Nice fun spot. Kareoke after 8:30.
Montero Bar and Grill is a hidden gem In Elizabeth City N.C. Chef Andy who is also the owner and his wife are amazing. Such a great team. His staff is 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The speed of the group is determined by the speed of the leader. I can tell his staff enjoys working for him. His team gave us the same care and energy that Chef Andy gave us. Our experience was so amazing, that e went back the next day for dinner and we brought more people. Next time I’m in Elizabeth City, I will definitely go there for dinner. Also, the drinks are amazing🍷🥃 Chef Andy, thank you for a memorable experience.
Don’t judge a book by its cover! We walked in to an empty bar and asked if they served food. Pepe told us no, but recommended Table 87 up the street. We brought back the pizza and had a great time watching the Euro championship game. Pepe was extremely friendly and welcoming, despite us cheering for different teams. All the beers are $7 and Pepe also provided free popcorn to everyone in the bar. This was a great Brooklyn experience!
Cash only, every beer is $7, great selection. I went on karaoke night and for probably the first time ever, every person who went up to sing did a great job. Pool is only $1 and they have quarters at the bar. Will stop back here if I'm in the area again.
Great bar with a jukebox and an amazing bartender. Kaddy is the best!!! Matt is a man with tons of information and is always willing to talk. Karaoke on Wednesdays and cheap beers all the time. Bring your own food as they don't have a grill but who cares, you're amongst great company!
Original, old-school Brooklyn bar. Hip before hipsters were hip. Don't bother asking what's on tap because they don't have them. Bottles of beer with no nonsense, but the owner and bar staff are welcoming and chatty with anyone. They make you feel like a local within minutes. Don't assume the 'bar and grill' on the signage means anything more than just 'bar'.
I don't think this place serves food anymore. I am always in for a good cash bar that is run by a family. The family is at the bar, and they want you to enjoy yourself. The drinks are reasonably priced in a part of Brooklyn that seems to be going upscale quickly.
Montero's is a fun bar which is wild because it hosts karaoke 2 or 3 times a week. I love the vibe here, but when it gets crowded unfortunately it's hard to get a drink because how packed the bar gets. Really great time tho and fun vibes.
TLDR; overpriced drinks We live in the neighborhood and have been curious about this bar for a while. We should have stayed curious. We were in a Negroni kick so decided to grab 2 Negronis, which were served in plastic cups and they were decent. What we were very shocked by was that they were $16 each. $16 for a plastic cup Negroni in a cash only dive bar?! Not for me. I’ll just go across the street to Elsa
Me and my roommate were having a great time until the clearly drunk bartender kicked us out because we jokeingly said on the mic during karaoke “buy us a drink if we sound good” she pulled us aside calling us disrespectful and unclassy. She made the situation a huge scene when it didn’t have to be. I thought it was unprovoked for a drunk bartender to be pulling me aside. I paid for everything and was a frequent customer but I will unfortunately not be returning.
Montero’s used to be my favorite bars. I’ve spent thousands of dollars here over the years—on drinks, pool, and karaoke. Nighttime vibes were always solid. But it’s changed. The Saturday afternoon bartender is regularly late, and I was recently charged $7 for a seltzer water on a $30 tab. When I didn’t tip enough—on overpriced water and bad service—I was called out for it. If this is how they treat regulars during slow hours, I’m out. Disappointing to see a favorite spot go downhill because of alienating service. I didn’t end up shooting pool, chugged my beers and water to leave as soon as possible and enjoy my time ANYWHERE ELSE
I have been here several times. During Covid was better. But the old lady short bartender hates everyone and the lady running karaoke yelled at us for putting two names. A duet. And for putting a very popular song she “didn’t have”. Bad vibes at this place. Another bartender clearly tweaking as well. Used to be good but old grumps and annoying Broadway show kids singing now. Nope
This space is not meant for people of color! My friends and I had to learn the hard way, as we were accused of stealing “karaoke forms”… the only way to receive karaoke forms is by buying drinks; we had bought 3 shots. The owner of the bar stated after accusing us of stealing said forms: “I own this place I can do what I want, if you don’t like it then get out” she wanted us out way prior to the accusation and it is so sad that blatant racism like this is still happening !!!! Seriously, why would we go behind a bar to steal small green pieces of paper, to then place our names on it and sing on a mic… it’s laughable! The real issue was the color of our skin ! We spent money there and we’re basically told to leave and we couldn’t even enjoy our night! Please if you are a person of color, DO NOT go here!
