went for a small dinner during a somewhat busy Friday night. the mofongo was delicious!
If you're craving authentic Dominican food that tastes like home, this is the spot! From perfectly seasoned pernil to mouthwatering mangu and crispy tostones, every bite is packed with flavor and love. The staff is warm, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere makes you feel like family. Don’t miss the passion fruit juice—it's a must! Support local and treat yourself—you’ll be coming back for more!
We quickly came in for a late takeout on Sunday evening. Took pork with potato and rice, it's little to say that the pork was majestic. And btw 2 meals (pork/rice and pork/potato) only 25 dollars. Recommend.
Really cute restaurant. Very friendly staff. Tasty food and great portions. If you're not familiar with the food choices, ASK!! They don't mind. You will enjoy the experience.
La Familia is amazing! Authentic Dominican food in Sunset Park! What a gem! I can't recommend them enough. Their food is delicious and incredibly affordable, and quick! Their customer service is also pretty good. Give them a try!
Located in the between the areas of Greenwood Heights and Sunset Park in Brooklyn is La Familia wonderful restaurant. The restaurant staff are amazing, they were very helpful, and understanding. The food is amazing especially the rice, beans and chicken which was cooked and prepared fresh. They are new to the TooGoodtoGo app and they provided three big plates of food. I recommend this restaurant for wonderful experience and to try amazing food. Check them out on the TooGoodtoGo app which is available on the Play Store and App store.
I randomly stumbled upon this restaurant when I had a small emergency and needed to charge a phone. They were kind enough to let me charge my phone, and then I ordered food. I was soooo impressed by the quality of the food! It was cooked perfectly! It wasn't greasy like I've experienced before with similar food. It had good flavor, and fresh garnish. If I lived in the area I would go hear all the time!! Highly recommend.
Just had dinner there, the food was GREAT. I enjoyed the good Bachata playing in the background. However, my margarita was weak. Who cares... the food was GREAT!!! Next time I'll order my food with a Corona. LoL our server did forget a couple of things (not a big deal) but she was very sweet, attentive and very fast.
Oh man, came here before going to a local bowling spot and I am STUFFED. The portions are more than generous and the food itself is fresh and deliciously packed with flavor. If you're a lover of traditional Dominican or Spanish cuisine in general, this is a great place to go. There are a few booths in the front and larger tables in the back, so whether you're going on a date or hanging with a group, there's perfect seating. And if you want to come alone there's 3 big flat screen TV's, a bar, and wonderful music over the speakers, so you're sure to be entertained.
Just had a Dominican breakfast with coffee and it tasted very close to what I had in DR. The mangú was velvety soft, the fry eggs were close to over easy and the salami was very tasty. Even though the items were already prepared, they tasted like they were just made. I would have prefer the eggs a little less cooked but they were fine with the right amount of salt. Definitely will return to try other dishes.
I just walked in this resteraunt for the 1st time with my kids and it looked descent and prices also. The food was good,(Ive had better),but for some reason they didnt show the prices on certain entrees,so we said to hell with it,lets order. $60 on total when the other day I paid less at another resteraunt, same food and got more serving. Sorry La Familia, you are not the one I would refer any one to. Never again
Place is a dive super tacky super run down costumers buy food sitting up under a light, But who knows maybe it's good. But the staff are very nice and the empanadads are super good freshly made with a lot of meat and good flavor. I'm willing to go back and get a real meal I have a feeling the food is good. And we had tequila shots.
I would’ve given this restaurant a 5-star rating but I just can’t. The customer service was alright. The food I received was amazing but I found hair in my food. Really unsanitary and made me throw out the rest of the food! The portion sizing was not as great as the other Spanish restaurants I’ve been to. Also they serve the food without gloves and the servers don’t even wear hair nets to wrap their hair up. Is this a restaurant or fashion show? Place is cool though.
Not worth going back to ever. Most of the food on the menu they did not have available. The food was served cold, rice was undercooked and beans were salty.
Food was okay not even decent. My food came cold after a long wait. Our waiter was very nice and tried her best to meet our needs.
I ordered chicharron de pollo sin hueso with yellow rice and black beans. They gave me the wrong order, which was chicharron de pollo con hueso with yellow rice and red beans. THE MEAT WAS NOT COOKED WELL. It was really soft, slimy and unseasoned. The tasted like there wasn’t even a grain of salt. My overall experience was horrible. I couldn’t even eat the food…
I almost never do this, but this was asked for, last week I had the pleasure of going to this restaurant, while on my usual hour break, I’ve been having a craving for empanadas for a while , I ordered 2 chicken empanadas. for some reason it was taking forever to come out about 25 to 30 minutes to be exact no exaggeration. I finally get my order. Get to my car and decide to eat and drive on my way to the next hospital (I’m a emergency First responder for all the hospitals in the city of New York). As I bite into the empanadas I noticed something is very wrong this isn’t what I ordered. And I can’t make my way back to the restaurant because of my schedule. I immediately call them back and tell them they’ve made a mistake with my order. But I won’t be able to come back tonight. Waitress says ok. Now moving into today 3 days later I call back and ask them if they can have the order ready so I can pick’em up. And the waitress tells me No it’s been a whole week. I’m just dumbfounded. I ask to speak to a manager or her boss she proceeded to tell me that she was both. I said ok. I will never again spend money here again and tell everyone I know that lives in the area. How great your customer service is. I hope a lot of people see this and take there money elsewhere it isn’t right to treat people how you want. You should always treat your customers the same no matter what the ethnicity.
