Friendly cool environment light Hawaiian music employees are friendly and helpful I’m very picky about where I get my teriyaki. My sister had brought me a bowl to try out. I got the small bowl. Just the teriyaki chicken and rice. They give you a lot of chicken and big pieces too. They also have extra teriyaki sauce and hot sauce. Ohh and they have free fountain drinks between 2-4 pm. My order was to go. Love this spot.
Solid food and atmosphere. Wide variety of sauces to choose from, and I appreciate the available jalapenos. I got the chicken katsu and it wasn't too expensive. Only complaint is that the katsu sauce is a bit underwhelming in taste and isn't what I'm used to.
Good spam masubi, the kimchi potstickers are fun. The cashier was very friendly. Lots of different menu items, including sushi and curry.
Yeah, pretty good Hawai'ian BBQ place. We enjoyed the BBQ mix plate and the Kalua Pork. The kid said his burger was delicious. ok, great. Got his burger, fries and drink for under $10. good deal. They also have sushi rolls available that are just fine, and come with miso soup. Soda machine for free refills. You must try their Lava sauce and/or Volcano sauce. Now the names are confusing, because what is Volcano sauce but Lava? But anyway, their Lava sauce is like a sweet and sour but spicy sauce, while the Volcano sauce is a thicker, spicier number, so good! Extra star because the customers were friendly too. We had a lovely conversation with other diners.
This is my second time here and both times we've been treated very nice by the ladies at the counter and food had been delicious. We came on Wednesday the first time and they had a musubi special. Today I came in but ordered ahead and it was 844 so surprised and grateful that they didn't turn me away when I ordered a few extra things. Thanks again we'll definitely be back.
Teri chicken plate, 2x Chicken Katsu plate was ono. 1st time, Tried the spicy egg bento super ono(delicious). I'll try some others dishes and post next visit.
Seafood mix sub shrimp for extra fish with all steamed rice

I've been coming here for 5 years now. It's always consistent. Their mac salad is unrivaled!! Angie was nice to see after a long day at work today as her smile was very welcoming. Eddie is always nice to talk to as well. Thank you!! Try their Moco Loco... 5 Stars!
Very courteous staff. The chicken katsu is delicious. Big portions just like Hawaiian style. Self serve sauce station is great.
I had an order wrong one day and they were quick to fix the problem. Just came in with Angie at the front and she was great at getting my new order in. Food is amazing and the service is excellent. Will be coming here often.
My wife and I are big fans of Hawaiian BBQ and usually get the chicken katsu. I loved it but my wife thought the katsu sauce tasted more like traditional BBQ sauce than at other places. But the food was cooked well and the service was excellent. I really like that the sauces are self serve so you can get as much as you like.
This is my go-to when I'm too tired to cook because I know I'll have leftovers for lunch. This place has some tasty food - very authentic flavors! It's a family favorite! Moco loco, spam masubi, Seafood mixed plate, BBQ mixed plate... it's all good stuff! And the staff is always friendly!

This place has survived for years. I hadn't been in a long time. Same woman at the cash. I ordered the roll with shrimp tempura and California roll inside. It was freshly made. The shrimp was and not soggy. It was very good. Comes with soup.

Have been here dozens of times over the past few years but it seems this place is getting run down. Protein and side portions shrinking while prices have increased. They also get stingy with Sriracha sauce. Today we ordered a chicken combo and a katsu plate. Katsu was crispy but mostly breading. The katsu sauce is tasty. The BBQ chicken was also thin and a smaller portion than normal. The bbq chicken was dry as if it had been cooked a while ago and sitting there. I brought a friend that hadn’t tried and neither of us were really satisfied with the meal. Cashiers are usually friendly and helpful.
I was in the area and had a craving for something like the Ono Hawaiian BBQ and saw this in the area so I tried. Food is ok but the chicken BBQ is not as fresh as i expected it to be. The Macaroni salad is just ok.

Ordered the chicken katsu & could only eat half of it since the rest was too crunchy or undesirable to eat. Macaroni salad wasn't seasoned enough but the white rice was fine. Worst part was finding a piece of plastic in my food.

Edit 12/29/2025: After many years enjoying their food and service, it's sad to leave a negative update based on multiple past visits. After waiting patiently for over half an hour with other customers, the food was subpar and they should be embarrassed to serve. The cooks usually prepared good Hawaiian food (except for the rice, and especially for their Japanese plates) but sadly not my favorites and not last night. I've never had decent fluffy white rice here. Either get a better rice cooker and or timer or maybe change the brand of rice. The usually tender bbq pork must have been switched out for bbq beef (I don't eat beef) as the meat texture was firm and different and it was burnt and dried like eating bbq beef jerky. The bed of veggies are usually par boiled and softer but it was mostly raw and that left the cabbage leaves bitter. The cashier never repeated my order which was his mistake as I specifically told him "all mac salad no rice". It was prepared as 2 scoops of rice, no mac salad. My mistake for not opening the cover to check for accuracy. The mini bbq plate was not worth $13.99. The order of saimin was another disappointment. The noodles were not properly stirred so there were two large clumps of noodles stuck together, edible but not enjoyable and not worth $12.49. The photo shows a handful of small thinly sliced fried Spam, missing bbq pork and 2 thinly sliced kamaboko fish cake hidden underneath. Five stars for streaming Hawaiian music. I wish them well, improved food and service and good luck in 2026. I'll visit the other location on Harbor and Orangethorpe instead for more consistent, friendly service and food quality. ~~~~~~~~~~ Previous review from 3 years ago: Great Hawaiian barbecue meat plates, mac salad and pork lau lau in a clean and spacious environment. Food is generously portioned. Many Hawaiian can fruit drinks are available. This location in Brea also serves many Japanese entrees with meats, chicken and grilled salmon, bento combinations and special rolls with raw fish. I've ordered many of their Japanese items in the past and am often disappointed when ordering their specials, having had more misses than hits. The rice they serve is a different variety and/or they are cooking it incorrectly. It's often more on the dry side, harder and doesn't stick together making it harder to eat with chopsticks. The miso soup served in a foam takeout bowl is usually lukewarm after a 5 minute drive home. The most recent combo orders of bbq chicken bento and bbq pork bento was the most disappointing. Rice wasn't up to par again, California rolls tasted way, way off like spoiled unknown ingredients. Mixed shrimp and vegetable tempura was cold, chewy and thick with batter. The meats were good as always. On a positive note, their counter help is always helpful, patient and pleasant.

I ordered the crispy shrimp plate my boyfriend got the short rib plate with the rice and mac salad. Worst Hawaiian bbq place I have ever been to. The meat was dry and not chewable the shrimp was also over fried and dry. The rice taste like plastic. Only ok part was the macaroni salad. The broccoli was RAW not even steamed. Also pricey for the quality of food and the cashier could’ve had better customer service. Never again.
They hate money here they keep putting me on hold went down the street to the other Hawaiian spot do better
