Food was fantastic! We came here on a rainy Saturday night expecting a very long wait. Our wait ended up being about 45mins - 1 hr. However, while waiting we just bought drinks and had an order of edamame at the front bar. It was a perfect way to kill time. The atmosphere is a little too night clubby for me. The music was blaring and it was very dark. We got the goma Q, two orders of baos, one pork and one vegetarian. They were both delicious. For ramen I had the spicy garlic one, I forget the name. Broth was perfect, not too salty, not too bland. Perfect. The handmade Noodles were great as well. Ippudo is world renowned for a reason.
One of my favorite ramen spots in the city. The broth is rich, noodles are perfectly cooked, and the small plates are great to share. Fun, energetic atmosphere.
My mom, sister and I have been to this place years ago and ordered the Ivan ramen, poached egg, shishito peppers, and buns. The food was wonderful, and the service was good. The atmosphere was busy because mealtime. The waiters were shouting out the orders and people were busy talking.
The broth was sooo good - so much umami flavours that bring you on a.m journey from the moment the spoon of broth is in your mouth to the aftertaste. We asked for the noodles to be semi-hard so it doesn’t become too soggy so we can take our time to enjoy the bowl.I had the non-meat ramen, i would highly recommend the Nirvana Karaka if you’re looking for something spicy. The ramen can’t be vegan though since the noodles are made of eggs. It’s a bit on the pricey side but worth it!
Mmmm delicious! We went on a Saturday night - they don’t take reservations. We waited about 45 min at the bar before being seated but it was very pleasant. The old fashioned is 👌. The ramen was so good and rich and flavorful. It could have been a little warmer, but that didn’t stop be from inhaling it. I can’t wait to come back.
If possible 4.8, but 5 stars felt better than 4. Maybe top 3 ramen. I really liked the broth. Ordered pork bun & Yokohama Tonkotsu. Also drank a delicious mango cocktail. Not sure where the 1 stars are coming from, I loved the ambiance. The ladies bathroom was a great experience. Arrived around 5 and got seated right away. I loveee bao buns. The dough was beautiful, but mayo in a bao bun. Eh. Not a fan. 3.5 The drink was fire. It came with a dried mango which was soo good. Felt a bit tipsy after one tbh. Spicy tuna roll was sooo good omg! Ramen was good. I really liked the broth because it wasn’t very salty. Wish the egg was a bit more runny but the combination of flavors was on point. I’ve never had pork pastrami before and it was a unique taste for me. I should have gotten the pork belly instead, but overall good ramen. Would definitely come again & recommend.
We got lucky and came just as a table was freed, usually there's a bit of a wait, they don't do reservations. Wait staff was fantastic and food was to die for. We had a vegan in our group and the waiter helped her decide on which foods she could eat. There's option to get extra noodles in your ramen for only $2, def recommend that. Let the wait staff know, and keep part of your broth for it after you're done with the initial portion of noodles. The Jap peppers aren't generally spicy, only a few were, a bit of a Russian Roulette, but even the spicy ones aren't deadly 😂 The black sesame pudding with blueberry sauce was a delight, lightly sweetened and the sauce was tarte, balancing it out. A little on the pricier side but overall A+!
First timer - without reservation approximately 40 minutes after opening I went it with my husband for a table inside. Current climate, asked for our vaccination cards and IDs. We were seated promptly, and the staff was very attentive. Space was clean, tables were socially distanced. For drinks, my husband ordered the Sakura which was nice, however the end has a strong grapefruit flavor. I ordered the choryo which was lovely. We ordered a pork bun, chicken bun, I got the shiromaru motoaji with pork and a boiled egg, and my husband got the akamaru shinaji with chicken. The buns were fantastic. The rich pork was seated in a beautiful cloud, with lettuce - bringing a chew and cleanliness to the flavor. The chicken was delicious with crisp skin and a nicely spiced sauce, also with lettuce. The shirmaru soup was lovely. Noodles were perfect, broth was flavorful and the egg was lovely. The akamaru had a nice hit of heat, same wit the noodles and broth. I absolutely loved coming here and I see myself revisiting. UPDATE Went back, around 7PM. 10 minute wait for seats. Felt quicker. Got to our seats and scanned for the menu. I got the lychee martini which was delicious and my husband got plum wine which was delicious. Pork buns were amazing. Vegetable buns amazing. Chicken buns amazing. Shrimp buns amazing. Had the pork rice bowl. Delicious. Pork was juicy. Husband had ramen— they got it wrong he wanted chicken but they gave him pork. He didn’t care tho and ate it anyway. Lol. Love this place.
