Avis sur Oita Brooklyn
They have a beautiful minimalist decor, and the place is quite spacious. The sushi is always very fresh. Even the fried dishes, like shrimp tempura and agedashi tofu, are perfectly prepared, crispy and light
Oita is the BEST sushi I’ve ever had! Not only is the service great, but the food is even better. Such a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel welcomed. You’re missing out if you’ve never had Oita!!
Wonderful sushi and great happy hour options in an art gallery aesthetic. The space is quite late for the number of tables they have, and a bit quiet, but we went early. The menu has range - from straightforward rolls to omakase - and the Fire and New York Crunch rolls are particularly unique. Excited to find a new terrific sushi spot in the neighborhood and to be pleasantly surprised with excellent sushi at a good value. Haven’t tried the takeout yet.
The most amazing dinner and a super awesome team and staff! Could not recommend more
A great sushi restaurant. We loved the spicy tuna with crispy rice as well as the signature roll set. We had sashimi as well and it was very fresh. Attentive, friendly service.
We went here for my wife's birthday lunch and it was impressive. Firstly, it's hard to find restaurants that are stroller friendly in the city, but this place might be the most stroller friendly one in Park Slope. The tables were far apart and could easily accommodate our Vista stroller which isn't a small stroller. The spicy tuna on crispy rice was as good as I remember but the real standout was their lunch special. Unbelievable value of 10 exceptional pieces with the Toro and Salmon with dill sauce being my favorites. The staff here are so nice as always. I look forward to coming back here.
The fish is so fresh, the staff is so kind, the atmosphere is quiet but enjoyable - the perfect neighborhood spot!
My wife and I have eaten delivery and in-restaurant several times now. I don’t think any place beats it for quality. They clearly take lots of care even when it’s just delivery. In-restaurant, the service and food together are also excellent. We had a birthday party there and they stayed open almost an extra hour for us. They accommodated us by taking our outside cake earlier in the day and keeping it cold for us. Couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome.
Their signature rolls were great value for flavor and quality. The staff were adorably kind. The sushi was really delicious, it made me smile. The restaurant is all beautifully lit with a flowing walking space, you can tell the place has good energy :-)
I had a special gathering with my international friends I haven't seen in awhile and made a quick decision to order sushi catering. We googled and found Oita Sushi because of it's good reviews. And just as we had hoped the Platinum catering platter we ordered was fresh, the pricing was reasonable to it's proportion, and most importantly it was delicious!! All my friends loved it and we couldn't have had better food for our special gathering. There's a lot of sushi restaurants in Manhattan, but if you're looking for THE BEST, Oita Sushi is where I would recommend to everyone!!!
This place is a consistent treat. My favorite sushi spot for miles, the dine-in experience is lovely, everyone working there is so sweet, and the food?? These folks don't miss. Shout-out to the karaage and agedashi, but you literally cannot go wrong with the sushi and sashimi here. Quality is top notch, show them some love
Another great Japanese restaurant to add to my collection of favorite restaurants. A bit expensive but worth it.
I am absolutely blown away by this sushi establishment in Manhattan! I was not expecting much due to the higher-than-normal prices, but I was absolutely blown away by the freshness of the sushi and the quality of the miso soup, not to mention the salads on the side were really tasty. The salmon sashimi was fresh, and the tuna sashimi was delicious. The shrimp shumai was really nice. The salad on the side was amazing! I usually don't eat salad, but I couldn't stop eating this particular salad. The miso soup was really fresh and yummy too~ I will definitely be coming back.
While there is limited seating, the service is spectacular. I had to move to a barstool, after a large party walked in. I agreed to move, and the staff served me extra sashimi and edamame to show their appreciation. I was very thankful. The rolls were tasty and fresh. Will be recommending this spot.
Lunch special is fantastic, and so is dinner. Very fresh sushi, very tasty, portions and price are reasonable. Staff is very friendly.
