A very nostalgic place. I had been here almost 20 years ago and don’t remember it having savoury foods, but now it does and the food is actually quite good! They do require an $19 (adult) and $15 (kids) minimum per person in your party, but if you each order a dessert or food item, you pretty much meet it. I would suggest that you order and share each plate as some of the dishes can be massive! The staff were attentive and accommodating. Especially Indigo at the front who was very professional and understanding when I was having an issue with my daughter who was having a meltdown at the time our name was called. Just note the place is small so any parties larger than 4 may be split up. I do like that you can make reservations online, helps with having to wait too long outside on a hot day! Glad I could enjoy the experience with my kids 20+ years later!
You and your kids will love this place! It’s a cute restaurant with a bunch of random decor that really adds a unique vibe. Upon entering, we were greeted and taken care of by very kind waiters throughout our dining experience. The food is definitely a bit pricier however, they are delicious. There’s a lot of hype over their desserts yet the food is just as great! The buffalo chicken sandwich and the frozen white chocolate is worth the try! Portion is also very large and filling so expect to take some left overs home. Everyone will have a great time here. From the food, to the service, all the way to the restaurant vibe, everything was a complete hit!
This is my first time to try out this restaurant here in New York. I was looking for some American food to have for lunch and I came across with this restaurant, even though they are famous to locals, I still haven't tried this one even though I always go here in New York. There were a lot of people when I went here and it was late lunch already but people are keep on coming and most of them have reservations. Good thing I was just alone so I was able to find a table for me. I tried their Buffalo Chicken with Blue Cheese and Truffle Parmesan Fries and it was good. Their place was your typical American Diner where they serve burgers, fries, float and sundaes but they usually put some twist on it and their servings are usually good for sharing. If you will be around New York City, make sure to drop by this restaurant and try their food.
Randy was an amazing server. He was so helpful and funny. Actually all the staff at this restaurant were so kind and very energetic. They really made us feel like family and took care of us. The manager Hadji was also very welcoming and made our visit special. I definitely recommend this location to everyone and the frozen hot chocolate is a MUST!
It's a tourist spot, lots of very sweet sugary desserts. I come here once every 10 years or so; normally, I'll then take the tram to go to Roosevelt Island. Service is always ready really energetic and attentive here. The food looks and smells so good! I took my friend to try the Frozen Chocolate here.
We went for a sweet 16th birthday. First i had to email them about a special seating situation, and request for our birthday teen. They were very fast to respond and accommodating. Then when we showed up for our reservation we were taken to our seats in 2min, even on a busy weekend evening, this was impressive! Our waiter was very fast and friendly! Now about the food! Soo worth the money, in quality, also in quantity. I got the Mac & cheese, its was cheesy and creamy, and thankful I had enough to bring home for another meal. As for the frozen hot chocolate… it is what everyone says. Gigantic and delicious!! I am not a fan of frozen hot chocolate but theirs changed my mind. The added dessert on top really was the topper to a great meal. I suggest when you go, be hungry!! These pictures don’t do the size justice. The other people in my party had hamburgers and the chicken sandwich. All were also impressive in size and taste.
A little expensive, but worth it! The food and dessert options are really cool, especially as a vegetarian I felt like I had a bunch to choose from. I went in as 1 person before the lunch rush without a reservation and they squeezed me in. I got a veggie burger with onion rings that were both delicious, but really large serving sizes. It was a particularly cold day so I couldn’t get the ice cream that they’re so famous for, but I got the peanut butter pie and it was really fantastic. It’s worth the trip just for that pie I swear. The service was outstanding, definitely a cool experience
Serendipity 3 was a great experience. It’s best to have a reservation because it’s a popular location; however, the service was fast and friendly once we were seated. The food was tasty. No doubt, the food is expensive. You’ll pay more for every type of food here than you would at most other places. However, you’re certainly paying for the experience, too. While the food was pricey, we were giving heaping proportions. We weren’t able to finish everything! Based on the quality, amount, and atmosphere, it was worth the price, and we’d likely return.
