Just a quick note to say that my husband and I had the best dinner last night. It was a simple order or a pepperoni pizza and the caprese sandwich (which quickly became one of the best sandwiches i've eaten in boston in the 23 years i've lived here). But we truly needed a night out without hiccups, and your meal before our show at the sinclair was just perfection.
Source is one of, if not, my favorite restaurant in Cambridge! The food is phenomenal - I highly recommend the Brussel sprouts and pepperoni pizza. The staff is knowledgeable and extremely kind. I highly recommend this restaurant for date night, night out with the girls or any special occasion!! I will keep coming back!
This was the best pizza I’ve ever had (The Garfield). Unbelievable, great vibe at the venue. The owners (Brian and Daniel) are hands on and present. Daniel was the “hostess” and Brian cooked the pizza. This place is a MUST in Boston!!! I’m going back tomorrow. Sign that!!!!!!! 5 stars is an understatement!!!!! Bartender (I’ll get her name tomorrow), the atmosphere, the location, the pizza, the apps, the beer, the everything. Top notch!!!! Loved it!!!!
The Source is located near the American Repertory Theater & perfect for a preshow meal. The pizzas are delicious as are the pastas and salads. The drinks are creative. The ambiance is hipster casual and the staff is friendly and helpful. It can get quite busy on the weekend so make a reservation if you plan to dine here, especially after Cynthia Erivo just dined here!
Dining here is an experience simply from the friendly host right when you walk in. No matter where you sit they've done a great job at separating you from other guests. The menu never disappoints. Love all their flavors. Their brunch is AMAZING such a range of options. Their pizza has such fluffy dough with an amazing cheese pull on each slice. Try all the cocktails! Each one has hints of flavors you won't miss.
Walked in without a reservation on a Saturday afternoon and we were lucky to get seats at the bar. The cocktails were great and I loved my pizza while my friend devoured their pasta. The place was buzzing and that’s expected since it was peak brunch time. Our server/bartender was very attentive and helped make our choices easier. Didn’t do the famous soufflé pancakes since we were full. Also gives us a reason to visit again.
Great pizza and salad restaurant. That’s mostly what we had so that’s what Im commenting on. The salads were not the same old that most places have and the pizza/calzone was delicious. Drink choices were also good. No beer on tap but a nice selection. Will need to return for dinner. Pictures do not do justice to how tasty this all was. Also, we were surprising one of our guests and the staff was so great in helping us with this.
Came here a few times, and each time was exceptional. I’ve mainly had the pizza and some small appetizers, and each pizza is delectable. I love the thin crust, and the topping to crust ratio is perfect. Definitely Would recommend for anyone in the area to eat there.
Loved source! Pizzas were tasty, salads nice. However they wouldn’t serve me (29 year old Brit) because I only had my drivers license and not my passport. Haven’t had this issue anywhere else in MA. So that sucked. Pizza slapped though!
New place that popped up in havard square during 2020 pandemic period.. went in for a brunch on Saturday at 2 pm and easily found a table through resy just 30 mins prior to that. Very attentive servers. We ordered two brunch cocktails , one called 'cherry bomb' and other a gin concoction called 'why so sour'. Both were excellent. For food we ordered the souffle pancakes which had Instagram worthy presentation, taste wise it was not special but it was all made fresh from scratch , so points for that. Both other entrees were really scrumptious which were the eggs in purgatory and the deconstructed grilled cheese with eggs. Pretty solid portions and we were pretty full by the end of it. Definitely recommend this place. Next time would love to try their pizzas.
I was initially introduced to Source by my roommate Emma and ever since I've been coming back all the time! All of their dishes are delicious and it's a great place to grab dinner with friends or even a boozy Sunday brunch. This hidden gem located near Harvard University has the best pizza I can find in Cambridge as well as a handful of tasty sides and trendy drinks all served by the kindest staff and owner Daniel. My favorite sides are definitely the brussels sprouts coated in an amazing caramel and miso glaze as well as their local honeynut squash. I wouldn't want to spend my Friday nights anywhere else unless I'm at Source sipping on my smoke that pineapple cocktail (it's a MUST that you need to try asap!).
