Lovely space, great vibes, great music, great cocktails selection, super amazing food and great service. Came on a Saturday night and was lucky to snag a table. Definitely come check it out if you're in the area, they know what they're doing. Tim was such an angel, he shared great recommendations with a Patagonia brandy Trukal and I adored the Oh Diane cocktail. So delicious with subtle layers of warning spices. Chef cooks great food with Southeast Asia and Indian and Caribbean flavors. Can't wait to be back.

Absolutely loved this place. Delicious Caribbean-inspired food that didn't hold back on spice or flavor. Simply superb cocktails made by professionals and outstanding service. It's a classy spot for adults to mingle and could totally see a great date night here.

Walked in on a rainy day — what a fortunate find! It turns out this is the bar area of the restaurant, so the food options are somewhat limited. I tried the chicken thighs, and they were super delicious, especially with rice. The drink was also very tasty. I’m taking one star off only because of the limited menu. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this spot to anyone spending a quiet, rainy afternoon alone, maybe waiting for their kid to finish an after-school class.

Everyone was so nice and accommodating. The drinks and food were exquisite and vibrant. Best Jamaican Patty I’ve ever had. I’d go over and over just for that.

I loved the decor of this place! The wallpaper is amazing and it’s a nice, open, eclectic space! Their menu is pretty unique and has an island vibe. The Golden Colada was delicious and the Jamaican Beef Patty was a great snack (very spicy!) service was great, not sure it’s a spot I’d hit up for dinner but definitely for drinks!

All around astounding food! Everything was a great balance between bright and delicious, savory notes. It wasn't just tasty but surprising, where I found myself eating not just because the food was good, but because I found some new detail that I had somehow overlooked in the bite before. Every dish gave offered a few things to discover. This thoughtful approach carried over to the drinks as well. We got a few items off the drinks special which had a good variety. They had it covered from a fruity start to a more whiskey leaning drink I selected for the end of my meal. If you want something more classic, the bartenders clearly have it well in hand and can serve it straight up and even offered up some fun variations for my selection. The bartending and kitchen staff were engaging, attentive, and clearly putting energy into creating a wonderful dining experience for the guests. Really phenomenal all around with a wonderfully intimate ambiance and one I share at the risk that I might have to wait for my seat in the future. Definitely worth at least one trip, but I will likely be adding it to my regular rotation.

The place to be. Great drinks. Excellent bartenders and servers. The food was wonderful and we have attempted to try most things on the menu. It definitely can get loud but it's a happy, friendly environment. Definitely recommend you check this out!

This restaurant just opened a couple months ago with an entirely new concept and menu. The food was absolutely incredible. I loved that they incorporated West Indies and Caribbean ingredients! The milk bread dish with curry butter was delicious and the tandoori chicken thigh was OH MY - so good, super flavorful! The cocktail menu perfectly complimented the food menu. The cocktails were extremely unique. The staff was so well knowledge and kind. This restaurant is great for a date night, dinner with friends and family or even after work drinks! Definitely can't wait to come back and try the other items on their menu!

