Avis sur Korean Superette Berkeley
At first, the menu felt a bit overpriced, but after trying the food, I understood the pricing. The bossam was very tender, and the banchan paired with it really well (I especially liked the mushroom and seaweed). The jang pasta was also excellent and felt quite new and unique to me. One downside was that both my partner and I had no internet signal inside the restaurant (we use different carriers), which was a bit inconvenient. Not a cheap place, but definitely worth a visit.
Restaurant and Korean mini-mart that has a wide variety of Korean fusion foods. Recommend their Jang Pasta, but they also have an amazing lunch special. Portions are rather large, so one dish could possibly be good for two people. They have both an outdoor and indoor space and the restaurant gets quite crowded around 6 PM, so watch out for that! Service is fast and they do a good job refilling the banchan!
Ordered to my office via doordash. It was only warm when I got it, but not restaurant fault. Food was outstanding, price was not bad for the portion and Korean to boot. The beef stew was my favorite though. Definitely would order this again. Needless to say I was stuffed afterwards. If your not a big eater, maybe could split this with someone.
Delicious dinner on the wood and leaf covered patio! We ordered the rice cakes and silken tofu, and it all tasted fresh and homemade. The portions were generous and enough for leftovers. The service was also very kind! We went on a Tuesday night, and there were plenty of tables available without reservation, but given what a positive experience we had, we’d love to see the place be more full. Now one of my new favorite spots on Solano Ave✨
So many excellent dishes. The back patio seating is quite nice in warmer weather.
You're pretty much guaranteed that the food is going to be decent if the restaurant is on Solano Ave. I liked the concept of the items in the store also doubling as decorations to look at while you are dining. The people were also nice and welcoming.
I’ve eaten here several times now, and I love the ambience and service every time. The food is amazing as well, although I will say some dishes are better than the other. My favorite is the jang pasta, it is absolutely delicious. The side dishes are also very tasty.
Delicious lunch on the shady patio, delicious and generous portions of authentic doenjang stew, bulgogi bento box, and k-salad. Fast, friendly service, too!
Clean, cozy, and charming eatery and mini-market tucked away on Solano Ave. The restaurant is back behind the kitchen and includes a cute patio (with heaters!) that features a gorgeous magnolia tree. The steaming spicy Korean soups were the perfect meals to enjoy during a chilly January evening. I had the doenjangjjigae (spicy soy bean beef stew) and the spicy fried tofu — both came out steaming and maintained their flavor even as things cooled off. Everything was high quality. The service was quick and attentive and we had no problem splitting the check across two cards. They were very friendly without being over attentive, giving us the space we needed for a good dinner catch up between friends. This place is a longtime favorite of my Berkeley friend and I’m so glad I finally got a chance to try it with her. I’ll be back again soon — and might grab some Korean groceries (like kimchi and marinated bulgogi) on my way out!
The food was delicious. The service was very good. Just that they seemed a bit short-staffed given how busy they were. If you like spicy food, then I am pretty sure everything on the menu is good. They are very thoughtful about dietary restrictions as well (e.g., kimchi is vegan).
Very tasty food! I enjoy eating on their back deck. I have tried several of their menu items and enjoyed them all.
I have been a huge fan of Korean cuisine and this restaurant offers authentic Korean meals. I went here twice already within two weeks, ordering spicy pork belly and black bean rice cake with veggies and chicken. Both of them were delicious! The pork belly had depth spicy flavor with easy-to-chew texture. It came with boiled crunchy broccolis and crispy-outside and soft-inside gyoza. The black bean rice cake was my fav! The rice cakes were chewy soft and fun to munch with thicc flavorful sauces. AND the side dishes came in quite some variety and they were done well! Crunchy bean sprouts, my fav was mushroom in red sauce, seaweed, and garlicy kimchi. It also has iconic Korean snacks and all the Buldak spicy noodles. Definitely worth it to dine in and shop!!
We enjoyed another great lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. We had the bulgogi bento and the pork cutlet curry. The bulgogi was tender and had an excellent smoky flavor. I enjoyed the miso soup. The pork cutlet curry was very flavorful and was presented thoughtfully. The service was prompt, considerate and friendly. We always enjoy dining outside here.