The food was great! I had a lavender drink that was light and refreshing and a tropical calzone that was sweet and savory. I would definitely recommend ! The server was super sweet and helpful with questions on the menu and the place is very homey.
A wonderful experience. We had the burrata, rigatoni, celery root fries, and a couple craft beers. All very delicious. The wait staff were pleasant and attentive. We will definitely go back again soon.
Bartender was great (and funny!) service was impeccable and the food was tasty. Recommendations Food: Get the Creste Di Gallo 🍝 🐔 (we devoured it before taking a pic. Pasta was really great. A bit of a unique flavor, but the island life pizza was tasty too. Drinks: Lord Hobo white ale and the jacks abby amber lager were our favorites. Flip side: they tend to close the bar kinda early. Wraps up 45 minutes before closing.
Newly opened place in Cambridge. The atmosphere is really nice and relaxed, and the interior design is fantastic. I had the arancini and the Source Margherita - both were really good. Highly recommended!
First time and we will definitely be back. Not a huge space but most places in the city aren't. We have a 3 year old in a wheelchair so the space is important to us. There were about 8-10 low top tables. We were able to pull him up to the table and didn't have to feel like we were in anyone's way. We did find street parking ( on a Tuesday at 12p) but there's also a small paid lot right next to the restaurant. The soup special was a creamy cauliflower with truffle oil, crispy bacon and almonds on top. It was 11/10. I would drive back just for that! We ordered the Eddie special and the NYC pizza wood fired pizza, both were excellent and we had leftovers. The "smoke that pineapple" cocktail was also a favorite. Serve was quick and friendly and the bathroom was very clean and smelled nice.
JOAO was the best! Celebrated granny’s 81st birthday with the ladies and we couldn’t have felt more taken care of! Food amazing vibes amazing drinks amazing! Go go go!!!
Morgan made the experience wonderful. Creative brunch items and willing to adjust to your dietary restrictions. Make sure you ask for her when you go!!
Cesar was amazing! He recommended the whipped ricotta and brussle sprouts that were to die for. He was very attentive and gave us an incredible experience
The food was amazing and Morgan was a spectacular server!! So sweet and personable! I will definitely be back! And shoutout to Captain Haddock the host
Visited SOURCE for the first time last night before a show at the Sinclair, which is just down the street. We had the beef braciole, whipped ricotta, and a margherita pizza. Both appetizers were excellent, as was the pizza. The Neapolitan style pizza was big enough to split between two people, especially when ordering appetizers. Good sized drinks menu, and our server, Denis, was very attentive. We had a table for two by the windows and it was very comfortable seating. Recommend reservations as it a smaller restaurant with limited tables. When we booked with OpenTable, it was noted that there is a cancellation fee, if you cancelled less than 24 hours in advance. While this may seem like a bit much, this is a small restaurant that can't afford to have empty tables because of last minute no-shows. Very close to the Harvard Square Red Line station (maybe a 2 minute walk at most). We plan to come back when we go to the Sinclair next, but have added it to our list of restaurants for a night out when the mood strikes us.
Went to source for a monday night dinner. My friend and I wanted to try somewhere new and we sat at the bar with an awesome bartender Cesar. The food was amazing, Cesar made great recommendations and a great espresso martini. Very friendly guy, good vibes overall at Source!
We booked Source for our wedding rehearsal dinner, hosting ~50 guests. The management and staff at Source were tremendous in helping us plan food & drink menus and ensuring that everything ran smoothly the night of the event. They were very accommodating for guests with food allergies, offering customized meals in addition to the buffet options. The food and drinks were amazing, the staff was friendly, and all of our guests had a wonderful time. The pepperoni pizza is our personal favorite, and our guests loved the cookies! We would highly recommend Source for private events, in addition to their standard dining options.