After seeing Serendipity (John Cusack and Kate Beckonsale) years ago, I have wanted to go to Serendipity 3. It is everything the movie depicts. The frozen hot chocolate was huge but so delicious I drank the whole thing even with a meal. I expected with such good dessert the food wouldn’t be great but we got the chicken tenders, fries, and Mac and cheese - fantastic! So fresh! Now we did have to wait about 45 min-1 hour wait, but we were expecting that. It isn’t a huge place and is well-known, so we were prepared to wait and let me tell you it was worth it. It will now be a must go every time we visit New York. Can’t wait to go when we have kids - the general store up front is so fun for kids (and adults) and the decor is so fun to stare at. Wish I had taken photos of our food!
I’m 46 and visit this location because my amazing girlfriend just adores the movie. I went to support her and she just loved it said it was just like the movie she had the frozen Hot chocolate like in the movie. It was everything she wanted ( it was huge and tasty) honesty it would have fed three hundred people. Pros: It’s just like the movie Staff was very kind we did not feel rushed Food taste great Food portions are massive We left with a lot of food Reservations were easier then expected and they text remind you to offer a latter time in our case which was really helpful for us. Deserts are over the top amazing Cons Price is higher than a normal meal I paid $85 for two meals and the hot chocolate I’ve cream. Recommended for: Movie lovers Guys with a girlfriend who loves the movie People who want to treat a special girl or lady Birthday girls
I have been wanting to come here for over 10 years. When my husband and I came over 10 years ago, it was so busy that we couldn’t get in. This time, I had a girls trip with my best friend, and made sure to make reservations two weeks in advance, specially the w 60th street, for the movie! At first, I was shocked at the prices of the meals… then, as we saw others food orders come out, it made sense. Great and large portions! Our server was Leslie, great gal! We ordered the truffle burger and fish tacos - and split it between the two of us. We added an up charge for truffle fries and wow… the food was so good- it blew us away! It definitely exceeded our expectations! We didn’t order any drinks or dessert because we were so full! Saw the table next to us order Mac and cheese and it was a good portion! It was hard not asking them if I could try a bite lol There were two separate birthdays and the staff brought out a cupcake for each (on separate occasions) and everyone sang happy birthday. Caleb was another server (not ours), but he was so genuinely nice! Kudos to Leslie and Caleb- they were great! We sat downstairs, but boy did we wish we sat upstairs! We took a peek upstairs on our way out and it is so darling! Definitely recommend! I don’t care that it’s a tourist spot, it was so worth it!
Amazing place, the decoration was interesting in a good way. I will come back and i do recommend it. I came back, I tried in December but no luck getting a table but came back in February with reservation and my sisters and nice and nephew love it, the Buffalo sandwich was a little salty for my taste buds but the truffle fries were delicious, we split a desert because the amount of food they gave us was a lot.
We had a large group on a holiday weekend, but we were treated like family. We had 4 young children and 4 adults. Some of us could not stay in our chairs ... myself included so the shop was just perfect for us. I think we will just do dessert next time, but holy smokes do I love this place. Hopefully we will be back for the Christmas decorations ☺️
I'd read about their famous frrrozen hot chocolate and wanted to try it. Crazy good!! Enough for 2 to 3 people to share. My husband enjoyed their burger and fries. Our server was fantastic and friendly. We walked in without a reservation and were seated immediately, but it was also a Monday afternoon. Definitely a place kids would love.
We went yesterday to celebrate our 3 year anniversary. I had never been here before so this was the sweetest surprise. The host was so welcoming and gave us a choice for upstairs dining or downstairs and let us see both before we made a decision. We chose downstairs and were seated near this big, beautiful clock. Our server, Randy, was absolutely the BEST EVER! He was so attentive, made great recommendations, and checked on us frequently. The food was delicious...from the potato skins, to the truffle burger, and the sundae...we we so impressed. The restaurant knew it was our anniversary and surprised us with two glasses of champagne which made us feel so special. The roaming photographer was a nice touch and we loved the picture used in the complimentary postcard so much, that we bought two others. It was a great evening and we thank the staff so much for making such a special night for us
The atmosphere was to die for from the street! It’s so charming and colorful and airy. And the food was amazing. I’m not sure how people managed to eat dinner AND dessert, but someday I will! We only did dessert this time but every time food walked by it looked and smelled amazing!! If only you could get ice cream to go. This will have to be a place to visit every time we’re in town.
