Lotus Chinese Restaurant in South Redondo is hands down the best Chinese food in the South Bay! 🥢 It was so good we actually ordered Uber Eats the very next week just to get more of those Wok-Stirred Garlic Noodles and the Orange Crispy Chicken. Kristina and I brought the family out and loved the service—plus, it’s a total hidden gem for sports fans since they have plenty of 85-inch TVs for whatever game is on. Highly recommend the Emperor's Beef if you want something with a kick! 🏀📺 #SouthBayEats #RedondoBeach #LotusChinese Must-Order Dishes at Lotus Wok-Stirred Garlic Noodles: This is their #1 most-liked dish. They are buttery, packed with fresh garlic, and usually the first thing people recommend. Orange Crispy Chicken: A classic, but theirs is known for being extra crispy and using high-quality white meat. Emperor’s Beef: Lightly battered, crispy thin slices of beef in a spicy plum sauce—it’s one of their signature "Chef Specials." Spicy Steamed Wontons: Often mentioned as the perfect appetizer to start the meal. Black Pepper Beef Mignon: For something a bit more upscale, this dish features tender chunks of beef wok-tossed in a rich roasted black pepper sauce.

This used to be a Peruvian and Chinese place. Now it's just Chinese and let me tell you, it is better this way. The food was excellent and the portions were share worthy. Kung pow chicken, Mongolian beef, garlic noodles, all excellent. The garlic wings were ok. Lots of stuff on top but not very flavorful. Edamame was good and flavorful. Salad was surprisingly delicious. Great dressing and fresh tasting. Soup was too flavorful, so strong that we could eat it. But that was the only bad thing. Everything else was great. Highly recommend this place. Lunch is especially a good deal, please don't change this.

The service was excellent. We arrived earlier than noon but the server seated us without any issue. We ordered calamari, xiao long bao, steamed buns, young chow fried rice and shrimp lo mein. The calamari seasoning was delicious however it was a bit tough chewy. The xiao long bao was average and we didn’t care for the steamed buns. The fried rice and lo mein were Delicious! The fried rice was flavorful and not soggy.

Located on PCH this gem is a place I’d go back to for both their food and their service. The decor is new and the interior very clean and well appointed. The floor plan is nice and there seems to be plenty of room for all. There are two sections to the restaurant so it would be great for a large family or party! The service is on point and very friendly. The servers know the menu and are more than happy to point out popular items and special dishes. They come back to the table frequently to make sure you have everything you need. The menu is a good size. Large enough to find your favorites, yet small enough you will not become too overwhelmed. The food comes out rather quickly and piping hot! The flavors are delicious and we were very happy with all our dishes! The portions are generous and the flavors distinct to each dish. Which is great because I hate ordering food that all tastes the same with different proteins. lol. You will not find that problem here at all. They offer a variety of sodas, beer, wine and saki to wash all the yumminess down. Items to take note of: *** There is parking in the back and an entrance in the back!

Excellent food! I do have the same comment as previous tho, they need to de-shell the salt & pepper shrimp. It's a pain to eat and the batter gets thrown away with the shell. Spicy garlic chicken is good, Black Pepper Beef Mignon is delicious! Tried the Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings, very nice but one wing still a bit under cooked so they were refunded. Would definitely come back again when in the area! They close at 9pm, kitchen closes by 830pm so get in there early.

I recently dined at this charming spot and was thoroughly impressed! The restaurant offers a variety of delicious vegan options that cater to all tastes. The warm and relaxed atmosphere made it the perfect place to unwind, and the lovely patio was a delightful setting for a meal, especially on a nice day right before sunset. Service was quick and courteous, with staff who were attentive without being intrusive. Whether you're vegan or just looking for a great place to eat, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit!

This was our first time at Lotus Chinese Restaurant and our party of 8 all enjoyed the food and experience. The ambiance is very nice and comfy. 2 Thumbs for excellent customer service! To top it off everything we ordered was delicious, so tasty. Its family style serving. We will definitely be returning.

My favorite dishes tonight are sweet and sour pork, honey shrimp, hong kong style lobster and garlic noodles. Restaurant is nice and clean, with good service. There are 11 of us, and they gave us a long table that fit is all.

Stopped in to newly opened Lotus Asian Grill (LAG) on Friday, two days after it opened. It now occupies the space where W’s used to be. The layout of the interior of the restaurant hasn’t changed much, but the bar in the back has been replaced by a long bench seat. The restaurant appears brighter inside than before. The service was excellent. The entire staff was friendly and efficient. They seemed genuinely interested in ensuring we had a good experience. My girlfriend ordered the Mongolian Beef and I decided to try the Kung Pao Chicken. We both upgraded to a full dinner and got Hot and Sour soup, a house salad and white rice. There was a small token charge for the upgrade. The soup and salad were both outstanding. The soup had a deep, rich flavor and the salad was crispy and refreshing. My girlfriend really enjoyed her beef dish. My Kung Pao came with asparagus and squash. Very tasty. Caution…….the red peppers in the dish were nuclear hot!!! The portions were more than ample and my girlfriend brought home enough of her beef to have for lunch. I would say they provide tasty, high-quality food at a good value price point. I recommend you give them a try ASAP before word gets out and they become swamped with diners!!! We will surely be going back again soon!!! Thanks Lotus Asian Grill!!

