Avis sur STATE Grill and Bar Broadway
Pretty darn good. I had the Lobster pot pie, was very Lobster filled, but the peas in it were on the dry side. That dish 4*s. For desserts the cookie platter I felt was lacking, the Kong is awesome, the chocolate cake was also amazing. My brother had the NY strip steak and it was awesome with a lobster tail, again awesome. Service was very good, my water glass was never left alone. Cool bathrooms below the restaurant.
Wow - one of the best dinners we had in NYC! We didn't go up to the top of the ESB but the STATE Grill and Bar is not to be passed by! Our server Jantony made our experience all that much more fun and was really great to us throughout the evening. We enjoyed the food, the ambiance, the drinks, and just the overall time we got to spend in such a beautiful spot. 10/10 would recommend and will definitely be back next time I'm in the big Apple!
Awesome place, food is excellent and the steak and mushrooms are amazing. Chef Morgan did not disappoint. Desert was also amazing. The waiting from the staff was also excellent and super friendly. Will come again.
We made advanced reservations for a group of 48 people from Michigan while touring NYC. This restaurant was a nice find. The food was delicious and was very well presented. I had spare ribs, and a vanilla dessert with a special cookie they made. They put us in a downstairs room which allowed for a quieter, intimate setting and everyone had a good time visiting.
Everything about this place deserves five stars. The food was absolutely delicious, and the ambiance struck the perfect balance, warm and polished without ever feeling pretentious. But what truly set this experience apart was the customer service. Every staff member upheld such a high standard of care, and our waiter in particular stood out as an expert. He guided us through the menu and drinks with thoughtful insight, knew exactly when to step back and when to step in, and carried it all with a refined sense of humor that elevated the entire evening.
It was lovely coming to this Resturant i enjoyed it with my friend Ernesto was such a great Server he was so friendly and the food was amazing me and my friend would come back if Ernesto is my Server because Ernesto was Hospitality at it finest and the State Grill and Bar is a nice Resturant if you come here you will enjoy it for sure.
I am an Event Manager for a Life Sciences company based in NJ. I wanted to share a very positive experience I had holding our Clinical Forum business event at the State Bar & Grill restaurant. First, what an iconic location tucked next door to the Empire State Building; a 7 minute walk from Penn Station to boot! Because we were recording the discussion of the meeting the restaurant has the perfect room in the lower level where the walls are electronically powered to open and close and there is a large monitor behind large doors on the wall. This room is like a “transformer” adjusting to our meeting needs on the fly. The privacy factor was perfection. The manager Ricki Stephens was amazing to work with and lighting fast responsive in the planning process. I must mention that Ricki came through in a clutch with an AV recommendation of Kevin Consolo (Consolosound Audio & Video) who was familiar with the room and knew what we technically needed before I asked. Darrin and his entire wait staff team were top level service. The food quality… amazing! I see this meeting space being perfect for a business or a private social gathering. Elegant and accessible for everyone. We will be back to the State Bar and Grill again.
We absolutely loved our experience at State Grill and Bar in New York! The steak was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and simply outstanding. Every dish we tried was delicious, showcasing great attention to detail and quality ingredients. The service was attentive and welcoming, adding to the overall excellent dining experience. Highly recommend this spot for anyone seeking a fantastic meal in the city!
I loved it here - I'm in NY for a week for work and found this was a perfect Saturday night treat myself option. I was looking at the menu outside and a previous customer told me to go in and that it was amazing, he was correct! Really fantastic service from beginning to end, also super efficient and quick. The steak was divine and definitely recommending to others. Thanks for having me team, I'll definitely be back!
Enjoyed a delicious meal after a great broadway show at State bar and grill. Ernesto our waiter was wonderful! The wagyu beef pigs in a blanket simply delicious! My NY strip steak was cooked to perfection and the Brussel sprouts were outstanding combination of sweet and spicy in their homemade sauce. I will definitely be returning in the future.. drinks were on point! We sipped on two delicious cocktails and what better way to end a meal then with espresso martinis!
