Avis sur Aita Brooklyn
My fiancé and I were able to hit up Aita to celebrate our upcoming wedding. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy, especially with the weather cooling down outside. The decor, music, service and general vibe were all inviting and enjoyable. What stood out the most from the meal itself was the quality of the ingredients and the different flavors that we haven’t tried from Italian cuisine before. We’ll absolutely be back again!
The night we strolled into this place, it was 1° windchill weather. We had a reservation for outside gazebo and after sitting for 2 minutes it was clear that it will be a very cold dinner. The staff was very accommodating and understanding. They lead us to a bar next door- The Mayflower. And a promise to get us a better table in about an hour. The Mayflower was an incredible bar. No menus. No eats. Just a cocktail bar where the bartender chats you up and makes you a cocktail per your palette. Our party had more of neat scotch drinkers and the barkeep let me taste a top shelf scotch before getting it. It was a very smooth experience. Now for Aita! I didn’t know walking in on how the food would be, none of us has been there before and the first response on the google search had left me amused and curious. We ordered 3 appetizers for the table. Wagyu carpaccio. Roasted fall vegetables. Crocchette di baccala. Roasted veggies were amazing, and some of us went for second helpings. Wagyu Carpaccio was beautifully crafted with pomegranate acting as the perfect bridge between the Wagyu and the veggies. If raw red meat makes you queasy, maybe this isn’t the option for you but for all the carnivore out there, try this out! But the show stopper was the Crocchette di baccala. We all took one and then fought for the last one by butchering it on the plate. The sauce on the side was perfectly crafted to go with a white fish crocchette. Perfect appetizer to get us up for the main course. We all decide to get a plate for ourselves instead of doing family style since the portions were large. So, we went with Beef wellington & Oxtail burger. About the main course. Imagine cooking your beef to a perfect tenderness that it doesn’t fall apart on the plate but the moment it touches your tongue- you barely have to chew. It was pan seared with layers on bacon on top and bottom giving it a perfect finish of crispness. My girlfriend and I were fighting till our last bite. Oxtail burger was all right too. I’m sure if you got it by itself it would shine. But in our opinion, it’s like comparing the light from the Sun and the moon. However, ask for the aioli sauce with your fries. You will not be disappointed. We both couldn’t get enough. On a side note, I would highly recommend the Oxtail Ravioli, one of our friends got it and it looks delicious! We are definitely going back to try that and any of their 15 options. We went with the servers recommendation of a Chianti - 2015 Piemaggio Chianti Classico Riserva to wash it all down and it was a perfect pairing. PS. If you’re still wondering what the name means, Google the name. We still don’t know what it means but let me know if you find out. I’ll just say the staff were anything but that!
Great experience last night. Food and service top notch. Great fresh pasta loved the oxtail ravioli. We had to leave early because we got so full but I enjoyed the rest of the food this morning. Highly reccomend and will return
Aita is exactly what you want in a neighborhood Italian restaurant. The food is incredible, the service is top notch and the atmosphere is intimate and beautiful. They have bar seating and table seating. We used to order the oxtail ravioli for delivery and finally came to the actual restaurant- so worth it!! The bread basket with olives was so good- a super chewy and yummy sourdough with a light and fluffy seasoned focaccia. The burrata had tons of amazing flavors all combining to be such a delicious bite. The oxtail ravioli was perfection as always: it literally melts in your mouth (get the fresh parmesan shredded on it table side, it really takes it up a notch!). The tiramisu was classic and lovely with a great cup of espresso to end the evening. We couldn’t have had better service and we can’t wait to come back!
Went for a brunch with a group. Tbh, I normally find brunch to be a waste, but Id go back to Aita without hesitation. Enjoyed the salmon hash and pancakes, as well as their spritz and vermut offerings. Hoping to return for happy hour soon.
Loved this restaurant. We sat outside and it was very pleasant. They have an Apperitivo hour. With the Cocktails you get some small bites. We got Croquetas, Olives and small Bruschetta. We ordered their Beet salad which was good and Oxtail Ravioli which was delicious. The Cocktails are tasty. The service is wonderful. Prices are reasonable for the quality and the area. Inside it's small but cozy. At the same location they have a Cocktail Bar called Mayflower, which we intend to check out next time we go.