Great service! We had the miso ramen, because we didn’t want to take the pork broth. It was really tasty. And we had the lychee soda which was okayish. The match crepe cake was pretty good too but a bit pricey for what we got. Overall great place and ambience. Would def come back :)
Saw online that they did not take reservations, but upon arrival, we were seated immediately. The staff give you a warm welcome when they guide you to the dining area, which has a very nice atmospheric feel. The staff remained consistently attentive and friendly throughout our meal. The food and drinks were delicious as well. No leftovers whatsoever.
Ippudo has certainly become my favorite ramen place. Ramen being one of my favorite cuisines and after trying some other ramen places in NYC and JC I think this place has the best ramen. We started with the shrimp buns, they were very flavorful the only thing was they costed $6 for a bun. We then ordered our favorite the Karrage Chicken, it was good as well. The best part was the ramen, we tried the Karaka Spicy Ramen which has pork broth and we took chicken as the protein. Firstly this was not very spicy but extremely flavorful. The thin noodles were probably one of the better noodles I have had. They do not accept reservations and the place is extremely crowded so please plan for a decent wait times in peak days and hours. Overall a must visit for anyone who wants to try out ramen.
Ippudo is a truly amazing, offering not just incredible food but an all around unforgettable dining experience. From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by a vibrant atmosphere and attentive service that sets the tone for the culinary delights to come. I ordered the Akamaru Modern, and it was absolutely phenomenal. The creamy tonkotsu broth was bursting with flavor, perfectly balanced by the bold kick of garlic oil and their signature miso paste. The noodles were springy and delicious, and the chashu pork melted in my mouth. Paired with their marinated soft-boiled egg, every bite was pure perfection. Their small plates are equally spectacular. The fried ebi with spicy mayo was a standout—crispy, succulent shrimp drizzled with a spicy, creamy sauce that hit all the right notes. The lychee martini was the perfect complement: light, refreshing, and slightly sweet, with just the right balance of floral notes and alcohol. It’s a must-try for cocktail lovers. What truly sets Ippudo apart is their attention to detail. The presentation of every dish and drink was flawless, showcasing their commitment to excellence. Even their vegetarian ramen was a masterpiece, with a rich, umami-packed broth and vibrant, fresh toppings that delighted the senses. And if the food wasn’t enough, the service takes things to the next level. The staff was incredibly warm, knowledgeable, and attentive, ensuring every moment of the meal was perfect. From start to finish, Ippudo offers a dining experience that’s hard to beat. Highly, highly recommended!
Tried the cucumber starter – a very simple dish, but it tasted amazing and was incredibly refreshing. A great way to start the meal! Now to the highlight: the Nirvana Shiromaru Ramen. The mushroom broth was rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. Honestly, one of the best ramen bowls I’ve ever had. Highly recommended for any ramen lover!
LOVED! We went here for lunch while on vacation and we were not disappointed. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a great look it, great place to have dinner for a special occasion. Our food came out fast and was AMAZING! We came during happy hour so we got to enjoy their great cocktails for a discount. Highly recommend, we will definitely be back!
Pretty crowded so best to make reservations. Good vegetarian Ramen options -2.l, 3rd one is same just with a side of chilli. They were kind enough to swap thick wavy for thin noodles that I like better. The atmosphere is cozy, perfect for a solo dinner as well. Desserts options are decent, I would rather suggest going for a Japaneese bakery instead.
This place is an incredible ramen spot! 🍜 Ippudo NY offers a great variety of delicious 🤤 ramen bowls! 🍲 Definitely get the Miso Ramen and Fried ♨️ Chicken 🍗 appetizer! Service is quick ⏲️, ambience 🎶 is great, and the restaurant 🍴 is nicely decorated. 🛋️ I wish I came here more often!
Came here out of nostalgia for a previous chain to Japan. While Ippudo in NY wasn’t as good as the Ippudo in Japan, I did not regret a visit here at all. Food quality is on par with the better ramen chains. Did not try the apps, so cannot comment on those. But the spicy tonkatsu ramen and the fried chicken rice were delicious. I feel like chicken karaage typically just comes as a bowl of fried chicken, but having that with veggies, rice, and sauce was so refreshing and I wish the concept was more common.
Simply a staple for ramen in the city. Very tasty with a lot of local Japanese beer options to pair with. I got the Treasure Toppings and was able to split with my partner instead of gettin two orders (one person can just order the egg if they want). Tried the seasonal shrimp appetizers that were bomb! They should keep it on the menu all year. Only thing is there is a wait since there are no reservations so you can expect a wait. Usually goes fast, just have a beer and wait!
Upon entry during 12ish on a Saturday we were able to get a table for 2 in 15 minutes which is not bad. The hostess was very courteous and notified us clearly and loudly when our table was ready. We ordered the ebi Mayo, ribs, akamaru shinaji, karaku spicy and the classic Nirvana (forgot the actual name). All of them were pretty good except for the ribs... The ribs were pretty burnt and we asked if that was normally how it was like and it was indeed supposed to be that burnt... Though it didn't match our taste buds as it was so burnt there was bitterness to the ribs so we had it returned. Overall the service, food and atmosphere was great though. Worth a return.
