Avis sur Sunny & Annie’s Deli Avenue B
Had number 11, the hot roast beef sandwich with cheddar, and sweet peppers. The sweet peppers really elevates the taste. The bread had nice texture.
This deli has some of the best sandwiches in all of of NYC. i’ve ordered sandwiches from them since 2002 and they are still as good as ever. Also a great place to order delivery of whatever you forgot to get at the supermarket. They’re always friendly, fast, and reliable. This is a true NYC gem. My favorite sandwiches: the Louis, the Pho Real. Also try their breakfast sandwiches.
Wonderful selection of sandwiches, each one coming with a fun name, often inspired by semi-local celebrities. Great place for both lunch and a midnight snack. My current favorite is the Biden, but they have so many options it's always worth exploring.
Sunny and Annie's is my favorite deli in NYC, I always love to go get some wraps. They have a wide variety of goods for sale and their deli counter has delicious Korean-American fusion food.
Go and try something you've never had before. A sandwich that makes you question...will that work? Everything works! Their sandwiches and bread are fantastic and fresh! Love this place!
Hidden sandwich gem. Lunch, breakfast, dinner, late night recovery sandwiches. The 29 with mayo and mustard is my go to, love the pickle side with every order. Very well priced. I've been going here for almost 10 years and it rarely misses.
I told them before I moved, that I’d miss this place. Little did I know how much I really would. This bodega is the absolute BEST in all of NYC, hands down, and if you want to try to find a better one, good luck. On top of that, the whole family are the nicest, most appreciative people you’ll ever meet.
This deli is by far hands down the best! Super friendly staff. Always stocked. Great sandwiches! Just know this deli is small.. when it’s busy, it can seem confusing where the line is, especially if you ordered a sandwich. With that being said, don’t be rude.
Everything on their menu is great. Soups are my favorite lentil soup amazing. Decent prices overall. Owners are super friendly and there so clean!
This is a real neighborhood gem. Every time I come here I'm blown away by the deli sandwiches. Really stands out with unique flavors and ingredients you won't find at other sandwich counters. If you're nearby and want a sandwich TRY THIS DELI. You will be happy you went.
I love this place! Curry special wrap and tuna salad wrap are so fresh and delicious! They also make their protein salads inhouse and the family is so kind to the visitors. Highly recommend!
Any sandwich with a name is worth ordering. Which puts your selection at around 40 or 50! The Pho Sandwhich is a magic trick and worth trying at least once if you are in New York.
If this isn't your local bodega, it should be. The selection on the sandwiches is absurd. My personal favorite is the Jackie Chan, if you get stuck. But every single one I've had has left me satisfied... and hungry to go back the next day.
Place absolutely hits. I love the variety and the names of the sandwiches as well. My wrap was made in less than 10 minutes and it was a super busy night too. Have to make this my new spot
After living nearly above this deli for a year, and even now being in Brooklyn for the subsequent year, I can still say these are the best sandwiches in nyc. The variety of Pho sandwiches are creative and delicious. I crave them regularly. Dont stray from the menu; definitely order a pre-set, obscurely named sandwich. You’d never order all those ingredients if it were up to you, but you’ll be happy you did. Open 24/7.
Fave deli sandwiches in the world! So many creative options with unique flavor combos and fun names. Though there’s so much to choose from- my standard go to’s are the pho real 1 (served hot or cold) and the Italian. I always call to place my order so I don’t have to wait.
The best bacon or sausage, egg and cheese In The city. Great sandwiches. Amazing variety. Family has owned this forever and is super friendly. Just one of the best bodegas in the city. Period.
Very cutesy, very demure deli! But actually it took me back a little bit. They actually sell newspapers and there’s a self-serve coffee ☕️ station which I like (for efficiency purposes - I don’t drink coffee so don’t ask how it was lol). But the actual tea about this place is the deli menu!!! Honey I have never seen these options in my life. I was so overwhelmed so I just went with a friend’s recommendation and got the Pho #1 sandwich. This is something I never knew I needed!! My friend was gagged when I told him I ate the whole thing 😅 but it was just so damn good. And your girl can eat. 🤪
Cute little place with a million sandwich options with funny names. Reading the "menu" on the wall is quite impossible, so just pick the first sandwich you find that is close to your likings and you would likely be happy. The 3 sandwiches we had were all excellent! These are large sandwiches so they can easily be shared by two if you're not very hungry.