I live on the other side of the country, but whenever I visit I have to eat here!! The vibe is nice, the service is fantastic, and the food is amazing. I recommend any of the salads, the whipped ricotta is a must, and the brussel sprouts are incredible. But the star of the show is the pizza. The pepperoni and the margherita specifically. I can’t recommend this place enough!
Cesar was great! food time was perfect, he recommended some craft cocktails and everything was great, he knew the menu inside out and even recommended some cocktails on our preference of liquor!!! definitely will come back!!!!
Any time I'm in Harvard Square at lunch time, I make my way to Source. You'll usually find Daniel at the podium with a friendly greeting and there is always a new and creative addition to menu. I recently tried their new Tennesee Chicken Sandwich. Fantastic! It was packed with flavor and the wood fired dough is awesome. The smoked cauliflower puree soup was a perfect flavor compliment to the sandwich!
The food and drinks were delicious. Perfect ambiance to catch up with a friend. João was our server and he was great—attentive, friendly, and gave awesome recommendations!
We attended a private gathering here and it was simply amazing. The food was phenomenal as were the staff on hand. I'd drive 50 minutes back to this place just for the brussel sprouts!
Food was absolutely delicious, definitely a 10/10. I ordered a drink called Tea Time, and it was extremely sour, so I’d give that a 2/10. Unfortunately, our waitress wasn’t very attentive, which took away from the experience.
The Source Restaurant is a western cuisine restaurant located in the heart of Harvard Square serving a wide range of dishes, but specializing in Neapolitan pizza. The ambiance is lit dimly, perfect for more intimate dinners such as date nights or celebrations. Highly recommend reservations, especially on the weekend. The service was great. The staff came over, answered any questions about the menu as well as presenting the food quickly and on time. We got a build your own pizza, which contained hot honey, pepperoni, and cheese. We also got a mocktail (guava no jito) as well as a salad. The salad was made well, with a light drizzle of dressing on it that didn't overwhelm the salad. The rest of the ingredients on the salad also worked well together with it. The mocktail was sweet, not too sour but blended well the flavors together. The pizza was a highlight. A bit smaller than we expected, but had a great flavor and cooked perfectly. One downside was that the cheese/toppings fell off a bit too easily on the pizza, making it hard to eat by just picking up.
We came here on a cold and rainy night. The meal was overall pretty nice. The appetizers were decent. The chicken parm sandwich was interesting and tasted good. The garlic knot bun did come a bit burnt, however, and was too hard to eat with the chicken cutlet. The meal also came with a steak knife, so it was clearly meant to be possibly eaten without the bun. It just felt that the bun was unnecessary and made it too hard to eat. The ravioli was very creamy and had a nice truffle flavor. The pizzas were very good, especially the pepperoni. It was sweet, rich, and coated with tons of pepperoni. The margarita pizza was good. What was a bit confusing was this restaurants two ‘different’ crusts. They charge different prices for what they consider 1) Neapolitan and 2) New York. When we ordered, the waiter advertised ‘upgrading’ to a New York style, and said that the Neapolitan would have to be eaten with a fork and knife for how thin it is, and that the New York style could be eaten normally. This was bizarre, advertising the New York option as ‘paying to be able to eat your pizza normally.’ After ordering both styles we were more confused, because when we got the pizzas, the crust had absolutely no difference, and didn’t seem to be either New York style or Neapolitan (for both pizzas). It was altogether very misleading. The staff here were friendly though, and the atmosphere was nice. It was very dark, and a bit hard to read the menus however. There were no hooks to hold jackets which was a little annoying. The food came out so fast, with the whole meal for 5 people coming out within 10 minutes- the fastest at any restaurant I’ve ever been to. I wish that the tables were wider, the high top we sat at was incredibly cramped for five people and the plates and pizza could barely fit on the table. Overall the quality of the food was really good, but there are a few things that could be improved.