I recently dined at Ippudo Ramen in NYC and had an incredible experience! We started with the bao, which was absolutely amazing—soft, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Then came the ramen, and it was everything we hoped for. The broth was rich and savory, and the noodles had that ideal chewy texture. It arrived at the perfect temperature: hot, but just right for digging in and enjoying the full depth of flavors. As an unexpected bonus, we spotted Kid Cudi sitting beside us, which made for a fun celebrity sighting and added to the excitement of the evening. Overall, Ippudo delivered an outstanding meal with great atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Never disappoints! Ever! My wife & I have been eating here for a long while. We have been to Tokyo twice and we can say that so far, this spot comes as close to Japan as we can get! Taste is VERY spot on with the ramen we had over there. Flagrant aromas from the broth, spicy is perfect for spicy lovers, pork buns are a MUST. - We prefer lunch service over dinner service. It feels a lot more intimate and relaxed. Service is a whole lot better from lunch from what we've experienced!
We always go to Ippudo when we are in Osaka. This Ippudo has a whole different feel than Osaka. It has many more menus to choose from but we had the same thing as we have in Osaka. It was so good. The price is much higher than Japan though. We had three ramen with one extra noodles, paid $72.
Edit - Went there for second time. I absolutely didn’t like the fact that the server came and ask me to increase the tip to 30%. He literally came and in front of my friends asked what you didn’t like about the service, and I said it was good. Then he was like then please increase the tip amount and put the cheque in front of me. Absolutely unprofessional. Even though the food is good, but I just won’t go again! Amazing Ramens. We ordered 2 vegetarian Ramen (forgot the names, but one had tofu, and one was spicy mushroom). Both were equally amazing and one of the best ramen I had. I liked the spicy mushroom one better. A friend also ordered chicken bun, which wasn’t good (and she compared it with a tofu bun she had earlier). Another good think we ordered was a strawberry dessert (again forgot the name), but it was quite innovative. The ambience is good, there is a good wait time. Overall highly recommended!!
Spacious place, nice decor. For appetizers got the tempura shrimp coated with sauces and the fried potatoes with buttery soy. Both were amazing. Very flavorful, decent quantity. Also got the chicken bao bun which was good. chicken was juicy and fresh. For the main got the featured dragon ramen. Tasty broth, flavor packed. The pork pieces were very tasty.
Probably the best Ramen in New York! Try the deep fried shrimps, it is excellent! When you arrive all the personnel will welcome you with big shout. There is usually a long line, so be prepared to wait before getting your table. I had a vegetarian Ramen which was succulent! It was worth waiting. I do highly recommend if you visit the neighborhood.
The food over here is amazing, they have a ton of vegetarian options, which is pretty rare for a ramen place. It's their 2nd location I've visited, at both the locations the food was incredible. Since this is probably one of the busier locations, the service was a little lacking but overall the food more than makes up for it. I definitely recommend making a reservation before heading there!
- Service: Every time a new customer enters the restaurant, all staff members greet you in Japanese, which adds an interesting touch. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. - Vibe: The restaurant has a cozy, clean, and nicely decorated interior. - Pork Bun and Shrimp Bun: The buns were incredibly soft, and both the pork and shrimp fillings were delicious. The shrimp had a satisfying crispiness, while the pork had a delightful aroma. When paired with the Bon Chon Bun, the experience is taken to the next level. - AKAMARU SHINAJI and KARAKA SPICY (both with added egg): The Karaka bowl had a delightful spicy aroma. Both bowls featured a creamy tonkotsu broth, fresh pork belly chashu, bamboo shoots, scallions, and perfectly marinated, jammy eggs. - Yuzu Souffle Glace: This dessert was very refreshing. After indulging in the richness of the ramen, the sourness and sweetness of this dish helped balance my palate, making it a wonderful way to conclude my lunch. - Overall, we give this restaurant a 5/5 rating. Highly recommended for all ramen fans.
I loveeed the atmosphere of this restaurant! We needed to grab a quick bite before continuing with our day, and I'm so glad this ended up being where we went. The staff was very friendly and kind, the vibe of the place was very calm and inviting, and the table we were sat at was very large and perfect for our group. We mainly ordered apps and there was a wonderful selection for everyone. You can't go wrong with the pork buns, almost all of us ended up getting at least 1! Bathrooms were also very clean and easy to reach in the basement, decorated with pretty displays as well! Overall great find and would love to go again!
Absolutely delicious. Went on a friend's recommendation and it turned out even better than I expected. I was staying nearby and ended up eating there at every opportunity. All the ramens I tried were delicious, but you also absolutely must try the pork bun, it is one of the best things I ever tried. Must visit if you are in NYC.
