Delicious! The seollongtang was yummy and saved me from the cold. And the best part of this place is that it’s open 24/7!

I’ve been coming here for 27 yrs. Even though the price and the store location changed over the time, but the excellent taste of the sseolungtang and kimchi has not. My friend from Italy loved it too and finished it all.

I found this place in an interesting turn of events. Came at 5AM to this area for work, and surprisingly this place was open (24 hours). I came in for breakfast before work, and was greeted by a sweet middle-aged man. I ordered 김치 찌개 (Kimchi Stew). Before the food was ready, I was given water and a lot of kimchi; I was pleasantly surprised by the quantity, but WOW I haven't tasted a kimchi so delicious, tangy, crunchy, and savory like this in the area. Mind-blown. I finished the kimchi, and the server asked me if I wanted more. I wondered if this was going to be an extra charge, but NOPE it was complimentary. MORE MINDBLOWN. The star of the show, 김치 찌개, was something so delicious I cannot describe it in words. It's a mix of sour, salty, hot (but not overly spicy), and unami. The one thing I did notice was that the pork was hiding, or I didn't notice how much of it was in the stew. Also, the bowl of rice is small for me since I needed 2. Besides that, incredible. If I can eat this everyday, I would, but only at this restaurant, it's the best in my opinion. The service was excellent and timely. The servers know what you need before you say anything, and they come to refill your water or bring more Kimchi. Fortunately, they don't stare or watch in a noticeable way like some sit-down services do, so it was nice to feel some privacy to enjoy but also get quick, efficient service. Lovely experience overall! Edit: I came again and took a pic of the 김치 찌개. I noticed that the pork was hiding only that one time. This time there was a lot more pork. Thanks!

Have you had knuckle tendons in your life? If you like those cartileges, come and try them out. I usually have them in hot soup but this plate is refreshing with vegetable garnishes.

We decided to come here because Five Senses was so crowded downstair and this was a great decision. The wait was quick and the food was as good with better kimchi and less expensive price. We had the Korean pancake, BBQ Pork and the Kimchi soup. They all tasted nice and decent to me. My friends enjoyed them, too. And again, their kimchi is the best I've known so far in NYC. It was not so sour like those you would find elsewhere and there was a hint of very subtle sweetness, which makes it very delightful to eat with rice.

The staff here is great. They’re super attentive & kind. I like their Bossam & L.A. Galbi. It definitely does the job after a very long night of drinking. It can get hectic during demon hours on the weekends but they do a good job of handling the crowd, which isn’t easy when the majority of them are wasted & hangry. Every server + busboy that’s taken care of me and my party have been absolutely the best.

I been going to gammeok for 6 years and I can always rely on this place for a hearty soup. It always hit and the quality is was superior and consistent every time. Galbitang and the seollong tang is my go to every time. There is always seating no matter the time of the day or day of the week that you come making it super convenient. Highly recommend

Clam and inviting atmosphere. We were quickly sat down on a Friday at 6:30pm. We both got the Seolleongtang (Ox Bone Soup). Is it bland? That’s the right way! it comes from a time when there was lack of seasoning to use. The restaurant gives you a bowl of green onions and salt for a reason! Additionally you get some great kimchi napa and daikon to pair. For appetizers we got the Soondae and it was good! As expected.

The beef bone soup is excellent, very nice. The mochi they serve with it is delicious as well and so if a lot of their other dishes. I don’t recommend the Galbi/short ribs though, very thin, and small portions for the price. The place is pricier than other places for sure

The place was pretty empty when we got there (it was around 10am on a Monday). The server was nice, and the service was pretty fast. I ordered a rice with kimchi and cheese and corns on top and it was delicious - it was just so hot and spicy! But I would definitely recommend this place for a good Korean meal.

First time at Gammeeok and I’m officially obsessed. I love Korean food, but this spot took it to another level. The sullungtang (ox bone soup) was rich and comforting, the kind of simple dish that feels like a warm hug. Everything tasted super authentic, and the portions were generous. Service was quick and friendly even though the place was busy, and it has that cozy, no-frills vibe I love in good Korean restaurants. Definitely coming back to try the late-night menu next time.

