Great staff many of them started at the bottom working there and eventually bought it from the old owners and have kept the old family values and traditions and they're just great people and it's great food and it's fast and effective service and not too costly great place to get something quick or to bring a family for a nice lunch

Just finished having breakfast here with my young son and we both enjoyed the service and food. I decided to get the grits because you so seldom see it on menus up North and they were simple yet satisfying. So glad to have tried out this local dinner that is walking distance to home. We will definitely be back again.

Upon entering this restaurant on Allerton Avenue it was clean,presentable, and inviting. It was semi-busy. The waiter was very friendly,efficient,and was the only waiter that day,however ,did the work quickly and efficiently. The food was prepared to my taste. I ordered a bacon omlett/homefries w/wholewheat toast and coffee.the environment was pleasant and I completely enjoyed my food and was very satisfied with this particular restaurant. The place is ample. Has wheelchair access,restrooms. Overall, this restaurant is a very nice place to take the family,the food was awesome with excellent customer service.

Gave one star for the atmosphere 'cuz it's kind of dark and gloomy. It just seems like they really don't care about aesthetics, just a couple of booths, that's all. Kind of felt like I was walking into a semi finish basement. The food was prepared quickly and was okay. I had the fried eggs, with beef sausage on the roll. I also have pancakes. The beef sausage was overcooked, so I really didn't enjoy it too much but the price is okay that made up for it. Overall I'll give him a try probably at lunch time at some point when I do decide whether to change my rating.

It's not a fancy place. Definitely could use updating. But for a basic neighborhood diner, I think they've stayed pretty consistent. I stick with their breakfast menu which is pretty good & moderately priced. Pretty decent lunch menu.

We went for brunch, and the servicer was the cashier and the person who answered the phone. Service was a little slow, but overall, it was not bad. Very friendly waiter but a bit overwhelmed.

There was paper in my food when I told the waiter about it he apologized then he brought me the check and did not even give me a discount charge me the full price for a meal that I halfway ate when I noticed it was paper underneath my melted American cheese so no I will not recommend going to the diner.

Resteraunt has a tendency to rush customers out. When there customer service waiter is found to be implementing thier undercover intent; the waiter gets upset and shakes his head.

The waiter was really good. The cook however sucked. My son ordered a sirloin steak with broccoli and a baked potato. I ordered a triple Decker sandwich with turkey and bacon, lettuce and tomatoes. The waiter brought over our food and the food was cold. I asked for butter for my son's baked potato and broccoli. When I placed the butter on potatoes and broccoli, the butter did not melt. That alone tells you how cold the food was. I had French fries with my sandwich. My fries were cold. I asked waiter to please make it hot, showed him the butter is not melted. My fries were cold. I watched the cook take his time to put in microwave. Ok, my sons food, microwave was fine. But my whole plate with sandwich? I don't think so. I get my plate returned to me. Now my lettece and tomatoes was soggy from the microwave. The Mayo tasted nasty. I just basically picked at the fries. My son seemed to enjoy his meal. I get check for $32.00. I felt so angry, not worth the $32.00. But, still paid and promised I will never return to the nasty restaurant again. 3 stars is way too much.

We enjoyed coming over here to eat but their prices are out of control for certain dishes. Almost 20 dollars for chilaquiles with chicken!! That's obsurd its made from tortillas that you pay 2 or maybe 3 dollars for a pack of over 20 corn tortillas. They need to revise their menus and prices because that's overpriced.

literally pains me to give 3 stars! Long story short I had ordered from here on grub hub. The food came so hot, delicious, and CLEAN that I had to see and eat in this place in person. Even took my wife and youngest daughter. People were amazing and the food? omfg..SO GOOD! So why the 3 stars overall and 1 star atmosphere? The building needs a serious upgrade!!! It was so that I found myself wishing I were rich just to buy the building and renovate it for them. Seems like they had, or even possibly still have, a leak of which you can see the choppy attempt to paint over the damages, and worse still, SMELL THE MOLD. Also, their furniture could do with a burning and replacing. Totally took away from the delicious steak, eggs, and welches grape (actually beer) that I ordered. Such a shame.

It was okay for the most part. My daughter liked the hash brown and oreo pancakes. My steak and eggs omelet need more eggs and a little less steak. The steak is way too chunky. The homemade lemonade is pretty good. I would go back, just won't have steak and eggs omelet.

This place is overpriced and the food taste bad. I have ordered from here before and the worse meal is always breakfast. There is no acquired taste. The pancakes taste plain. The omelettes are awful. However, I can say that their burgers are good. I paid $12.50 for an omelette and a side order of pancakes which tasted awful.

Not a great experience. Better off going a bit further down Williamsbridge Road to Liberty Diner. Prices are high all over now but for some stuff really over priced. $6 for a slice of cake?? You can go to Sal ND Doms up Allerton Ave and get pastries for less.