I am a big fan of Ramen and even this was beyond my expectations. I had the best gyoza I can remember, and the Yuzu Shoyu had an amazingly flavorful broth. The atmosphere was excellent and the service was very good. I would return again, and recommend it to anyone for a love of Japanese food.
I haven't been to Ippudo in over 5+ years and was so surprised how impressed I was. The inside is very vibey but know that if you're a smaller group, you're likely going to be a communal table but that didn't bother me at all. We had the Kara-Age Aka to start and it was perfectly crispy and delightful with the mayo shredded lettuce. It was good but I still prefer the bao buns over this. We both ordered the Akamaru Shinaji and the broth was SO tasty. I ate the whole bowl and was stuffed.
When walking into Ipudo I was greeted by the staff and with no wait was brung to my own table with a small cube having QR codes on all the sides. (I went to IPPUDO when it was happy hour) My order: Pork bun ($10) - the bun is really soft, the pork melted in my mouth, the lettuce has a nice crunch. The pork bun is a must try if you eat here!! SHIROMARU MOTOAJI ($20) - the noodles are good, broth tastes normal, the Bamboo shoots are a little bit tough but edible, and the chashu tasted like ham. If you really want a pork bun or want a cozy and relaxing place to hangout either with friends or by yourself, Ipudo is a good restaurant to be at. Preferably at happy hour if you want great food at a good price.
The food is great. I ordered 3, all different flavor buns, that exceeded my expectations. The pickle tartar sauce was an eye opening experience, the chicken was great, the shrimp was pretty much the same thing but seafood, and the pork was tender, savory, and a perfect final bite, as I unknowingly saved the best for last. Don't be afraid to go in and try!
Always love going to Ippudo! This was my first time going to this location and the vibes were great. Never a long wait and service was awesome. Tried the miso ramen this time and it was creamy and delicious- pork super soft and toppings added great flavor. The lychee soda 🤩 probably one of the best sodas ever
What can I tell you…. One of my fav ramen places. Took my kids out for a meal… had a GREAT time. I got a special ramen that came in extra large. Apparently I was one of 2 ppl to order extra large in the past 2 - 3 months lol… I had no idea how big it was. It was frigggin enormous. I could not finish even with the help of my 16 yr old. Had to pack for home. But good lord was it tasty. The food was on point with broth rich with flavor and melty meats. Garlic toppings, spicy flakes and extra sauces galore. This meal was everything my boys and I needed at the end of a great day in the city.
Absolutely loved the food! It was amazing all of it. We got some of bao buns i had the pork and the veggie one and both was absolutely amazing! I have to highlight the veggie bao bun because it was a light crunch with the soft bun that was flavorful and delicious that i honestly would go back to NY just for this bun. Sushi was delicious and so was the ramen. the peppers we got for an appetizer were also very yummy! Everything we ate was incredible. The atmosphere was a really incredible vibe and you got to watch them make the ramen too! Definitely would go back.
Came with a friend for dinner a few weeks back. Despite the frigid temperatures and impending storm, the restaurant was already packed on a Friday at 6 PM. We waited about half an hour for a table …
Ipuddo is nice ,I been here and i love the ramen. The staff was very nice too. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yummy ramen with a fantastic tonkotsu broth: uber savory and clung well to the noodles for delicious bite after bite. I also enjoyed the ratio of the toppings to the noodles. There's more seating…
Excellent ramens and all sorts of small appetizers professionally done for you right in the open in the back of the restaurant. When we entered the restaurant, all waiters yelled “welcome”.
We will be back! Food, service, ambiance and overall vibe was great! Not to mention pricing was more than fair for NYC!
Ippudo 4th Ave in the NYU area is a large & nicely decored ramen restaurant with lots of seating & a good selection of ramen & other Japanese dishes. Perfect for cold & rainy New York days. Only real complaint is that the prices for menu items is exceedingly high, which would limit my coming here often.
Stopped by for lunch recently when on holiday in the big apple. Had the nirvana karaka spicy vegetarian ramen and the fried fingerling potato that had truffle on top. The standout dish for me was the fried fingerling potato. It was fabulous with just the right amount of crunch. Having the truffle def elevated it to legendary status. Now this is saying something considering you might be going here for the ramen! The ramen was meh- at best a 4/5. In my opinion, jinya (in Vegas) ramen has a better broth and veggie toppings. Now this can obviously vary place to place and day to day. Would I go back here for the ramen? Maybe not. But I would pay top dollar for that potato.