One of the best elevated casual cocktail bars in Boston. Following a complete renovation last year, Moon Bar has evolved from a casual hangout into a chic, modern cocktail bar with a creative food menu. As a long-time fan of Chef Carl Dooley from Mooncusser, I’ve been eager to try this new spot. At Moon Bar, Chef Nelson Whittingham crafts a wicked menu featuring excellent seafood and innovative dishes inspired by his Jamaican background, and both the food and cocktails were fantastic. Despite it being our first visit, we were lucky to snag perfect seats right in front of Jake, the bartender. Jake was one of the best bartenders I've met in the city. He took great pride in crafting perfectly balanced cocktails and had extensive experience bartending in both Cambridge and Boston. We typically don't order more than three drinks, but he made us want to try everything on the menu. Some of our favorites included the Golden Colada and the 305 Cowboy. While Chef Nelson may not yet be a household name in Boston’s food scene, he delivered dishes that paired perfectly with the cocktails. His creations were mainly divided into two categories: Complex & Aromatic and Robust & Spicy. In the former, standout dishes were the Tuna Crudo and Black Bass. The Tuna Crudo had a fiery kick with its red chili salsa, balanced by aromatic notes of mint and sesame. The Black Bass, served with a side of warm roti, showcased a satisfying interplay of textures. The tender, moist bass was complemented by a crisp peanut mix, with lime juice and pineapple sambal adding just the right amount of complexity to its flavor profile. The Jamaican Beef Patty and Tandoori Chicken Thighs were in the latter category. The Tandoori Chicken Thighs had a robust spice kick, balanced by creamy cucumber raita. The chicken was incredibly juicy and tender, making it my favorite dish from the "hot stuff" to pair sweet the fruity cocktails . Another favorite was the Marinated Halibut, a zesty blend of halibut, avocado, and tomatillo. The real highlight of this dish, however, was the tostones. Given halibut's mild flavor, the crispy tostones added a satisfying rich and salty boost to each bite. Due to its popularity, Moon Bar primarily operates on a reservation basis, so walk-ins during peak hours may be a bit challenging. However, I highly recommend making the effort to secure a reservation. An added bonus is that Moon Bar shares its ingredient supply with Mooncusser upstairs, so their menu gets an update every six weeks.

Spicy drinks. Spicy food. Cute menu font. Low-key tropical vibes. Lots of seats around the oblong bar, which is definitely where you want to be. Bring your antacids.

We didn’t have any food but we tried some cocktails and they were well crafted. The space itself is gorgeous (photos attached). There appears to be an inherent relaxation vibe in this joint. They want you to settle with your group when you get in, take your time with your drinks, and the service staff let you be. So if you like to chat with friends and just chill, this is the place for you. However, if you want to be in and out quickly, you might want to try somewhere else!

This place truly blew us away. From the beginning, everything was stellar. The bar top service makes it a fun experience, where you can watch the bartenders who are also your servers, make beautiful cocktails. Our server, Jake, was wonderful at explaining the menu and giving us his favorite choices, while also imploring that if something sounds good to us, to just order it because it’s all fantastic. And he was so right! We had the tuna crudo, Caesar salad, Jamaican beef patty, ribs, sea bass, tandoori chicken and both desserts. We also had so many cocktails, and even off the menu cocktails Jake would create on the spot. The food was SO fun and flavorful, mixing Indian and Caribbean flavors with super fresh seafood and ingredients. Each dish was better than the next and we truly didn’t want to leave. I’ll be dreaming of this dinner and will go out of my way to make it here again. Add this to your hit list and don’t be surprised when it’s the only place you want to go for the rest of your life.

Great food and fun drinks. All dishes were executed well— everything was reliably good, and spicy, which is hard to come by in Boston. Happy with my dinner. Mahi mahi ceviche and tandoori chicken were great.

Delicious food and cocktails and friendly service. Can’t wait to come back. Loved the mango salad and the yucca fries especially, but everything was excellent.

Moon Bar is a culinary gem. This establishment promises a culinary journey through diverse and bold flavors. From the moment you step inside, the chic and intimate ambiance sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. One of the standout dishes is the banana leaf wrapped black bass. Perfectly cooked, the fish is moist and infused with subtle aromatic flavors from the banana leaf, creating a delicate yet impactful taste that lingers on the palate. The tandoori chicken thighs are another highlight, showcasing a perfect balance of spices and tenderness. Each bite reveals layers of flavors, from the smokiness of the tandoori marinade to the juicy and succulent meat, making it a must-try for any lover of Indian cuisine. For those seeking a taste of the Caribbean, the Jamaican beef patties are a delightful treat. The golden, flaky crust encases a savory and spicy beef filling that delivers a punch of flavor with every bite. It's a wonderful fusion of texture and taste that stands out on the menu. The marinated halibut tartare is a fresh and vibrant dish that exemplifies the balance of flavors and textures. The halibut is perfectly marinated, providing a refreshing and zesty profile that is both sophisticated and satisfying. Overall, Moon Bar offers an eclectic menu that caters to adventurous palates and those seeking comfort in familiar flavors with a twist. The attentive service and inviting atmosphere further enhance the dining experience, making it a top choice for anyone looking to indulge in innovative and delicious cuisine in Boston.

