Super fresh banh mi with organic tofu! (4/5 Green Stars) I wish I had tried this place earlier! I had the banh mi with organic tofu for lunch and the total cost, including tax and a 20% tip was $10.50! I was ravenous and had some concerns that it may not be enough – or come fast enough! However, the lady who took my order prepped the sandwich in as much time as it took me to take a few photos. Also, there was really a lot of tofu in the sandwich – two thick layers of it – so in the end it was pretty darn filling. There were several memorable things about the sandwich, which I ate without any distraction even though I would normally read while eating. The bread was at a perfect state of crispiness – like a proper French roll – very light and also lightly toasted. The crunchy veggies – the daikon in particular, added a freshness to it that counterbalanced the umami of soy and tofu. I’ve only had a couple of banh mi sandwiches in my time but this one was not only the best so far but has also set a pretty high bar to measure others against. I’m giving the Sidewalk Street Food 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact. It’s a woman-owned and run business that offers affordable food in a fairly unaffordable neighborhood. Every dish option – banh mi, salad bowl, pho, and spring rolls all had a tofu option. Some of the other options – chicken and pork – are among the more sustainable choices for meat eaters. However, beef and shrimp are among the worst options Sidewalk loses a star for that. My sandwich was pretty much zero-waste in that it was wrapped in a sheet of paper and delivered in a reusable basket.
Staying at the Claremont this week, found this little hidden gem and it is amazing. I call it hidden because even though I could see it on the map I'm bad at navigation and had a hard time finding it. I only got the original sandwich as I have never had one before. It was absolutely amazing and I hope to stop by again before leaving. Their menu prices seem unheard of in this area and they were slammed busy when I went for lunch. They did move fast though.
Nice place with limited seating but also convenient to-go options. Healthy tasty food such as pho soups and other Vietnamese dishes. I ordered a salad bowl with chicken that comes with tasty peanut sauce this time and it was great as expected.
Serving the best Pho, and Banh Mi In this area sidewalk street food is swinging for the fences, with large portions, fresh ingredients, and a super friendly and delightful staff. Highly recommended.
Great taste! Nice small place yet bursting with flavor! Good prices too.
Fast service, large portions, fresh ingredients. My only reservation is that they didn’t serve flat rice noodles with the Pho but I am picky.
this place is amazing! the food was delicious and the service was 10/10. so happy i happened to be in the area

Love this place! Cute, peaceful outdoor lunch spot is tucked behind Peet's across from the Claremont hotel. I tried the spring rolls with peanut sauce and they were freshly made and deelish! Staff is friendly and the bahn mi sandwich also looks enticing. Sidewalk recently opened in the spring, and has great selection of Vietnamese lunch bites. YUM.
Excellent pho! Very efficient and fast service. This is a great place for a Vietnamese lunch in Domingo Square, just across the street from the Claremont Hotel. Very clean, and prices are reasonable too.
I’ve been living here for over four years and I just discovered this gem! The salad bowl with tofu is so refreshing on a hot day
What a hidden gem 🤩 Delicious! Best beef pho I have ever had! Cannot wait to come back!!
I love these ladies. They are so gracious and kind to everyone and their food is delightful. Mom and I are regulars and we enjoy every experience.
LOVE this place. The ladies are all so sweet and accommodating. Everything is delicious with large portions. We come every week, can’t get enough!!
Good portions of food given the price. Service is quick. The cooking style is a bit different compared to the pho style that I know of. But still pretty delicious.
Fantastic Bahn Mi. Right outside the tennis entrance to The Claremont. While staying there, it is a welcome option for a delicious quick lunch! I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area.
One of the best Banh Mi I’ve ever had. I like the pork one the best. Good spring rolls and vermicelli as well.
Consistently excellent food. I usually get the bowls or rolls but today I got beef pho and it was delicious. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. Been coming here for years and it’s still so good.

A stones throw from the Claremont Hotel and tucked in a pleasant and quaint alley, an unassuming Vietnamese cafe with nice outdoor seating.

Arrived at 11:30 to have lunch with a friend. We placed our order with no one on line. It was 12:10PM before we got both meals. They were doing a very large takeout order but did not warn us. Our meal ticket was ignored unless we pointedly asked. And ignored again as soon as we returned to our table. The second meal was not what we specified, but by that time all we wanted to do was get out of the place to eat what we could at an outside table. We were not the only frustrated customers. Chaos.