Amazing vibe. This place welcomed my party and I with a warm greeting and the front of the house staff made sure to keep that warmth going throughout our dining experience. We got the three different vegetarian ramen options and they were all really good. I’d personally recommend the spicy option. Very simple ramen, not to cocky, very delicious, perhaps too simple for my taste tho. I’d like to come and try the tonkotsu, as that is my go-to.
ended up at ippudo since cafe 2by2 wasn't open at the time we expected. this bowl of ramen turned out to be just what we needed on a cold winter day. i ordered the karaka spicy ramen ($24) with a poached egg ($3) on the side. the noodles are in a pork tonkotsu broth with thin noodles, chashu, and scallions. it's also topped with the house blended niku-miso bolognese, garlic oil, and fried onion chips. for the price, i was a bit disappointed that there weren't other toppings included (it would have been nice to have some bamboo shoots or fishcake). however, the flavors of the dish were delicious, and the texture of the noodles were just right. the other bowl pictured is the nirvana karaka ($27), which has a mushroom infused broth with a soy milk base, thick wavy noodles, marinated carrots, fried enoki mushroom tempura, tofu chasu, and kaiware (or daikon radish sprouts). the spiced niku-miso bolognese was on the side in this one. this one was also liked by the table and, as you might be able to tell from the ingredients, is vegetarian!
This was our second time here. The first time was 4-5 years ago. When we had come the first time it was my first time having ramen and I was convinced it was the best in the world. Now coming back - it was delicious but not as good as I remember. I'm unsure if there are different owners or chefs but the portions seemed smaller (possibly due to covid?) We got the pork bao buns and we both got the Still an amazing ramen place especially if you live in an area where the ramen sucks (I have 2 local ramen places that are awful but drive about an hr to get good ramen). The food was very good and the water was constantly refilled which was great on such a hot day.
Bustling lively atmosphere with satisfactory service and knowledgeable waitstaff makes it easy to have a great time here. We were able to walk in less than an hour after opening but it is usually packed so consider making a reservation to play it safe. The menu is easily accessible with a smart phone and the food was pleasing.
Great ramen - but that’s a dime a dozen in NYC! I got the miso / yuzu broth and it was a bit… bland. They don’t bring any flavorings automatically. It was a nice hearty ramen though. The egg is a must-add. The corn was really delish too. The cucumber appetizer was fine, but pretty small and not too special for ~9 - our review: we could have made that at home. The service is nothing extraordinary and (-) points for not having a printed menu. QR codes are a vibe kill Get the dragon ramen broth over the yuzu one for a more punchy profile
I’ve gone here a number of times, and have enjoyed it. That being said, I’ve had better ramen (at Tonchin) and the matcha tiramisu was incredibly overpriced! $22??! It wasn’t even that good. Service was also slow and we had to wave down a server multiple times.
This was my first time visiting Ippudo in New York, having previously been to their locations in Bangkok and Japan. This spot feels noticeably more upscale compared to its counterparts. The ramen was solid, maintaining the standard I’ve come to expect, though it didn’t quite hit the spot for me this time. That said, the ambiance and overall experience were impressive, making it a nice place to dine.
Ippudo East Village easily serves some of the best ramen I’ve ever had. I consumed my bowl in minutes. The broth was rich and flavorful, the noodles perfectly chewy, and everything came out piping hot and beautifully balanced. It’s clear they take their craft seriously. That said, it’s also quite pricey for the portion size, and I was a bit put off when the staff requested additional tips on top of the already included 20% gratuity. It didn’t ruin the meal, but it did sour the experience slightly. Also, a few gluten-free colleagues in my group couldn’t find much they could eat, which was disappointing given how popular the place is. Still, the ramen alone makes it worth visiting. If you’re not restricted by diet and don’t mind paying a premium, Ippudo delivers an exceptional bowl of comfort.
I recently visited this place, and it was a good experience! The chicken ramen had a broth that wasn’t overly thick but still packed a great depth of flavor—comforting and satisfying. The veggie buns were a standout for me, absolutely delicious with their soft texture and flavorful filling. The ambiance is trendy yet cozy, making it a great spot to unwind with friends or even dine solo. The service was efficient, and the staff were attentive. Whether you’re a ramen enthusiast or just looking for a good vibe and tasty food in the East Village, Ippudo NY is worth the visit.
I had a delightful experience at Ippudo NY! Food: The ramen was exceptional—rich, flavorful broth and perfectly cooked noodles. The appetizer options were also enjoyable, though I found some a bit on the salty side. Overall, the quality was impressive. Service: The service was attentive and friendly. My server was knowledgeable about the menu and made great suggestions, though there were a couple of delays in getting our orders. Atmosphere: The vibe of the restaurant was lively and inviting. It has a modern feel but maintains a cozy atmosphere perfect for enjoying a meal with friends. Despite a few minor issues, I'd highly recommend Ippudo for anyone looking for delicious ramen and a lively dining experience!
not bad, but not as impressive as I expected. The ramen had good flavor, but the broth felt a bit lighter than the original in Japan. The noodles were nice, though the portion felt small for the price. Service was friendly and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, but overall, it didn’t quite capture that “wow” factor. Still, it’s a decent spot if you’re craving ramen in the city.