We were able to quickly get a reservation and pop into Serendipity for a celebratory ice cream treat. The service was quick and friendly. The atmosphere was a bit loud, but to be expected for an ice cream parlor full of kids. The cute decorations made it feel special for kids! We loved the Selena Sundae and Frozen Hot Chocolate. Delish! The Root Beer float was also a hit with my kiddo.
I absolutely loved it here. I got the salad with grilled shrimp for my health and the vegan frozen hot chocolate for my soul. The food was great, the dessert was a show stopper, the service was friendly and the environment was fun. I'll be dreaming about the frozen hot chocolate for years to come. Disclaimer....the salad came with 5 shrimp, but only two are pictured 🙂
Absolutely amazing food and a fun atmosphere! We actually have reservations at the time's square location but showed up at the wrong location and the staff was so accommodating and were able to get us seated within 15 minutes. I highly recommend this particular location, you will not be disappointed!!
I truly find this place a must-visit in NYC! The Frozen Hot Chocolate is absolutely unforgettable — rich, creamy, and perfectly chocolatey. And knowing it’s the iconic spot from the movie Serendipity makes the experience feel even more magical. It’s one of those places that combines delicious treats with a little bit of movie romance and charm.
This place is a classic; I have such fond memories coming here as a kid. I got to spend some time with my amazing friend who has similar memories of this iconic restaurant when I visited today. The red velvet waffle and fried chicken did not disappoint. I will be back to keep building new memories.
One of our favorite stops in NYC. I will say i miss the traditional look. It’s all modern and it has lost its original feel. Still has great food and the absolute best deserts!! We got the frozen hot chocolate and the outrageous banana split. These are both shareable and FANTASTIC!! The server was very friendly too. Highly recommend!!
Absolutely worth the hype. Went here in November, made a reservation 2 weeks in advance and I'm glad I did because there was a huge line outside when I left. The food was soooo good! I had a frozen hot chocolate (obviously) and mac & cheese with bacon and it was delicious. The prices were very standard for NYC, and the vibe of the restaurant was pretty cool. Very colorful and vibrant. My only tiny bit of critique was that it really felt like they wanted to get me out of there asap. Maybe because I was dining alone, but they came by multiple times to ask if I wanted a to go container while I was still eating. Besides that, I definitely recommend this place! Loved it
Such a fun and unique treat if you’re going to experience New York! The atmosphere is one-of-a-kind, sure to make you feel like a kid again. Then throw in the over -the-top desserts and it’s hard not to have a good time here. And such a friendly staff! Randy greeted us at the door, making us feel incredibly welcome (not always a common experience in NY). Super grateful I finally got to experience this, it def lived up to the hype!
Fun place! I had been to a Serendipity 3 when one was in Las Vegas. 10 years later I was able to go to the one in New York. Dreaming about a treat for 10 years could result in disappointment but it was every bit as delicious as I remember. The restaurant is beautiful and fun inside and the service was terrific. You should go and enjoy the treats for me.
I made a stop at Serendipity 3 for lunch during a fun-filled day in the city (coming from CT). This was a very spontaneous choice, to be honest what made me schedule was the restaurant’s unique and vibrant aesthetic 🤭, it looked like a cute spot to go with my kids. We made a quick reservation, because its the city and I didn’t want to be waiting forever anywhere. Upon arriving, we were greeting by the staff, everyone was very warm and kind, we were sat at a table to wait which was nice and unexpected! The wait time was barely 5min before we were given a table -LOVE! The whole experience was very special, my kids (11&3) absolutely loved the atmosphere, my 3 yr old was given crayons to color while we waited. The frozen Sunday drinks are def a MUST for the kiddos, super delicious and the food itself is worth the price. Plate sizes are large and filling so if you have little ones, sharing may be a great option and also a way to save money. Overall, it was def a 10/10 ✨✨
What a great experience. I took my daughter for a 16th birthday meal. The food was lovely, the atmosphere and aesthetics beautiful and our server was great and very attentive. Definitely recommend. You must try their famous frozen hot chocolate!
