The food was absolutely incredible. The ribs fell off the bone and the spicy bbq sauce was delicious. The green chili is another must. Macaroni and cheese was good as well. Definitely a must if you’re in the area. Excellent ambience and very clean.
Best pulled pork sandwich I’ve ever had. The dining area is semi-open to the outdoors, and it has UV lamps for sterilizing the air! Very cool. I appreciate that one of the TVs in the dining area just displays a photo slideshow of very happy dogs eating bits of BBQ.
My husband and I have drove past this place the last time we were leaving Mammoth and finally had the chance to try it this past trip! We stop by 30 minutes to close and you're able to place our order with no issues. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich combo and my husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich combo. The food came out fairly quickly. You pump your own sauces so you can decide your spice level. There is plenty of outdoor seating with a small indoor seating section as well. Our sandwiches were really tasty and great quality meat. If you're interested you can also order some tri-tip to go from their vending machine, which I thought was hilarious. Really cute stop for bbq, glad we were able to check it out.
A lovely stop along the road for a satisfying meal. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the tri-tip burger is delicious, highly recommended.
Really great BBQ restaurant. It was very busy when we got there, but we were still able to order and get food in under 10 minutes. Very good food, great atmosphere, lots of seating and parking. Very friendly staff.
This a great experience. The wood truck drives up and dumps a cord of wood at your feet, right on the corner. The staff is friendly and the business is booming.
I stop by this place any time I’m in the area, it’s conveniently located on the road to Mammoth and many other places in the eastern sierras. Definitely be sure to get there early as they sometimes sell out. All of their meats are amazing and their sides are great as well, especially the mac and cheese. Great selection of local beers and soft drinks as well. The owner also seems like a great dude. Highly recommended
We had a fair bit of bbq on our 3 week trip in the U.S., however this was by far the BEST one. We had the platter for 2 person which was more than sufficient. Inside they have a beer station with multiple local beers, highly recommend to enjoy a beer with your food. You can take a seat either inside or outside enjoying the mountain view. If you happen to travel from Yosemite to Las Vegas through death valley this BBQ place is a must.
Takes a lot to impress me on barbecue it's such a hard thing to do this place has got it down I didn't have to put any sauce on those ribs they were falling off the bone and I ordered the six rib dinner but I got more than that.. potato salad was great and so was the mac and cheese highly recommend this place! The state they've raised their prices in my opinion they could raise them again because I paid $25 for a meal that I feel like was worth more to be honest with you I hope they don't raise him but it wouldn't stop me from stopping for sure Best place in town!

On our way up to Mammoth, we saw this barbecue place. As we were going home decided to stop on the way back down. Being from the south I haven’t seen real barbecue in a while, but this place was the real deal. Food was fantastic. The smell of smoking in the air was amazing and the staff couldn’t be nicer.
We had the most Americana dining experience here!! The country music playing, the bbq’s smoking and the lovely staff! Such a fun vibe (we are Australian and thought this was so cool). Quick service, order, then collect and sit where you like!
Ran across Copper Top BBQ on our California road trip. So glad we did! Food was amazing. Meat was cooked perfectly. Mac & Cheese was the best we’ve ever had. My husband has ordered Mac & Cheese at several places since but he has not been able to find anywhere to come close to Copper Top!
Excellent, award winning, barbecue. Walk-up ordering and pick-up at a inside window. The staff is friendly and helpful, particularly if you've never been to the restaurant before. The meats are barbecued on location. Smokers are located out front. There are several picnic tables underneath the patio cover and some trees. There's also an air-conditioned enclosed patio that has several picnic tables inside. Each picnic table has quick wipes to clean the table and maybe your hands.
Copper Top BBQ is so delicious! Highly recommend getting the 1/2 pound trip tip burger it was SO juicy and delicious!! Also got the Tri Tip sandwich and it was AMAZING so tender! Definitely a must stop place if you're a BBQ enthusiast! And if you happen to drive by when they're closed don't worry! They have a BBQ VENDING MACHINE outside with vacuum sealed meats! So cool!

We ordered two pulled pork meals — one came with mac and cheese, which was perfectly cheesy without being over the top. (Pro tip: the chips are Mrs. Vickie’s.) For my second meal, I had the tri-tip… and honestly, it was one of the best I’ve had in years. The smoke and seasoning spoke for themselves — tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. On top of the food, the staff was outstanding. The cashier was super sweet and friendly, making the whole experience even better.

Been wanting to try this food for a long time. Bought tri-tip and pork ribs and took back to camp to enjoy. The pork ribs were the best I've had. That's saying a lot!
Decent experience as a whole at Copper Top. This was on our way to Mammoth, and we had heard this was a spot to stop at. The ribs were really excellent, perfectly smoky and just the right texture. I liked the pulled pork as well. The tri tip and mac and cheese didn't quite do it for me, but that may just be personal preference. I loved all the dog imagery everywhere too!
It was good bbq, without the sweet rub or sauce. You can put their sauce on it after you get your order. We got there for dinner and found a long line. It took about 45 minutes to get to the windows to place our order, and then another 15 minutes until our order was ready. We then took our order back to our motel room to eat, as seating was very limited, as it was too cold to eat outside at the picnic tables. We don't eat much bbq, because of the price, so we may not be the best judges of bbq. I likes the tri tip without any bbq sauce on it. The pulled pork was ok and needed bbq sauce. The chicken sausage was ok. Would I stop here again? Yes, but at a time that isn't so busy, and only for the tri tip.
The meat tasted great along with the Mac and cheese. How ever the sandwiches were way to expsensive for how tiny they were and were just meat and bread. But would recommend if your looking for some great BBQ
Finally made it here after wanting to try it for over a year. It didn't disappoint. The food was good, nice smoke flavor and the staff were are straightforward in their roles. We asked at the service window what they recommended and they said they are most well known for their tri-tip and pork ribs. The tri-tip was cooked perfectly and was moist but the ribs where definitely the better of the two items. Fall off the bone tender, smokey with a slight sweetness and served "dry" to allow you to put however much BBQ sauce on them as you like. Outside seating is picnic tables and they have a small indoor space as well. The only knock/feedback I have is that the slices of tri-tip were a touch too thick for the sandwich as it would have been better to have deli shaved style. I definitely will go back to try their pulled pork sandwiche next time (and get more ribs).
Parking ca be tough, line is long but moves fast. Outdoor seating can be rough due to the heat. Staff is nice and helpful. The ribs meal has a good serving of taste ribs and a large side of choice. The brisket sandwich was ok but the ribs shine. Its a good choice to stop for lunch.

I was coming from Olancha to my hotel in Bishop and had to decide whether to eat (again) at Holy Smokes in Bishop or copper top. I had the tri-tip at Holy Smokes a couple nights before, so I decided to hit Copper Top and bought a lb of the tri-tip and mac n cheese. I'm sorry, but this was the worst tri-tip I've ever had. Tough, chewy, and no crust. In fact, I found this so bad that I immediately ran up to Holy Smokes before they closed so I could get their tritip and Mac and Cheese. To have this side by side with the Copper Top should be an embarrassment to Copper Top. I rarely give less than good reviews, but as someone who takes pride in smoking meat myself, as well as appreciating good BBQ joints, this negative review is well deserved. The staff was fine and service was quick, so this is simply rating their TriTip. The mac-n-cheese was also just Ok... nothing special.