Excited to see this more casual alternative to upstairs. We were walk-ins around 5:30 PM and getting spots at the bar for two was no problem. The bartenders made great cocktails and offered enthusiastic service! We will certainly be back. This time around, we got the Mahi Mahi Ceviche, Red Snapper Stew for 2, and the coconut rice pudding/hibiscus sorbet dessert. Their non-alcoholic Lassi Lassi was a sweet treat, too. All would be strongly recommended. (for those curious, the menu had many gluten-free options and the servers willingly pointed them out). Looking forward to seeing what they do with the place!

Moon Bar provides a stellar cocktail experience. The vibrant interior sets the perfect tone for a memorable night out. The staff of mixologists are not just attentive but impressively knowledgeable. The menu features creative concoctions with an intriguing blend of ingredients. I particularly commend their tequila and mezcal drinks. The large bar runs around the entire space, ensuring ample seating and a great view of the action no matter where you sit. Despite being a Tuesday night, the place was buzzing, a clear indication of its success since opening. I'm thrilled that Moon Bar has become a part of our neighborhood. It fills the much-needed niche for a top-tier cocktail bar, and I look forward to many more visits.

The food was delightful, well thought out, and creative. Would definitely recommend coming alone or with a friend! The creative cocktails were fun but not extraordinary; when I come back, it’ll be for the food. The jerk pork chop was cooked perfectly, and the bass wrapped in banana leaf was a fantastic dish.

We sat at the bar and had a great time. Service was very attentive, very friendly bar staff and food came quickly and with no issues. All tasted amazing - on the spicier side but not too much. All tasted very fresh, well presented and decent sized portions. Would definitely return.

We were greeted at the door by the chef who was a lovely individual, warm, fun, funny, inviting. The staff was uniformly reflective of this vibe, from beginning to end. We didn’t have a reservation but it was early(5:30ish) & they put us in a cozy little spot by a window looking out at Boston. The menu was an absolutely fabulous fusion of South Indian, Mediterranean and Jamaican (turns out the chef spent time in Jamaica) cuisine. The food came right away, perfectly cooked, and every single taste was exquisite. The dishes were unique, unlike anything we’ve ever had, and we’ve eaten all over the world. We didn’t order that much food, but we were deliciously full, having had an elegant sufficiency. The chef came out to speak with us again, and we had a really fun conversation about the food, the restaurant and his background. He had a wonderful curiosity about us as well. One of the amazing things about the restaurant is that it has an open air kitchen, so you can actually see everyone cooking, and the kitchen is about the size of a postage stamp. It’s like a magic act how they can get all of this food coming out so quickly, (seemingly) effortlessly, all delivered with style, flair, and panache. Then we found out they had only been open for a week. Our eyes popped & our jaws dropped. This was a well oiled machine that seemed like it have been around forever. My only sadness is that we don’t live closer so we can eat there once a week. Needless to say, I recommend this for anyone who enjoys putting food in their mouth.

I had high expectations, given that Mooncusser is one of my favorite restaurants, and they were met. The bar service was great, and the food was delicious. Their bar menu originates from the main restaurant's hits, and it does not disappoint. I love that they don't hold back on the heat of their spicy dishes. Our personal favorite dishes are the yellowtail, pork ribs, banana leaf sea bass, and shrimp! Portion sizes are more like tapa-style, so I recommend around 3-4 dishes per person to share between 2-3 people. There's validated garage parking, and we were able to walk in right when they opened. There's bar seating and stand-up tables, as well as sit-down dining tables. You can make reservations on OpenTable, or walk-in if it's a weekday. I heard that their weekends are packed!