I had a great experience at Gammeeok! The soup was incredibly delicious — full of flavor and perfectly comforting. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the location in Koreatown is perfect. I also really appreciate that the restaurant is open late, which makes it a great spot for a late-night meal. Highly recommend!

We were looking for something to eat around midnight and were lucky to come across this place as it is open 24 hours. It was warm and safe and our server, William, was very accommodating and answered all of our questions. We ordered bibimbap and seafood pancake, they were both delicious! We highly recommend this place!

Gammeeok delivers exactly what you hope for when you’re craving comforting Korean classics. The seolleongtang comes out milky, clean, and deeply savory — the kind of broth that tastes like patience. Paired with perfectly cooked rice, sharp kimchi, and a side of japchae that’s glossy and well‑seasoned, the whole spread feels honest and satisfying. It’s straightforward, no‑nonsense Korean soul food, done with care and consistency — the kind of meal that warms you from the inside out.

The food was very delicious and satisfying. The seolleongtang soup was rich and comforting with tender beef inside. The sundae (Korean blood sausage) on the hot plate was flavorful and went really well with the garlic and chili peppers. The kimchi was fresh and spicy, which balanced the soup perfectly. The restaurant was clean and cozy, and the staff were kind. Overall, it was a great Korean meal and I would love to visit again.

I have been eating at this place since their old location closer to Broadway. The signature beef bone broth is always my go to, always love that rich broth especially in winter times. Another favorite I like is their radish kimchi since not a lot of Korean restaurants make that.

We’ve been to Gammeeok Seolleongtang several times over the years, and it’s always a must-visit when we’re in New York. We went during a quiet time and were able to sit immediately. The meal was delicious and satisfying for the whole family. The portions don’t seem huge at first, but by the end, you feel very full and content. A truly hearty and comforting Korean meal.

i love this place! I love beef soondubu but have it every once in a blue moon. Came here with a friend for lunch, the spicy pork bibimbap was a 10/10 for her and I tried some of the pork which were big and had a good rice to meat ratio. The beef soondubu is my favorite thing, it’s hot and stays hot for the whole stay, comes with white rice, and the mixture of both is just so good. I also came here by myself for a quick meal in the cold and it warmed me up really fast. The lady at the front is extremely nice and all the workers seem to be working hard to get to everyone.

I’ve heard a lot about Gammiok in New York, so I finally stopped by while visiting Koreatown — and it did not disappoint! The restaurant was clean, calm, and welcoming. Since I went around 10:30 in the morning, it wasn’t too busy, which made the atmosphere even more relaxing. The side dishes, especially the kimchi, were incredibly delicious and full of flavor. The main dishes tasted very natural — not overly seasoned or artificial — you could really taste the quality of the meat and vegetables. I even saw someone making dumplings by hand, which made me trust the place even more. A true Korean restaurant that serves honest, authentic food!

Came in here in possibly the most busy night of the year - Halloween weekend at 2am daylight savings time. Place was super chaotic. Extremely busy with customers but the workers were somehow able to seat and feed everyone that came in. Soondobu dish was amazing. Full of flavor and hearty. The seafood scallion pancake was absolutely amazing. i could eat that thing for a meal and would be satisfied. Would be happy to come back here anytime! Not just a late night after kareoke.

Seolleong tang really hit the spot. It was a cold, rainy morning. I had come from a doctor’s appointment and was craving something warm and well healing. Seolleong tang. Thankfully Gammeeok was open at 10am. Most restaurants open at 11 or 11:30. The place was empty except two other single diners and two groups of four. I got a seat by the window which was perfect. 32nd street is unusually empty and quiet. Oh yeah it’s a rainy Tuesday morning. The kimchee was a perfect level of spicy and sweet for Seolleong tang. The soup was bubbling when I got it. The broth was milky white. Slices of beef were submerged with the noodles and rice. I added three to four spoons of diced green onions and heaping amount of salt. Ahhhh. Service was typical Korean efficiency. They left me alone for the most part. I paid up front when I was ready. Cheaper if you pay by cash which I did. Still was over $20’with tip but everything is expensive now. I would probably never make Seolleong tang, so much work, so I’ll come back especially on a rainy midweek morning.