Great place to enjoy brunch near Harvard square. After hearing about the famous pancakes from this place, my friends and I recently took a visit for brunch. Despite making the reservation in advance, we had to wait for more than 20 minutes, and the host was quite rude when we asked him about the wait time. Thankfully, service was great once seated. We ordered the hangover pizza, pide with smoked salmon, and the famous soufflé pancakes. Both the pizza and the pide had amazing crusts, and these were definitely one of the best brunch pizzas I’ve had in a while. Soufflé pancakes were good and extremely fluffy, but I was more impressed with their pizzas than the pancakes. Will definitely be back to try more of their pizzas.
Great place in downtown Cambridge! It's tucked away in Harvard square, behind the bookstore and just off campus. Most the crowd is townies, and it's got a lot of seating. Parking is tough to get, but there are street and lot options nearby. Of course, you can get there via the T pretty easily as well. We got seated quickly, and saw the menu having a mix of appetizers, drinks, salads, pastas, and pizzas. The duck appetizers are usually a big hit, and run out quickly. The arancini balls are ok - ours seemed a bit undercooked. The pizzas are good for 2-3 people, depending on your appetite. They come in a variety of flavors, and there are options to create your own with a host of toppings. Dessert dishes, particularly the key lime pie, were very good and quick to come after ordering. Prices are indicative of Harvard and the area that you're in, so be mindful. That said, it's well backed by speedy and thoughtful service. Overall, love coming back to source and hope to come by again soon!
This place has a modern, trendy vibe. It also has plenty of outdoor seating. The service was also great. We went there right before they closed their kitchen, but they still took a large order from us. The food however was so-so especially with the high price point. I ordered the chicken wings. They were not very flavorful and also a little dry. The other dish was alright. I feel like this is a place that you pay for the atmosphere and not for the taste. Three of us spent about $120 including tips. It's a place I would come once just for experience.
Source is pretty decent. We came here for brunch on a warm Saturday morning and everything was really solid. We ordered: - 2 iced coffees - 2 sides of 2 eggs ($6 each), 1 side of bacon ($4 each): eggs looked okay? The bacon was a little floppier than I would've liked—and I'm by no means a crispy or die kind of bacon eater—but it was perfectly tasty! - the souffle pancakes ($14 or so): great height on the 3 pancakes although the outside of the pancakes was a little crispy, not entirely in a bad way. Beautiful presentation, with fresh berries and confectioner's sugar and a literal goblet of maple syrup - the pizza dough donuts ($10 for 4 with sprinkles and vanilla / chocolate dipping sauce): really yummy, lightly fried and dusted with sugar. The chocolate sauce had a bit more depth and generally we preferred it to the vanilla - brussels sprouts side: beautiful preparation with crunch all the way through. The sauce was a little sweeter than I would've liked - salad: I forget the name of the vegetable but it was a sort of Chinese broccoli, prepared raw with a nice, tart dressing and well cooked oyster mushrooms and some pickles. It was very tasty for being so healthy and a nice contrast to everything else we ordered, lol. Total ended up being $90 pp after tax and tip for 3 people. Food was consistently tasty across the board with excellent presentation, balance, and service. A nice entrant to the Harvard Square dining scene; I can't wait to try the pizzas next!
Great pizza and a good menu to choose from. Would go back. Update: I went a second time and liked my meal better than the last. The snap pea salad and Tuscan kale pizza were both great.
Food and drinks are beyond delicious , service can be improved. We have been to many restaurants with our toddler but this restaurant had a few issues that can be improved 1. No kid friendly cups or bamboo straws. No crayons. 2. Waiters have no idea about menu or can really guide you about the food. 3. Really slow in attending. 4. No booster seats. I would not return with my toddler but with my friends, maybe!
