First time here since the new owners and I dined in. The service was pretty good the gentleman was very polite and checked in often to see if I needed anything, he took my order within the first 10 minutes of arriving and giving me the menu ect. And my order came out in about 10 to 15 minutes after ordering. I ordered the torta especial and is was beyond what words can describe, the different meats were seasoned perfectly, the bread was very fresh and delicious, everything about it was great, it was big enough you could split it with someone if you wanted too. I would highly recommend trying this place out you won't be disappointed and keep in mind that fresh made food takes a little time to prepare so the little wait is worth every bite. If you want food thats fast and taste like crap go to taco bell but If you'd rather have great tasting authentic Mexican cuisine come here you won't be disappointed. PS if your in a hurry and only have a certain amount of time to get lunch or supper call ahead and they have it ready for you to eat when you arrive to dine in or take out.

Driving through with the family we stopped at this little jem in the middle of nowhere.. Cambridge illinois. Hungry and thirsty we stopped and we ordered and were left with filled bellies and well a little drunk. Thankfully we had a designated driver cause we still had a long drive to go. The food was on point and the beers were super cold and not flat. I would say it was the 1st time we did not boxed anything to bring home. Eduardo the manager was alone doing it all. Bartender, waiter, server and he had my drinks out in a minute followed by the food in about 15 mins. He was very professional and the place and restroom was squeeky clean. I highly recommend it. The decor was on point and it was lit and bright. I definitely highly recommended.
We were waited on quickly, despite a couple large groups, the steak tacos, and enchiladas with queso were awesome! Wait staff checked on us frequently. The atmosphere is cheerful, bright and clean. We will be back to try more tasty menu items! 🌮🌮🌮

Went for the first time tonight with my daughter and her boyfriend. Atmosphere was very inviting and the young men that were waiting on us were very very friendly and knowledgeable. My daughter had the chicken quesadilla fajita and it was huge, filled half the plate. I took a couple bites and it was awesome. I had a combo plate with an enchilada and tamale. Tamale was really good. The only minor thing I could say is the red enchilada sauce was slightly on the sweet side. My daughter‘s boyfriend said the same thing, out of courtesy, he let the staff know our thoughts. If you have a problem with the food or the service, don’t just blow it out online, be courteous enough to let the staff and owners know. It’s definitely a keeper restaurant in my book.
Their salsa picosa, chips and fajitas are delectable. You have to ask for the salsa picosa because they keep the secret good salsa concealed.
We drove 30 minutes to try El Barril,they did not disappoint. Friendly staff great food.
The shredded chicken tacos are phenomenal. Top them off with some of their homemade hot sauce 🤤
I am new to the area, and tried El Barril for the first time today. I have eaten at about 5 Mexican restaurants since I moved to the QC area, and this one was definitely the best. I had the Pastor Mexican Style Tacos. They were so good. Everything tasted fresh, and these tortillas are amazing. The pastor has a sweetness to it that I really enjoyed. Service with a smile, and the prices are good considering how fresh and tasty the food is. I moved here from California, and I am picky when it comes to Mexican food. This place is a winner!

Great food and service. The menu is expansive and has something for everyone. The prices were also reasonable - two of us ate for under $40. 5/5 would eat there again!
We have eaten here quite a few times since they opened and it's always delicious. The staff are friendly and the wait times are reasonable.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that asks me! Amazing food, amazing service and the girl at the bar makes the best drinks! Definitely is worth the drive :)

Had the chicken and rice—it was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The margarita was strong, refreshing, and really hit the spot. Service was fast and friendly, and the portions were generous. Highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!
Absolutely love this restaurant! This is our go to place with family and friends. We have ordered a lot of different menu items and have loved them all. The service is exceptional and the staff is super nice! They always go above and beyond! I'm so thankful that this great establishment chose to come to our town.

My first order was carry out. I am usually not a fan of the beans and rice sides. Other restaurants put effort in main dishes NOT El Barril. I ordered a taco dinner and with the sides the meal was exceptional! We will return, having carry out is very handy.
Food was great, service was excellent. However, I ordered a margarita and since im only an occasional drinker I could tell there was absolutely no alcohol in it. So warning do not order a poured alchohol drink. Next time water.
Arrived at pickup time and food wasn’t ready yet. Waited a few minutes while order was being put together so no big deal. I live a minute away so I was surprised that none of it was hot and we ended up microwaving it to warm it up. One of our meals was wrong as well. Maybe dining in is better. Staff was friendly.
Used to be really good when they first opened. Now they overprice for food and make you wait what seems like forever. Too high costs for only half the portions at the places in Geneseo. I’d love this place to stick around, but at this rate it won’t happen.
Ordered the same thing 3 different times and received something different every time. Also the Pollo Queso y Arroz comes with shells sometimes, sometimes not. Showed up when my order was supposed to be done, took an additional 15 mins for it to be ready, was only 2 tables with people. Foods decent just needs to be consistent.
They weren't ready to be open. 2 rude young confused girls seemed to be the only ones there. No sign to either seat yourself or wait and a rude response when asked if we just seat ourselves. I left right then. Next time try a food truck.
1st time coming here. We waited for 2 minutes for a table. We sat there for a good 25 mins or so with no drinks or anything. We had no waiter for that long. Soon after we left. They had sat people at are spot and got drinks and chips no longer than 5mins.
Ordered online & had my husband pick the food up. He arrived about 10 minutes after scheduled pick-up time. He was told that there no orders by my name and then just proceeded to help the other people in line before finally coming back and agreeing to prepare my order after showing proof of purchase. Had to wait another 25 minutes with only a "sorry" afterwards. The first time we ordered there, they got our order wrong for both meals. My vegetarian dish had meat in it. I really wanted to give a local place a fair shot, but it sadly keeps missing the mark