Amazing Korean food. We loved the kimchi and radish kimchi! Their homemade soondae is the best I've ever had. Very kind staff. I love that they are open 24 hours. A well Korean style restaurant. Came with a party of five. Their signature beef bone soup noodle was well but I expected something better from a "signature" menu. It also comes unseasoned with salt, pepper and scallions, but seasoning well is not something you should expect from every customer (I enjoy cooling so I looked this part though). For appetizers, the Korean style veggy pancake served with soysauce was much better than their seafood pancake. We also ordered the cocked soup noodle which has very thick chicken flavors (a plus), and has a very small whole chick which is very tender but it's soon is not dealt with properly so we had to discard the skin. The service was fine. I had to ask more than three times to order. I also had to go grab soup spoons myself for two soups as they forgot and I couldn't call any waiters in five minutes of trying. We came at 7:30 which is their busiest time but they only have 7 waiters for "over 50 tables (according to the supervising waitress)". Overall, the food quality is very comparable to the Korean settle restaurants around, and I could recommend it.

J
Jessica T.

I’ve been here multiple times for my hungover meal but the soups are pretty good to be frank. Their dolsot are decent but the soups lack meat. I wish I had more meat in.

Gammeeok is open 24/7 so it was a great option to go to after coming back from a concert in NJ. They give a heaping serving of kimchi which was pretty good. I tried the yukgaejang. The soup had somewhat of a deep beef flavor but was not that flavorful. It was very hot (temperature) and spicy, so went well with rice. I didn't think the toppings were particularly plentiful or good. The meat was a bit dry. The whole dish was very hot so it was a bit hard to eat. We also got the naengmyeon. This dish was very refreshing and hit the spot. The soup was nice and icy, the noodles were good, and I enjoyed the meat, pear, and radish on top. This is one of the better cold noodles I've had in the US. If I had the choice (which we didn't), I would go to BCD over Gammeeok for late night eats, but this was also a solid option. The service was quick and I enjoyed the experience!

Located on the 2nd Floor right off of 32nd Street servicing Korea Town and the adjoining areas of Manhattan. Moderately clean facilities. Not a large menu. Staff is nice and the food comes out quickly. Typical Korean Cuisine. Price point is on par with most Korean restaurants so bring your Credit Cards. We will most likely be going back.

Z

We came here on a Friday night after the wait at another Ktown restaurant was too long. I actually quite liked the kimchi jigae - it was rich, spicy, and piping hot. I thought their kimchi was decent, but I would have expected there to be more dishes. A decent, casual, and affordable Korean restaurant in Ktown.

D
D Bui (SaavyShopper)

Gammeeok provides a decent selection of traditional Korean dishes in a cozy ambiance. While the atmosphere sets the stage for an enjoyable meal, some dishes fall short in delivering the expected flavors. Additionally, the portion sizes could be more generous, especially considering the pricing. However, the restaurant's 24/7 opening hours are a definite plus, offering convenience for diners at any time. With some improvements in taste consistency and portioning, Gammeeok has the potential to elevate its dining experience to match its cozy ambiance.

R

The restaurant was on the second floor so it took a long stair to actually get to the restaurant. The staff was really nice and the store was clean. The food was good - just the portion was small and the soup was a bit blend.

K
Kacy C

Great 24hr place for some decent Korean food. The seolleng tang was very flavorful and I would recommend this. The broth was nice and rich. You have to season the soup yourself which is the norm. However, they added rice to the soup which is normally just served on the side. The kimchi pancake was thick and felt like it was pre-fried and just sitting out. The kimchi jeongol was also thick and did not have much ingredients in there. Overall, great place to go super late at night or really early in the morning.

We came here for cold noodles on Sunday evening. It was a really hot day and probably a lot of people came to eat it so out noodles felt stale and the soup was not as cold as we wanted and no frozen soup or ice at all in it.