Uniformly delicious, inventive, varied, high quality dishes. We ate half a dozen appetizers, varied sushi and salmon teriyaki, some beers and dessert. Everything fresh and beautifully served. The staff was lovely and solicitous, the decor simple classy and the atmosphere comfortable and low key with cool jazz in the background. And the price was very reasonable especially given the excellent quality of the food and service. A wonderful find. Highly recommend.
One of the best spots in NYC for Udon and Handrolls. I’ve been to a lot of Japanese restaurants around the city (including the most expensive ones) and this is one of the my go-to places. Also, the owner and staff are super kind and attentive. Love the atmosphere and everything about this place. Just be sure to make a reservation beforehand.
Oita is fantastic. I go here all the time with my partner because they consistently have some of the freshest and tastiest sushi in Brooklyn. You can't go wrong with any of the dishes but the sushi sampler is my favorite, a unique selection of house rolls you can't find anywhere else. Pesto, pico de gallo, fried potato shavings... they might not sound like they fit, but the pairings are phenomenal. Of course they also have traditional options that are equally tasty. The staff is super friendly and welcoming to top it off. If you have never visited before you need to. If you have, you need to go again.
I’ve eaten here a handful of times, and order for pickup occasionally. Whether dining in or taking away the staff are friendly and very accommodating. The sushi has been on point every time. The pricing is very competitive for the notable quality. Way better in both value and quality than anything else in the neighborhood. Truly fantastic.
Oita is hands down my favorite restaurant! I go there as much I can because the fish is ALWAYS delicious and by far the best in the neighborhood for sushi. I got hooked on Oita because they’re Sashimi Sampler and as I continue to explore the menu I really just love everything I try. The Miso soup is delightful and the Yellowtail Jalapeño appetizer is my new favorite. I also really enjoy the minimalist ambience and one particular painting of a sleeping cat on the wall. It is definitely a restaurant you want to eat at. As much as you can.
Oita sushi checked all the boxes. The sushi is very fresh and tasty. Their rolls are very different from other places because their rice feels light and savory. I even had their sashimi and the fish is very fresh - it melts in your mouth. Their service is superb 👏👏👏and the atmosphere is very intimate. If you are in Brooklyn, this is the best place to eat 😊
I love sushi! I googled and found this sushi restaurant. I bought several lunch boxes and enjoyed with my friends at the park. They looked very fresh and the taste... They’re amazing! They’re gone in a flash!!! We’re in heaven. I was so glad we all enjoyed and felt so happy with the best quality sushi.
Amazing food! Oita never disappoints, both the staff and cuisine is immaculate. I travel an hour just to get the food from here, but the ride is 100% worth it every time! The Signature Roll Set is a must because you get to sample a bunch of unique rolls you can’t find anywhere else. I can’t recommend Oita enough!!!
This is a hidden gem in Brooklyn! The service was great, they have a non-contact service which means you have to scan their menu and order by using your phone. The place has such a good vibe, once you come inside you feel kind relaxed. The food was delicious, I tried the Tuna Ceviche, Baja Tuna roll and New York Roll and Bibibamp! Everything was so tasty. I would definetely come back to this place.
(From someone that is extremely hard to please regarding Japanese Cuisine) This is my new NYC favorite. It fully embodies the essence of Omakase, and executes beautifully. I have been searching for true Omakase within the city, and it has been surprisingly difficult to find. What I ask is a place that puts thought into the food, focuses on the fish, with reasonably pricing. Oita hits all scores. Impeccable combinations focusing on bringing out the delicacy of the fish, the Akami (tuna red meat, 赤身) is especially astonishing... even better than all my 20+ experiences in Japan. The dining environment is pleasing, using wood as its main décor just as tradition. The seats are so generously spaced, you won't even overhear conversations from the next table. Oita does not abuse toppings to mark up its price. On top of all this, on Christmas the Omakase even came with a glass of Kubota Manju (very high-ranking gourmet sake). At $85 Omakase, it is truly a pearl of the NYC Japanese cuisine scene. (Please forgive my poor photo capabilities. It does not match the amazement of Oita and is missing the last plate of 5)
Came across this restaurant while I was in the area and it was the best experience! We did the lunchtime omakase and absolutely loved it! Very high quality food and service. Oh and the drinks are delicious! Oita will definitely be a sushi restaurant that I frequent. We ordered: both cocktails, a plum wine, shishito peppers, shrimp dumpling, pork dumping, and the 9 pc omakase lunch special (all items were 10/10)
Beautiful omakase experience. Sat at the sushi bar and had the loveliest time with Hiro’s beautifully curated sushi omakase. Incredible and thoughtful flavors brought together with gorgeous fresh fish from Japan, Tasmania, New Zealand, and a few from the US too. Such a special meal. Don’t be fooled by the fact that they offer takeout - dining in made me feel like I was in Tokyo all over again.