Cute and cozy spot that’s great as a date night or small group of friends. Sad to have heard that their sister restaurant in Crown Heights closed, but food, ambiance, and service (shoutout to Lydia!) here was excellent. The beets, tomato, and octopus were great starters. The oxtail burger was a generous size and likened by even non meat eaters. Lobster pasta was a highlight, as was the occhi.
It was for brunch that we returned for our third visit to Aita in Clinton Hill. Previous brunch and dinner experiences were five stars and this one did not disappoint either. We sat outside and I want to mention that they have one of the better outside dining setups. It's well enclosed, warm, and reasonably separated from fellow guests. As it was brunch, we kicked things off with cocktails. The brunch cocktail menu is kinda brief but I'm sure they'll make you whatever you want. We got the Fresh Photos and Bomb Lighting and the Woke Up Like This. The first was kind of a riff on a Dark & Stormy with Cynar and Amaro subbing for the rum and the second was similar to an Aperol spritz w/o the soda, so kinda boozy and bitter. Both were quite enjoyable. We tried the Bomboloni to start, they were delicious. Rich but not too rich, if you know what I mean. A real treat. I chose the Vanilla French Toast for my entree, others chose the Crab Cake Benedict and the Porchetta Sandwich. The toast and benne's were very good but I think we were all jealous of the porchetta. It looked amazing and our friend loved it. The accompanying fries were also quite good. Lastly, our waitress was perfect, attentive and friendly. Can def recommend and will be back for more return visits.
July 25, 2020: Had a fantastic social-distanced dinner here! The tables were plenty far apart (it felt like a private dinner beside the string lights) and the food was delicious as usual. It was also great that the tables were on the sidewalk, instead out out in the street like at other places across the city. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a meal out and want to stay as safe as possible. February 11, 2020: LOVE it here!! The food is always fantastic — they even made an eggplant dish that I liked! More recently, I had fried artichokes with burrata, Brussels sprouts, and saffron gnocchi. We were also surprised with complementary butternut squash and bread to start off the meal which was super tasty. They rotate the menu pretty regularly, too, but seem to have some usual things that always make the cut.
Fantastic meal - service could have been better. We arrived early for our reservation and were told the table wasn’t ready yet (totally understandable, we sat at the bar) but had to wait 10 minutes past our reservation time with no explanation. The staff didn’t check in with us at all during that time and barely checked in with us during the meal.
A cute corner location that is always busy. Good food, slow yet friendly service and tight spaces. Reasonably priced. Recommend making a reservation ahead of time.
A very unpleasant experience. We ordered a glass of wine and within 5 minutes the waitress returned to take our order. When we said we weren’t quite ready she didn’t leave to return later but instead stood by the table pressuring us to finish browsing the menu ; it was very off putting. When we said we’d be a minute & would let her know, she informed us that the restaurant has a 90 minute seating limit, as they are very busy. Throughout our meal she was curt and rude. Then before we had even finished our dishes she returned to offer us our check. She entirely ruined our dinner. Hopefully it was just this one waitress who was unbearable and not a trend with the entire staff! I ordered the oxtail ravioli, which was delicious. So that was good. My friend was disappointed with her dish, so she was overall unhappy. I don’t enjoy having to down my wine and rush through my meal, so I am not inspired to return.
Unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant. The food was very mediocre and overpriced. Some pasta dishes had no flavor and others were simply not as described. oxtail ravioli that was supposed to come in brown butter sauce came in a soupy red sauce- not sure why they would mislabel? Additionally, the server was either unwilling or unable to answer simple questions about whether an ingredient was fresh or jarred- did not offer to check either. Lastly, drinks that were ordered did not arrive until our entrees were served (a simple glass of wine) and the olives that were supposed to come with the bread were not served together and we had to ask about them. Maybe it was a bad night but I won’t be back. Onto the next!
We had good service and it’s a cute enough space, but the food isn’t that great, especially for the price and quality of similar items restaurants nearby. The brunch menu is limited and uninteresting. A beans and sausage dish was especially weak. Wouldn’t recommend.
Every dish was so disappointing and mediocre. But what made this a 1 star was the oxtail ravioli that’s described as being made with a brown butter sauce. It tasted and looked like a tomato based chef boyardee! We’ve both had several brown butter dishes before and this is not it. What made this so frustrating was the waitress with good intention gaslighting us that it was brown butter, when it definitely was not. Won’t be back.