I

Been here a few times during peak and non-peak times and each time there were very few tables filled. Despite that, service is kinda slow. Food is okay but pretty overpriced for portion size and what it is. I usually get their signature Gammeeok Seollang Tang. They give you a separate bowl of salt and green onions to season yourself, as the dish itself from the kitchen is only the noodles, meat, and no flavor. I personally don’t love this because I mess this up every time and would prefer they give an initial flavor profile to start. Despite that, I’ve come back! We’ve gotten their seafood pancake and bibimbaps before too. While they’re good, for the price point the value is not there. Each of their dishes are minimum $20 and even for the broth soups they’re very minimal portions. For two people and only two mains, a check of over ~$70 with tax/tip doesn’t seem justified. You can find plenty other good eat options in ktown that will give you better bang for your buck. And probably better service too.

Y
Yolanda

We got the bossam, galbitang, japchae, and bibim naengmyeon. The food is generally decent, but not as good as other Korean places nearby. The service is also incredibly slow.

A
Anna Nguyen

The kimchi is very tasty here. That’s the only side dish you get. The rest of the menu is pretty pricy except the pork broth special and the lunch menu special spicy pork soup. Overall solid place. Service was okay.

P
Patricia Wattimena

In general the food was quite average. The liver served with the blood sausage set was too dry for me and the Bibimbap here would not be my favourite. Also, unfortunately when I visited a few times, many items were not available especially from the drinks list. The menu is not very big so you have relatively limited choices. Not too crowded and the price is ok.

M
Mony Kiem

The food is delicious! Their kimchi was probably one of the best I’ve ever had. The samgetang was near perfect, chicken a little on the rough side. I’m not a fan of blood sausage but the ones they served here is good. Unfortunately the customer service was not so good, many mistakes were made. Brought out dishes incorrectly, bill was incorrect, slow service even though restaurant was near empty. And top it off with the prices being expensive for what you get.

지키미

Location and services good, kimchi test was great. But the food quality vs price seems over priced. Also, the receipt pre-calculated tipping showed not the price of meal, they showed pre-calculated tipping after taxed prices. These days some other restaurants also trick like this, not pleasant. Know why no customers on weekday on lunch time.

Joseph Blackwell
Joseph Blackwell

The staff are very friendly and the beef galbi was extremely tender. The kimchi was also a nice blend of spicy and sweet which complimented my food extremely well. The soup was nice but I personally felt lacking depth and maybe felt a bit watery for a soup. The ox bone soup however comes highly recommended by my wife as a cure all soup!

C
Chen Larry

we were sat for nearly an hour and the food wasn’t ready. when we asked, they said our order was “second in line” as in they had not made it yet. we left. PS don’t spin the wheel it’s rigged, we spun it 5 times it landed on “next time” every time

N
Nubia

Late night had no choice to go, got the soup but the side dish is with only one plate of kimchi which cost me $55 USD for the soup, rice wine and one beer! Totally not worth it because there is not much good choice on the meau. Although the service is good n it was open late

K
Kelly Review Guide

Food was okay but the service was quite terrible. We got here around 10:30 in the morning which was after they OPENED. But the guy at the desk didn't give us the table because the food was not yet ready to be served. It was so awkward and weird. Even though it might take some time to serve the customers, you still want to give them a table. Also, why open the restaurants and the food isn't ready to be served. Moreover, this guy server was extremely nosy. He kept telling us how we should seat.. which js totally up to customers.