This is the only diner in this area where the food is good and the restaurant is clean (ONLY REASON I GAVE 2 STARS). The NEGATIVE is that everyone who works there has the nastiest ATTITUDE! Owner, the woman who answers the phone, even the delivery guy. The ladies at the counter don’t even look up because they are just rushing and looking to grab your cash/card. They all have a face like they’re bothered to be there. They only seem happy if they are speaking to other staff members. They really need a reality check and keep in mind that CUSTOMERS make the business. I was there was another DINER in the area.

I ordered take out and spent $76.00 for 3 small breakfast meals plus beverages they forgot the orange juice .. the delivery man didn't know how to work the code for the door. So he said.. I called. And they offered to send it back which they did but I would have liked to drink my orange juice with my meal. . I'm not cheap at all but $76.00 I thought the delivery service would've been better and for the tip I gave him he could've walked up a couple of stairs. Unhappy but Noone was rude. I'll cook my pancakes and French toast at home from now on though! Ld from the Bronx Happy holidays to all!

The waiter was okay but the order was asked if we can substitute one meat for another one the hungry man. Get our order with the meat we didn't want and was told can't substitute. Then found plastic in my eggs, they didn't check on us to ask how our food was. They didn't offer to give a percentage of the meal. Large portion of mediocre food, won't be back

First off the pepper shaker had so much build up it was gross, my chicken ceasar wrap was oily and had no ceasar dressing, the cheeseburger I ordered was burnt and the whole restaurant became smoky and the burnt smell was terrible no doors were opened no one apologized. And I asked for milk for my coffee and received weird tasting creamer. Never again. 🤨

Horrible experience, ordered breakfast and the food was terrible. The bacon was old and not edible to eat. It was brown and just not good at all, the croissant was stale the cheese was not melted and their excuse for it was because I asked for crispy bacon. The person in charge on the floor was very rude and nonchalant about it and giving excuses and not taking ownership of the situation. Definitely would not recommend this place to anyone AT ALL !!!!

After waiting for the food for an hour and a half, our order was incomplete, but the restaurant charged us for an order that we did not receive. When we called the restaurant, I asked for price of the order we received to confirm pricing inconsistency. Once confirmed, I told them our order was incomplete, but we paid delivery guy for the FULL price of the original order and asked if they could please send the missing item we paid for or send back the money we were charged for the missing item. She said all they could do for us was give us a “credit for next time.” I told her there wouldn’t be a next time since this isn’t the first time they screw up our order and that we needed either the food or money back today. She refused to help over the phone and we were forced to go in person to handle the situation. Food we did receive was cold. Horrible service. Will never go again. Find another diner. This place is a rip off for bad quality food. Don’t waste your money.

Ordered delivery from just a few blocks away. It took very long for the food to arrive. I ordered chicken and waffles. The chicken had zero taste the waffle had zero flavor. The ketchup packets, maple syrup and butter packets gave the dish ANY flavor at all. I also ordered buffalo chicken. The wings had zero flavor. The blue cheese dressing is, once again, what added any flavor at all. Lastly I ordered a slice of chocolate cake. Hear me and hear me well.........THE OUTSIDE SURFACE OF THE SLICE WHERE THE KNIFE CUT SMELLED AND TASTED STRONGLY OF CHEMICALS, more specifically nail polish remover. Expensive, not worth the wait. In fact if you are hungry right now, at this very moment in time, and are considering Allerton diner; your money would be better spent buying some condiments at a local deli or supermarket and an ordinary entenmanns cake and save your self the expense, aggravation and potential food poisoning.

Ordered on Grub Hub. The order had to be cancelled because they were busy and were not courteous enough to tell us that they were too busy to make and deliver our order. Over the course of a few hours, they kept us believing that it was being made and / or on the way. In the end, they had never even started. Very disappointed! I use to like this place a lot, but this was not respectful of us as customers.

Food is average at best. Service is horrible, especially delivery. The gentleman who takes the order by phone is often rude and will just hang up if he doesn"t like what you are saying. The place has not been the same since the original owner left. The current owner needs to re-evaluate his staff and their attitudes. Will never use again.

Order home fries to go. Got them quick. But the potatoes were mushy and brown. Called to let them know. Cashier verified that they were cooked with onions and peppers and told me that she refunded my $$ & hung up quick. The worse place to go to. Not friendly nor helpful! I’m 8 months pregnant and went there to get something to eat. Now I’m stuck looking for something else

Ordered from here through Uber eats. They included a post it note saying “ Customer did not request condiment or utensil.” They don’t give the option for you to request that, however I did request coleslaw and a pickle and I only got the coleslaw, no pickle. What’s the use of requesting or not requesting things if the restaurant doesn’t care about providing that, besides condiments and utensil come pretty standard when ordering food. I ordered a sandwich, I can’t imagine ordering something that requires utensils and not getting any. Food was mid as well. Never ordering from here again. Beware before ordering

Today I went to get chicken tenders and fries. The food is good but they have decided to give me a used BQQ sauce and to top it off it smelled like it was expired too. I call them to tell them but no one could understand me and the guy was stuttering the whole time. Never going to order from them again.
