Avis sur La Isla Cuchifritos Brooklyn
I love it here. I been coming hear a long time. I came here recently late Saturday night ordered Rice beans Rotisserie chicken With an alcapurria and empanadas. All of it was perfect so perfect I ordered a chicken soup to go because if i didn’t I would’ve regretted it. The price is fair. Easily one of my favorites!
The lady that works there service has the greatest way of dealing with customers everyone comes tired . Exhausted and rough and she molds in a way to appease and make everyone comfortable and feel like home bless her
Been going here most of my life!! Always great food (cheap eats) great staff
The restaurant knows how to create memorable experiences. Not one dish failed to impress our group. The workers were exceptionally welcoming and assisted readily. Every dish shows attention to excellence. I intend to dine at this restaurant again.
If your going for just quick eats. Food is great! Without a doubt. You'll be greeted by the doorman known to me as Doorman Bonbon. (Say it with a Spanish accent 🤣) Again, food is great, not too much parking, homeless galore. Enjoy.
I've been going to this place ever since I was a little kid I'm so glad they still there the food is always good and always seem fresh I hope they never move from that location
I have been going to this place for some years now. They have good food and juices. My favorite juice is the lemonade. My brother prefers coconut juice. They are usually open late so even on those nights out and you want something for the Hangover lol this is your place.
Had actually been happy to see it was open after a event I attended ending after 12 am & Cuchifritos was open. Lol even greater than it open as late as it had but it isn't MEye first rodeo at Chuchifritos find dining cause Eye'd eaten from their plenty of times as a kid with my older sister, now being 37, lol. Let me tell u about the recipes that doesnt change & the food they cook with love. Cuchifritos is still the spot tf on with delicious meals even if it's hard to translate what it is you want from of the menu cause the workers don't speak English. Lol so if you don't speak Spanish & don't carry a translator then you would have to rely on the customers, Lol most of them regulars 2 help you to Succesfully place a order. But once u do, when u get the food it's absolutely amazing definitely an experience to what heritage & cultural filled flavors taste like brought 2 Brooklyn NYC!
If you're by Woodhull Hospital it is one of the best places to get some good Hispanic food at very affordable prices. The place itself is not much, very small. They do have some sitting by the counter. Service can be slow. Try their Pig Feet Soup it is delicious 😋 , just make sure they don't put big pieces of potato or yucca that'll take most of the plate. The Yucca or potato balls are delicious. Penil, Fried chicken is okay. Not a fan of their Empanadas. NP : THIS PLACE IS CASH ONLY!!!
really clean restaurant with no frills just lets the food talk. the empanada was low key gross honestly it was mad oily and the meat was tasty but also absorbed the oil. but the fried yuca ball made up for it. perfectly crispy on the outside with nice seasoned beef in the middle. will def be returning in the morning for fresher stuff and im sure it'll all taste better
We drove here from Long Island to eat alcapurrias and morcillas. The alcapurrias was ok. The relleno de papa was not good hardly no meat. The morcillas were cold. The place is not the cleanest. I will not return. Most of the cuchifrito are now owned by Dominicans. And no offense to the Dominican cooks, however no one makes these Puerto rican staples better than a boricua.
WARNING WARNING Do not eat at this restaurant PLEASE If you value yourself it’s not right I don’t understand how this place is still open They must be paying off the health inspector because this place is roach infested it’s so bad that they had to call exterminator mid day and the exterminator didn’t want no parts of they problem The customer service is horrible they talk about people in Spanish not knowing I comprehend it’s just a mess in this place And don’t accidentally walk in the back You will see why it’s so much roaches you will never look back just run out of this place I will never recommend friends or family To this hazard zone Caution signs she be place where they B rating is instead
Alcapurrias were bland and barely had any meat and relleno de papa was just as terrible, next time I have a hankering for these I’m going to Spanish Harlem
They will try to charge you a different price every time you go there. They just make up prices. Always ask for the price up front if not they will overcharge you purposely . And make sure to check your change because they will give your INCORRECT change back shorting you.
This place has roaches. Not Waterbugs, but ROACHES! A roach quickly ran on top of the counter from the floor and then scurried in down between where the register is and disappeared. When I told the gentlemen about what I saw, he chuckled nervously and took the next person in line. DO NOT EAT HERE! They also had a PENDING GRADE on their door for weeks! That alone should tell you something smh. Such a pity because I really wanted to try them due to me working nearby smh.
I’ve heard wonders of the Cuchifritos from 116th st so I wanted to try it for the longest time. I was feeling home sick, so why not? If you value your life, don’t even bother. My partner and I got the worst food poisoning of our lives. MIND YOU, I was born and raised in PR, so I’ve eaten Puerto Rican food all my life including Guavate in Cayey. I’ve eaten PR food before in Harlem and East Village. So, this is not about my stomach not being able to handle it, it’s about how they handle their food. This is the worst experience I’ve had with any restaurant in the whole tri-state area. I regret it with all my heart. I should’ve listen to the biggest red flag, that being that their Sanitation rating was still PENDING at the time of my visit. First of all, they’re not welcoming at all, it feels like you’re being judged the second you walk in. When I was seated, there is a SINK right under their counter where you eat, so the water just splashes onto your surroundings. The look of the kitchen was disgusting. There was barely any lighting and all the pots and pans looked nasty. The kitchen was dirty from top to bottom. It seemed as if they don’t truly even change the oil accordingly or barely scrub the kitchen top. Yeah, know some places have their charm despite their appearance, but unfortunately this place is NOT IT. Out of all the food they offer, the only thing that was worth it was their passion fruit juice. The rice tasted old, and the pernil tasted like it was left out for the longest time. The alcapurria was just a ball of grease and it didn’t looked 100% cooked. The mofongo with pernil we took home had a horrible stench and it stunk up out fridge and house. Never in my entire life will I be back to such place like this. I’m so sick I can’t barely hold even water down. I’ve thrown up all the food and more. It’s been more than 12 hours, I’m on my way to the hospital right now.