The very first movie my wife and I watched together was Serendipity, so if course we had to go to the restaurant on our trip to NYC. The location is lovely, with a very unique decor. Our server, Randy, was very friendly to us and everyone else we saw him interact with. And the food was delicious. Be prepared, because the portions are as big as their comically large menus. We unfortunately didn't have any room for dessert afterwards, so we are planning on going back to try some of their frrrrozen treats.
Came here with kids before getting on the RI tramway. We tried their frozen mint hot chocolate. Kids had fun, cute place to take photos, clean restrooms. Service was attentive.
Definitely a 10 out of 10 that’s including the staff, the people, the food, the dessert and my experience there. First time going great experience definitely will come again! It was my birthday and my server along with other customers sang happy birthday to me it felt very nice :) Food and desserts are big portions so prepare to share; very fully. Would definitely like to try their tea party option next time.
My first time having the iconic frozen hot chocolate! 11 out of 10! This thing is fantastic. Thought maybe the chocolate would be too rich, but it was perfect. That whipped cream I think is homemade – the perfect fluff. I got it “to go” because I was pressed for time and it was phenomenal. And it slurped through the straw just fine. I went around 4 PM and it was BUSY.
I have been wanting to go hear since the movie Serendipity came out! It was on my bucket list and I am SO glad I got to go this trip to NYC. It was even more whimsical and fabulous than I imagined and the frozen hot chocolate was everything I had hoped it would be and more! I ordered the Thai salad and it was extremely fresh and delightful, huge portion with loads of flavor. My friend had a beautiful BLT that she loved and we both had the best time enjoying the brightly decorated room upstairs. We made a reservation and got seated quickly when we arrived. There is lots of fun stuff you can parooz around while you wait, all super colorful. I seriously can’t wait to go back!! The staff was so friendly, kind, attentive and efficient. I ordered what my girl recommended and had no regrets because it was SO yum! I appreciate y’all so much and the space is wonderful, enchanting and a party all at once!
Serendipity in NYC is such a fun and memorable experience! The decor alone sets the tone—playful, whimsical, and full of personality—making it feel like a true destination rather than just a restaurant. What really stood out, though, was how gluten-free friendly the menu is. There are plenty of options, and the staff is knowledgeable and accommodating, which makes dining there feel stress-free and inclusive. The service was excellent from start to finish—warm, attentive, and genuinely happy to help with menu questions or modifications. Add in the lively vibe, delicious food, and that signature Serendipity charm, and it’s easy to see why this place is so beloved. A must-visit whether you’re gluten-free or just looking for a joyful NYC dining experience!
We had the Buffalo Chicken Bites and Potato Skins as appetizers which were excellent. The kids sliders and Cheese Burger were amazing. We landed the desert dismount with the Peanut Butter Frozen Hot Chocolate, Can’t Say No Sunday, and the Kid’s Cake batter Scoop. We’ve been here multiple times over the past two decades and Serendipity 3 always delivers. Grateful for landmarks that we can share with our kids. Such a fund place for a multi-generational memories.
First off, I am extremely happy I made reservations because it was very busy on a Saturday afternoon. Understandably so. We loved the decor of the entire restaurant. Our server, Gio, was quick and attentive. My husband ordered the mac & cheese hot dog which he enjoyed. But the star of the show was the Italian stallion hotdog that I ordered. It was amazing. We also ordered the smores frozen hot chocolate. Also delicious. Perfect lunch spot for our weekend trip.
Oh my gosh what a beautiful interior!! Not only was the restaurant stunning, but the desserts did not come to play! I got the birthday cake, and I was absolutely floored at the size of it!! My mom got the banana split, and hers was equally as hearty. The sizes alone were certainly worth the price, but the taste took it to another level. Both of our desserts paired with their white hot chocolate was nothing short of incredible. Please please please book a reservation, and treat yourself to a delicious dessert at Serendipity 3’s!
