Fantastic food and service. Thank you so much!!
5 star all around. Actual *Authentic* Italian food. Can't go wrong with anything you get. Service was absolutely amazing. Might be a long wait but you can tell they put the genuine time and effort in their food. I'd recommend tiramisu and the affogato for desserts :).
Stumbled upon this place after 8pm on a Thursday and couldn’t be happier! Phillippo was an amazing server - everything came quickly and the food was fresh, not overdone with the flavors and sooooo good. Atmosphere was spot on, food was great, coffee was Italian Perfection. Loved it all
We stayed at a hotel nearby that recommended this restaurant, and we were so glad they did! We met Enzo and he was so hospitable, so warm, and made us feel so welcome in the restaurant! We had the Caprese for appetizer, entrees were the Rigatoni and then the Seabass-the Rigatoni sauce was the best sauce my husband and I have ever tasted and I loved the pork sausage in the sauce as well-the Seabass my husband said was so incredibly fresh and flavorful! And then dessert was Tiramisu and I don’t even like Tiramisu but I think it’s because I’ve never had it like Enzo’s! At Enzo’s it was incredible! Enzo’s personality was so special and really warmed the atmosphere. The patio was very cute, but we sat inside due to it being so cold outside. The fireplace was a nice touch on the inside and we’re thankful to be able to sit next to it:) thank you and would definitely love to go again when we are back in the area!
Are you interested in pure, unadulterated authentic Italian cuisine? This is the place in Carmel. Unassumingly wonderful, easy to miss. Don’t. I lived in Rome and Lucca for 7 years in my twenties. I’m 73 years old. This place is the real deal. Burn appetito!
A small authentic Italian restaurant, the food felt as if it was prepared by Nona Rosanna herself: absolutely delicious! Conveniently located near the Ocean Ave and not crowded with cozy indoor and patio sittings, this is our favorite restaurant in Carmel. Highly recommended!
Impeccable service and atmosphere. We walked in without a reservation and were welcomed in right away. Great wine list, reasonably priced. We had the branzino which was prepared with artichokes and shallots with a light sauce (very different, very delicious!) the Pistacio Mousse was a great dessert touch. Highly recommend!
Good food and indeed the back patio has great vibes as it’s quiet, relaxed, and enjoyable for a birthday dinner. Service was excellent and everyone was lovely. That said, it was also kind of hilarious how expensive everything turned out to be. The pasta of the day (fresh pasta with butter, mushrooms, and sausage) was $42 - rivaling the steak at $49 (a bit more expected). If we’d known, the price of the pasta of the day, we would have ordered differently. They also suggest pre-calculated tip options based on the total (not the subtotal), and the choices were 18%, 25%, and 50% - the latter of which gave us a good laugh. We were definitely taken for a ride, but at least it was a delicious one. I was a bit nervous going into this restaurant having read the reviews, and by the end of it, my husband pointed out that they were spot on.
I was craving some authentic Italian food and sure enough I found it here. The calamari and shrimp appetizer was delicately fried and perfectly seasoned (especially the shrimp). And the fettuccini bolognese was very delicious and felt like I was right back in Italy. Cool to see such an authentic place in the heart of Carmel.
This was my favorite meal in Carmel! Recommended by a local, the pasta was fresh and everything was so flavorful. We split the scallops, pesto gnocchi and the bolognese and it was all phenomenal. We ate early-probably before 5 and there were a couple other tables occupied. Everything came out fast and our waiter was attentive.
My third time back to Enzo, absolutely love this restaurant! The food quality is incredible, the flavors are authentic and will send you back to Italy. The wine selection is fantastic if you love Italian wines. The staff is so friendly and welcoming and treats you like family. Highly recommend Enzo for an amazing Italian meal!
We loved our experience at Enzo! Our server gave us great recommendations on wine and food - if you are sensitive you might not like their delivery but it is very much the Italian way to tell you what is best. They know what is best based on your dietary needs - we took their advice and all was amazing. The reviews that are salty about the menu saying “the customer is not always right” are lacking a sense of humour 😂 If you’ve been to Italy you know, the restaurant owners love to tell you what is best and how to eat or drink well. We loved our experience and can’t wait to go back
We were walking through Carmel and spotted Enzo after noticing the menu posted outside: lasagna listed as the first entrée and tiramisu on the dessert menu immediately drew us in. We’re so glad it did. Our first visit was a wonderful experience with Francesco, who brought such warmth and friendliness to the table. We enjoyed the scallop appetizer, lasagna, and the special of the day: a truly delicious tagliatelle truffle pasta. We finished with the tiramisu, which was perfectly made with classic ladyfingers and a very reasonable size to share. We loved it so much that we stopped back again on our drive home from visiting family in the Bay Area. On our second visit (all within a week), we had the eggplant parmesan, rigatoni Calabria, and the pistachio mousse. Once again, everything was excellent. We were also thrilled to see Francesco again! We really appreciated the friendly service, high-quality food, and the fact that we were able to walk in and be seated both times. Francesco’s warmth truly elevated the experience. His service really made our dining experience memorable. We visited around 11 a.m. the first time and right at noon the second, and watched the restaurant fill up quickly each day. Highly recommend Enzo Italian for excellent Italian food, especially the pasta.
