Honestly, this place is the best Chinese food I have had in years. Everything is so fresh and does not taste like msg!
Tried several standard dishes (curry chicken, kung Pao, etc.) and they are delicious! Very friendly service too!
So glad we tried a lot of dishes off the chef's specialty menu. Really good Sichuan spice, the mala numbing chilli effect is spot on here and every dish was so full of flavor. Can't wait to go back and try more!
Excellent food and service, at a good price. Shanghai style rice cakes are awesome, along with the cumin beef, and garlic eggplant. Hidden gem in Austin!
Ordered takeout from here for the first time last night. Food was amazing and was ready quick. Service was also very friendly! We will certainly be back as we love just around the corner. Welcome to the neighborhood!
Great food and service. It was my first time there, but won't be my last! The food tasted like there was a lot of attention and care put into it. The decor is not fancy, but the great customer service and good food make up for it.
Eaten here multiple times (lunch). Food always good and served hot. Lunch prices reasonable.
I believe it is one of best Chinese restaurants in Austin for its authentic taste, service, and environment. One suggestion would be the food can be more salty for Sichuan style food usually has stronger flavor.
The food was exceptional! The best way I can describe it was it was clean. By cleaning I mean authentic. Not a lot of salt etc. I’m definitely going back and I’m sure once the word gets out this place will be crowded.
The Singapore noodles were absolutely delicious. The owner came out to say hi and check on us. He was lovely and explained the orgins of our orders!
Tasty Chinese… now we know where to come for tasty Chinese takeout. We actually tasted the ginger… in our vegetable dish.
Hidden gem! Tasty and generous portions
Best Chinese restaurant in the area strongly recommend to give it a try.
Food was delicious, staff is friendly. Definitely try if you want truly authentic Chinese food.
Great food. Fixed our schezuan craving. Our server was very sweet.
I’ve ordered from here a few times and I’ve had a hiccup or two with my orders (misunderstanding on my part one time) and they have promptly fixed it each time to my satisfaction. : ) They have generous portions and are conveniently located!
Service was relatively fast. Food is great and cooked well. Food is very authentic Chinese cuisine.
Very authentic and delicious Eastern Chinese / Shanghai food. High recommended!!
Yummy authentic Chinese foods, the portion is generous and the waitress is very friendly. My first choice in Austin.
Food is delicious. The most authentic Shanghai cuisine restaurant in Austin. This service is quick.
We LOVE this place! I food is delicious, the portions generous and the staff are friendly and smart. We're thrilled to have them in the neighborhood!!!
A bit pricey. But the food and service deserved 5-stars. I will return to try other dishes.
Best Chinese I have ever had in Austin! Everything is sliced exceptionally well, flavor profile of each dish is distinct/unique, veggies/meat/fish tastes very fresh, not overly oily, and staff are super kind. Highly recommend!!
Some of the best Chinese food in Austin. Bright dining area. Came here with family members to try it out. Had my favorite vegetable, snow pea leaves. Cooked perfectly with a bit of crunch in it. Very much enjoyed the Shanghai fried rice cakes. Good snack. Sautéed egg plants were pretty good. Reminded me that eggplants tend to be mushy. I like it a bit more fried. Jinsha Prawns are probably my favorite dish here. Kind of like Walnut Shrimp at other restaurants but a salty instead of sweet flavor. Definitely recommending this one. Loved munching on the fried pork intestines. I typically prefer them not so fried for more flavor but these were a good crunch. Beef in Chili Oil was interesting. Not as spicy as It looks, more of a bumbling flavor. Beef was soft and good. For soup we had the Chinese Yam with Chicken Soup. Kind of tasted like coconut soup but overall a warm pleasant feeling. Would come again, good for sharing plates with friends and family.
We tried Seven Spice this week and we're pleasantly surprised with the quality and the quantity of the dishes. They have an extensive menu and The food we ordered was fresh and tasty. We ordered chicken with garlic sauce and two vegetarian dishes and they were simply awesome. We are very happy to have such a great restaurant in our neighborhood and highly recommend them.
This is a delightful place; it’s quiet, great personal service and the food is great. I usually don’t eat a lot of Chinese but Seven Spice has healthy option even for gluten and dairy free. Orange beef is delicious and moo shu chicken and shrimp are two of my favorites.
The food is consistently delicious! It tastes homemade. I love the egg rolls, beef and broccoli, orange chicken and wonton soup! It’s our favorite quiet week night spot!
Called and ordered Shrimp Fried Rice for pick-up. Was just coming out of the kitchen when I arrived. Still nice and hot when I got home. Best Shrimp Fried Rice I've had in a long time - and very reasonably priced! Will return!
