Avis sur Uncle Taher Restaurant Brooklyn
Uncle Taher is under new management, and the food offers a Yemeni flavor I’ve honestly never experienced before. I’ve been eating Yemeni food for more than 30 years, and this place truly surprised me. The soup alone deserves special mention — its thickness and depth of flavor are simply unexplainable. Rich, comforting, and perfectly balanced, it tastes like something that can only come from generations of experience. The Lamb Haneeth is outstanding. Tender, perfectly cooked, and deeply flavorful, it falls apart effortlessly and carries that slow-cooked, traditional taste that defines real Yemeni cuisine. This is a family-owned business, and you can feel that love in every bite. The mother is the chef, and her cooking has that rare, authentic homemade touch that’s becoming hard to find these days. If you’re looking for real Yemeni food with soul, not just another restaurant version, this place is absolutely worth visiting. Highly recommended.
This was my first time visiting this restaurant and I highly recommend it! The service was great and the restaurant was very clean. Even the bathrooms were clean. Our food did not take long and was fresh and piping hot. The flavor was amazing. We had the mixed grill family style platters and fahsa mix. The 3 of us were full and satisfied. I look forward to returning soon!
The decor is beautiful and our first time trying out Yemeni cuisine. We had tried cheese, lamb, and potato sambusa. All three were good. However, we had asked for chicken but received cheese instead. We had ordered zurvian lamb with rice that came with salad & soup. The sauce on the salad was the best. The lamb smell was overpowering but my spouse liked it. Everything was good. Will return to try chicken next time.
I was waiting for this place to open and came across it recently; they been open for a month now. I tried the zurbian chicken. The meal comes with soup (Maraq) and salad and zahawuq (spicy sauce) which was delicious. Honestly the soup was one of the better ones I’ve tried!! The menu has a good variety and I’d def go back to try some more food. You can see they have a hot food window so some food is fresh and ready to be served. I did not get to try the bread.. yet. I ended my meal with their self serve delicious Yemeni tea. Lovely service and good music. I had a great meal. Will definitely be back. Also the man did not charge me tax from the register because I was being taxed by the credit card machine and he didn’t want to double tax me. I was taken back. May all Halal businesses flourish. Update: I went again today and the Zurbian rice was done very well and much better than last time which made me realize I didn’t get the correct rice the first time but the chicken was so skimpy. A small leg and half of half a breast. Why??
It’s a bold choice opening a Yemeni restaurant here considering the nearby competition, but this spot holds its own. I had the kebsa, and it was pretty good (very similar to a standard kebsah you’d expect from a Yemeni restaurant).
The real 🇾🇪 food feels as I’m in Yemen. Staff very friendly and always smile 😊 All the best
The food is great , good portion , very helpful and nice stuff .

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Hidden Gem of Authentic Yemeni Cuisine If you’re craving a truly authentic culinary experience, look no further than this exceptional Yemeni restaurant. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with the warm hospitality that Yemen is known for. The ambiance is cozy and culturally rich, with traditional decor that instantly sets the mood for a flavorful journey. The food is the real star here. Every dish is bursting with flavor and clearly prepared with love and tradition. The Mandi was perfectly cooked ...... tender, fragrant, and beautifully spiced. The Saltah, Yemen’s national dish, was a revelation ..... hot and bubbling in its stone bowl, topped with frothy hilbeh and served with warm, freshly baked bread. It’s comfort food at its absolute best. We also tried the Fahsa and lamb haneeth, and both were fall-off-the-bone tender with deep, complex flavors. Portions are generous, and prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you get. Service was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The staff were happy to explain the dishes and make recommendations, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Saddia is a great waitress very polite and fast service . Whether you’re familiar with Yemeni cuisine or trying it for the first time, this restaurant is a must-visit. It’s a rare find authentic, affordable, and absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be back!
Food was good. Our server was so nice. Chicken with okra is highly recommended. However, the roasted chicken was a bit dry, so I'd recommend a different preparation (the chicken with okra seemed boiled, and that was good). Lots of free sides, pita, salad, etc. Pretty good deal. Only charged $1 for a water bottle, too. One other thing to note, they didn't run the AC (or it was very low) when I was there. So be prepared that it might be warm in the restaurant.
Wonderful place, memorable, the staff were kind and the food tasted great, beautiful family atmosphere, their haneeth and kabseh is remarkable, please come and bring your families

It was our first time here. We ordered hummus, adeni chai, chicken kabsa and chicken agda curry. Came with 3 naans on the side. Loved the chai- flavorful and delicious, just the perfect amount of sugar. Loved the hummus. Chicken kabsa was good. Curry was served in a stone pot so it gave a slightly smoky flavor to it. Everything was low on salt. Hope they improve that. Service was quick and friendly.

Been to this place few time. It has Great food. However terrible service. To dine in, expect to be ignored. walked in sat down and waited for 10 min while waitress just stands there and never attends to anyone especially when they come in. Had to walk out and go to yemen cafe 1 block up. inexperienced and no custome service experience. Or Maybe, feels too special to cater to customers. Either way bad management. What a disappointment.

The worst food experience I have ever had. We had a piece of metal in our plate. Their food was terrible. Meat was extremely salty and undercooked. Proportion was bad, a lot of rice, & a little bit of meat. Food was overpriced for the quality, quantity and seating arrangements. Staffs were not welcoming. Overall this whole experience was so bad can’t even put in words.
