Oh my my, this place is such a gem of a place. I had a great time here. I got a peek of their kitchen area, I kid you not, it’s the cleanest kitchen space I’ve ever seen in a restaurant. The owner is naturally so welcoming and makes you feel special. 100% recommend this place.
Reasonably priced and so delicious! We have come back many times- the service never misses and the food is always amazing quality! they treat you like their own :)
This is the only restaurant in New York where my body consistently feels great after every meal. Maybe it’s because it’s because of the “love” they say is the main ingredient in their food. Also: excellent vibe
Amazing delicious food with authentic Colombian flavor. The place: Really retro and quaint with a tranquil ambiance. Well decorated and charming. It never got noisy or crowded. Service: Staff are pleasant well mannered and attentive. Angela the owner came over to accommodate our meal and Mae sure we were finding everything nice. Food: generous portions and delicious. Try the spicy chicken ( which is delicious and not spicy) and their guanábana juice with milk. I definitely recommend this place.
Do you want some comforting, warm, delicious, homemade food? Food that makes you feel like someone's grandma whipped it up just for you? And service that treats you like you're best friends? Yes, yes you do and this is the spot. I've come here a few times now and every dish is so good. It's almost unfair how good it is. I could put down 7 of their signature Arepas and not feel a tinge of guilt about it. And if it's cold out? Get some of the best soup in all of Williamsburg right here (even the vegan soup is out of this world). My wife and I went again last night and Nicolas was such an amazing server. Always with a smile, making sure everything was delicious. He even helped us with some recommendations that he grew up eating that were amazing. Get the Oblea!!! Oh and the cocktails were perfect. Blackberry Mojito? Never had one before, need 100 of them. Why're you still reading this? Just go and feel better about everything. Truly an underrated gem in the neighborhood and I'll scream it from the rooftops.
Great atmosphere, great food. Love that they have many classic Colombian dishes with vegan options. The brunch prix fixe is a great deal.
We visited their Bryant Park booth. The food and service were great . They had vegan options such as fries and empanadas. The food was very flavorful. Definitely worth the visit .
My meal here stands out among recent dining experiences. The kitchen presents original combinations with flavors that shine. The team balances efficiency with a friendly manner. Workers here make the experience better and the food is great. This spot maintains its standards.
This place is a hidden gem. Literally took us back to Cali. The decor is beautiful, very lively and colorful. The food was delicious, we had the ceviche de chicharrón, the arepa burger and the limonada de coco. Everything was so tatsy. The portions are perfect. And the service was great. So excited to find a piece of home in NY
Great food in an atmosphere that perfectly complements the flavors and feel. The empanadas are crisp and flavorful, and also very healthy; they leave you feeling full but not bloated like lower quality fried food does. I recommend getting the 3 empanadas combo. Also their fruit juices are really good and they have some tropical fruits that are hard to get anywhere else. Overall, top quality spot for a casual meal and reasonable prices too. This has become my go-to spot when I visit the city.
This place has been able to be get a full immersion cultural experience. I got there for the food and I was greatly impressed. Affordable, well presented and with the right amount of service for being welcomed and not overwhelmed. There’re more content in the place to make it even more inviting. I won’t tide you with descriptions; but the “La linterna” posters are a full Art show on them selves and there’s a wall of art for sale of emerging artist and a roll up screen for film screenings. My photos are not the best; but it’s what I got to show a friend a pandebono waffle and their logo. I can’t wait to go back!
Just had to write about Palenque in Brooklyn - this place is a gem! Walked in one day craving something hearty and found myself in this super chill Colombian spot. The vibe? Totally laid-back and friendly, like you're just hanging out at a friend's kitchen. Now, the empanadas here are legit the best I've had. Crispy on the outside, and the inside? Oh man, so flavorful and delicious. And the arepas, wow, they're like fluffy, tasty clouds of goodness. You can really tell they care about using fresh, organic stuff. Every time I go, it's like a mini escape to Colombia. The staff always greets you with a smile, and it's just such a warm, welcoming place. Seriously, if you're around Brooklyn and want some awesome Colombian food, hit up Palenque. You won't regret it!
Let me tell you, folks, this Colombian restaurant is tremendous, it's huge, it's beautiful. The food is fantastic, really, really tremendous. I had the best empanadas I've ever had in my life, believe me. The guava & Columbian cheese flavors were just amazing, really terrific. And the ajiaco soup, oh boy, the soup was perfection, just incredible. The service was also top-notch, the staff was very friendly and attentive. The decor of the restaurant was also very nice, very elegant, very classy, just like me. Let me tell you, this restaurant is a real gem, it's a hidden treasure in the heart of New York City. I highly recommend it to everyone, it's really, really tremendous. I give it five stars, folks, five big beautiful stars. And let me tell you, no one knows restaurants better than me, believe me.
Wow, so good. Great strong coffee, homemade arepas with a lot of love and care. Really great spot, we loved it. Chill vibes and prices are great. The empanadas are also epic, home made and so fresh. Definitely cured the hangover. The fiancée seems to complete full sentences after the breakfast here. Which is usually a plus.
We shared the mini arepas and spicy braised chicken thighs for dinner and both were pretty good. I prefer arepas a little thicker so they are more moist but the hogao, beans, and cheese was nice on top. We also had a couple of drinks (mojito & margarita) that were tasty. Overall had a decent meal here!
I was better off going to a Colombian bakery for REAL Colombian food... Skirt steak was tasteless all the way to the chimichurri sauce. Cilantro rice that accompanied rib soup was hard like it was in fridge and improperly heated in microwave. Cute place to hang but not to eat.
This is a tough one to write because, as Colombians, we always want to support our own and see our culture represented well. However, I have to be honest: my recent visit was a major disappointment. The Food: Where was the "Sazón" I came in craving a caldo de costilla, a dish that is supposed to be the ultimate comfort food—the kind that warms your soul. What I received was essentially flavorless water. There was no trace of garlic, no onion, and absolutely no "love" or depth to the broth. It felt like they just boiled a piece of meat and called it a day. To make matters worse, the white rice served with it was clearly not fresh. In a Colombian kitchen, rice is sacred; serving old rice is a huge "no-no." The service from our waitress was completely lacking in hospitality. There was no warmth, no checking in—just a cold, indifferent attitude that made us feel like an inconvenience. Ironically, the cleaning lady was the highlight of the staff. She was kinder and more attentive to the environment than our actual server was to her guests. On a positive note, the cappuccinos were actually very good. They were well-made and hit the mark, but you don't go to a Colombian restaurant just for the coffee foam.