We first ordered takoyaki, edamame, and aioli chips to share, and they were honestly amazing. Everything we ordered for the table was really delicious. We tried calling to make a reservation but couldn’t get through, and if you’re a large group without a reservation, they make you wait until all your friends arrive. My friends ordered ramen and really liked it. The portions were very generous. We also ordered buns. I tried the chicken bun and absolutely loved it. I had the Manhattan Bridge sushi. It was good, but I wish I had ordered the spicy shrimp tempura instead. Overall, the food was tasty and enjoyable. A great spot, especially for sharing plates with friends.
Good ramen. The staff was all very nice and they let us sit there and chat for a while without pushing us out. Also a nice ambiance and space. Would go back

I love this place for the food and the convivial atmosphere. And the vegan broth options. Yummy food. But if you want a quiet place for a conversation unless you come in a larger group that merits …
Nearly $40 (including tax and no drink) for a middle-size bowl at lunch... hadn't been in the place for about five years. Not many customers. Ramen was good but with those prices, I won't be return…
It was good, quick, but overpriced for ramen. The staff was friendly. I got seated right away.
Delicious but I can't go too often because it's expensive. They always provide really great service.
Great noodles. Great ambiance. Looked cool and the service was good. Just didn't like that ramen for 25$ doesn't come with a boiled egg.
As far as vegetarian ramen goes, definitely one of the best choices in New York. Be prepared to order extra noodles, because you’ll have plenty of broth leftover.

Ippudo Ramen in NYC feels like a Manhattanite's idea of what a ramen shop should be — and that's not a good thing. The portions are comparatively small and the prices are higher than you'd expect from a ramen shop. The karaage was badly overcooked. The atmosphere is ruined by dark lighting and pop music. The only saving graces are the excellent, attentive servers and a halfway decent pork bun. I feel that you could go elsewhere and get ramen twice as good at half the price.
Always enjoyable eating at ippudo. If you’re the type of person that enjoy eating a large selection of food don’t sit on the center table with a make shift fire place with mirror. We order a bunch of appetizers drinks that limited the amount of space we had for our ramen 🍜. We also added a bunch of additions to our ramen. Thai delayed how long it took for everything to come out due to lack of space. The wait was short today but it a usual 30min - 1:30hr wait. Rest room is located on the lower level. The bar in the front wasn’t open either. Hit the spot but it is on the pricy side.
This is possible the cheapest quality ramen I’ve had in a long time. The quality of the meat was absurd. It was two incredibly thin pieces of ham. They charged $3.5 extra for an egg. The noodles were akin to angel hair pasta. The one silver lining was the pork bun. Needless to say, second visit—no thanks!
The wait times are long for large groups. Communal seating if you are by yourself or dining as two. A small bar area while you wait serves appetizers and drinks, an informal setting with standing capacity. Beer/Drinks: Asahi super dry beer - very good with the chicken! Appetizers: The Chicken karaage was probably our favorite here. You could also get the karaage rice as a main if you're a fan of the chicken! The shrimp appetizer Ebimayo was yum as well. Buns: We ordered chicken (karaage), vegetarian (eggplant) and shrimp buns! Would recommend getting these as appetizers - soft buns with flavorful filling. Rolls: Shrimp tempura roll and the Manhattan vegetarian roll was overpriced for the portion and the taste. 20$ for each was not worth it! Do not recommend. Ramen: Spicy Miso (veg broth + port broth) are the popular option here with the most toppings. They had a nice spice kick to it but wasn't too spicy. The raw onions in the ramen didn't go well with the other toppings but over all a decent ramen. You could ask for a chili paste (Bakudan), but it's an extra 3$. Yuzu Shoyu was a fish based broth with an option to get your meat of choice. This broth was very flavorful but it does have a fishy smell and taste to it. Though the ramen was flavorful, the portions were relatively small and the price tag too high! 29$ for the spicy miso ramen ~ didn't hold its value.
Inside is beautiful, and I enjoy the selection of N/A drinks, including some cool kombucha. The pork buns were a *little* chewy, but decent overall. I ordered the akamaru shinaji that had the incorrect meat on it. The picture on the menu and the description say "pork chashu," which this clearly wasn't. I ordered a side of pork chashu just to verify, and you can see in the photos that the meat in the bowl and out of the bowl are not the same. It was disappointing, especially for how expensive it is here vs places in NJ and Philly - which are much better quality. I would have considered coming back for the cool atmosphere, but the price and quality doesn't match.
