Avis sur Iron Tail Tavern Buffalo
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at Iron Tail Tavern. We sat at the bar and our bartender Niko was great. We shared several small plates and the octopus carpaccio was the highlight of the night.
We were so happy to see a restaurant that incorporates Spanish food and influence into their menu in Buffalo. My husband, our toddler, and I went for an early dinner and didn’t need reservations, but they are accepted. Anthony, our server, was welcoming and attentive. We ordered a few small plates (goat cheese, chorizo, the bacalao fritters) and the seafood rice to share. Everything was delicious. We will be back!
The price for what you get here is incredible. If you are out and about and you want an amazing meal and a drink or two STOP HERE! The service was prompt and polite. The Chef prepared every bit perfectly. After the experience expected the meal to cost double of what it did.
The BEST bites of food I’ve had for YEARS. We had cod cakes and the goat cheese and stuffed peppers. Every bite woke up my tastebuds and I just sat and savored the flavors. The cocktails were just as unique and delicious. I felt like the prices were more thank fair. The staff was welcoming and very interested in our thoughts. Cannot wait to go back. It was really a treat.
This place is wonderful! We came in on a rainy Sunday. Our server, Anthony, went above and beyond to give us the best experience. He was very knowledgeable and welcoming. The bartender even gave us great drink recommendations that were corroborated by the other guests. Their chef Andy made us incredible food as well! This is a fantastic place to check out, don’t sleep on it!
Lunch at Iron Tail Tavern was excellent. Everything is made in house and is delicious. We love the small plates because you can sample many different menu items. Anthony, our server was attentive and very professional.
Went in for the half price oysters but unfortunately they ran out! But everything was still great! Prawns and rice were so good. I had Olivia as a server and she was very knowledgeable and provided excellent service! Will be back!
Wanting to try Spanish food and was totally glad we did. Anthony recommended an exceptional wine, and guided us through the menu. All topped off by a lemon tart cake that, like the entire meal, had outstanding flavor. Hope to revisit soon. Not to be missed!
We came here for brunch and it was incredible! Anthony our server and Stephanie our bartender created a delicious and inviting experience. The food was fresh and unique, and the gin and tonic menu is chef’s kiss * I want to definitely come back for their dinner menu!
Chef Andrew Berger has brought a true gem to Buffalo with his Spanish menu. The tapas were great to share or for a light meal, and the marinated roasted chicken was amazing! Great atmosphere overlooking Elmwood Avenue. We will be back. There is no other restaurant like this in Buffalo - we needed some tapas!
We ate brunch here today and it was SUCH a lovely meal! I’d wanted to try this place for awhile but the dinner options are more expensive; brunch items were generally under $20. I’m just sorry we didn’t try it sooner! I truly savored everything about the meal - unique flavor combinations, perfect textures, beautiful presentation. They were recognizable dishes and ingredients but paired in ways I’d never tried before, like lemon ricotta with French toast, or quinoa-stuffed peppers. It was a nice contrast to the typical breakfast menu you can find anywhere. I don’t remember the server’s name (sorry!) but he was so pleasant and had impeccable timing with bringing the dishes and checking on us, not too little or too much. Very nice experience all around and we will definitely be back (possibly tomorrow night for half off oysters and some specialty gin cocktails I don’t see much)! We had (came to about $80) -GOOD coffee, mimosa, and Bloody Mary - goat cheese torchon -orzo small plate - stuffed peppers - French toast
Just had another delightful small plates dinner date here. Love these clever takes on Spanish tapas. Our waiter Anthony took great care of us, recommending great drinks for the meal. The espresso martini tasted like a tiramisu in a glass.
Highly recommend iron tail if in buffalo. Clean restaurant with friendly staff. Sat on the patio and shared 4 dishes between 2 people. Got the sangria, patatas bravas, hummus, goat cheese, and grilled zucchini. The portions were much larger than expected so no worries about being left hungry. Cute spot to check out!!