Enzo: Tasty Food, Great Atmosphere We were in Carmel by the Sea with friends from abroad. We were hungry and needed a meal before embarking on our city excursion. Enzo was the first restaurant that caught our attention as it welcomed dogs and piqued our interest. We opted to sit in the small yet comfortable backyard, which was nicely arranged. The young man serving us was charming and always wore a smile. His great humor led to a few good laughs during our meal. I wasn't too hungry, so I ordered a Calabrese sandwich featuring Italian sausage, bell peppers, and Mozzarella cheese on Ciabatta bread. My significant other initially ordered an Artigiano sandwich with chicken breast, Mozzarella cheese, and grilled eggplants, but as she wasn't a fan of eggplants, she swapped the eggplant for something else (although I can't recall what). We each sampled half of the other's sandwich, allowing us to taste both flavors. Our friends went for pasta, and we all enjoyed cold Italian beers. I chose Menabrea Bionda, which was both cold and delicious. The sandwiches beat my expectations, particularly the quality of the bread. It made a significant difference in the overall flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed both half-sandwiches. It's worth noting that the Calabrese sandwich packs a spicy kick, so consider this if you're not a fan of medium spiciness. We spent more than an hour at the restaurant and wrapped up our meal with coffee drinks to energize us before leaving. For those on a tight budget, it's important to know that Enzo is not a budget-friendly option, and the pasta portions aren't particularly generous. However, the high quality of the food and service and the pleasant and relaxing atmosphere more than compensate for the prices.
I think the wine is overpriced. I think the food’s a bit overpriced too. Look at a few other menus around town And it looks that way to me. I thought the Osso Bucco was very good, especially if you like the mashed potatoes underneath instead of the polenta or risotto. The pizza had no taste. Surprised that an Italian restaurant charges for bread and a little bottle of olive oil.
This place is lousy. Lentil soup identical to the cheap mass diners. Arugula salad excellent. Lasagna terrible taste like canned sauce. Rigatoni/ burrata cheese was great. We liked our Salmon but the chicken was average. Tourist trap.
Service was ok, but the food was really bad. No real Italian would call that a pizza or pasta. Calling it a frozen pizza would be too much. I really suspect they put mayonaise in the champagne raviolisauce. Bad food is one thing, but they also try to up charge you with a lot of extra fees (e.g., 3% on credit card) which makes the feel of a scam complete. Highly discourage anyone going there.
I had a very disappointing experience at this Italian restaurant. The pizza tasted like a cheap frozen pizza, and the mussels were completely unacceptable — they smelled extremely strong and fishy, to the point that it was clear they were not fresh. We couldn’t even eat them. When we brought this to the manager’s attention, instead of listening or trying to resolve the issue, he became rude and unprofessional. He talked back to us, didn’t offer a replacement or refund, and showed no concern for food safety. When I mentioned possibly contacting the health department, he replied, “Call whoever you want,” and walked away with an attitude. That kind of response from management is shocking and completely unacceptable. It shows zero accountability or care for customers. The only positive thing I can say is that our waitress and the rest of the staff were kind and friendly — they did their best, but unfortunately the management ruined the entire experience. We will never be returning. Extremely poor food quality and even worse management.
We chose the restaurant hoping to eat some good authentic Italian food; however it was a true disappointment. As an Italian couple born and raised in Italy we know what fresh fish and good food should taste like. The fried calamari was definitely frozen and not fresh since it was very chewy. The seafood pasta was supposed have clams and shrimps but they told us they only had shrimps; However we could tell the spaghetti was precooked and not prepared fresh. Basically the cost of the meal compared to the quality of the food was definitely disproportioned. You can’t pay for an appetizers $33 and pasta $37 and be disappointed of the quality of the food. We live in San Diego and often eat out and know what good authentic Italian food should taste like. Please don’t sell your dining experience as authentic and upscale because it was definitely below average and budget food. The server was nice and did his job well.
