Avis sur Patent Pending Broadway
The first time, I couldn’t find the location and had to look for it twice, as during the day it operates as a coffee shop. The vibe is definitely cool a speakeasy style bar hidden behind a secret door. I had to wait around 15–20 minutes to find a seat. They have a wide variety of cocktails, but I didn’t notice some of the basic classics, and honestly, I didn’t ask if they could make an Amaretto Sour. The drinks were good, and overall it’s a cool place to enjoy a cocktail.
In New York for my birthday, my daughter suggested we visit this speakeasy for cocktails. We arrived at exactly the right time as it was just opening (it's a coffee shop until 4pm then at 5pm the secret door opens!). We were given seats at the bar. I found the cocktail menu a little confusing but the bartender was brilliant, asking what I liked to drink and making suggestions. He was so knowledgeable and watching him make the cocktails was a lesson in itself. We told him it was my birthday and the fun began! We chatted for ages, swapping life experiences and laughing lots. Then we met some of the other staff and celebrated with another guest who was also having a birthday. A second cocktail and shots on the house for my special day, so very sweet, thank you. I've read some of the negative reviews of Patent Pending and they don't equate to my experience. If you're in New York, go here, go early, and be yourself!
One of my fave “hidden” gems of NYC! speakeasy vibes are so cool and the staff really sets the tone. Came in on a Monday night so there wasn’t much of a wait or trouble getting booth seats. our host/server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made us laugh repeatedly. when we came in a second time a couple weeks later she even recognized us and welcomed us back in! that type of vibe is a rare find at popular bars so I will definitely be coming back… for more than just the awesome drinks 🥂
Just moved to New York and wanted to explore this place. SOOOO HAPPY I DID. The red head I think her name is tess was so amazing and kind. I loved her! She made my experience so great. She gave amazing recs and clearly knew what she was talking about! Also DRINKS WERE SO GOOD. Highly recommend.
10s!! can’t say enough good things. drinks were amazing but the service was even better. bella was so attentive and personable. she helped our entire party find drinks that suited each persons individual taste which was very impressive and really made our experience. will be back!
I visited Patent Pending on a Thursday with friends a few months ago. Our server Bella was an absolute standout. From the moment we sat down, her service was warm, attentive, and effortlessly polished—exactly what you hope for in a speakeasy like this. She clearly knows the menu inside and out, offering thoughtful recommendations and explaining cocktails with genuine enthusiasm and impressive detail. Nothing felt rushed, yet we were never left waiting; she struck that perfect balance that makes you feel both cared for and relaxed. The atmosphere of this beautiful space really brought the whole evening together, and we can’t wait to return!
What a cozy & intimate atmosphere with great music. The bar stool seats were a bit uncomfortable but we were just happy to experience this place. We arrived around 10:30 PM on a Sunday and had to wait maybe 15-20 minutes max for a spot. The “Light Me Up” cocktail was chefs kiss! I had two of them 🍸
This is quickly becoming my new favorite cocktail bar in NYC. The entrance truly gives a speakeasy vibe. The ambiance is dark and old timey, and always has a great playlist going (shoutout Diana!). The cocktails are delicious and range in price. This is a great place if you want to treat yourself to a few good drinks with your friends.
Enjoy the terrific cocktail experience here. I love the theme where their menu includes the story of Nikola Tesla and his battle with Edison to give us the electricity. We’ll enjoy. Fantastic cocktails, excellent service. The bartender had a lovely chat with us about the nuances of the drink we were having so we could appreciate it even more.
Tucked away in the back of coffee shop this isn’t the easiest place to find, but it’s worth the effort. Don’t be shy. Push that coffee shop door open and venture inside where you’ll be met by a warm welcome. The cocktail list is fantastic with thoughtfully crafted drinks that take you on a flavor journey. The small bites menu is great with lots of options for everyone and a nibble of food is a smart move if you’re having more than one drink.
What a hidden gem! The cocktails at Patent Pending are truly spectacular. I especially loved the “Light Me Up” — a bourbon sour-style drink with a sweet peppercorn rim that was absolute perfection. The “Currents & Coils” was another standout — a tropical delight. Can’t wait to return!
Loved this spot! It’s hidden behind a coffee shop and feels like a secret—dark, cozy, and perfect for date night. The drinks were super creative and seriously good. There’s a cool vibe with a nod to Nikola Tesla, who actually lived in the building. The bar was quite empty when we reached, but filled up pretty quickly. Definitely a must-go bar in the City!