We went to the State Grill and Bar as part of our Empire State Building ticket, and what a delicious choice we made. The menu we were able to choose from was deliciously prepared and excellently executed. The steak was perfectly cooked, the oysters were sumptuous, the brussels were perfectly cooked and dessert was divine. The atmosphere was so lovely and the service was expert level. Not to be missed.
Dined on a Friday night with my friends that I have not seen in years. Jay was AMAZING!!! Super chill, patient and kind. We were there 5½ hours and spent over $400. It was worth it!!! Food was really good! We would come back again. Thanks Jay for making it an awesome reunion for us! You're so fantastic!!!!
Quiet. Beautiful setting. Wonderfully enthusiastic and warm server. The water glasses are gorgeous. The food was excellent. We had the truffle chicken sandwich (done on a brioche bun - the only way to go), pink lentil soup finished with coconut yogurt and mushroom shwarma. We finished with the Brooklyn Blackout Cake which was easily the *best* rendition of a layered chocolate cake we have ever had. Bravo. We are definitely coming back the next time we visit NYC!
State grill had been recommended to me by a friend who had been a few months before. They serve a cocktail in an Empire State building glass . We thought we would have a bite to eat there as we were told the food was superb. I have to say the Caesar salad was really good and the burger was okay, but I've had better. In my opinion it was a little costly for what we had. It was worth going for the cocktail and the glass.
Decent quality food in a classy but not stuffy setting at not crazy prices. I popped in here for a treat on my own during a business trip. Ordered the shrimp cocktail (my first american style shrimp cocktail) and a new york strip with the broccoli side. The shrimp cocktail was delicious. Huge shrimp, really tasty sauce, and a fun ESB-shaped bowl. I asked for the steak medium rare and it was distinctly medium so it wasn't the softest or generally best steak I've ever had but was nice enough. The broccoli was a touch under done while distinctly charred. I'd have maybe preferred it a bit more evenly cooked. Both the broccoli and steak were slightly under seasoned with no salt and pepper on the table, so had to ask for S&P. Not major slip ups that were at all enough to significantly dent the overall experience but notable nontheless. Nice dimly lit setting with cosy but not cramped feel. Quality table lamps a nice touch ($180 a piece). Attentive but not fussy staff. Meal price was $112 ($42 for the steak) with a beer as well. Not too bad for the location and quality of food.
Food is delicious, but the octopus salad was filled with a lot of lettuce and only 2 to 3.very tiny pieces of burned octopus. The waiters are re friendly. But the promo to get you to lunch or dine is misleading: it gives the impression that the restaurant is all the way at the top of the Empire State Building. All by all, we had a good lunch.
The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. In fact, I couldn’t have asked for anything more in those three categories. The reason for my 2-star review is because of something that occurred at the tail end of our dinner. On the evening of December 13th, 2025, 6 of us sat down to eat and once we were finished, asked for 3 separate checks. My check covered only myself, and I discovered an added 45% tip which I was told covered the wait staff, bar staff and kitchen crew. I was also told there was nothing that could be done about it and not to tip any more! Seemed a bit extreme to me, but I didn’t want to create a scene in the restaurant and in front of family/friends. I realize this is Manhattan, but my normal 20% tip should be sufficient and had I been dining alone that’s exactly what I would have paid. I later found out that the other two checks were also charged a 45% tip — a bit ridiculous and borderline theft, if you ask me. Thank goodness everything else made for an extremely pleasant night.
We went here off reviews and were very disappointed having been looking for a good steakhouse. We ordered our meal. Bubbles came out warm (not chilled). When our steaks arrived (one medium rare one medium well) we got stuck in. We noticed our side hadn’t arrived. The medium well steak was both over cooked (more well done) and the outside was very charred. It didn’t make for a great eating experience. I asked for it to be returned and a new one which they did fairly pronto and was grateful it came out quick. Second time was much better. I’d probably order one rareness lower than I wanted. When we got the bill, the waiter realised we’d still not had our side. Turns out they’d sold out but no one had communicated anything. A shame! Service was very average. Other tables seemed to get waited on more attentively that us. Having eaten in many a restaurant in big cities before I was very disappointed in the experience for our second to last nite in NYC.