My partner and I had our first time at this restaurant. The food was delicious, especially the ravioli and Brussels sprouts. The drinks were fantastic, I had the espresso martini and darkest hour (10/10). Our server Joao was incredibly friendly and attentive, which made our experience even better. We’re already planning to return to try other dishes and drinks ;)
The staff and service are excellent. Very attentive and very pleasing. I went for brunch so this is only for brunch menu. Ordered the blat and it was too bready that the filling seemed minimal. Ordered the potatoes - it was flying off our plates when we tried to poke it with a fork for how hard they were. We did order Margherita pizza and that for sure was good the rest idk.
This is a cozy spot tucked right next to the cemetery that sports industrial decor, warm lighting, and brick features. The main attraction is the pizza, which is Neapolitan (Italian) style, rather than American style. The pizzas will be smaller, have billowing crusts, and a unique blend of toppings. This is a great spot but a reservation is encouraged, as well as getting a few shared plates. Although the pizza is artisanal, it will be on the pricier side and the toppings don’t stay on once you dig into the pie.
We went for their 3 course dinner for Me & You Mondays after I came across a tiktok and thought not bad for $26. It’s something relatively new that they started according to the server. I’ll talk about the food before I get to the service…. My boyfriend and I split our 3 courses. Course 1: Whipped ricotta (10/10) Chopped Salad (9/10). Loved both! The whipped ricotta is a must. The bread is fresh and the fig&honey with the ricotta is just scrumptious. Course 2: Margherita pizza (6/10) and Tagliatelle Primavera (9/10). The tagliatelle is spicy which our server warned us when asked and she was definitely right. If you like a kick to your pasta, this was very good. Not a super big portion but would get it again. The pizza on the other hand I was extremely disappointed by especially hearing from people that their pizza is good. It tasted like it was tomato paste on the pizza… wouldn’t recommend. Course 3: Mango passion fruit cheesecake (6/10) and Tiramisu (2/10). The desserts are definitely not a highlight. I’ve had a good amount of tiramisu in my life and this ranks quite low on the list considering it tasted like just cream. The cheesecake was alright especially compared to the tiramisu. The food overall, 8/10. Lost points due to the lack luster dessert. If I were to come again, I don’t think I would do the courses as I could get an appetizer and entree for a similar price since the dessert was not worth it. What disappointed me the most was the service. It was a busy day and I think they weren’t prepared for the crowd that this promotion would give them (considering it’s fairly new). When we got seated outside (didn’t make a reservation), we didn’t get water until 10 minutes in. Our appetizers took a “normal” amount of time to get to us, as did the mains. However after we finished our main course, we asked for a water refill and didn’t get one for 30 minutes! We didn’t even see our waiter for a good duration of time to ask her. It also took our dessert 30 minutes to come out too (after they cleared our plates) which is quite a long time considering the dessert was probably prepared ahead of time. I eventually had to ask another waiter to get our water that was just a jug outside (I could have gotten up and filled it myself…) I had to go inside and ask our server for the check just to ensure we weren’t waiting another 20 minutes. It was pretty cold and they didn’t have heat lamps, only a few blankets that were all used up. Our server informed at the end that they were short staffed which I totally understand, it just would have been nice to know that at the beginning. Know that 20% gratuity is automatically added due to it being prefix. After course 1, we said we would want to come back especially if they rotate the prefix menu but after the service given, I’m not so sure about that. Just be prepared to eat for 20 minutes and be waiting for an hour.
Went for the restaurant week deal and honestly thought it was pretty mid. The app was the only part that I thought was decent. Its been a few weeks since I was there so I don't remember exactly what kind of fish each was but I remember the flavors/experience App was a seared tuna in a bun with a mango slaw. It was really tasty and made me excited to see what was to come. The fish entree was pretty flavorless and dry . The cheese cake desert with the mango popping boba was so sour and otherwise flavorless. Overall unimpressed
Was hoping to like this place more after seeing a few videos on instagram about the pizza. I would go again if I was already in the neighborhood but only for drinks and apps. The whipped ricotta was great but the pizza was not worth it to us. It was too sweet and bland in our opinion. I had my leftovers the next day and liked it better on the second day than in the restaurant. The staff was really nice and attentive though while we were there.