The only ramen I'll eat. It took awhile for my wife to get me on the ramen train since it never really fills me up and always seem to be left unsatisfied... Buddy of mine introduced me to Ippudo in NYC and I haven't never been disappointed. The place is a vibe and very convenient drive in for me from NJ. Much prefer to travel for food rather than compromise quality. I usually get the Karaka spicy, extra noodle and add a boiled egg. Oh and their lychee martini, UGH. Could live off of them!
The service is welcoming and quick. While the ramen isn’t quite up to par, especially when compared to the exceptional Ramen in Vancouver BC, which sets a high standard, it might be challenging to find a better one elsewhere.
I came here this past Saturday and was disappointed. my husband and I have been here many times we and we think the chef changed as the food was different and tasted different. Ordered the karaage chicken and it used to come with a side dipping sauce and it came plain this time. we ordered the karaka spicy ramen and the pork has changed as it was basically a slice of pork and not their past thick, charred pork. we didn’t enjoy it. it was way too dark in there as well.
Ambient ramen experience in LES! Right off Union Sq, great place for a big group of friends. Have to say the experience of eating here is quite pleasing, but for me the food is so so. I got a pork bun, which was quite good, and the spicy miso ramen. Though it photographed beautifully, the ramen was just okay, I found it a bit too oily and just texturally off. Wasn’t super impressed with the other flavors. Also, kind of wild to me that the soft boiled egg was an extra topping and didn’t come with it automatically. I’ve come here a few times now for the vibe and convenient location but left a bit unsatisfied.
Fun, vibey restaurant whose hard-to-find door, dark lighting, and "cool but class" decor give it a slightly mysterious, almost speakeasy-like atmosphere. The staff is all super friendly, and I appreciate that you can either end up at your own table or at one of the long, cafeteria-style shared tables (perfect for people watching or potentially meeting someone new, if you're lucky). I had heard amazing things about Ippudo's ramen, but I was honestly far less impressed by the food compared to the ambiance; the noodles were solid, with a decent bite and the right thickness, but the broth was a smidge lacking in flavor. To be totally fair, I got their vegetarian option, which automatically has a pretty steep disadvantage to the meat-based menus, but it still seemed to be lacking in "wow" factor compared to other plant-based ramen dishes. The tofu slices felt quite bland and didn't do a great job soaking up the broth, and while I enjoyed the crisp of the fried mushrooms on top, there wasn't a ton of them and you had to eat them super quickly before they got soggy. We also tried their takoyaki, which was tasty, but not really a must-try compared to other Japanese restaurants around the city. I had a great time at Ippudo, but I don't think it'll be at the top of my bucket list, especially since it trends quite pricey for the quality.
I am only giving you 3 stars for your efforts towards handicaped accessibility for which you have a separate door and a ramp to easily access it using a wheelchair. But guys what the hell did you do …
Honestly, I saw ratings about how overrated and overpriced the ramen is…but still wanted to try for myself. And I should have listened. It’s just a standard ramen not really worth $25-29. It could be more flavorful, meat is soft just not super soft, and noodles are fine, just not worth almost $30. Service was fast and server was very polite though. I would not be so picky if it wasn’t for the extreme price but.
I was unimpressed. The service was not excellent. We ordered add ons to our food that were not brought out until about 10 minutes after everything else. The prices were higher than most other ramen places I've been to recently and the food could have been better.
Came in on Thursday at 8:15 pm without reservation and got seated right away. We both ordered Akamaru Shinaji ramen and it was just OK. Portions seemed smaller than other ramen spots. Also disappointed by the nickel and diming with the ramen toppings. Almost everything is extra, even the egg. Pork bun were delicious. Service was fast and good for the most part but we were very annoyed that our $16 small beer came with overflowing foam taking up a third of a glass. It made a mess on the table and we had to wait forever for the foam to settle to be able to drink it. What happened to the ippudo we remember? Quality and attention to detail is no longer there.
We went here on Saturday afternoon. It wasn’t too busy but still full. We were seated immediately. No one came to attend to us for the next 5 mins. There were wait staff around but for some reason didn’t see us trying to catch their attention. We ordered Takoyaki for appetizers, the last 2 we ate were still cold in the inside and the rest were warm. Told the waiter about it after we ate. We ordered ramen and it was lacking in flavor. The atmosphere looks modern and cozy.