I had Jackie Chan sub, super delicious and hearty. Very creative naming the sandwiches with famous people, easy to call out:)
Now I know what a lot of you were thinking, how could this be the best sandwich spot in New York City? Arguably one of the best sandwich cities on the entire little blue planet… But let me tell you, the phone number to stands in a league of its own, I come here three times per week in the summertime, every single time I am not disappointed, I promise you this is one of the absolute best sandwiches in all of New York City! It’s a tiny little deli that you would not suspect but it is a true hidden gem of this great city! 1000% recommend that you get your buns over here and get one!
Sunny and Annie's is a gem of a place. They make the best sandwiches. If you're vegetarian or vegan there are plenty of options and they are happy to accommodate requests (like swapping cheese for tofu). They have an array of ingredients and mouth watering combos! Everyone that works there is lovely as well. I really wish I still lived near-by as I haven't found another deli that comes close!
This place is the real deal - they offer well over a hundred different sandwiches, and each one will be delivered exactly as described. When I say that, I mean that the sandwich you order will be the perfect, platonic ideal of what you read off the charming hand-wirtten, scotch-taped menu that obscures the griddle. Where else can you you get a sandwich with bulgogi and chicken salad? I cannot recommend this business enough.
Stop by for a wonderful sandwich. A huge selection of great sandwiches. The hummus and avocado veggie was filling after a day of city biking. Check out the display of colored card sandwich descriptions for the standard selection. There are so many selection cards you can not see the deli
A great place to get a quick and tasty sandwich in the neighborhood at any time of day. They have a huge variety to choose from, so there really is something for everyone (unless you are a sandwich hater - boo on you). The ingredients are always good, and they've never gotten sassy with me when I've asked them to leave particular things off of my sandwich. It's always nice when you don't get attitude for special requests! I'm a picky lady.
The sandwiches here are amazing and super creative. I’m obsessed with the Pho 19, with tuna, bulgogi, kimchi, spinach, and chesse; so good! The sandwiches are huge too, and they have a large variety (there are some Italian heros/wraps among other variations).
Pho no 1 was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a while! Definitely coming back
Sunny & Annie's Deli: A Must-Visit for Fresh and Delicious Eats Sunny & Annie's Deli is absolutely worth the trip. This spot is all about freshness and flavor, and every bite feels like it’s made with care. Whether you’re grabbing a sandwich, a snack, or something quick to go, the quality is consistently top-notch. The staff are super friendly, adding a welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. It’s the kind of place where you know you’re getting both great food and great service. If you’re in the area—or even if you’re not—it’s totally worth spending the time to stop by. Sunny & Annie’s is a gem you don’t want to miss! 🥪✨👏
pho sandwich !? awesome . also really wonderful friendly staff
smallest bodega in Alphabet City serving the most mind blowing sandwich combinations you've ever tasted and has virtually everything you could ever need all somehow packed into this tiny store. Go here and order the Pho Real #1 (cold). closest subway stop is the F train at East Broadway, the one I'm sure there's a slightly faster way via bus.
This place has been around for yeeaarss and it has always hit the same way it did back then. The John Carrey is a staple and the service is so good! If you're looking for a deli or a snack at night, this is the place !
The sandwiches are good here. The kimchi beef bulgogi sandwich is the best sandwich they have. It's delicious! Small deli and can be a bit of a wait on the weekends. 24 hrs. Highly recommend!
Amazing. I think it’s my favorite place I’ve ever had a sandwich from. The pho sandwich is best. Shoutout to the person who made my sandwich for recommending it!!
These sandwiches are ridiculously tasty and not like your regular deli's sandwiches! I had the Pho1 and Pho2 sandwiches and they were both absolutely incredible... There was a line when I arrived, but they made the orders quickly and tasted delicious. Definitely will be back for more
This is a neighborhood staple. As everyone’s mentioned the sandwiches are on point, very creative and reasonably priced. I have watched the price of the bacon egg and cheese rise from $3.25 to $4.25 over the years unfortunately but it’s still the best bang for your buck in the neighborhood considering you’ve got spots like c&b cafe, Tompkins, and black seed charging 10 freaking dollars and up. Good beer selection in the back. Note that it does get super busy on Saturday and Sunday mornings when everyone’s hungover and needs a BEC. Sometimes there’s a line for the sandwiches but it’s because they’re bangin. Also Annie’s a sweetheart!
*𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒑 𝒕𝒐 𝑺𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒘𝒊𝒄𝒉: Breaking cultural barriers in NYC 🗽 is a norm, like how this Korean-owned deli 🇰🇷 took our beloved Phở Gà 🍜🐔 and transformed it into a carry-out sandwich 🥖. Turns out this is a great way to introduce 🇻🇳 flavors to the masses. Not a bad deal considering the Hallyu (𝙺𝚘𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚗 𝚌𝚞𝚕𝚝𝚞𝚛𝚊𝚕 𝚠𝚊𝚟𝚎 🇰🇷) influence in 🇻🇳 + 🇵🇭 + 🌏.
I had this sandwich several years ago and I can still taste the incredible combination of flavors and textures that made up the meatball sub from Sunny and Annie's Deli. It was more than just a sandwich - it was an experience that left me absolutely speechless. From the perfectly seasoned meatballs to the tangy marinara sauce and the perfectly toasted bread, every bite was an explosion of pure deliciousness. Since then, I've been on a mission to find a comparable meatball sub, but nothing comes close. It's like this sandwich haunts me, tempting me to make the trek back to New York just to have it again.
The sandwiches are SO good and flavorful. Also pretty large. Would def come back! Came on a Saturday evening. Interior is pretty small and a lil cramped bc it’s pretty busy - but typical for a deli lol. Wait is like ~15 min for your sandwich - Pho 10 sandwich w/ roast pork on hero ($18.50): 9/10, spicy and yummy! - Pho 11 sandwich w/ bulgogi on hero ($18.50): 10/10, liked the flavor more than the pho 11 sandwich. Would def get again * Note: Paying w/ cash is cheaper
Great sandwiches. BUT if you order online expect some drastic up-charges. Better to order in person if you can. It was $44 for 2 sandwiches and a $4 upcharge to add cucumbers and pesto to an egg and bacon sandwich
I come here before I take any trips on Amtrak, which is often, and I come for the 1001 or chicken Cesar wrap... However I've tried others those are my absolute favorite for packing for long trips. And they're snacks and beverage selection are everything I could ask for. And I go out of my way to get there but it's worth it.
Their sandwiches are so good! We had pho #1 sandwich, and it was the best sandwich ever. I've never had anything like this before. The pho beef is so tender, and all the flavors and ingredients work so well together. Still dreaming about it the next day. Owners are really nice too. I will definitely be getting a sandwich when I'm in the area!
An ethical, industrious family has made it their business to operate a lone deli down on Avenue B and Sixth, and they do it well.. All you might need from a bodega is well-stocked. A nod of the hat for maintaining excellent hot coffee thru the long hours of operation. Soups are solid.. goto is the ol Chicken Noodle. Extra star for Managing customers.. some of whom might be drunk and disagreeable at night. Well, you've heard of the sandwiches. They really knock it out of the park in that department. Personal challenge: come to know each of these sandwiches. Cultivate a relationship with these 'characters'.. the Biden et al.. Cash tips are welcome and deserved. Take notes.. and when ordering, use a telephone and call their maintained-for-3 decades 212 phone number. They don't give those out to any yo-yo.. Pro tip: don't eat at Tompkins--there's a tranquil garden just south across the street. And at night, walk it over to ol' Josies..
Wow what amazing sandwiches. It’s not your typical bodega deli. It’s a very special and unique place. I 100% prefer this than any other bagel or sandwich shop in east village. SO yUMMY 😋
A super creative 24/7 deli with really fun options! I got the classic pho sandwich and it was so delicious and so packed. Definitely a filling meal! Personally, I would've preferred more herbs to make the sandwich more "pho"-y , but delicious regardless. Staff was courteous and the place was clean and fairly organized.
Had to get my corner bodega fix with a classic bacon, egg, & cheese (felt like a hug!) and their breakout pho 1 sandwich (soooo flavourful, actually spicy, we love the pain!!) We were almost overwhelmed by the gigantic menu but with how good the sandwiches are, we are definitely coming back the next time we’re in town! Cheers from Canada :)
July 2024: More of the pho sandwich, still delicious July 2022: I saw their bacon egg and cheese sandwich was listed on an NYC "must-try" list. It was tasty and cheap, though standard, so I don't understand why it was on said list. I also asked a worker what he recommended, he said Pho #1 sandwich, so I got that as well (hot). Roast beef, bean sprouts, basil (a lot!), onion, cilantro, avocado, tomato, hoysin sauce, sriracha. The smell had me thinking of pho before I even bit into it. This really is a special sandwich, it does belong on a must-try list!