Chef: Steve Waiter: Eddie App: Garlic Zucchini Wife: Chicken Pot Pie Me: Pork Osso Buco The misses and I walked in, we were promptly greeted by the bar keep, asked if we wanted a bar seats or table, and showed us to our table on the 2nd level. Eddie our waiter was prompt with greeting us. Very personal-able gentleman, got our water and took our drink selections. With him know it was our 1st time, he didn’t try directing us to the most expensive items on the menu. He actually listened to what we like and directed us to what he thought we may like…. And he was spot on with his suggestions. Everything was FRESH!!! Every herb and spice seemed straight off the stem. The Zucchini was still crisp, yet tender. Sauce was freshly made. Pork was seared nicely, yet tender. Mashed potatoes were fresh and creamy. The pan jus from the pork was a little much, but the vegetables gave the extra jus something to do… lol The crust of the pot pie was nice and flakey. Chicken was tender, the saffron sauce was nice and smooth. English peas weren’t over cooked and still carried the fresh pick flavor even after being perfectly baked in the pie. The atmosphere was great. Sometimes during Buffalo winters, restaurants have a difficult time getting the temp, just right…. Well it was just right!!! We got the opportunity to speak with the Chef Steve. Very pleasant and welcoming guy. He came out and spoke to us at length about his experience and his authentic style of Italian cooking. Told us he was from Italy and that’s what he was looking to bring to the establishment. I gave him some constructive criticism about the extra pan jus, but he was very receptive. It’s been a while since I’ve given a restaurant a perfect rating, but the stars aligned with this one…. We’ll definitely be going back to try the other favorites and we definitely recommend you do too.
This was a spontaneous date night for my wife and I and we just loved it! We started with the French onion dip (with perfectly toasted crostinis) and the crispy banana pepper risotto cakes *both on the specials menu*. The entrees were ridiculously delicious (bourbon pork chop with sweet potato hash and fresh peach salsa and the halibut with roasted veggie risotto) o.m.g. We are members of the clean plate club. Will absolutely be back!!!
Charming little restaurant with a unique vibe. The food presentation is outstanding, and the service is attentive and friendly. While some dishes and drinks were a hit, others didn’t quite land—but overall, still a worthwhile experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Iron Trail Tavern, and it was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a while. From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional. Our server, Jenna, was attentive and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our meal. A special shout-out to Chef Paul, who went above and beyond to accommodate our dietary needs. With gluten and dairy allergies in our family, finding a restaurant that can cater to our requirements is always a challenge. Chef Paul made sure our meals were not only safe for us to eat but also delicious. He substituted ingredients where necessary, allowing us to enjoy our food without any worries. The food itself was outstanding. I had the Winter Salad with Chicken, which was fresh and flavorful. My wife ordered the Short Ribs, which were tender and cooked to perfection. Our son enjoyed a Classic Cheeseburger, without cheese of course, and it did not disappoint. Our guest opted for the Surf and Turf and cleaned his plate, a testament to how good it was. Overall, Iron Trail Tavern impressed us with its excellent food and top-notch service. Special thanks to Jenna and Chef Paul for making our visit so memorable. We'll definitely be returning soon!
My wife and I are visiting from out of town and were just looking for a patio that would take the pouch we’re dog-sitting. This was definitely the most upscale restaurant I’ve ever been to with a dog. The food, drinks and service were all outstanding. I can tell from Google menu photos they rotate their menu. It’s easy to see that they put a lot of effort into getting everything just right and it comes through in how the food tastes. We both decided to go with the pork porterhouse. Neither of us would typically get a pork entree because, let’s be honest it’s usually dry and chewy. However, we had a feeling that this pork would be different. It was a good decision. It was moist and delicious. We may go back before we leave the Buffalo area!!!!
This place exceeded expectations. The food was delicious. The flavors and textures were perfectly balanced. The atmosphere was nice, and clean. Service was great. We will be back for certain!