My wife and I have been in need of a new Chinese restaurant and we have finally found it. This restaurant is well worth the drive to Redondo to get some of the best food I have had in a long time. The service was prompt and courteous. The drinks came right away and they took our appetizer order at that time. The crab rangoons came out first and are some of the best I have had ever! We ordered quite a few items to sample and find our new favorites, also to be able to take home and share with our parents. Every dish was perfectly cooked and wonderfully seasoned. The portion size was very large which gave us plenty to share and to take home as well. The meat was all very tender and flavorful and the rice and noodles were perfect as well. I can't say enough good things about this place. We will now only be coming here for our Chinese food cravings, which is quite often. I should also not that it seems the menu is very extensive with all your favorite Chinese and Thai dishes and the hot sake was very tasty as well. Make sure to try this place when you get your next craving.

OMG!!! Took my wife there last night for her birthday! Wanted to try this place ever since W's closed down. Started with the Calamari. WOW! Crispy and delicious! BEST calamari I have ever had! The Hot and Sour soup, again, the BEST I have ever had. And the portions! My wife and I thought we might have two entrees. No way. The Calamari serving was huge, and the soup was a larger bowl than one would expect. Instead we ordered noodles, Vegetable Lo Mein, and their Black Pepper Beef Mignon. OMG!! I cook at home with Asian black pepper sauce, but theirs was a cut above. All of the flavor without the burn. My wife and I will be going back again and again, and bring all our friends. AWESOME!

After watching several Lotus ads, I made reservations. Lotus is one of several restaurants clustered together which made parking a challenge. We ordered combo lomein, shrimp in lobster sauce and sautéed vegetables. The food portions were plentiful and quite delicious.

This restaurant has amazing food, my wife and I could not believe the rating is what it is. Over 4 stars is still great, but this place deserves much more. Always consistent, and the staff here are great people. If you are looking for a great Chinese food restaurant in the South Bay, you found it!

I go here for the garlic noodles when I don't feel like making them myself. They are not afraid to use plenty of fresh garlic, which I think is great!

Service was okay. They were kinda in a hurry cos they were closing 1.5hrs after our arrival. Food was large in quantity, but all the protein- fish , beef, chicken were way too soft. I was beginning to doubt the beef was actual beef. It may just be the kinda things we ordered who knows?? Anyways, in summary it was okay but I’ll try other places before I go back here.

We got a flyer and was excited to try out this place. We ordered the food to go, the process was pretty efficient, though the food overall was ok. Everything was not bad but nothing to write home about.

While I didn't have great expectations for this restaurant, I did expect a little better than what we experienced. We ordered 3 dishes, two of which were so salty they were practically inedible. However, their mixed vegetables were amazingly good! Avoid the Chow Fun and Fried Rice dishes unless you REALLY like salt. Additionally, the Coke I ordered tasted weird so I changed (after first sip) to a beer, but I was still charged for the Coke at $3.50. Lame. Very much a feeling of "get in and get out" as I think, like many Chinese restaurants, they're very volume focused. Service was OK, but not a great environment. They need to improve their game.

I live nearby and was initially excited about the opening of Lotus Asian Grill, but after dining there twice, I'm hesitant to go back anytime soon. FOOD: I opted out of getting the fancy lobster/truffle/filet mignon dishes because I believe a great Pan-Asian restaurant should be able to nail traditional dishes. I also wanted to order dishes I would normally place considering my proximity to this location and I'm likely not going to be ordering take-out lobster once or twice a week. Here's my review of the dishes I ordered (in the order they were brought to the table). First visit (8/26/2023): Mapo Tofu (4/5): Tasty but not as spicy as requested. Mongolian Beef (4/5): Very good, but the dish was basically half onions Fried Calamari (2/5): They use large squid cut in big pieces so it was chewy; batter was thick so the calamari was overly oily; the sauce (ketchup+mayo?) was also heavy and didn't help cut the oiliness Pad Thai (5/5): Outstanding, generous portions of noodles and protein. I'd say one of the best in the area Braised String Beans (4/5): On par with similar dishes I've had; nice sweet soy flavor; string beans cooked perfectly Crispy Crabmeat Cream Cheese Wonton: Never served, removed from bill. Second visit (8/31/23): Salmon Carpaccio (3/5): Labeled as "carpaccio" but served room temperature instead of cold; didn't have microgreens but tasted good though. Crispy Honey Shrimp (2/5): Had high hopes for this - batter was soggy; nice sweet taste but the shrimp was suspiciously VERY salty leaving a bad finish Spicy Seafood Soup (2/5): Good except for overly salty shrimp. Just like the dish above, the shrimp tasted like they were sitting in a salt brine for so long that it penetrated throughout the protein. After biting into them, it altered the taste of the dish entirely Spicy Garlic Chicken (3/5): Not extra spicy, as requested; basic sweet-savory chicken dish with veggies. ***I actually ordered this after being told that the Spicy Peppercorn Fish Fillet and the Spicy Peppercorn Beef were no longer being served. I was advised that most spicy dishes kept getting sent back because guests said they were too spicy. This is a bummer since I am a fan of spicy [traditional Chinese] food. Crispy Crabmeat Cream Cheese Wonton (4/5): On par with similar dishes I've had. Garlic Brussel Sprouts: Never served, removed from the bill. SERVICE: Terrible service, wrong orders on both visits, server never checked on us, slow, and disorganized. Dishes were brought out one at a time in weird sequences and times where entrees came out before apps. It felt like there was no person in charge - servers and bussers were in chaos and always needed to be flagged down. For the level of class I believe Lotus is trying to portray, the service is bad, if not, one of the worst in the area. If not for their social media manager's (Daniela?) energy, I'd give it a "0." Yes, it was that bad. VERDICT: Lotus Asian Grill needs improvement. The food had some hits but was overall slightly underwhelming, and the service was exceptionally poor. I agree with a review on Yelp and don't know where all these 5-star reviews (Google/Yelp) are coming from because I heard so many similar complaints from other diners around me. I'll wait and see if things change before considering another return.
