Avis sur Milyar Cafe Berkeley
Good speciality coffee with clean, cozy and ornate environment! I was firstly attracted by the exterior of the cafe when we were driving. It’s a Middle Eastern-inspired cafe that sells Turkish coffee and pastries. We tried the ice Yemeni latte and ice hibiscus tea. The latte is unique with flavor of cinnamon and cardamom. It’s aromatic, smooth, and not too sweet. The tea is refreshing, lightly sour and naturally sweet. Love them both! And I wish the tea is larger, so refreshing!
I kept trying to find this place by searching “Yemeni coffee” with no luck. Had to go Sherlock Holmes on Google Maps to find it. Got a chicken roll and it was soft and succulent. Not spicy. I feel savory Arab food has all the flavor of Indian food without the heat. Dripping this review to remind myself to come back here.
My favorite coffee shop lately, I’ve been a regular for the past few months now. This Arabic rooted coffee shop is beautiful with plush seating and elaborate decor that makes you feel comfortable and you’re somewhere special. I love that each seat is special and there’s even large group booth seating. They also have board games available. I often come to work and there’s quite a bit of outlets to charge your items and their Wi-Fi is fairly good most times. One thing that stood out was also their workers, they’re super nice and welcoming no matter if it’s morning or late night. Every drink I got was good from the Yemeni Latte to the Pistachio Latte (my usual). I’ve also really enjoyed their Refreshers! Their pastries are also a highlight, serving cheesecakes to baklavas to assortments I’m still working on trying.
This is first time such a fancy cafe. This Arabic cafe is so fancy that almost everything is gold plated. We rose latte and rose cake, honey cake and lavender latte. They are delicious and should definitely try.
Absolutely gorgeous coffee shop! I love the cozy booths to sit in and it’s actually very quiet inside even though it’s on a busy road. Lots of space to sit and work and the pasties looked amazing. I had a rose latte that was smooth, creamy, and the rose flavoring came through nicely.
There have been a lot of new Arab style coffee shops open in Berkeley/North Oakland and this is one is great. The coffee is very reasonably priced, and they have very many colorful Arabic pastries. The Baklava is huge! The staff are very friendly. What I enjoy the most is the location and interior. The shop is on a corner surrounded by large windows, so there is a lot of light. I love that they have seats and a counter along the window, and there are flowers out front to enjoy looking at. A great place to sit and chat. They are also open later, so this is an awesome place to work/study as well. Come check this place out.
Milyar Coffee came to the rescue tonight! We needed a little something to power through a few more hours of work, and their Yemeni Lattes were just the ticket. Smooth, flavorful, and definitely provided the extra focus we needed. The Biscoff cheesecake was also incredibly rich and delicious, a perfect little indulgence. Highly recommend Milyar for a quality caffeine fix and tasty treats!
Delicious fresh pastries and sweets, perfect coffee drinks. My faves: Bee Hive bread and a Yemeni latte. Complex flavors worth enjoying. Expect reasonable delays as a new place gets up to speed. It’s worth the wait!
What a beautiful spot! Milyar Cafe is such a cozy and welcoming place. The atmosphere is peaceful, and the service is top-notch. Big shoutout to Ahlam, one of the sweetest baristas I’ve met she made us an amazing Adeni chai that was full of flavor and comfort. Definitely coming back soon!
This place is special! Comfy chairs, plentiful plugs, and incredible drinks. Amanda helped me out, she was incredibly sweet walking me through their numerous latte options. She even ended up making me a 16 oz even though I ordered a 12oz. My chai was soo YUMMY and definitely made with love. Don’t hesitate to check Milyar out if you’re hoping to get some work done, catch up with some friends, or just want to enjoy some solo time! You won’t regret it! 🩷
10/10 service from the family owned business. Very clean atmosphere with nice lighting and decorations. Bathrooms clean also. Nice booths to sit with the whole family. Sweets are tasty and the tea is perfect to drink on a cold Berkeley evening
Came in here last night with a couple friends and this place is so cool. We tried a few different desserts and every one of them was amazing. We also tried a Yemenade which was unique and delicious. It was kind of like a lime pie in a glass. 🥧 Really happy to support this new business and got to chat with them a bit. Super friendly service and beautiful atmosphere. If you’re in the area be sure to stop in! They’re open from 7am to 8pm!
Such a beautiful cafe, amazing food/drinks, and service! The red velvet cake is insanely good, and the staff is very sweet. I had ordered a drink and did not like it, they gave me another one for free + a free dessert for the inconvenience. Extremely kind service, would definitely recommend!

Workers are super cool, progressive people and the place is really nice for hanging out. The drinks are affordable too. Had the pistachio milk cake, it was reaaaaally good! Could have been a bigger slice though.

I had high hopes for my visit, but unfortunately, it fell short. The table was dirty, with sticky coffee residues from a previous customer, and it wobbled so much that I struggled to cut my food without spilling my tea. While the Yemeni tea had a lovely aroma, it was served in a cup that was quite dirty, covered in oily smudges outside. I was too bothered to enjoy. The fork I received had bent tines like crooked teeth, which contributed to a rundown experience, especially considering how nice the exterior looked. I was with a friend, so I decided not to make a scene since it was her favorite café. On a positive note, the sweet desserts were excellent, although the savory pastries were just average.
Yemeni Latte was amazingly infused with cinnamon and other herbs. Adeni tea was good too with its strong flavour. Baklava was delectable. We also tried the pistachio milk cake (tres leches). The space is pretty spacious and ambience is good for a sit down tea/coffee. Parking around is limited.

Coffee is great, they only have soy milk and almond milk (no oat milk). However, lacking lots of yemeni cafe staples like rose cake and pastries. Service is spotty and drinks take a while, and are not given in a for-here glass like advertised. However, it’s a really cute place to study/do work

Service and atmosphere is good but they have zero light roast coffee the second I came in and none of the items in their coffee menu like pour over or French press is available. You can only get specialty coffee or espresso stuff. Not cool for a beautiful cage like this! Their specialty coffee is ok at best. I've had better ones from that Yemeni coffee shop on Broadway and 52? Idk. But, again, service and vibes are great here. Amazing people!

I thought I’d give this place another try, but I was disappointed again. The cheese samosa was tasty but was floppy and a bit chewy. The service is PAINFULLY slow. There’s only one guy serving and taking orders and it was painful to see. I couldn’t finish the coffee I had here last time because it was far too bitter. The mango Arabia was delicious but it was really just a mango milkshake. The decor /interier is beautiful but sadly not well kept. Some seats were stained and dirty. I hate leaving a poor review for a local business, and really hope to see them improve.

I cannot recommend this place. The service was poor, the barista was not friendly and had an attitude. The brown sugar cinnamon coffee was just okay--nothing special--but the food was a letdown. The potato pastry was completely soggy and sad. The real dealbreaker, though, was the restroom. It was dirty, and there was absolutely no toilet paper or soap. Basic hygiene is a bare minimum for a coffee shop, and Milyar Cafe failed that test. I won't be coming back.