This is one of the few bars in NYC you take to impress someone. Patent Pending is an awesome speakeasy bar serving very creative cocktails in a dimly lit discreet setting behind a cafe. The experience is like no other bar in NYC where the service goes above and beyond and the drinks are carefully crafted for taste and visual appeal. Prices are higher than your usual speakeasy and a lot more than your casual bar but expect to pay for quality and the unique and memorable experience this bar delivers. During the holiday and summer season, expect wait times to be seated, as the bar is quite small so arrive a few minutes before opening time. I definitely recommend you visit if you're passionate about mixology or interested in immersing yourself in the fine NYC nightlife.
I've had my eye on this bar for awhile and was very excited to visit. Now, this place is the modern day definition of speakeasy because I embarrasingly walked past the location probably 5 times before I finally found the entrance. After we finally got inside, our party of 3 was seated at a booth. They have 2 sections to the place - one main section with booths and bar seating (and VERY dimly lit), and another section that is a separate room with tables. The separate room was more brightly lit. We sat at a booth in the main section of the bar - I would say a party of 4 will fit in the booth but it'll be pretty cozy seating. The menu of this place was amazing and the variety of drinks was awesome. I cannot recall which drinks we got but we got a variety with a range of flavor profiles and spirit fowardness. The drinks were all very balanced (in their appropriate ways) and so delicious. I would definitely recommend this place for a cozy date! (probably not for larger parties)
Patent Pending is an intimate and vibrant speakeasy located in Nikolas Tesla's previous living quarters. The Radio Wave Building is also where he experimented on.... you guessed it. Radio Waves. Creative and unique cocktail offerings. We enjoyed "Into the Realm" and "Radio Wave". Pricey. Not really worth the $32 each price tag!
I have actually been here multiple times. Drinks are always great, the vibe is very intimate and romantic. But the service has definitely gone down hill. My most recent visit, I was there on a weekend day, we were a group of four. There was only one waitress attending to the whole bar. She was visibly overwhelmed and frustrated. The previous times I have been there, more staff was definitely present. Or you had the option to just grab your drink at the bar and sit wherever you`d like, either is better than having one extremely angry person try and serve the entire place with no help.
We waited in line for a bit, but it was definitely worth it. The cocktails were amazing. I had the Mr. Muir and it was delicious. The place is very dark and speakeasy style, so I could not really take photos. This is literally the only one I got. The vibe was great though. It is a really fun spot for a date. We went for a girls’ night out and had such a good time. Definitely a speakeasy style bar to keep in mind if you are in
Patent Pending offers a unique speakeasy atmosphere, but my experience fell a bit short of expectations. The bar was overcrowded, which made it difficult to fully enjoy the ambiance. While my own drink was well-balanced and thoughtfully crafted, several of the cocktails my friends ordered lacked the same level of refinement. The martini, in particular, divided opinions because my friends found it too strong, though I personally appreciated its boldness and clean execution. Despite the Halloween rush, the host at the entrance was remarkably courteous and made every effort to accommodate guests, which stood out as a highlight of the evening and something I genuinely appreciated. Overall, it’s a decent experience, though the crowding and inconsistency in drinks kept it from being memorable. 6/10
Im conflicted. Patent Pending definitely knows how to make a drink. My wife and I went for a date night a few weeks ago and the cocktails were just fantastic—creative, balanced, and downright delicious. I had Fire & Robots from their seasonal menu, and it was easily one of the best I’ve had in a while. You can tell they really care about the craft, and that’s what will keep me coming back for more. That said, the overall vibe was thrown off a bit by the certain members of the staff. The host—this girl with a frizzy hair —was up front seemingly filming (I think) social media videos?? It wasn’t like she was neglecting her job or out in the open doing it, but it just felt totally out of place for the setting and came across as a bit unprofessional. I get that places want to keep things light and fun, but in a place like this it just doesn’t land right. The server, wasn’t as obvious with her behavior, but they definitely weren’t far behind. While it didn’t take away from the experience, it definitely didn’t align with a bar that’s trying to have a more polished, cool vibe. They both seemed to be a be far too young and, honestly, immature to be at a place like this. If the drinks weren’t so phenomenal, I probably wouldn’t be as forgiving. But overall, it wasn’t a bad experience—it just wasn’t what I was expecting based on the reputation. Would’ve been better if the staff was a bit more in tune with the type of place they were working at.
I had two cocktails at the bar, however they were just average and nothing special. Don't get me wrong they were not bad but no better then many other cocktail bars in the area. The speakeasy style works well for this bar. The ambiance is great and the setting is very intimate. The staff are attentive and friendly. Cocktails are around 25 USD
Came in Friday around a month ago, and the girls hosting and serving were just flat out awful. It seems like they've never worked in a bar or restaurant a day in their lives. A bunch of kids who are too busy drinking and chatting away with their friends seem to run this place? Felt rather unusual to spend so much money in a bar whose employees almost all seemed barely 21 (if even that) and lacked the basic professionalism to understand not having hang-out time while your paying customers are waiting to order drinks. AVOID.
