious. Service was good and the place had an austin vibe. Seating indoors and outdoors. I have been a patron here for over 20 years and it never disappoints. Highly recommend.
Super good! Place has apparently been here for years, but I've never ever seen or heard about it! Definitely a hidden gem. I had an egg white omelette with a blueberry multigrain pancake. My friends had the French toast and a Denver Omelet. All great! Staff was friendly. Prices reasonable. Will definitely be coming back my next trip to Austin!
Visited with wife and sister. I had chicken fried steak which was good. They had breakfasts which were excellent. Prefer if they had fountain soda rather than cans.
Cozy cafe just off Red River St. near campus with very friendly service and a traditional cafe menu. Last time I came, I tried their chicken fried steak which had a pretty thin tenderized steak but overall tasty. This time I had a medium rare New York steak and eggs. Thin steaks are always hard to get a good sear without overcooking, but I appreciated the attempt. I got hashbrowns extra crispy this time, and it was a bit greasy. Overall, solid though.
ORDER BREAKFAST ONLY! First few times I've come here where absolutely delectable, the price may be a little high but the food is amazing - that being breakfast. Today was the first time I ordered lunch and I'm disappointed to say it was unappetizing. We had a burger and a chicken plate and had to add seasoning and hot sauce to give it a taste. Not saying it was disgusting, there was a bug or it was moldy - just no taste whatsoever. Stick with breakfast, delicious, hot and fast, would recommend this place as a brunch spot!
My fiancé and I came to get a quick breakfast and it was a good experience for the most part. I got the steak and eggs and my fiancé got the BLT (see photos). For the price and speed it was great! My only complaint is that my steak was very undercooked in the middle (blue for my steak people). I asked for a medium steak and it was still mooing. The ambiance is like a kitschy Irish pub vibe which I liked. The service people were nice :) My fiancé loved his BLT.
Cozy little diner that offered a special of two breakfast tacos, a full serving of french toast and a 16 oz iced coffee...not a bad deal at all! The food was very good though I feel the waiter could have been a bit better about checking up on me. Notwithstanding it was a good experience and I would certainly recommend.
Maybe I'll try something else next time. Omelet was just eggs with veggies tossed on top and folded. No real cook to any of the vegetables in it... or on top? No side for an 11$ omelet, some hash browns or potatos be nice addition. Large cup of ice coffee so can't complain on that portion. Potato and eggs were very good on another meal. More effort put in to that meal. I'd go back and try one of their specials. Small parking area so caution driving anything bigger than a small SUV. Would go again but maybe not omelet next time
It was a nice local breakfast place. I ordered a Santa Barbara omelette with hash browns. It was good. Toast was good with honey. Omelette was okay. Hash browns was really good. I think it might be better if I had egg benedict plate for the weekend. It is at a very good price for food. I am taking points off because I don’t find omelette that unique or good
This place is fine if you like spending $20+ on mediocre breakfast food. It's not bad, it is a cozy place to have a relaxed meal. But its mostly only special because of nostalgia & proximity to campus.
Best part of the breakfast was the orange juice and water. Coffee was obnoxiously strong. Sweet tea was a diabetic coma in the making. Hash browns without seasoning. Undercooked pancakes. Bizarre. My nephew liked his chicken pita, but he also eats fast food. Human kibble? Sheesh.
Really bad. Starting with the eggs themselves... The scrambled eggs were burned, actually flat and browned like an omelette. The over-medium fried eggs were undercooked to the point there was still clear goo in the white, and they were already ice cold when they showed up. The home fries were so raw, you couldn't stick a fork in most pieces. The hash browns were absolutely disgusting... Basically shredded potatoes fully soaked in old rancid grease... really foul. I think they buy the smallest, lowest grade eggs available. Even the english muffins were low quality. We won't be back.