I sat at the bar and Addam was bartending, he was extremely personable and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. He made me the best aviation I’ve ever had, and to eat I got the octopus, stuffed peppers and the cod fritters. Everything was 10/10 delicious. Taylor was also working and he was wonderful, really checking in on me and making sure I had everything I needed. The food and drinks were great but it’s the excellent service from Addam and Taylor that really made this place stand out to me, I will definitely be back!
Dinner was delicious. We shared four different small plates, and especially enjoyed the goat cheese, chorizo burger, and dulce de leche. The drinks were next-level. Our server, Anthony, was attentive, fun, and made excellent recommendations. We will definitely return, hopefully to try the brunch!
Absolutely delicious! Service, food, drinks were amazing. We will be back!
I was delighted by the number of gluten-free options, as eating out is usually very challenging with my allergies. Our server was super attentive and everything tasted fantastic. Will definitely be back!
I did a pick up order and grabbed the Iron Tail burger and was not disappointed! It came with mozzarella, candied bacon, and arugula, along with a side of fries. It was a solid burger and you couldn’t beat the price ($12) taking advantage of their "friends and family" special. I still want to go for a dine in experience to try some of their cocktails, but knowing the food offerings were delicious is always a great place to start.
My experience a few years ago was sub par. I saw an old chef friend had made this his new home, and gave it a second chance. Andy Berger designed a beautiful, flavorful menu! The Piri Piri Chicken was delicious , and huge, and the Strip was lightly topped with the best chimichurri I’ve ever had! Our server, Anthony, was attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful with his drink and food recommendations. We will be back!
We had a fabulous dinner last night. Everything from the tasty wine and tantalizing hummus through the outstanding entrees was delicious. Holly, our server, was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. We hope to be back soon.

My girlfriend and I looked through our list of restraunts we wanted to stop in at and decided on Iron Tail Tavern tonight. The food was amazing the oysters especially were killer! Seriously Buffalo don't sleep on their monday oyster pricing. Big shout out to Kayla who was our bartender tonight. She 100% played a big part in the review for atmosphere and service tonight. Guaranteed we will be coming back.

second time here our waitress was the sweetest atmosphere is elegant view onto elmwood ave i just love we enjoy the food and drinks especially the squash raviolis one customer had dietary issues and the chief was vey attentive on making accommodations can't wait to go back perfect date night place
I think I’m going to really enjoy this place, today I came for lunch. But I will be back to try their dinner menu. I always found a restaurant, that has a nice crisp clean sophisticated look appealing to me. Iron Tail Tavern did everything right in the decor department. Upon entering you have the bar to your left, and then there’s a few high top tables to your right. Then you have upstairs dining area. I like this area, because there’s a lot of room up here. Plus the view overlooking the bar is really nice. Fries- love fresh cut fries (enough for two) Street-a-pita- This sandwich is true to its name. You get the feeling your in the slums of NYC, and your eating a sandwich from a shabby looking cart vendor. Nice chunks of chop up chicken, mixed with the flavors of sweet corn relish, and fontina cheese. Only complaint I have is, there was a few pieces of grizzle in the meat. House salad- was very fresh and would’ve been phenomenal. If the salad had more flavor from the dressing, and the candied walnuts. The salad was just bland but has so much potential. Manhattan- Nice strong drink. They don’t water down their drinks and that’s a good thing.