This was very underwhelming and not worth $18 dollars, didn't even taste good. If I knew the hot chocolate would come out I wouldn't get it. But gratefully the management was super understanding and allowed us to take it off as we only had one sip of it. The server was extremely kind and professional I have no complaints regarding my service with him. The kids portion ice cream was perfect . I enjoyed the grandmas chicken sandwich was amazing I added cheese to mine. My kids enjoyed the grown up Mac and cheese the hostess explained the kids Mac cheese and regular menu Mac and cheese are different. So we got that one. We had a really good experience here and would definitely come back one of the main reasons I would come back was managements understanding and the server being kind.
Booking a reservation for this store was nothing short of a miracle. When we arrived, they had to make accommodations for the additional seating of two kids plus 6 adults. Please if you get the opportunity to book in advance do so. They get packed on a Sunday. Our waiter , Gio was exceptional. He knew the best recommendations for all of our dishes. He made sure the kids got there food first as they were the first to get antsy. All in all , with gigantic proportions we managed to take most of the food home. It was a birthday for my nephew and he stated "This is the best restaurant ever!" Success. In a way that's all we needed to hear. Adorable decor for the entire family.
We loved Serendipity!!! I made a reservation online about a week in advance, thank God I did. It was so busy! My husband and I and our 2 girls (ages 6 & 9) loved all our food and desserts! My husband got a bacon cheese hot dog and I got the truffle burger. Both amazing. We all had more fries than we could eat. We also got the frozen hot chocolate to share, and each daughter got 1 scoop of ice cream with a topping, which was also more than they could eat. Despite it being packed and needing a reservation, our food came out super quickly. I was really impressed by that. And our waiter, Leo, was SO friendly, which made the overall vibe amazing. We hope to be back next time we visit the city!!
Best time and our bartender was great! we are already on our second visit. The lavender haze was amazing.
I went in today to try the new Tyra banks ice cream. * warning * It's really hot, it burned my throat so I recommend waiting a little before enjoying

This place is good I like the ice cream my sever was great amazing place. I love the high up seats and my feet get to hang.
Outstanding service and drinks were very good.....I would recommend. We would definitely go back for dinner.
Awesome atmosphere. The sundaes are huge! Big portions. So many choices on the menu. Something for everyone. Can’t wait to come back.
Girls night out hit all the way. Cute. Fun. And lifts everyone’s spirits. We walked in and were lucky to get a table. I’d recommend making a reservation.

Still one of the best places to get dessert in the city. Best atmosphere for kids! So pretty since the Reno in 2020 and plenty of GF options for those with celiac.

We were seated quickly! This is a small but cute place. Right near central park. Our kids loved the ice cream. We also had chicken tenders and Nachos that were pretty good. There is an $18 (or so) minimum so I ordered something just to meet that as we only came for desserts for the kids. That was the only thing I didn't really like. It was a good one time experience!
Adorable place with cute/fun decor and great vibes. The vegan coconut frozen chocolate was amazing and everyone seemed to like their Mac and cheese. I got the vegan truffle Mac and was very disappointed. It tasted like Daiya, a cheap grocery store brand, and I barely finished any of it. Disappointed about that, but overall it was a great spot!
I visited this place on a Friday afternoon, walked in without a reservation and they were very accommodating. We had a vegan burger with onion rings, cauliflower and Mac and cheese. Burger was good, rest of them were just okay. Food is average and I wouldn’t go back for that price. Desserts are good. Frozen chocolate is one of the best I have had.
Was walking by and saw Serendipity. The family wanted to stop in for dessert and to try the frozen hot chocolate. The wait was over an hour because we didn't have a reservation. Ordered several of their cold drinks/ice creams. I was little disappointed some were items ordered were already starting to melt when they arrived.
it was a beautiful place! colorful and bright! the food was crazy and amazing! the frozen hot chocolate was definitely great!! i would definitely recommend! the only downside was that we got a reservation and they still made us wait for a table. for a none dessert food i will recommend the mac and cheese!
It is a very small place. The staircase is narrow so some may have difficulty walking up and down. I was sitting upstairs by the stairs and was run into a few times. The salad is a large size. The iconic frozen hot chocolate was good! I got the salted caramel one. It is good to try once but spending more than 20$ for one is a bit much to me. Two salads and two frozen hot chocolates came out to 90$ before tip.