We go here more than we would like to admit and every time we go the food is better than the last. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicios. The food is great and the people there are so kind with flawless recommendations.
One of those places with food so beautiful we couldn't wait to take a photo to dig into it. Wonderfully friendly staff, extremely good food (order off the chef's special!), everything was so lovingly handmade and fresh and quick and without a single cut corner; can't wait to make this a regular go-to!
Delicious authentic Chinese Restaurant. Friendly and helpful service, every dish our server recommended was amazing. Thank you! We'll be coming back.
Authentic Chinese food. Worth the drive. A family owned and operated establishment that delivers on taste, generous portion size, and quality of products. Best in Austin!
Great hidden gem! Menu is diverse and the food tastes authentic and freshly made. Dining in is a very pleasant atmoshphere with lovely service. My new favorite!
We got the fried dumplings, orange chicken, and Singapore rice noodles - everything was amazing!! We’ll definitely make this a regular place we go to.
It was altogether a wonderful experience. The waitstaff was attentive and the food was excellent. We ordered beef chow fun, which had a perfect mild zing and tender slices of beef. The other dish we ordered was eggplant with garlic sauce - also very flavorful. Both dishes had very fresh ingredients and came out piping hot (temperature).
Love the delicious food and the friendly staff! Can't wait to try the next new dish here 🤌🏼
Great fresh food. Consistently excellent. Friendly family owned business. Our go to Chinese restaurant.
This place is truly the real deal. You know a Chinese restaurant is good when many many Chinese people eat there. My favorite dish is their pork lo mein dish. Man, it is not a dish, they serve it to you on a platter! Large proportions, the thickness and size of the pork also increased since our last visit. Overall five stars for this place. Highly recommend.
My wife and I loved our first visit to this restaurant! I found it recommended as one of the best Chinese restaurants in the city, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the Dan Dan Noodles, and the dish was savory, delicious, and a large portion. Ground pork, spring onions, and delicious noodles in a nice, slightly spicy broth. My wife had the braised pork belly, which was sweet with large, ultra tender chunks of pork. Our waitress was super nice, friendly, and helpful. We will definitely be back
The food is delicious and very fresh. There are enough vegetarian dishes for several visits, and we bring all our friends here so we've had many meals. The people who work here are very friendly and give us great service. I recommend coming for lunch too, they're near lots of offices but the service is still speedy.
There is a total baller running this kitchen and they deserve *all the awards* for food deliciousness. For me, a takeout meal from Se7en Spice has authenticity and sophistication and does not feel Americanized at all. (Admittedly I’m not particularly qualified to judge the authenticity, but I do know tastiness, and I have eaten enough American Chinese food in my time to know that this is different.) Do yourself a favor and have a family-style meal so you can sample a bunch of the flavors. Tonight we tried the Eggplant w/ Basil for the first time and it wins the championship. The eggplant was perfectly mushy and infused with subtle basil flavor. Divine. We also tried Spicy Chicken and it was not my favorite because I was expecting it to be a mixture of chicken and vegetables, but it was just meat. Noted for the future. We had some cut vegetables at home we could add to round out the meal, so it worked out OK. Giant Pork Meatball of Awesomeness, listed simply as Braised Pork Meat Ball on the menu: visually and tastefully stunning. Steamed Dumplings: they come with this soy and vinegar dipping sauce that is right on point. All in all, if you’re looking for balanced flavors and visually delightful food, way cheaper and easier than a trip to China, this place has got you covered.
This place is consistently good and flavorful! Great service and the friendliest owners! I have FINALLY found my favorite orange chicken dish in Austin!
Having recently relocated from Hong Kong and missing "real" Chinese food as opposed to the usual Chinese-American fare found in Austin, this place was amazing. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, the food was very authentic and tasty, and overall it was a wonderful experience. Definitely check it out if you are looking to experience excellent Chinese cuisine in a cosy environment.
So Good! We ordered 2 different entrees and shared them both, family-style. Such a great setup for sharing. The Mongolian beef was a-ma-zing; super tender and chocked full of thin sliced jalapeños (they weren't very spicy but, I suspect you could request it spicier). The real mind blower was the Braised Pork Belly! I mean, it just melts in your mouth. Both dishes were generously sized and I loved the texture of the rice. The server (I assume) was one of the owners; they were so friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this place. Also, NO MSG, which is nice because my wife is allergic.
I have been exploring different Asian restaurants since moving to Austin, and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the casual atmosphere at this new Chinese restaurant. The menu presents a good balance of traditional dishes and more westernized ones, so there's something for everyone. The food was fresh, served hot and the tea fragrant. I only explored a few dishes from the Chef's Choice part of the menu, and will definitely be coming back to try the other flavors. Good service, friendly owners.