So I am not a local New Yorker but I often come up from DC to visit. My main goal when visiting New York however is discovering and devouring delicious food. That being said, my friends and I spent a long weekend in East Village partying it up till 6am each night! I still can't believe we did that. But in the midst of our late night partying, we would stop to refuel by grabbing a deli sandwich at this small bodega. You walk in and there is a wall full of colorful signs describing multiple types of sandwiches you can order. All looked spectacular but on the first night I ordered "The Biden". All the ingredients spoke to me and man what a sandwich! The flavor explosion was incredible with sun dried tomatoes and avocado on a croissant. I forget what my buddies got but they were raving about them too. The next night I got a meatball sub with grilled onions and once again I was in Heaven. We all were. So please keep this small business going strong and check out their sandwiches. All across their walls they have photos with celebrities so clearly they are popular. Thank you Sunny and Annie! Your food was one of the best highlights of our trip.
If you're looking for a bodega with fantastic sandwiches, look no further than this spot. My husband and I shared a Pho 10 Sandwich with Bulgogi. The sandwich was huge so you can easily split one. I loved everything about it. It had a bit of a kick too. I recommend taking your sandwich over to the garden across the street to eat. There were plenty of other sandwiches on the menu I wanted to try so I'd gladly come back.
Sunny and Annie's is very much a 24/7 neighborhood gem--come for the everyday corner shop convenience...but stay for the sandwiches (and order one!). this small family-owned store has been serving residents and visitors to the EV for years. the corner store is packed with a deli counter, snacks and candy, some grocery items, household goods and more. there are so many sandwiches on the handwritten menu. there is literally something for everyone from hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, wraps, and more. some sandwiches are named celebrities, politicians, etc. i have had a number of different sandwiches and have barely made a dent in the list. never had a bad sando experience here. my go-to basic sandwich is the tuna salad hero which is packed with protein/tuna, fresh lettuce and tomatoes--all cradled in quality hero roll. tastes great, always filling, and never fishy. tuna hero is $9 + tip the owners + deli guys are super nice. treat them well.
Good deli that also makes delicious sandwiches. Although this deli is over priced as the rest of the bodegas in town, it does make great fresh sandwiches that I would certainly recommend. Also, they deliver for amounts >$10, which is amazing if you are sitting on the rooftop a block away and just ran out of beer, you can call them for beer delivery without having to leave your barbeque. What an amazing deal!
Great little place with a variety of good sandwiches. Had my go to, a chicken cutlet and friend had a turkey hero. Both were good.
I've been coming here for years! I've always loved how extra they are with sandwiches.... but lately things have gotten more expensive and less impressive. Last time I got a bacon sandwich I literally got bacon bits instead
Sunny and Annie's is like an old friend. It's always there for me at 4AM when drunk and in need of a pizza bagel with pepperoni. Sometimes it's really good, sometimes not as good. But it's okay, cause it's 4AM, and it's a pizza bagel. I frequent this bodega/deli mainly in the wee hours of the morning. Too many higher quality food options to choose from during the day. It serves its purpose, though, and I hope it stays forever. As for the pho sandwich, it definitely tastes like pho. Ask for light on the hoisin. It's a bit too rich otherwise. Space is small and packed to the brim with goods. Try not to block traffic, and you'll be just fine. Service is okay; though, some seem to disagree. I've never had any issues. Maybe because we're like old friends. We just get each other.
Really busy. Good looked delicious. Had to go somewhere else to eat because of line
The sandwich combinations are almost more dazzling for their imagination than their actual taste. I tried the pho 11 and personally thought there was just too much going on to understand or taste each components - things like cantaloupe, cucumber, etc. However, it was still tasty, and this was one of dozens of unique sandwiches, so I'll definitely be going back to try more. As a regular bodega, it's also really good, and efficiently run.
Place is run like the soup store from the infamous Seinfeld episode. Direct staff who want to you to place the order, then leave as quickly as possible. If you don’t follow the process, the wrath of the cashier you shall face. However, play by the rules and you get a good sandwich. Prices range from $9-13 for those. Okay for Manhattan corner store. It’s a solid late-night option for food - just follow the process.
Great place for an inventive, delicious sandwich. I'm partial to the pho sandwiches but every one I've tried has been great. The deli guys make your sandwich quickly and the prices are reasonable. Pro-tip: on a nice day, go eat in the park across the street.
Sandwiches are fire! They got a lot of options to pick from. This is a go to late night spot in the neighborhood. Definitely try it out. Be warned though BYON (bring your own napkins), I've been in street fights easier than trying to get a decent amount of napkins from the guy behind the counter 😂.