I came here as I was a fan of the movie Serendipity. Food was decent, but came out extremely fast. Overall, I felt the food was a bit on the high side for what was actually received, but I can't complain about any of the items I had price aside. The truffle parmigiana fries were tasty, and the desserts were large and over the top.
We went here because it's famous, for me because of the movie with John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale so it was a nostalgic reason. Because it's New York city, the food was very expensive for what you get. The burgers weren't all that great for $28. The specialty hot chocolate or small like 8 oz each for 18 - $20. I understand the decor is called maximalist, the opposite of minimalist. We were there Violet hits snowed and was like 21°, trapsing around the city, but it was fun.
We stopped in Serendipity 3 for a quick snack and a glass of wine during a busy touring day. We were able to walk in and get a table for two. Service was great -- the only thing that was odd was we got our food before our wine. I am not sure what caused the delay on that -- but once we did get our wine everything was fine. We did the guacamole and chips and the boom boom shrimp. Both were great though -- the atmosphere is iconic and fun to be in and we enjoyed our time.
I never write reviews. It’s just not my thing but I was truly impressed with this restaurant. I’ll start by complaining that there was only a frozen vegan hot chocolate and not the classic beverage. We plan to go back to enjoy it over the summer, easy fix. The servers were all very friendly and helpful. The thing that stood out to me is that the staff is truly happy and they have very good relationships among themselves. When the servers brought food out for their table, the other servers went out of their way to ask if they needed help distributing the food to that table. Whenever the staff came out of the kitchen, they were either smiling or laughing. It’s important for staff to get along to better serve their guests and it shows that that’s exactly what goes on here. We’ll be going back, not only for the good food, but for the positive atmosphere. Thank you for making this a fun dining experience!
Personally I didn't love the food I ordered which was chicken waffle and boneless. But I saw more dishes around me that looked interesting and of course the huge desserts looked amazing. I might come back again to try those. The service was very good, super quick and super friendly waiters.
It was so filling, the staff were very nice, and I got a souveneir spoon with my frozen hot chocolate, which they are famous for. Everything was so overpriced. They had a Golden Opulence Sunday that cost freaking one thousand dollars! I would love to try it sometime, I just don't have that type of money. It was very good though. If you get the frozen hot chocolate, I recommend eating the hot chocolate part, the whipped cream is so thick and filling.

Great service. Boom boom shrimp was AWESOME but the chicken sundae we had was overcooked and kind of underwhelming.
Make reservations. Good food ,good service, good atmosphere for our family girls trip.

Great food & beautiful inside. Pretty fast service. Made a reservation, had to wait a little to be seated though. Keep in mind minimum $19 spend per person !
The ice cream and cakes were delicious but the staff left a lot to be desired. I was so looking forward to going, but the staff were rude and unfriendly. I wouldn't be going back in a hurry!!

Fun and cute decor, lots of space, nice staff, awesome desserts! The ice cream sundaes are crazy and cool with a massive selection!

Go in for an over the top dessert and don't expect fine dining. The ice cream was good and very large (two adults and two children shared one banana split). The fries were also a really big portion…
I struggled with this review because it’s sort of an expectation verse reality situation for me. I should have investigated a little more. The desserts are good and what I’d recommend. The food wasn’t the best and, for the price I wouldn’t want to go back for dinner. The service was really slow and that probably contributed to my perception of the food. They seem to be more into creating a club vibe then making great food and a fun atmosphere for kids. I guess that’s one of the expectations I had versus reality. I thought this was a kid-focused place. It’s sort of is a kid-focused place in how it’s decorated and the dessert items. The music they were playing was so loud that I couldn’t hear my wife talk to me across the table and I could barely hear my kids ask me questions when they were sitting right next to me. To give you an idea how loud it was one of my kids got so anxious and distraught about it that we had to go sit outside on the street for 10 minutes before we came back inside for a few minutes, just to finish up our desserts and pay so we could leave. They even had a photographer walking around, taking pictures of people at their tables, which is nice and all, but when that photographer is not paying attention and backs into my kid and knocks her on to the ground then we have a little bit of a problem. I guess I was just expecting a nice kid-focused quirky dessert place and what I got was a dance club with desserts.