Beautiful backyard, beautifully plated food and amazing price for the variety and amount of food you get. Just wish food was a little less sweet and I’d come more often!

A cool mixed Korean market and restaurant. The food is common Korean dishes one find in the USA but modified to be somewhat upscale, considering the location in tony parts of town. They have indoor seating and a wonderful patio.
Such a fun unique place to dine and shop! It’s a small set up and the walls are lined with shelves and freezers to shop for food. Need to run in to the market? Suuuure thing. Wanna have a cute date night? Cute spot. The garden area is such a vibe too! Not to mention the food is yummy. I love coming back here whenever I’m in the area!

What a lovely community place for this to have lunch. Great great place to go. Good food. Absolutely delicious. I tend to have all my work lunches here as I'm a work from home and it's convenient but it's also good food and gets the conversation going because there's something to talk about before we get to business 🙂
We had a very nice lunch. We sat in the courtyard, which is very inviting. The portion of the dishes are huge, with lots of meat. It is a unique place where they also sell groceries and the groceries line up of the walls of the restaurant. When you enter the building, you don't realize that they have a very nice seating area with the groceries in the back. We also bought some homemade Kimchi and snacks to take. We live in the Peninsula and we will definitely go back to Berkeley to eat here again.
Very cute back patio seating. I would say small dog-friendly as it was a little tight. Food was good. Normally, there will be at least one to two banchans that I am not too big of a fan of, but I liked five out of five of their banchans. The supermarket part sells mostly packaged goods, but they also have some refrigerated banchan and prepared foods for sale.
Had a great meal here. It is a restaurant and also a little market. Bright me back to South Korea for a moment! The banchan was great, bossam was so good, and the gochujang braised pork ribs were so tasty! I would definitely return!
I love the food here. Came here about 3 times already. It's usually really busy and have to wait for a table for dinner, because the place is very small but I don't mind that. I usually order ramen, especially curry ramen which is creamy and flavorful. This is such a comfort dish especially on a cold winter night. The portions are very generous as well. I would also recommend trying their teas especially honey twenty grain tea and roasted burdock. They are amazing, earthy and creamy. One thing I don't like here and they should change is the fact that the appetizer comes with the main dish at the same time. It's called the appetizer for a reason and should come BEFORE the main dish, otherwise what's the point. This has happened consistently each time. Other than this, everything else is good.

I enjoy the food here! And the atmosphere, especially the patio. Note that the hours posted to Google and on the door are not correct. I arrived at 9:10 pm on a Friday with a friend straight from the airport for a late dinner. We were told the kitchen was closed, despite the 10 pm close time advertised.
To start off, this place is so cute! The food options looked amazing and the deli side is nice. My main gripe was the Rose ddukboki. Flavor was good BUT there’s only like 6 pieces of rice cake in there and HUGE mounds of fish cake. This dish is 70% fish cake and I’m not exaggerating. So if you want a rose fish cake dish with a side of rice cake order this dish. I just hate when restaurants are being stingy with ingredients and it was clear they were using a ton of fish cake as a filler in the dish.
We’ve been going to their sister store down the street and love the food there. Recently, the staff informed us about Superette so we thought we’d give it a try. We ordered the rice bowl with spicy pork and spicy ramen. The rice in the rice bowl was undercooked and the pork while somewhat spicy, was overwhelmingly sweet. I rarely send food back but this was the rare occasion that I did. I asked for light sauce and it was still pretty heavy when it came back but the rice was cooked properly. The spicy ramen appeared to a package of instant noodle fancied up with fresh vegetables and a house soup base. We also ordered the simple chicken which was quite oily even for fried chicken. The batter they used held way too much of the oil. To their credit, they did comp the rice bowl. The place is nice but the food is lacking.