One of the few “authentic” Chinese restaurants in Austin offering Sichuan, Hunan, and Shanghainese cuisine. It’s family owned, super friendly staff, and the closest you can get to a home cooked meal. Some knockouts are: - Steamed Fish & Tofu with Red Picked Pepper - Crispy Fried Chicken - Shanghai Stir-fried Rice Cakes -Griddle Cooked Cauliflower w/ Smoked Pork Highly recommend as it’s one of my regular Chinese restaurant rotations. Be a little patient with their service as it can get busy and they are family staffed.
A hidden gem in Austin! Menu offers a variety of authentic options (especially on the Sichuan and Hunan side of Chinese cuisine) as well as classic American Chinese. The stir-fried rice cake and the Hunan spicy stir-fried pork and peppers were both 5/5 in flavor, potions, and price! The owners are very kind as well. Found a new top Chinese spot in Austin!
Loved the Shanghai rice cakes, fish with preserved mustard greens, spicy fish, Szechuan numbing chicken, green beans, mapo tofu, & cauliflower dry pot. Not greasy and felt lighter like home cooking - I really liked every dish! They were also very accommodating for our large group and brought small plates for the birthday cake. Great service and food, and we will be back!
I had an excellent experience at Seven Spice! The walnut shrimp, tofu and vegetables, and sizzling beef were absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy, making it a great spot for a family dinner or casual hangout. Everything from the service to the quality of food exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to friends and family!
I've been visiting Seven Spice in Austin for years now, and it consistently delivers an exceptional dining experience. I recently celebrated Lunar New Year with my friends there, and once again, we were blown away by the delicious food and warm hospitality. We ordered a wide variety of dishes, and everything was perfectly seasoned and presented. The flavors were bold and vibrant, and the ingredients were fresh and high-quality. The owners are incredibly welcoming and passionate about their food, making for a truly enjoyable dining experience. This was my third visit to Seven Spice, and it hasn't disappointed once. The food is consistently delicious, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service is impeccable. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a delicious meal, I highly recommend Seven Spice. It's a true gem in Austin's culinary scene.
My favorite go-to place for delicious authentic Chinese food! The portions are very generous, the food is always served fresh and hot, and the waitresses are both really friendly and accommodating.
Super friendly, enthusiastic staff. Food was authentic and not over priced. Chef owned. 👍🏼👍🏼 Will return. Plant based options 👏👏🌱
This place completely blew me away. If you’re looking for authentic, flavorful, and beautifully cooked Chinese food, look no further.
This is one of the best authentic Chinese restaurants in town!!! You can taste how fresh the food is. I come from a seaside city in China, and I do not like salty dishes, and can not eat too spicy dishes. Most of the dishes here are very yummy to me! Clam is my fav, and the chicken soup is definitely a must for me! Everything is excellent!
Best chinese food we have had lately in Austin hands down!!! The beef & onion was superb! Little hole in the wall vibe. Owner is the chef and also superb with wok cooking, can taste the difference!
One of the most down to Earth Chinese and absolute best places to eat in Austin! I met a regular that had JUST gotten off the plane, and absolutely had to come here right after the flight! The staff literally talks and has a real conversation with each person that came in, and even though Im from CA, I hope that when I come in next time, that I would have the chance to go straight here as well :))

I had lunch today and it was great. First the food come out super fast. And the flavor is awesome. Also the lady that serves us is super nice. I would take my whole family and come eat again.

The food experience at Seven Spice was AMAZING to say the least! ORDER: small wonton soup, egg rolls, spicy orange chicken, spicy beef and broccoli, and fried rice... all of which was delicious and fresh. The wonton soup ingredients were all fresh.(you can tell by the brightness of the veggies and how delicious it tasted) and was a great way to start my experience... I ordered a small but it was a pretty big bowl which set the tone for the rest of the food which all came in large portions and all freshly made. The chicken and beef were super tender and tasted perfect.... the egg rolls and fried rice were cherries on top and a tasty compliment to the entire meal! There's not many places where the food is made to order and comes out fairly quick but Seven Spice serves it up fresh, hot, and quick without sacrificing one for the other. After 10 years in Austin, I can't believe I haven't been to this place before but it's officially my favorite Chinese food spot. Great service, amazing food, huge portions, and low prices, what's not to like!? I highly recommend this spot 👌
The mapo tofu was fire! Best I’ve had Austin. I’ll be back to try out some of their other Szechuan dishes.