Est. 1997 **Visited during COVID pandemic Layout/atmosphere *NYC corner store/bodega/deli; very tidy Food/drink *Bacon, egg & cheese on roll (toasted) - good *Pho #1/Pho Real (roast beef, bean sprouts, basil, red onion, cilantro, avocado, tomato, hoisin sauce & sriracha chili) on toasted roll - Good; spicy; stuffed sandwich; lots of vegetables/crunch *Chocolate chip cookie [Bakemaster - Westbury NY] - good; big; soft
Delicious delicious. The menu is definitely overwhelming for me because there’s just so many options. I got The Parlor with pesto. They wanted to charge an extra 75 cents on top of an already expensive sandwich for the pesto. The sandwiches are bomb but the prices are pretty high. Nevertheless, pretty worth it. I’ve heard the bulgogi sandwich is quite popular.
I love this deli and have been coming here for years for the Pho sandwich and others. I ventured onto a new select for today and 'The George' did not disappoint. The abundance of watercress in tandem with the roast beef had the sandwich eat like a meal of steak and veg. The touch of horseradish is an amazing condiment. Highly recommended hero! (for two)
Nice deli with a lot of creative sandwich options to grab for lunch in Tompkins Sq Park. I was feeling hungry so got a sausage egg and cheese along with their Pho #1. Both were pretty solid, served hot and I loved the flavor combo of the pho with cilantro, basil avocado and sliced beef. Only small point was I felt both could’ve used a bit more seasoning. Still, pretty good for a lunch in the park on a nice day.
The sandwich I got was good but the 3 stars is for the credit card fee. It's illegal in New York State to charge customers for using a credit card as a form of payment. I will be reporting them to the Division of Consumer Protection.
Used to be good, now the sandwiches are smaller and cost more than ever. They are asking for $18, basically 20 with tax, for basic sandwiches that are $10 elsewhere. Service is garbage, extremely slow with regularly bad attitudes. No online platform presence, won't deliver even a few blocks away due to "too many people of color", and even if you call and order pickup you will be forced to wait 30 mins anyway since they won't make it in advance of your arrival. Great idea, but execution makes the place pointless.
The food is good, but the prices are outrageous. This deli should be on 42nd Street rather than Avenue B, where it would fit right in with all the other price gouging tourist traps.
Ugh I hate to give even a slightly bad review but I’m done with this place. Been in the neighborhood awhile and usually don’t pop in here until I’m desperate because honestly they just never get your order right. Giving it two stars because the food is genuinely good but it’s just annoying how if you don’t order from their specific selections, your order will be wrong on purpose. No matter how simple it is. I get that it’s a neighborhood fav but I’ve been disappointed every time I’ve come here. Sucks.
Great sandwiches but horrible service. Was overcharged by $10 and they wouldn’t refund me :(
Used to love this place BUT times have changed. 1 egg on a roll with black pepper is $4 !! Sausage, egg, cheese -$7 and the sausage is just a microwaved patty!! $3 for a coffee i made myself. NEVER EVER AGAIN. Took photo with receipt but qont let me post it :(
21$ for a pack of Parliaments regular. Don't go here they will rip you off!
I literally love crispy chicken caesar wraps. Somehow this place managed to mess it up. I ordered 2 wraps, both came out completely different. Opened the bag to see an unmixed wrap, without the crispy chicken or the extra dressing (that I requested), and one even came out on a spinach wrap (that nobody asked for). Also tomatoes on it when it’s not even on the menu list? Not sure what was going on behind the counter… it wasn’t even busy. Saw trippie redd on the celebrity wall and my heart goes out to him to have to experienced this “New York deli”.
I brought a couple friends with me after the US open tennis and we got 3 sandwiches for about $60. It was late and we were super hungry. My two friends got their sandwiches but this place gave me a completely wrong one. It was also dry and had tons of onions, which I’m allergic to. I would have called after we got home a half hour later but I wasn’t sure what the name of the place was. This experience ruined our night. I went back to the area the next day and found the place to tell them what happened. I showed the manager a pic of the wrong sandwich and she said that since I waited more than 12hrs, she wouldn’t do anything except make me pay half for a new sandwich. Terrible customer experience and not even that good of sandwiches. If you do order, make sure you open each of your sandwiches to verify they got it right or else they wont do anything for you. They definitely lost a a long time local here and i’ll make sure to tell my friends to avoid this place. Kinda dirty inside too so it’s probably best.