Got here to dinner this most recent visit. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar as we were early and wanted to watch a football game. The bartender was nice and attentive for the most part. We did share a bottle of wine and a dozen oysters, and both were perfect. We eventually sat down and had dinner. I think our server may have been the only one or one of two for the whole restaurant, which wasn't too busy at first. He was ok with attentiveness, but I also think it was because of the playoff game on TV and getting distracted by others that we did have to wait for some things longer than normal. I chose the short rib and my boyfriend the sirloin. The short rib was tasty, but too salty, but my boyfriends sirloin was delicious. We did end up getting desserts too which were the perfect ending to the evening. Tried brunch here on a Sunday and was not disappointed! We were the only table when we arrived and there were 8 of us. We started with mimosas, Irish coffees and two of the Shaksukas to share. The Shaksuka was so amazing and large enough to feed us all, so much flavor. For our meals we had Sausage Biscuits & Gravy, French Omelette, Iron Tail BUrger and Steak and Eggs which we all shared and loved everything. Our server was very attentive and the food was so delicious. We had a great time and would certainly be back!

Very nice place. Prices were very affordable, food was ok. We did Brunch and the pictures on Tic Tok were not what they served 😑.
Butternut squash soup was just amazing as was the beef wellington. Appetizers were all delicious. Main dishes were okay, but not anything we would rave over. Flourless chocolate cake was also okay, but we thought it was lacking something.

I have been to Iron Tail three times. The service was slow the first two times I went there but the food was good so I decided to give it another try. Again, the service was not good. We entered the bar a little after 5 pm and there were a few people dining at one table in the elevated dining area behind the bar. As my party of three sat down at the completely empty bar, the bartender said, "Those seats are reserved." I asked where we could sit. She then said, "The seats aren't really reserved I just wanted to save them for some patrons I used to see when I bartended here 6 months ago before I retired. I'm just filling in today but I might see them." (Spoiler alert: they never came). During the first round of drinks, the bartender decided to change out the rioja that was supposed to be in the sangria with a lambrusco because according to her, "she liked it better." This was not what the member of our party wanted and she did not enjoy the unrequested change. After making my drink, the bartender dropped the mixer, shattering it on the floor behind the bar thus preventing a repeat order of the drink if desired. We then asked if there were any specials. The bartender told us the oysters were half off because they were a few days old and the owner told them to make them half off because otherwise they wouldn't be able to sell them and they'd otherwise be used in a soup if not sold today. We placed an order for the Spanish olive oil dip and bone marrow. The bartender brought out the dishes and the Spanish olive oil dip did not come with olive oil. It was a tomato sauce with cheese in it. I said to the bartender, "This isn't an olive oil dip." The bartender told me it was olive oil. I don't know if she seriously thought it was olive oil, if she thought was so stupid I would believe here, or if she just didn't want to deal with the issue but it would be apparent to anyone that this was not an olive oil dip. I again told her this was not olive oil. The bartender then went to the back to check if it was or was not olive oil. A couple minutes later she came back and said she believed me that it was not olive oil and confirmed it was a tomato sauce with cheese. She then said they took the olive oil dip off the menu a while back but never updated the menu. I told her that we ordered the dish for the olive oil, not the bread. Changing the dip is tantamount to serving an entirely different dish than what was ordered. She didn't seem to understand this point that this was a bait and switch. In this day and age where people can have a litany of dietary restrictions including things like peanut, tree nut, dairy, vegetarian, vegan, pork/gelatin, etc she didn't seem to care that giving someone something entirely different than what they ordered is a big deal. There was no offer to take the dish back, allow us to order something different, nothing. I was upset by this quite a bit and let her know this isn't acceptable. The bartender then went to collect an empty glass. She dropped it behind the bar in front of us shattering it and the shards flew into mine and my mother's face. She was apologetic but the experience was irredeemable at this point. The bartender then left the bar for a couple of minutes. She came back with some olive oil with garlic that had just been chopped up and added to the oil. She also asked for our phone numbers so the owner could call us because he wasn't there that day. I didn't want to speak to the owner and told her she did not have to have him call us. She offered to give us an additional round of drinks but at this point we all just wanted to go home. We paid the bill and left. It was a very poor experience. To be fair the food (when you get what you order) is good but the service at this establishment is just consistently slow and bad.