Was a letdown after being so excited to try it. The service is awesome super friendly and welcoming. The so called world famous hot chocolate was overrated at $20 it's just melted chocolate ice cream with way more whipped topping than ice cream. Save ypur $20 for something else you'll be glad you did
I hadn’t been back in over a decade, but the family was in town, and wanted to check it out. We recently just sat through the namesake movie, and it felt more cramped somehow. The place was extremely crowded due to the holiday season, which made navigation difficult, but it still retained a sense of nostalgia. The frozen hot chocolate stands out as the only item on the menu that is worth ordering. Lines can be long, but the overall atmosphere captures the holiday spirit perfectly. Happy holidays to you, and your family.
Went here for my son’s 8th birthday. He enjoyed it. The food was expensive and not that good. There is a minimum $18 per adult and $14 per child which isn’t difficult to do. We ordered many options. My burger was drastically over cooked. The desserts are delicious but large for kids. I guess the atmosphere is photo worthy if you have good lightening. The service was ok. We did make a reservation as well. Bill with 5 people (2 adults) (3kids) was about $270 w tip.
The Tourist Trap We Knowingly Walk Into (Again and Again) Look, we’re not delusional. We know exactly what Serendipity 3 is: an overpriced, under-seasoned wonderland of Tiffany lamps and questionable food choices. And yet, here we are, year after year, dragging our little ones through that door like moths to a very expensive, very colorful flame. The food? Let’s just say if mediocrity had a flagship restaurant, this would be it. My burger arrived underseasoned (apparently salt is too avant-garde for them), and my spouse’s chicken dish could best be described as “aggressively forgettable.” The mac and cheese tastes like it came from a box—and not even the good box. It’s the culinary equivalent of elevator music: present, but nobody’s really paying attention. But here’s the thing about Serendipity: you don’t come for the food. You come for the experience. The kids’ eyes light up like Times Square itself when they walk into this whimsical explosion of colors and chaos. It’s basically Willy Wonka’s factory if Wonka gave up on quality control and just leaned into vibes. The decor is so wonderfully, unapologetically over-the-top that you can’t help but smile, even as you’re paying $20 for a hot chocolate (frozen or otherwise). And speaking of those desserts—they ARE divinely decadent, just as advertised. The Frrrozen Hot Chocolate (yes, with all those r’s) is legitimately delicious and actually tastes like hot chocolate, which is a neat little magic trick. The sundaes are towering monuments to excess that would make Guinness World Records blush. Sure, the ice cream itself is just… ice cream, but when it arrives at your table looking like it escaped from a Lisa Frank fever dream, who cares? So yes, we keep coming back. Not because the food is good (it’s not). Not because it’s a good value (it definitely isn’t—there’s even an $18.95 minimum per person). We come back because sometimes you need to pay tourist-trap prices for the privilege of watching your kids lose their minds over a sundae the size of their heads in a restaurant that looks like a fairy threw up in the best possible way. Three stars: one for the desserts, one for the atmosphere, and one for the memories we keep making despite our better judgment.
Nice place to experience at least once. The desserts are not good but not great. We wanted to order the $1000 dollar milkshake but were told we needed to oder at least 2 weeks in advance. I don't feel like that's entirely true, I feel like he thought we couldn't afford it, which was a bit offensive. We ended up ordering a milkshake that cost$100, which was not worth the money
This place would be great for kids and families. Prices are absolutely ridiculous though. Service was friendly. But tbh the frozen hot chocolate is just a chocolate frappe with whipped cream. Nothing special at all but can seeing it to be a good place to get out of the house and take your kids.
I wasn’t too excited about the $18.95 per customer minimum even though we were planning on spending more than that but I guess I get it can’t have somebody coming in just to have an ice cream cone and taking up valuable space… the cheesecake Sunday we got was absolutely delicious! We did not have a reservation, but was able to get a seat right away, but the people behind us weren’t so lucky I would definitely recommend getting a reservation!!! So I got a reservation this time, but I didn’t need one. I think the place is really falling off in the food has definitely went downhill, but the ice cream is still great.