Love the delicious food and the friendly staff! Can't wait to try the next new dish here 🤌🏼

The food and always fantastic and if you are pork it is real Park I have never got any bad food always friendly process is good
Very legit Chinese food. Great tastes and unique dishes. We had a shredded potato appetizer, cumin lamb, plus jingsha fried pumpkin!
During out stay in Austin for six days, we had their food four times. It was pretty good. On the last day, they did not put any plasticware cutlery and napkins and soya sauce in the sack though.
Loved the Vegetable & Chicken Lo-mein noodles. They were really amazing. Shrimp kung pao was fabulous as well + Chicken with garlic sauce was great. The only sweet dish on the menu, wine soup+ rice balls was really really bad. I would request the restaurant to improve the taste or remove it from the menu. It leaves a really bad taste in your mouth. Something seems uncooked.
Ordered Sesame Chicken and Singapore rice noodles for pickup. VERY generous servings which is a plus. The Singapore Noodles were flavorful and had a large variety of ingredients- more than what have been included from other places. The sesame chicken however, was not sweet like I've been accustomed to, and the coating was quite light and lacking in crispiness. It didn't taste bad, but it was just a little bit bland in comparison.
We waited half hour to get the food. Half hour to get the bill because waitress/ owner is talking to other customers and couldn’t hear me asking for a bill. There were only a few customers the whole time. I do not understand the wait at all. Food was good. Portion size was good. Worth the overprice.
We have been visiting the restaurant at this location for several years. It recently changed from China Cafe to Seven Spice. When we arrived, we were the only patrons not waiting for take away. We were seated and ordered dumplings and 4 entrees to share. Everything was delicious. The kitchen was a little slow, but everything was fresh and hot. Before we left, there were several more tables seated.

Service was excellent and the venue is clean and attractive. Unfortunately our protein was tough…either overcooked or poor quality (Mongolian Beef and Garlic Chicken). We informed the server.
Pretty standard food but the people are very nice and seem happy to have your business. I'll give them another chance and go for a regional specialty there mainly because of the people working there.
Pros: Clean place, really kind staff, general Tao’s chicken was great, and so was the rice and hot and sour soup. They were hot enough spicy enough, a good sized portion and a pleasant presentation. Little to no wait. They were ready very quickly. Cons: the Mongolian was mostly green bell pepper and carrots… TWO ITEMS NO ONE WANTS IN THIS DISH!!! the tiny bits of beef and soggy strands of onion and green onion were an ugly mess that tasted ok and it was served hot and plenty spicy. The egg rolls may not be microwaved but they sure appear that way. Like they were a wet mess of cabbage with they both hard and soft sides.
The food is five stars. The service is one star. There is one harried host/waiter/cashier who brings out dishes in random order and usually after a long wait. Today I never got my online order after 45 minutes. They never saw the order apparently. But the food keeps me coming back.
Food wasn't great, and was a little expensive. Would have been okay with the price if the food was better, but honestly we ordered three things and didn't finish any of them despite me and my teen sister being pretty forgiving about food quality since we grew up eating at very cheap restaurants.
We ordered for pickup. The food was very bland. Even my daughter asked wy the beef in the beef and broccoli looked so pale and said it was very flavorless. The sesame chicken was also underwhelming. Cream Cheese Rangoons were small but ok. Overall, with tip we spent $70 on two entrees and some Rangoons and egg rolls and threw most of it out because it was not good.
We had been driving by this restaurant on Spicewood Springs for over a year when we decided to drop in on an impulse. Nothing too fancy about the restaurant and a little plain but quiet and cozy. I ordered a cup of hot and sour soup, and my wife and I shared an order of Kung Pao chicken with extra peanuts and an order of egg rolls. Service was good and our order was delivered hot. The soup was pretty thin and had little depth. The egg rolls were greasy and not special at all. The kung pao was good but was over-loaded with peanuts. Nicely spiced though and they had cut up the chili peppers to nicely spice it. When our bill came I questioned the 4 Dollar charge for extra peanuts. Our server said they were extra charge but $4 is ridiculous. All in all it is a decent local option but I doubt we will return.

Food was just ok. Too salty for our taste. Fried rice was also kinda boring.
This is a highly rated place, so maybe as my first time, I may not have selected the right dish. I didn't at all care for the texture of the chicken (like a Prevost boiled, then frozen, then reheated situation) or how gelatinous the sauce was on my plate. It did upset my stomach, unfortunately. So, I'm not so sure I'll be going back. I will say that the hostess was super sweet and a great waitress.