Had heard nice things about the food here. Took my daughter for dinner and unfortunately was very disappointed. The food was amateurish at best, lacked any finesse or developed flavors. The octopus carpaccio was a disaster suffering from uneven knife work making for very tough pieces. Flavorless with frisée and cherry tomatoes that were so out of place. Both the strip steak and the baked cod were severely overcooked. Mashed my cod with a fork. Eating at the bar we could see and hear the restaurant mistakes. The bartenders were very nice though and the drinks were good. Wouldn’t go back.
Stopped in for a quick drink with my wife and MIL. Nothing on tap and didn’t want any of the bottled beer, so I ordered a Manhattan while my wife and MIL got beers. The bartender poured whiskey over a glass of ice, added simple syrup and served it to me, totally unaware that this is not a Manhattan. Not the end of the world, but also not a good sign. Bartender then asked us to sit outside. Outside seating was crowded, and we were hot, so we told him we preferred to stay inside. Bartender then straight up lied and told us they were closed from 3-5, despite google telling us this establishment is open 11-9. Clearly BS, but point taken. The plan became to pay for the drinks, chug them on the patio, then leave. Bartender refused to ring us up, saying the outside server would take care of it. Once outside, we asked for the check three times over the course of a half hour. We finally went back inside to try to pay one last time. The bartender who was “unable” to close us out suddenly gave us a check. Two stars because he totally forgot to charge us for the utterly failed Manhattan.
Laughably bad. Oysters were $40 for a dozen and weren’t cut correctly for eating. Patatas Bravas were disappointing, basically flavorless and we had to ask for more sauce because they were so dry and underdressed. (How someone messed up potatoes; I can never understand). $6 for a baguette that tasted like it was rubbed on a greasy flat top. The overall energy was so off. We called ahead to see if we needed a reservation and the guy on the phone acted like it was absolutely necessary. We walked in and the place was dead. I almost laughed when they asked if we had a reservation. Never in my life have I had to send back a desert, but the churros were hard, fried poorly. I’m Spanish and was excited to have Spanish fare in buffalo. I also work in service and recognize how hospitality should be… It’s painfully bright and they had project runway playing on the tv which really cheapened the atmosphere and experience even more while being insanely overpriced and disappointing.
Walked in on a Saturday night around 8pm... nobody in the front so my friend and I sat at the bar and waited... only around 6 minutes but still pretty bizarre. When the bartender came out we requested a table outside on the patio. Apparently they were having a problem with bees so he said if we were ordering any food we have to sit inside. There was another couple already on the patio but he told me it was because they were only having drinks. We promptly left the restaurant because I don't appreciate not having the option to sit outside... there weren't any night bees and if there were, we would just take one of the many available tables on the inside. Pretty poor service.
Went for brunch. Bartender can't make a decent cocktail, food sucked and servers passive aggressive. Skip this place and go to Bettys.
Food is not worth the prices they charge. The steak, salmon and French onion soup were flavorless. French onion soup was literally water with onions in it.
We waited about 15mins to see a server, which is absolutely fine. Ordered French onion soup which was onion water. Cocktails were a 4out of 5 which was happy about. The food was pretty tasteless, no flavor, very expensive. Service was so slow….. deff will not be back.
Decor is great but the food is really not good at all. We were there for a brunch and tried 4 different things. First of all ingredients are not listed on the menu so you are second guessing what you will get. Ordered a waffle which was either store bought frozen kind or stale from the previous day. Very disappointing.
I was very excited to try this restaurant however it was not that great. We ordered the banana pepper dip and lobster bisque which were fine as well as the surf & turf and sea bass. The filet mingon was good but the lobster was quite small and very rubbery. The sea bass was the best but unenthused by the 3 asparagus on each plate. It seemed like they were trying very hard but fell short.

First of all ingredients are not listed on the menu so you are second guessing what you will get. Ordered a waffle which was either store bought frozen kind or stale from the previous day. Very disappointing.
