Avis sur Brown Butter Brooklyn
Thee best biscuit breakfast sandwich I have ever had in New York. Period! On top of that this place is charming and chill, appropriately priced and sweet. Always sprinkled with the nicest people a neighborhood could possibly deliver and the staff is always beyond fantastic. Oh god those biscuits are to die for.
They serve food that meets a higher standard. The food quality is consistent across the menu with fair pricing. Restaurant workers provide acceptable attention. Their flavor pairings show culinary creativity. Absolute marks.
The name originates from it's restaurant Brown Butter and they defined the food of Brooklyn Bed Stuy culture on a plate! Happily I expected the service, taste and quality to be the best --believe me, it was! The ice cream is creamy, flavors are strong in taste, the themes are on trend, and the choices are endless. My favorite so far has to be the brown sugar cinnamon, white chocolate rose, mango sorbet, pistachio, berry, smurfs, strawberry cream, chocolate, peaches and cream. And the hook is I will be inviting my celebrity friends!
This is the place I always bring out-of-towners because everyone really must experience the biscuits. I’d never dined in here before but recently I did with some friends and it was a lovely experience. It had rained earlier but the weather was nice again and we wanted to sit outside — a couple of us have chronic illnesses and prefer to be more covid-safe by eating outdoors. We asked for some paper towels to wipe down the seats, expecting to wipe them down ourselves since this isn’t a table service type of place. The worker who helped us went above and beyond wiping the seats down. She absolutely did not have to do that and more than earned her 30% tip. The backyard is lovely, I’m so glad I decided to dine in.
The crab cake biscuit sandwich was absolutely delectable — well worth the extra wait since it’s made to order. The biscuit had the perfect texture with pillowed layers that held everything together beautifully. And those roasted potatoes with the sweet potatoes mixed in? Baybe… a party in your mouth you didn’t even know you needed. My only regret? Not grabbing a plain biscuit on the side to enjoy with some butter and fresh preserves. I’ll definitely be back for that!
Great cafe full of wonderful staff! Went here and had the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese biscuit with some hot honey and it tasted just like what I used to get in the south. There is plenty of room inside the cafe for a group of friends to join me plus all the space outside in the back. The staff was wonderful and answered all my questions… even found out they have mimosas for real cheap! I’m definitely gonna come back. Brown Butter is yet another great establishment along Tompkins Ave that draws in many from the surrounding neighborhood as well as visitors from all over!
I come here once a week for their biscuit sandwiches and they’re always on point. Consistently super flavorful and made fresh. It’s a pretty no frills cafe, but they have plenty of seating, including a backyard patio. Expect a line and expect a bit of a wait, especially if you’re also ordering coffee. My go-to is the sausage biscuit, but I recently tried the chicken sandwich and WOW. So much flavor! I’ve ordered the crab biscuit before but it’s too pricey to make it a habit. I recommend only ordering one sandwich; it doesn’t seem like it will be filling but it is! Only order 2 sandwiches if you’re super hungry and don’t have plans to eat again until dinner.
Embarking on a Sunday morning culinary escapade at Brown Butter Kitchen in BedStuy, the brunch haven specializing in homemade biscuits, offered a blend of delights and minor nuances. The layout, though not optimal, didn't deter the gastronomic journey. However, a lack of friendly greetings upon entering left room for improvement in the staff's hospitality. The star of the show, the homemade biscuits, proved their mettle in a chicken sandwich adorned with a fried egg and bacon. (The egg could have been a little “yolkier”) Wrapped meticulously in foil and served on a metal tray, these sandwiches defied expectations, filling stomachs with delightful surprises. The culinary prowess extended to the roasted potatoes, a medley of flavors featuring both regular and sweet potatoes. Despite minor hiccups, with two out of four orders missing ingredients, the overall food quality shone through. A brunch feast of 4 sandwiches and 2 sides vanished into satisfied stomachs within a mere 15 minutes. The reasonable pricing added to the positive equation, making it a value-laden experience. Observing the bustling activity as we departed, the packed restaurant hinted at a potential need for additional seating. While the overall experience merited a commendable 4 out of 5 stars, the friendly staff and a tweak in layout could elevate Brown Butter Kitchen to a brunch haven of unparalleled excellence.