Had dinner here on a Saturday. Went in without a reservation at around 6pm and was able to get seated on a high chair by the window. We checked on Open table for a reservation, but we had issues booking a table despite seeing available times. We got the recommended brussel sprouts, which was sweeter than anticipated. The vegetarian pizza tasted alright, but didn't hit the spot. I expected the pizza to be on par with Si Cara in Central Square or Prairie Fire in Brookline, but was let down. Good thing it's off my list to try. Service and atmosphere was decent.
The food and service were very good, above average for this type of venue, overall. On the other hand once I had finished my meal I had to wait for what seemed like an awfully long time! It’s nice not to bev rushed of course but the endless wait did annoy me. Otherwise I recommend the place and will probably come back at some point.
Their prices don’t match the food quality. We order a pasta dish and the portion was very small, not even in Italy portions are that small, so don’t order the pasta if you are really hungry. We also order a pizza which was very soggy. I wanted to order a burger but didn’t because they don’t sell fries to go with it. Also, service was very slow and food took forever, not sure if they were short staffed that particular night or what happened. Keep in mind that you need to have a reservation if you want to be seated inside, or at least that’s what they told us. That was my first visit to this restaurant but I will not be coming back, there are too many and better options near by. My daughter and her Harvard class mates that were with us having dinner were also equally disappointed. I have to say the place inside looked very cozy and nicely decorated but we didn’t have a reservation so we were seated outside and it was a cold night and they don’t have outdoor heaters. We saw people with blankets when we were leaving, but they were not offered to us.
After seeing this place on multiple social media accounts, we had to pay source a visit and oh boy, will I never be looking at insta recommended places ever again!!! First things first, we had a vegetarian in our midst who does not eat egg either so his options were limited. He was pretty intrigued by the deconstructed grilled cheese but requested to have the egg taken off and was verrrry specific about it to the server. The food came with the egg literally on the bread and instead of pointing it out, we just moved it out of the plate cuz we were all super hungry. Their pizza? Sub par. Nothing to rave about. If anything, both pizzas had burnt crusts. I love some nicely roasted crusts but definitely not blackened. The drinks were $14 and perhaps the picture would show how tiny they were!!! Giving the place two stars only for the soufflé pancakes. They were the main reason we visited and they fit our expectations. But they gave us the pancakes before the pizza. So service is a thumbs down for me all the way. Absolutely not worth the hype. Please visit absolutely any other spot in Cambridge for brunch!!!
Food was very mediocre and expensive-pizza was floppy and sauce tasted a bit weird. They also threw on a 4% "kitchen appreciation" fee to the check. Vibe of the place is nice.
I was excited to this restaurant as the menu is well written, unfortunately, the particular pizza I ordered looked far better on paper which says to me this recipe needs an immediate u-turn back to the test kitchen for reformulation but in my consumer and foodie opinion, I say IXNAY. The pizza I ordered was the "Clam Chowdaahh" on a sourdough crust and like a reviewer below who's unfavorable review of the pizza evoked a triggered response from ownership, I found the taste of the pizza to be the worst I've ever consumed. I tried but just couldn't stomach it. It was insufferable. I ordered the pizza to go and by the time I reached home, the restaurant had just closed. So I called the restaurant as soon as they opened the following day and asked to speak to a manager regarding my dissatisfaction. I wanted to allow the establishment a cancel to reconcile because posting a review. The male that answered said he was the supervisor but that the overall restaurant manager would arrive in the late afternoon and would call me to resolve. I informed him to share with the restaurant manager that I retained the entire pizza outside of a couple of bites on a single slice so I'd be happy to drive the pizza back over once the restaurant manager was onsite. That call never came. The purchase date was Oct. 2, 2025.
We visited this establishment today at 3pm Place was essentially empty. We were seated, had waters poured by a waitress with zero personality. After sitting for ten minutes, and no service to our table, we got up and left.