Very slow service. Others who were seated long after we were got served before us. We were a party of 3. Our food came one at a time. And the last one much later. My food lacked any flavor. My husband's was good. My son's was extra super spicy.I would not return. I did write them a personal review with these issues before we checked out.So this should not be a surprise.
I ordered 3 dishes: braised pork belly, double cooked pork belly and spicy chicken. The spicy chicken is good, but the other two dishes are awful. The braised pork belly is too oily and just doesn't look right. And the double cooked pork belly is oily too, what's worse, its has cabbage instead of garlic sprouts. NO authentic double cooked pork belly has cabbage! Definitely not a place for authentic Szechuan food. And the rice is sticky, even I could make better food than theirs. Waste of money
The food looked good but I was unfortunately never able to get my food despite having sat in the restaurant for 1+ hours. They seemed severely understaffed. The waitress was nice but I feel they should have told up front about the wait times or not accepted more customers. I went in at 6 pm and there were 3 tables in front of me. It took 10-15 min before I could order and then another hour before I found out that my order hasn’t even started cooking yet, and that it would be filled after one of the take out orders that just walked in. During that hour, I saw many take out orders being fulfilled so they must have been prioritizing that over dine-in. I suggest ordering takeout if you are to try this restaurant.
Unfortunately, nothing stood out here. We ordered three dishes and every one was mediocre. The so-called crispy spicy chicken was a joke, the vegetables were bland, and only the spicy boiled fish was passable. Long wait times even for dine-in, with barely any service.
Make sure you know the price before you buy. They will ask for your card and then show you the price after scanning your card. Then they will say they don't do refunds. Super sketch :)
Second time I’ve been here (for take out) with a lot of time between each visit, and I’m afraid both times the food was so salty and overcooked that I really couldn’t eat much, and discarded most of it. I’m very sorry to write this, as I want to support local.
Lost our order and several other people there had the same issue. She couldn't speak English so we couldn't get a refund either. If the same happens to you, go to your banking app and dispute the charge that should still be a pending transaction.
General Tsos chicken - dry, tough, essentially no breading and mediocre sauce. Hot sour soup - worst Ive ever had, no flavor and lacking the sour element entirely. Beef Lo mein - mediocre, not terrible but notting special. Overall very disappointing.
Chicken was very dry hard and tasted very old and super salty.I wanted to enjoy this place so much but this is a definite never again return to. This is what I get for trying to explore.
Waited at least 1 hour for beef fried rice and beef lo mein. They had 1 take out order ahead of me, the two dine ins that came in after I placed my order got their food before the order ahead of the takeouts. They came in about twenty minutes after I placed my to go order. Food was worse than FireBowl or any generic Chinese restaurant.
Got sick after dining there. We went as a group of ten last month. Several of us had bad diarrhea that night. In addition, the foods were all too spicy so you couldn’t taste anything but hot. We all agreed this restaurant should be on the Not-To-Go list.
Sorry but I have to give a 1-star review. The service was extremely slow. We didn't order any fancy food, just 2 stir fried dishes with a boiled fish. The server did take the order timely, but after waiting for half an hour, seeing parties before and after us all got their dishes served, we had to leave. Last time when we came as a party of 7, it wasn't that slow. I understand labor shortages are an issue, but starving customers should be served somehow.
Maybe we caught them on a bad day, but this is definitely the worst Asian food I've ever had. It took 40 minutes to make our food. The crab rangoons were very small and the filling was firm and crumbly instead of creamy. The chicken texture was awful and most pieces looked almost pink? It was a little tough to tell but I don't usually have to question the color of my chicken. The lo mein was very bland, with the barely cooked onions holding most of the flavor. The best part of my meal was the white rice.
Wish I could give it a minus star. We ordered 3 dishes and waited for 45 minutes! The fried chicken was severely overcooked. The hot pepper in it was burned and make the chicken taste bitter. The other two dishes were okay. The rice come with the dishes was sour. Open the box and we smelled the rotten odor. Very bad experience for the dishes in that price level. Won’t visit it again.

This place should be shut down. I ordered steamed dumplings and pepper steak. Both were disgusting. Dumplings tasted like frozen goop. And the pepper steak: totally gross and shiny. Dripping with oil and very grisly. Best part about the restaurant was leaving. Told the woman working that their food was gross, never had anything so greasy in my life. No English response from the woman. Told her that there’s a good reason why the restaurant was empty. It sucks! Please don’t waste your time or money on this place! If I could have given 0 stars to this review I would have done so.

No English response from the woman. Told her that there’s a good reason why the restaurant was empty. It sucks! Please don’t waste your time or money on this place! If I could have given 0 stars to this review I would have done so.