loved having lunch here! the food is amazing, fresh, and well-balanced. my lunch box (pictured below + a bowl of miso soup) is $28, which i thought was reasonably priced. what delighted me the most was how spacious and serene the restaurant was! nothing like your typical brooklyn restaurant where you’d have trouble even just squeezing in between two tables. give oita a try!
Had dinner there last night. Literally the best meal I’ve had! So clean and fresh! I ate so much and still didn’t feel heavy or bloated at all. Atmosphere felt warm and happy. Super caring service. Please try it out. I wish I lived nearby so I could go regularly…enjoy!
After a long gap of 3-4 years, I finally had the opportunity to revisit Oita food, and it was well worth the wait. One of the highlights of my meal was the spicy tuna on crispy rice, which was incredibly delicious. What impressed me even more was their unique approach to sushi rolls, with a thin layer of rice that allowed me to savor a variety of fish and vegetables. The Oita sashimi stood out for its exceptional freshness and delightful chewiness. Furthermore, the staff members were incredibly friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. I am definitely planning to return in the future without any hesitation. Fresh fish, friendly service, and satisfied tastebuds are just the tip of the iceberg when you decide to eat here! I loved the food as well as the employees and would definitely recommend everyone in New York to eat here.
Went here for the first time for lunch with my friend. The decor and ambiance is really lovely. I got the sashimi platter and everything was so fresh and tasty. This place is so beautiful and the food is really good. My friend got the udon with tempura and said it was delicious. Highly recommend.
This is a delightful addition to the neighborhood that really ups the quality of the restaurants around here. We decided to try Oita for takeout, but I have to say the interior is gorgeous, and on a Saturday night, business looked good (tables were still safely distanced, which I appreciate). We ordered the tempura udon, the kimchi, the fire roll and the chirashi, and everything was so delicious and fresh. The food was packaged and presented SO beautifully -- just as gorgeous as the photos in the online menu. I loved the texture of the noodles -- perfectly bouncy, and the broth tasted clean and comforting. The fish in the roll and the chirashi was really nice -- good quality and tasty. Lovely, fast service, too. The food was ready even a few minutes before the promised time. The whole experience really exceeded my expectations. I'm definitely going to be a regular here. Welcome to Park Slope, Oita!
Came first time with my wife 2 years ago, food was awesome. Came back again with my 2 daughters and the food did not disappoint. Food was fresh and quality was same as the first time I came.
I’ve been wanting to try this place out for a while and finally ordered pickup for dinner tonight. The restaurant has a modern and clean looking interior, where I look forwarding to dining at one day. The food I got was excellent. Let’s face it, Park Slope has a lot of mediocre (and that’s being generous) at best sushi places. I will definitely be going to Oita more to satisfy my sushi cravings. The food was excellent. I got the salad, toro with wagyu beef trmaki, and deluxe sashimi. The packaging for takeout was pristine and minimized plastic where possible. Everything came on paper board containers that said “compostable” on them and a clear plastic lid. I know the toro-wagyu temaki I got was pricey but definitely worth the splurge. All the sashimi tasted great and distinct. You didn’t get the feeling that the fish was frozen for a long time to the point that they all taste the same and the texture is meh. If you’re craving good and not over-priced sushi in Park Slope, Oita is your spot! Katsui and the omakase places are good too but once go down the list it can get bad pretty quickly.