I’m sad. I really enjoyed this place and have been coming in regularly for the past year. Apparently, I can’t come here anymore. Early this morning, I went in, looking for a good healthy meal after being at a concert. The restaurant was empty, but for some reason, the waitress was intent on rushing me into ordering. I had been sitting there no less than 5 minutes when she came around a second time asking if I was ready to order, seemingly annoyed that I wasn’t. She then made it a point of implying I was homeless, saying that she understands it’s cold outside and that if I need a place to warm up for a few minutes, I could. Except that I was there to order food! I had apologized and said “I’m sorry I was distracted, I’m going through a tough break up right now” and she said “so am I!” And in a moment of empathy, I said “who would wanna break up with you?” And she accused me of being rude to her! I’m pretty sure there was no language barrier. She’s been my waitress every single time I’ve been in there and her command of the English language is excellent. The restaurant suddenly became packed. Because I’ve worked as a waitress, I understand what that’s like, and I decided to patiently wait. After about 15 minutes of her deliberately ignoring me, I finally got up and left. Prior to reaching that point, I was hoping to be able to turn a negative into a positive, and was intent on ordering and leaving her a nice tip. It became very apparent that she has no intention of returning to my table. I wanted to leave a note but couldn’t find a pen. So instead I left a $5 tip and left. The food is pretty good, albeit a bit bland, but some of the healthiest available food options open 24 hours a day. That justifies the high prices, perhaps not the bland food. The kimchi is really good, and I usually flavor the broth with it. The decor is nice, and they always play the most wonderful music, it is a bit loud. That waitress is usually cheerful, friendly, and good at her job. Judging by her behavior towards me, it seems she’d decided I was beneath her, undeserving of basic respect, and an appropriate dumping ground for her frustrations. It’s interesting. Last night I went in way more dressed up than I usually am when I go there, and she was especially mean. Edit: having looked at some of the other reviews, I see I’m not the only one who’s had this experience. I can say that working as a server is challenging enough, and especially working a shift by yourself and an overnight one on top of that. That doesn’t justify being mean, especially in a costumer facing position. I don’t know what kind of mean girl energy she’s on, but I do hope she has a chance to heal. The pain of bad break up’s is real, as is all the ugliness within us that kind of ordeal tends to reveal. In the meantime, I’ll have to search elsewhere for a healthy late night meal

Korean staff were very rude and seemed like it was beneath them to serve our group. We were by far the most well behaved group at 6am. Food was great overall

I came here late one evening after the club with friends and thought the food was really mid. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and there's lots of seating. Service is also okay. We ordered soups, a seafood pancake, and their galbi. All of their food was really mid. I was heavily disappointed by their seafood pancake, which barely had any seafood in it.

I ordered seafood sundubu jjigae. However, they used chicken broth, and it was hard to find any seafood. This is the first time I've ever had such poorly prepared and tasteless food in New York. It's embarrassing that this dish is being sold to foreigners as Korean sundubu jjigae.

Worst tteokbokki ever. Does not taste like anything. Also they did very bad job packing food for Uber Eats delivery because the tteoboki sauce just spilled everywhere and nothing was left after all. What a waste of money I should have just bought some frozen food from H mart

tried to scam drunk group. paid with $200, total was $124. gave $45 back, instead of $76. when confronted, claimed they gave us the correct amount. then finally yielded and said they took the tip as part of it, so i suppose they auto tipped themselves a nice 25%. then finally the guy got angry after called out on his scam

I came here with a friend after a long time and ordered the seolleongtang… Honestly, it was terrible. I’ve lived in New York for several years, but this is the first time I’ve ever felt that I completely wasted my money. I really don’t understand how this place has good reviews—are those people even real customers? The seolleongtang came with just a few small pieces of meat and barely any rice. The broth was so bland that it tasted like watered-down soup. The only side dish was kimchi, and that’s it. This place feels nothing like the Gammiok I remember when I first came to New York. Maybe the owner has changed, I’m not sure. My friend told me, “Let’s just not come back,” but I was honestly too upset about wasting my money. If I could, I’d give this place zero stars.

i’ve been coming here for 2 years straight and it really does take a lot to drive a regular to write a bad review. i’ve been coming here pretty often some times even once a week and there’s only one thing i order each time and that is the tofu soup. the tofu soup has very obviously decreased in quality and increased in price — it used to be flavorful and affordable but now it’s just bland and lacking in beef, they try to substitute it with lot more veggies. service staff is very badly trained since the beginning and they will never change that. only recently have they hired more competent staff but even then i have to physically get napkins every time because the servers are never around for you to ask them. the most ridiculous part is that they know me and once they remembered me they became more lackluster. the last time i went they didn’t even bother to give me water… they are only attentive on tables with 2+ people and ignore the solo ones which means i have to constantly wave them down and ask for napkins, kimchi refills, oh but they are FAST to kick you out the moment you are done. the hygiene of this place is 100% to be questioned as well as they have been shut down before due to a rat found in someone’s soup. the other reviewers say that the staff are really gross (picking at their feet with gloves and then using said gloves to serve) or picking up dropped kimchi and putting it back into the bowl… i honestly think this restaurant has taken a disappointing turn and while i’m sad about it, i will probably never come back again. update (also a response): yes i did LOVE the tofu soup! it was great and the prices were great until it WASNT. no one has ever told me before that i couldn’t spin the wheel multiple times that’s faulty on your end, you can accuse that i got “caught” but i didn’t do anything illegal nor did i know until the last time that i wasn’t allowed to do that. i kept coming back because i DIDNT know about the dirtiness before until i saw it with my own eyes and read the news afterwards. you can report if you want but everything i said is FACTUAL (look it up!) also did not delete the review, it got taken down. you can call me bitter because of the wheel but truthfully it’s because the tofu soup lacked beef compared to before, the service was bad and i didn’t even get water; the quality decreased along with the increase in price, NOT because of anything else. the attitude you show is gross and unprofessional and thanks for letting everyone know your stance on professionalism. hey! at least you didn’t deny that your staff is inattentive, kudos to you~ (i will be making no further updates so you can go ahead and say whatever you like)