What a nice change of pace for this area of the city. Service was knowledgeable and friendly, drinks were well balanced with a welcome tropical flair (not too sweet don’t worry) and the snacks we had were amazing. The tandoori chicken was superb. I would certainly check it out.

Loved this cute gem of a place!! Super nice bartenders and the drinks were really well crafted! Intimate but well thought out seating, and they have an upstairs portion as well. I liked that they had seats at the window to people watch. The plantains were so good!

The service was excellent from the moment we walked in the door til we walked back out. Food was outstanding and the drinks (while pricey) were delicious. Will definitely be coming back with friends. It is a little loud if you are sensitive to noise, but not overwhelming.

If you're looking for unique and thoughtfully crafted cocktails and bites- this is the spot! Fantastic rotating menu of drinks including fun spins on classics. They also several zero-proof options. I appreciate that these are crafted with the same care as their alcoholic counterparts. Food-wise everything we've tried has been amazing- the tandoori chicken is always a favorite! The big green salad is also a sleeper hit.

Been to Moon Bar no less than 10 times now and every time has been excellent. Consistently tasty food; unique drinks; great service; lively atmosphere. The chicken thighs might be my favorite chicken dish in the city

305 Cowboy is the best mezcal cocktail I’ve ever had. Perfect balance of smoke, bitter, and tropical sweetness with a nuanced bouquet and finish.

I absolutely love what’s happening at Moon Bar. The food is fun and full of flavor, such interesting creations that are way more complex than restaurants two and three times the price. And the cocktails inspire, truly I haven’t been as intrigued and delighted by original cocktails since the old days of the resurgence of cocktail culture, we’re talking 15 years at least! To top it off, impeccable service, friendly and attentive, no pretension. Great vibes all around, a neighborhood gem.

Starting off, their liquor list is what I would say curated, but the most fairly priced list I've seen in Boston. Interesting cocktail list, changing and tasty food menu. Good, friendly service. Really cool vibe.

One of the best places in Boston I’ve been to in a while. Food was incredible! Their thing is spice and they definitely brought it! Service was top notch, they comped our dessert just cause 🥹 Highly recommend the Tandoori thighs and the Marinated Halibut. Will definitely be back.

This place absolutely blew me away. The cocktails were some of the best I have ever had, only to be outdone by the food. I can't recommend this place enough to anyone lucky enough to be in the area. Book some reservations and enjoy! Also do yourself a favor and make sure you order the tandoori chicken, it was the best I have ever had. 10/10

We visited last week whilst over from the UK for our 20th anniversary. It was our first visit, and we were lucky to walk-in and get a table on the day we arrived in Boston (Tuesday). We were blown away by the welcome we received from the bartenders, Tim and Jake. They are both so attentive and took so much pride in creating the perfect cocktail. Tim makes a tasty spicy margarita which wasn’t on the menu and my hubby was partial to the 305 Cowboy. From the bar food menu, we opted for the ceviche which was fresh and creamy with lovely undertones of aromatics. Served with tasty tortilla triangles, we loved this dish. Another favourite was the tandoori chicken thighs which were so moist with spiciness, served with a cooling raita on the side. Everything was mouthwatering! We were left with such an amazing lasting impression, we returned another two times (Fri/Sat), and we were only in Boston a few days! The bar food menu had changed a few items, so we were able to try other different dishes from our first visit. One million percent recommend Moon Bar, you won’t be disappointed. It has a great vibe. Big thanks to Jake, Tim and the team for looking after us so well. Thanks guys xxx

Finally a bar in the area that prides itself on creating a true bar experience! The drinks are well balanced, delightful and creative. There are only 2 white and 2 red options for wine because the cocktails are just that good. Don’t come here because you “need a drink”. Come here because you need an elevation. The staff is uplifting and welcoming. The food is always delicious and mirrors the creativity of the cocktail program. The semi open kitchen holds an air of earnestness and honesty that not many places in Boston have. This is truly an experience 180 from the roast beef sandwiches of yesteryear.