We ordered the $70pp 12-pc omakase and it was one of the best selections I’ve ever had. The nigiri portions are solid and we were very full by the end. We ended with a wagyu piece which was unique! Also ordered a happy hour yuzu gin cocktail which was great!
Oita made me feel like I was in Japan. It’s very quiet and clean inside, the menu is modest yet varied, and the food was delicious. We had the agedashi tofu, udon, miso soup, and sashimi. Every broth was balanced, complex, and warming. The sashimi was beautifully cut and arrived at our table at the perfect temperature, which I find rare in the US. I especially loved the ambiance. The tables are spread out, so that you really have space to breathe. It was very quiet and we could actually hear each other speak without having to project. And although we came on a cold, dreary Sunday evening, the space was warm, calming, and comfortable.
Omakase menu was fantastic, staff were lovely, space was relaxing. One of the rare restaurants where there was respect for the experience, rather than trying to cram as many people into the space as possible. Highly recommend.
★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I visited this restaurant based on a strong recommendation from one of my friends, and I can now confidently say I’ll be bringing every friend and family member who visits New York city here. The cooking is exceptionally well-executed. Despite utilizing a diverse range of ingredients, the balance of flavors is harmonious and enjoyable. The variation in textures throughout the meal also made for a very fun and engaging dining experience. Regarding the sushi, the neta is clearly superior in freshness, and the precise cut of the fish combined with the appropriate amount of shari demonstrates a mastery of the craft. And the udon? I forgot to take a picture though, the dashi is phenomenal. The noodles themselves are unique and distinctive-they reminded me of the outstanding quality of udon I've enjoyed while in Japan. The tempura was equally stellar-light, crisp, and I loved the daikon oroshi added in the sauce. I wholeheartedly recommend every dish I ordered; you can't go wrong here!
Fantastic food and ambiance. What a treat to have this in the neighborhood. Nice flavors, high quality and just generally elegant all for a reasonable price. Go here and support this business! Or order delivery at least. I am so looking forward to going back. Update: continue to love this place. We were there in person a few weeks ago and although they were a little busy and running behind (which is a great thing for them), they still delivered with wonderful food and service. Ordered delivery again tonight, and it was fantastic. Our guests were raving!
I took my wife here for our anniversary in June. We both fell in love with this place. We came here again for her birthday last night. Great atmosphere, amazing service, and the food! My god, the food! After sampling the Omikase, my wife and I both got infatuated with their wagyu sushi. It is to die for! Having had wagyu at many restaurants, got to say this as our favorite! The Uni sushi was amazing too. Highly recommended! Your taste buds will thank you!
We went to Oita Sushi yesterday and everything was excellent! We had the signature roll set, a beer, and the spicy chicken karaage — all very delicious. The rolls were fresh and well-prepared, and the chicken had just the right amount of spice and crispiness. Staff was super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Definitely a spot we’ll be coming back to!
Came here the other weekend with a group while visiting NY. This came highly recommended, so needless to say, my expectations were high. All of my expectations were met! I started with some tuna tatare and salad with ginger dressing. The tuna tatare was so rich, and the ginger dressing was so flavorful! (And yes, I will judge sushi places by their ginger dressing). The real star of the night though were the sushi platters. They came with what I believe were their signature rolls. We had some sashimi as well. The fish was very fresh, and each roll had its own unique flavor. One even had some sort of lemon sauce, which is a pairing I never would have imagined for sushi, but it was very delicious! The staff were very attentive, and the decor was charming, including art from local artists and a creative front display. Definitely have to stop by again next time I'm in Brooklyn!
We had such a wonderful lunch here! I read about Oita on a neighborhood Reddit post and have been wanting to check it out. Everything was great from the spicy tuna crispy rice to the bento box to the omakase. Very fresh and lovely service. The inside is very cute too. We will be back!