The reason why I only gave 2 stars because my friend and I got terrible service from our server. I add 1 star for another servers that helping, being nice and professional. We were on our lunch break and want to eat at the place near by our work. We saw this place has tons of reviews and mostly good so we didn’t expect very rude service form here. Our server is a Spanish guy, wearing glasses, curry dark hair. He seems nice at the beginning asking us what we want to eat but when he takes our order he is very unprofessional. We did scanned the barcode menu and looked at it but we still didn’t have an idea what the food looked like so we went on website to see some food picture that another customer reviews. When we pointed out the pictures on the website and he made his face unhappy then said the restaurant doesn’t have that menu anymore and slammed the barcode banner on our table! We were shock of that behavior. Then he said he has to close the lunch by 4PM then walk to take care another table and didn’t come back to us again close to 4PM. We ordered ramen, steak, ribs and lots of appetizers but he still asked this was all we wanted to order. I said yes, we shared the food. My friend asked for extra chili, our server forgot then we had to ask another server and they served us good. Then steak and ribs came he didn’t give us fork or knife. Who will you cut big piece of ribs with chopsticks? didn’t make sense at all. Then my friend want more chili and asked him, he went to the kitchen and came back with big bowl of chili and slammed the bowl on the table then said this should be enough right? We could tell from his tone of voice he was being sarcastic and this was it. We are done with rude and unacceptable behavior of this guy. We don’t know how many customer get bad service from him but maybe they didn’t say anything but this will effect to the restaurant reputation in the future. Disappointed!
Our experience was really bad. The host was really rude and they didn’t want to let my sister come inside cause she was 10 minutes late. Afterwards, the waiter didn’t want to serve her. When my bro…

Today we mistook an item on the bill for tip, so we input no tip on the machine. Once the waitress mentioned that to us, we happily agreed to adjust the tip. However the treatment afterwards was EXTREMELY RUDE and ILLEGAL. We told her we did not want to be recharged and were asking about other ways to pay the tip. She ignored us. We consistently told her no while she walked to the counter to cancel and recharge us. Despite that, she forcefully recharged without our consent instead of getting a manager. Later when we were putting in the tip after she forcefully recharged us, she was inches away from our face and stared at us input the tip. Then she glared at us, snatched the machine and walked away. The whole experience was extremely rude and unsettling. Never experienced this sort of service in my life.
DO NOT ORDER PICKUP. Restaurant canceled my pickup order 30 mins in while I was in transit to pick up in the freezing cold. Upon arrival they were not apologetic and did nothing to remedy the situation. Despite having been to other equally busy restaurants with much more varied menus, they greatly struggle with managing volume with many customers. Please work to have a better customer experience especially when you are busy. Why do you not take reservations?
As a half-Japanese guest, I am very selective about where I go for Japanese cuisine. I used to love this place, and so did my family. However, since the host and waitstaff have changed, the experience has declined. During my most recent visit, the waitress snatched the card off the table instead of politely asking whether she could take it to process the payment. That behavior was abrupt and unprofessional. Additionally, I forgot a jacket at your restaurant. I called two days later and was told to come back. Only after arriving did I learn that it had been discarded because lost and found items are kept for only a few days. This policy was never mentioned to me when I called. I raised this issue with the host, and she told me the office was closed but that she would call me. It has now been nearly a week, and I have received literally nothing; no call or follow-up. As much as I enjoy the ramen, there are other places in the area where I can dine alone or with my family without dealing with unprofessional, careless, or self-serving behavior from staff. This is coming from a guest who had family visiting from Europe while also managing a legal matter, and who simply expected basic courtesy and communication. I strongly suggest reviewing your staff’s customer service standards and lost-and-found procedures before more guests choose competing ramen restaurants in the area. It would be unfortunate for the quality of your food to be overshadowed by irresponsible and customer-unfriendly conduct. I would appreciate a response regarding how this matter will be addressed.
Food was mediocre. Akamaru was bland, Dragon was the decent one of the two that I ordered. Was told to “watch out” by female server when serving our food. Insane that “excuse me” wasn’t the standard. Bathroom smelled. And at the end of this $90+ total dinner for two bowls of ramen, fries, and a sparkling water, a guest started CRAWLING on the table lol. Bearded taller server was nice though, was the only who bothered to ask how our dinner was going even when he wasn’t our primary server. Please give all of my 20% tip that I STILL gave to him, if possible.
The hostess, the bartender, and our waiter were all great. Unfortunately, the experience was completely ruined once the manager showed up. Minutes after our birthday group of nine sat down and received our drinks, the manager rudely told us to order, eat, and leave as soon as possible because they “needed the table” for other customers waiting. The tone was dismissive and unprofessional, especially for a group celebrating a birthday. No customer should be made to feel rushed or unwelcome like that after being seated and served. Very disappointing management behavior. I would not recommend this location. 😳 😱 😡

Ippudo on Broadway: A Ramen Haven Worth the Wait
There's a palpable buzz on Broadway, and it often leads straight to Ippudo. If you've ever walked past Ippudo on Broadway, you know the scene. Even when it’s absolutely freezing outside, with a storm brewing, this spot is packed. My friend and I experienced it firsthand on a Friday evening around 6 PM – the place was already buzzing. Expect a wait, maybe half an hour or so, but trust me, it’s part of the authentic experience and well worth it.Everyone raves about the ramen here, and for good reason. It’s consistently delicious, and the portions are wonderfully genero
