Absolutely love this Thai restaurant! The flavors are so authentic — it really reminds me of what I had back in Asia. Their Hainanese chicken rice is amazing — tender chicken, flavorful sauce, and perfect rice. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and definitely a place I’d love to come back to!
Green curry was just the right amount of spicy w/ lots of veggies that were cooked just enough to still taste fresh. Everything was cooked perfectly and came out super quick!
Delightful little place tucked away off San Pablo, this restaurant sets the standard for what comfort Thai restaurant experience ought to be. It took us a while to be seated, and then served, but the anticipation was worth it. The restaurant was overflowing with the aroma of galangal and lemongrass. It's one of the few restaurants that has an entire vegetarian menu, which made my decisions much harder! The curry puffs are definitely worth it - little Thai samosas that melt in your mouth. I wish it came with a chutney or a sauce, but they held their own. We got the tempura fried yam and taro root and they didn't disappoint either. The little side salad with cucumbers and onions in a sweet sauce was top notch! The lemongrass aroma was so overpowering I had to get the Tom Yum soup. It was good, not great. Somehow the taste didn't live up to the aroma. We got the tofu in sweet peanut sauce and it was decadent! I don't remember the last time I had a Thai dish so well balanced - sweet and just spicy enough to feel the burn. At this point I was too stuffed and even though the dessert menu looked interesting, I had to skip it.
I have been here many times trying new dishes because everything is authentic. Everything I have eaten here, I have also eaten in Thailand many times; each dish is so delicious and it takes me right back to Thailand with every bite.
We both try the same Manu but a bit different with regular menu and Vegetarian menu we order Papaya Salad Loas Style and Papaya Salad J Egg Noddle with Yellow Cerry<Kao_Soi> beef and Tufu J. Fried Taro and sweet potatoes. And my favorite drink is Thai Ice tea with 🍋 lemon🤗. And staff are so nice and great service. I recommend Anchalee Thai restaurant for your future ✅️
Nice Thai restaurant near Berkeley University with courteous staff. Staff are Thai. Food was tasty and fresh. Pad Thai noodles came out a little clumped together- it should be served right after its made instead of waiting for all dishes. Large portions. Green curry was good and the Somtam salad was good
This is our first time at this place. The place has a good number of tables and clean. Servers are very friendly and attentive. Food is great! Especially love the Organic Special I had with brown rice. My husband's dish Khao Soi (beef curry noodles) was also tasty with enough spice to it. Will definitely return again.
Beautiful small restaurant with great tasting food. Food came out hot and quick. The portions are large. Staff was very inviting.
Small restaurant, but no less exciting. The atmosphere of this restaurant is very soothing; Efficient use of space, soft pleasant music, and close proximity dining where you can not only smell your own food, but of those around you. Speaking of the food, no matter what you order, the food is always fantastic. Our family had Moo Yang (Marinated pork with Veggies), House Chicken Curry, Fried rice plate with prawns, and, for desert, fried banana with coconut ice cream. In addition to the delicious taste of the food, the presentation of the food really begged you to take a picture of it. Pictures posted with review.
Our visit made our lovely Sunday afternoon just that much more lovely. The atmosphere is beautifully accented with care, and the soft jazz music created a soothing chill vibe. The food was beautiful, prepared and served with care. This was my dessert sticky rice with mango. The black/purple rice was a pleasant surprise. I definitely recommend this place. ** a side note is the bathroom is shared with a neighboring restaurant and definitely not reflective of the vibe inside this place.
the tom kha soup slaps!!!!!!! it is so good. the mango chili salad omg…. the flavor combo is KRAZY 😋😋😋😋
Fresh, delicious, good value. Pretty dishes and friendly service in a cute room with lots of light during the day. Larb gai was a nice amount of spicy. They even made a Thai tea with coconut milk instead of dairy milk for me, and it was delicious. Nice for a date or going with a friend, or even alone. I would make a reservation for a group larger than 4.

Tiger steak on lunch menu super delicious ! Well priced!

I recently visited this charming Thai restaurant in Berkeley and it exceeded all my expectations. The menu is well-balanced and offers vegan options. I tried the green curry with tofu, which was perfectly spiced and rich with coconut flavor. The pad Thai had the ideal balance of sweet, tangy, and savory, and the portion was generous. Even the fresh spring rolls were a highlight — crisp, vibrant, and served with a delicious peanut dipping sauce. What really stood out was the attention to detail. Every dish tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable about ingredients, and happy to accommodate dietary preferences. If you're looking for delicious Thai food that doesn’t compromise on authenticity or flavor, this place is a must-try. I’ll definitely be returning!
This is a nice, cozy, clean, spot in West Berkeley. It has a lot of vegan/vegetarian options. I ordered fried rice, vegetable curry, tempura veggies, and curry puffs. Everything was tasty and well seasoned. The medium heat level was perfectly firey. Staff was friendly, with efficient service and the meal came pretty quickly for freshly prepared food. I will return.
This is the place to enjoy Thai food. I've been coming here for few years. No comparison to other thai places I tried. Moderately priced and yet you get Five Star Priced restaurants. Service and ambiance is very good to admire. I highly recommend.
Amazing food & customer service! I didn't read the fine print and accidentally ordered the pad Thai which comes with shrimp. I'm allergic to shrimp so they made me chicken pad thai, no questions asked! Love them!
Excellent Thai food, great atmosphere, and really kind staff! The curries are all delicious, especially the green curry. The pad Thai is also excellent.
Anchalee is hands-down my favorite Thai restaurant in the Bay Area. The food is always consistently amazing — every single visit delivers the same great flavors I’ve come to love. The staff are warm, friendly, and make you feel right at home. Plus, there’s easy, free street parking. My favorite dishes? The crab fried rice is a standout — generously topped with sweet, tender crab meat, and the sauce makes it sing. The Penang curry bursts with flavor, with beef that’s melt-in-your-mouth tender. The curry puffs are dangerously good: the crust is so flaky I could easily eat three in a row. The seafood hot plate is always fresh and loaded with generous portions of shrimp, scallops, and mussels. And to end on a sweet note, the mango sticky rice paired with coconut ice cream is pure perfection. Anchalee is truly a hidden gem, and I’m so grateful it’s right here in Berkeley.

This is my favorite restaurant. They are so nice and helpful, and the food is consistently delicious. They deserve more stars than I can give. I wish they had more locations throughout the bay so I could eat more!
Small and cosy restaurant, hardly noticeable from the street. Large menu, with plenty of vegetarian options. Rather sophisticated and with good products. But the cursor was way too high on the sweet side for us.

Three dishes Best was curried lettuce wrap Spicy pork with peppercorns was good but not great. Eggplant and veggies were excellent. Pork was meh. Peppercorn on stem interesting and good Rare beef salad with rice powder was disappointing beef was well done and on the verge of old (recooked I would guess. Balance in dressing seemed off I should have sent it back but didn’t. They lost points because we realized after we left that the waitress overcharged us by at least 50 cents for every single dish. Including charging full price for brown rice which is listed as a 75 cents upgrade with the peppercorn pork dish. Overall 3.5