I simply can’t say enough about Oita. The food is second to none, the quality of the ingredients is simply stellar, the value for the cost is the best I’ve found in any city in the country, and the hospitality is comforting and warm. The sake selection is fantastic and very reasonably priced. The food also delivers really, really well. This is a place that feels like home, and it felt that way from the first time I went. My best friend and I have been coming here for years now, and we tell anyone who will listen about it. You can’t go enough, and I can’t say enough about the management and staff — just wonderful people making wonderful meals happen.
high quality fish. Consistently good spot. dined in once. Had takeout twice. ambiance is interesting but doesn’t match the vibe. some of the takeout delivery guys don’t close the door when they go in or out which gets annoying. food is well plated and superb. signature rolls were well thought out, unique and executed. Two are on my list of must tries but just not my taste preference
This is my husband’s and my favorite sushi restaurant in the neighborhood. We come here for their incredible lunch specials and also for date night. The service is always incredible and the food is amazing. Highly recommend starting with the tuna and crispy rice. The sushi rolls are unique and like nowhere I’ve been before. I always get the signature roll set. It’s sorted from light to spicy. The happy salmon rolls truly taste like sunshine. They’re so fresh, sweet, and special. The fire roll is my second favorite and is a great pairing of tuna, avocado, and pepper! I can’t say enough good things about this wonderful restaurant. I hope it thrives in the neighborhood forever.
We’ve ordered takeout hand roll sets from Oita before. We took them to the park for a picnic and they were delicious and well packed. The seaweed of the hand rolls were each wrapped in plastic so they wouldn’t go soggy. Ever since then, I’ve wanted to dine it. It’s so cute inside. We came by on the weekend around noon and it was pretty empty. There’s a sushi counter and many tables too. We ordered 2 appetizers and the sushi roll set. Everything was tasty and came out pretty quickly. Highly recommend!
UPDATE FROM MOST RECENT VISIT: Mind Blowing Chicken Karagee (spicy boneless fried chicken). The food was first class from start to finish. Party of 15, we enjoyed various dishes from suishi to tamaki (tray of 5 signature hand rolls) artfully done. Excellent service. A wonderful time, thank you. This is how a dining experience should be. Very tasty and high quality ingredients. It's just great.
The best lunch option in Park Slope, and there are lots of good options. 🍱 The bento boxes are both excellent, and the perfect size for lunch. 🍜 It’s rare to find a good Udon, and I love this one! 🍣 The sashimi set is a lot more food than I thought, the salmon slices are quite big. 🗽 I love the New York crunch roll, with spicy mayo and chips on top.
We had the omakase, fried chicken, and the wagyu-toro temaki. The food was quite good with a decent price. I fully enjoyed the omakase. The chicken was quite spicey, so just know that before you order. It was a bit strong in comparison to the simplicity of sushi, but still tasted delicious. I wasn’t too impressed with their cocktails, but the food is great! The ambience is pretty bright and children friendly. A bit too bright for my taste, but the food is worth the trip!
Very Mid. You pay for the ambiance, which is very pleasant and relaxing, but the food is meh. Not for foodies 😭
Came here for a dinner with the family. The menu is simple with good choices. The sushi came out fast and was very fresh. Presentation was high class and they made our dinner a good one. The pricing is up there for the quality of food. The Omakase was good but for the money the selection of fish could have been better as to what we have had elsewhere.
Roll and sushi deluxe from the bar is just ok, nothing crazy so won’t recommend. Spicy tuna on crispy rice isn’t bad and spicy chicken karaage is really good!! Def get the 10 pcs. Their signature temaki set is worth trying to. They have vegetarian temaki set so it’s a great place to bring vegetarian friends! Meets expectation for the price (except for the combos from the bar).
3/5 Quality of Food 4/5 Quantity of Food 5/5 Service 4/5 Value (Price to Food + Service) I would say this is a classic case of form over function. Presentation is great, I ordered the mommy rose roll and it definitely looked better than it tasted. It wasn't bad but it was a little on the bland side. Friendly people and very helpful service, but unfortunately would not be my first choice.
Earlier this year I had dinner at Oita and left feeling quite disappointed. While the fish quality was actually very good, the rice, a core element of any sushi experience, was mushy and poorly textured. For a sushi restaurant, especially one in this price range, that’s a serious flaw.
