Came here with my friend for lunch. The lunch special is an amazing value and the portions were huge! The owner was very attentive and taught me something new about how to enjoy the food with the sides. Great music and quaint for lunch. It's rare to get such a great value from a lunch special! We even needed a box. I will definitely be coming back for dinner as well.
First time been here, we really like the food, very delicious, rich of flavor, we tried chef’s tasting menu, which covers many favorite dishes. Talked to the owner who has been there for 30 years, he mentioned two chefs who have been worked there 26 and 28 years. Not easy to run a good business for such a long time.
Had a table for 5, family reunion. We each ordered different dishes, and all were tasty. There are vegan & vegetarian choices as well as chicken & seafood. Beer & wine were available with generous pour, and reasonable prices. Service was helpful and attentive. Easy parking if you are lucky like we were. Decor was interesting and appealing.
I was in the neighborhood so I stopped by for lunch. I had Salad and Tandoori Salmon. The salad was organic, it was light and delicious and not laden with too much ranch or fat. The tandoor salmon was really moist, delicious and served sizzling. Tandoori salmon came with basmati rice and aloo palak saag. That saag was light yet flavorful. Overall a very nice meal. I think it is a must try if you are in the area.
Lovely lunch menu in a peaceful setting. Generous portions, new things to try, popular standards, and a variety of vegetarian options.
Great food and hospitality. The owner of the restaurant took the order and he explained the history of the hotel which is been there from past 30 yrs. Must try!
Serving best Indian foods in Berkeley! Due to COVID-19 hours and menus are limited but not the quality of food!!

We came with group of 13 ppl on Wednesday night. We ordered portobello mushroom, Lamb chops, Tikka Masala and Naan. Everything was so delicious. Our group really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service. We will surely be returning again.
I Ordered the special (vegetarian) dinner which had options to choose from- I had the vegetable samosa , spinach kofta, nan. Chutneys , basmati rice, and rice pudding for dessert. Plenty of food and at $28.00 quite a good deal everything was delicious. One minor issue was annoying. One or two fruit flies kept buzzing around me. Management should remediate this ASAP
I loved this place. A bunch of us from the Empathy Center in Santa Barbara went there for lunch last week. It was wonderful. The people who served us were bright-eyed, efficient, cheerful, patient, and helpful. The food was sublime. I had the kofta, two kinds of daal, a bunch of beautiful sauces, and pistachio ice cream. It was sublime. Also, you could choose your level of spicy for all of the dishes:)

The maitre d' was quite helpful in understanding the various dishes. We were there on a Friday night but still got plenty of attention from the maitre d' and the rest of the wait staff. The restaurant was not too noisy, so conversations were easy to understand. We started with the papadam which came with a mint-cilantro sauce. We also split an appetizer of tandoori scallops. The papadam was very fresh and crispy but a little too salty. The scallops were under cooked (as usual, but we had asked that they be cooked more towards "medium"). The sauce accompanying the scallops was very bland, having almost no taste at all. We got a glass of the Edelzwicker wine, which is a not-too-sweet blend of riesling, gewurz and pinot gris. That is a good complement to the spicy entrees. Our main entrees were Chicken Tikka Masala & the Chicken Biriyani. We had asked for a mild version of the biriyani but it was still pretty peppery. The raita helped lower the spice heat though. The chicken tikka masala was milder but the chicken itself was a little bit dry. The plain naan was very fresh and was a good way to get the last bits of the masala sauce.
Mainly good food, however the lamb chops were not very flavorful. Other than that, everything was really good. The ambience was ok but the staff was pretty friendly.
Love this place! Refreshing take on Indian cuisine coupled with dainty plating, soothing music and ambient lighting. Truly a fine dining experience. We ordered veg samosa, eggplant dish (the name escapes me - jaam something), and prawn curry with Goan spices among other things. The chutneys served with the food and palak curry was one of the best ihave had in the East bay. The selection of icecream and herbals is decent. Must visit!

I was the youngest patron in this establishment (41F, single). The portion sizes are great! The food isn't authentic 🇮🇳, but it's pretty good. Lamb Biryani was good but a bit dry. Sabzi Rangarang was good. It's a bit pricey. Not super crowded spot, might return.
I don't eat Indian food often, but really enjoyed both dishes ordered: the mixed Tandoori platter and the Chicken Pistachio Korma. I ordered both of these as very mild spice level and there was no spice, but was warned the low medium spice may be a bit spicy. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet with only 2 other tables filled. Serving sizes were good (these two dishes were shared among 2 people and we finished them without being stuffed or hungry). Prices were a tad high as the total bill including tax and tip, and one drink (Salty Lassi) was $70. The staff was very attentive and friendly.

Indian places are hard for me rats highly, I find them over priced and often not very good. Ajanta was on the upper end of process t even for Indian food, and really only two out of four dishes we had were excellent. The other two were borderline good. The naan was fine, but the chapati was not the best, and neither was the alloo paratha - the aloo paratha was actually bad. There are much better Indian restaurants to go in the Bay area and the Berkely area.

I have been coming here for many years, although not recently.I was very disappointed. The service was disorganized, the raita was very salty (! ). The papadum were oily and not crisp. Very surpringly mediocre. It will probably be a long while before I try them again
The food here was average. Tandoori lamb was tough, chicken was dry, salmon and prawns lacked flavor. Chana masala was average and over spiced for medium. I would not return

I’ve been to many Indian restaurants and I’ve even been to India so I know what good Indian food should taste like. Unfortunately, the food here was not good, and the service wasn’t any better. The flavors were off and didn’t feel authentic. Very disappointing overall.

Probably the most bland flavorless Indian food I have ever tasted. The staff was nice but slow to provide assistance. Decor is nice. Prices on a very high end, completely unjustified based on the food quality.