Lamb burger was fantastic. Excellent meat cooked perfectly and the tomato chutney/pickled cauliflower combo was such a good pairing. Friendly staff who made a well crafted cocktail with a fun/sensible presentation.

Hands down the best dining experience I’ve had in Boston in YEARS. A friend recommended Moon Bar, and boy did it live up to the hype. Cozy vibe, refreshing menu, and solid cocktails. The entire staff from the servers to the bartended to the chef were incredibly warm and welcoming. The menu has a mix of pan Asian / Caribbean options, and each was yummier than the last. Our favorites were the big eye tuna, sweet potato samosas, hanger steak, and tandoori chicken thighs. Run, don’t walk!

C
Chris Wendt

Amazing cocktails and flavor packed food in a chic intimate setting. This spot is the perfect start or end to any date night with an elevated selection of craft cocktails and Caribbean inspired food. The milk bread and the ribs are a can’t miss, and with a seasonally rotating list of cocktails we will definitely be back for more.

A recent favorite - took my boyfriend here for drinks/small plates for his birthday. Innovative drinks (with plenty less-sweet options, which I appreciated!) and food that pretty much checked all the boxes and was creative, fresh, and thoughtfully sourced. I wish I ordered more seafood, those dishes were the best! Our server was very sweet, funny, and made sure we had a great time. New lounges in Boston can truly be hit or miss, but the team at Moon bar worked hard to make sure our night was a win.

Tandoori chicken was way above expected and in par with your best Indian restaurant. I'm a beer drinker so this was branching out for me but i was very impressed with the two whiskey drinks i ordered. The bartenders i saw were very into the profession; excellent drinks

J

I didn't know what to expect based on the menu (I'm a simpleton 😂), but the food was fantastic. I brought a client and colleague out for drinks and apps. My client pulled me aside to thank me for the great selection. I'll be back with friends. Cool vibes, creative cocktails, and awesome food!

C

Food was good! Very chic meeting location. My friend and I met up here for quick drinks. It was quite bustling and I can imagine it might have been difficult to find a seat for anything more than 2 people. Nice ambience and wonderful staff though.

R
Rachelle Coury

Expensive, but the cocktails are excellent as is the food. Food offerings are more like tapas as opposed to full meals, so go with the intention of sharing several different dishes.

T
Tong Wu

Great food and service! But they have weird bar seats which are too tall and fixed. Extremely uncomfortable seating if you are not above 5’7: your legs will be hanging all the time and thighs will be numb.

M
Meagan Jump

I wanted to love this place. The vibe is great. The staff were attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, everything we tried was awful except for the green mango salad. Even our cocktails were off. Everything else was bland or tasted as it was reheated. I hope the kitchen staff were just having an off night. The worst part of our experience were the bar stools. You can't move them and there is no space to comfortably sit. Maybe it's better for shorter people. We had to keep standing up throughout the meal.

A
Ansel Barnum

Classy vibe, underwhelming food. An overdressed chayote caesar w/green chili lacked kick, as did the bland shreds of (pseudo) parmigiano which blanketed it. The waiter graciously offered a swap for the green mango salad which was an improvement, but it was nothing special beyond what you'd get at a second rate Thai restaurant. The banana leaf wrapped bass was also unimpressive, served with charred roti so blackened as to be unappetizing, and a disjointed cup of generic peanuts. The dish seemed to be a knock-off of the kerala classic, which you'd find a better version of at any Indian restaurant. The dining experience felt like some white western chefs falling short in an attempt at recreating the classics of asian cuisine. If you don't enjoy what's on the plate you might appreciate the bougie ambiance, which is what you're paying for. But if you want the real McCoy of these iconic dishes, then go to the OG restaurants where they were lifted from.