Probably the most disgusting korean food we have had. Kimchi pancake tasted dry and off - almost like eating sandpaper. Seafood tofu food tasted it had been sitting for days and definitely not cooked fresh. Avoid at all costs

I came around 9:40 AM and ordered two bowls of soondae soup, sitting near the kitchen bench area. When it was time to pay, the lady server told me I had to only choose 20%, 22%, or 25% for the tip, there was not a custom tip. I decided to leave 20% on purpose just to make my point, and I asked her again why there was no custom option. I said, “Why isn’t there a custom option? I was going to leave 30%.” She replied, “Oh, the receipt was printed wrong, you can pay 30%. Let me reprint it now.” So I asked, “Then why didn’t you just reprint it right away?” She said nothing. That’s not how professional service works. If a restaurant limits how much customers can tip — or makes excuses like “the printer was wrong” — it’s not about the printer; it’s about poor management and lack of training. If you can’t respect your customers’ choices, maybe you shouldn’t be in the service business.

Came with a friend on Friday morning after an early flight in. We just wanted a simple breakfast and got bindae-ttok to share plus two sodas. I've never had the pancake before so not sure how it's supposed to taste but it was burnt to a crisp on the edges. We sat for about an hour and when we got the bill the server confronted us about the 10% tip saying that "20% is expected in NYC" and that we "should tip more since you got hot food and sat here for a long time" - but only 2 or 3 tables were occupied! I get that things are expensive in NYC but aggressively demanding a 20% tip for "service" that consists of bringing one pancake (mediocre at best) and two sodas to the table is completely unacceptable. After reading the reviews here I am unsurprised that they need to bribe customers for positive reviews after the rat soup incident. Go anywhere else in Koreatown if you like actual food and not being treated like they're entitled to your money!

$43 for just this?? Ordered bossam for takeout. No rice, no ssam (lettuce wraps), just a few slices of pork and some pickled sides. For $43 I expected at least a full set. Portion was disappointing for the price. Never ordering again.

Worst restaurant of my life. 🫥 I ordered kimchi stew and it came with only 6 super thin slices of meat, 4 tiny diagonal slices of tofu, and just one pack of ramen… that’s it… Side dishes? Just two kinds of kimchi… seriously? 🤷‍♀️ Especially for foreigners coming because of the K-food hype, Korean restaurants are NOT usually like this! Please avoid this restaurant 🚫 Oh, and the staff weren’t friendly either.. 🙂‍↔️

The worst experience. I visit this place regularly in the past years. In my recent visit, we order Korean BBQ dish. It looked decent at beginning however when we removed the beef on the top, there were only bones underneath. I spoke with the waitress, she said you should have complaint before you ate it. $45 dollars for this scam dish? At the end, she mistakenly charged our table with other table bill by charging $120 dollars. What a scam! We asked her to fix the bill then she refunded us. I said we don’t eat pork for religious reasons and she served us pork dumplings on our table. Just ridiculous. Please stay away from this place and stay with from scam!

The food itself was tasty, but the service was really disappointing. I asked for more kimchi several times and even made eye contact with the staff, but they ignored me until I finished my meal—then they said they would bring it. That’s unacceptable. On top of that, when I ordered seolleongtang, our table didn’t even get green onions, which is a basic part of the dish. I came here as a traveler to enjoy Korean food in New York, and while the dishes were good, the service left me very disappointed.