The kindness of the staff and the atmosphere was so welcoming. I felt at home. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with potatoes and matcha lemonade. I really enjoyed my food. The biscuit was soft and buttery and the chicken sausage was an unexpected surprise but flavorful. I was not aware of the no working policy which threw a wrench in my plans. I like that they have a strong stance on that to keep the traffic in the cafe moving and to prevent distracting work calls etc. but I just wish I knew before training across town to visit for breakfast and knock out a few emails etc. 4.7/5
Brown butter has one of the best homemade biscuits! I had the breakfast sandwich with bacon. I would like to come back and try the chicken biscuits and gravy. Unfortunately, you aren’t allowed to work while you eat at Brown Butter. That was my original plan, but at least got a delicious sandwich out of it.
Ive only ordered through doordash twice - first time i got the avocado toast which i loved no complaints. Today i got the bacon and egg biscuit which is odd to me that they dont include cheese in it and have an option of no cheese for those who dont want it….. biscuit was good though - But what really got me is i payed $7 for an iced cappuccino with brown butter syrup that 1. They charge you to make it a cappuccino and 2. The large cup was half full ….. if i ordered an iced coffee for $7 why is the cup half full? It also tasted not good at all - my dunkin tastes better than this. I expected so much more ….. (i took one sip to try before i attached the picture posted but im not exaggerating on the cup half full) . In total i spent $21 - not worth it.
I don’t take the time to write bad reviews often but this was the worse avocado toast I’ve ever had. Between the texture of the biscuit toast, the jam, avocado and sauce on top, it’s entirely too many things going on. I tried to add everything bagel seasoning on top to spice it up myself. I would make a suggestion to add some chili crunch oil to counter the sweetness or a crunchy vegetable to balance the mush. Absolutely gross!
The food was… an experience. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese on a biscuit and somehow ended up with just a biscuit and an egg. No cheese. No bacon. I don’t know if they thought the “and cheese” was optional or if the bacon took the day off, but it never made it to my plate. I also ordered roasted potatoes, and the description said nothing about sweet potatoes being mixed in. Surprise! There they were. What if I was allergic? That would have been the worst plot twist of the day. The only part of the meal that actually made me happy was the banana walnut slice. That was the star of the show. The biscuit itself was decent, but the egg… well, it was just an egg, and not the one I asked for. Overall, 2 out of 5 stars. Follow the directions, Brown Butter. This is breakfast, not a mystery box challenge.
Spent 60$ as the first customer and all of my boyfriends food was raw I don’t remember the exact order but I do know he said the potatoes on one thing were undercooked & the middle of his chicken on another item was completely raw in the middle. I walked in and said good morning to the only 2 workers in sight in a male barista and a female with locs who was moving around. The Male greeted me & my boyfriend, very friendly. The female had a very unhappy look the entire 30 mins or so we sat & waited for our food also didn’t greet us. When we came back with our food the same female was there and a Hispanic female also , no apologies given… just took the uncooked food back and gave a refund. Wanted to try for some time. Never again. Highly disappointed.
Very inattentive to black people when they come in. Rude and passive when requesting changes or services. No one responds when you speak they just roll their eyes and move around you. I wouldn’t spend my money here again. This place is not for the community. It’s for the gentrification community.
I want to like this place the food is genuinely good but the service is unbelievably slow and disorganized. I ordered ahead on DoorDash for pickup, expecting an in and out experience. Instead, I waited 40 minutes for a simple bacon and egg sandwich and a hot latte. It wasn’t even busy when I arrived. One staff member told me it’d be “five minutes.” Ten minutes later, I asked again, and still nothing. Meanwhile, I could hear the kitchen bell ringing multiple times because orders were ready yet the staff seemed completely disengaged. When someone finally brought out a bunch of food, I stood right in front of the girl I had just spoken to and she didn’t even bother checking if one was mine. No acknowledgment, no urgency, nothing. I had to ask again about my order, only to be told it wasn’t ready. Five minutes later, she hands it to me my “hot” coffee already bagged and wrapped in plastic, sitting there getting cold. No one offered to bring me my drink while I waited. No one checked the order queue. The kitchen staff clearly knows what they’re doing, but the front-of-house team seems lost. It honestly felt like a bunch of kids with no management or direction. This isn’t the first time I’ve had this issue here, even when ordering ahead. It’s a slow,, and completely unbothered service. Expect to spend at least an hour waiting for food, even for the simplest order. The food deserves five stars, but the staff drags the entire experience down to one.