Food and dessert were just ok. The staff and service were the highlight. Went here for my birthday and yes they charge an extra $3 for putting a candle on your dessert. However, I was able to be seated immediately even by showing up 30 mins early to my reservation.
I booked a table at the Serendipity 3 Upper East Side restaurant for dinner on my wife's actual 60th birthday this evening as we really enjoyed our last visit there 10 years ago for her 50th birthday. Although we arrived 20 minutes earlier than our 5:15pm slot that I'd booked online, we were shown to a table within a few minutes. There's very little space between tables in the very small & cramped restaurant, so don't expect any privacy as we could clearly hear and follow the conversations of the diners on both the tables either side of us. Our super friendly server Randy asked if we were at the restaurant for any special occasion and my wife told him it was her 60th birthday without realising I'd already put all this in the 'what's the occassion?' section of their online booking form. He also asked if we had any allergies, which again I had already said we had none in the 'Any allergies or restrictions?' section of their online booking form. So clearly the servers don't see or don't bother to read the information provided online by their customers, rendering it a complete waste of our time!!! The birthday girl had the American cheeseburger with fries, which was OK. I had the Grandma Holt's fried chicken sandwich with a pot of tea. The fried chicken was a bit dry, the bun was a bit stale and I found the fries to be a bit too salty. My wife was really looking forward to the superb peanut butter cheesecake dessert we enjoyed sooo much on our last visit. However, it was no longer on the menu so she had to settle for the Ultimate Creme Cheesecake, which came with side servings of hot fudge & strawberry sauce. Our fabulous server Randy put a candle on the top of my wife's cheesecake, lit it and encouraged everyone in the restaurant to sing happy birthday, which made her feel special. Whilst we were dining in the restaurant there were 4 other people celebrating their birthdays as well. There's a photographer at the restaurant now, who went around every table taking photographs of customers and returning later trying to sell commemorative prints, which I found a bit tacky and touristy - not something I'd expect at a high end restaurant. The decor in the restaurant looked very tired and we certainly didn't enjoy our meal there this time, compared to our exceptional experience 10 years ago. I feel sadly it's more of a tourist trap now, feeding off the embers of its former glory days, which have long gone. We didn't have any alcoholic drinks with our meal and I left feeling the $100 we spent there could have been better spent in one of the hundreds of exceptional restaurants in NYC for the special occasion of my wife's 60th birthday.
Cool place but the food was mid but that expected if you go to Time Square. Felt like the server kept forgetting about us, took my daughter for her birthday and the complimentary dessert was a cup of Whipped cream with sprinkles and the workers failing to tell us they were out of something. So I had to end up buying her actual ice cream, which I would’ve just did if they would’ve been upfront front about it In the first place.
I have a problem with sweetness. I like sweet but I don't like too sweet, so when I ordered the mint hot chocolate I thought it was going to taste minty which I like. Instead I got so much whipped cream that I couldn't take a sip and when I got to the chocolate it was way too sweet. I also tried the shortbread which was kind of stale and was just mediocre. When I finally got my grilled cheese a massive part of the cheese was burnt and the underside of it was soggy. The servers were super nice though. Overall I would say that this place focuses more on presentation than actual taste.
As most of the reviews already have stated, the food here is not anything to write home about (considering the pricing especially). I found the hot dog and fries were very salty and underwhelming. However, the frozen hot chocolate was indeed tasty and it’s clear why Serendipity is known for them! We tried both the red velvet (holiday menu) and the original. Overall very iconic spot with a really unique interior! Come for the frozen hot chocolates and vibes, not the food! Also service was decent, though at some point it felt like we were being rushed out despite it being emptier at that moment.

This is a no. We had sundaes- mine was peanut butter and fine. The ice cream was essentially melted before it hit the table. But the big issue is that my daughter was on her hands and knees sick within an hour of leaving. Turns out the chocolate cake is known for causing food poisoning. So $85 for two sundaes and a soft drink later she was scarily sick. It’s all over Reddit, so it’s on me for not doing research. Atmosphere is fine. Super hot inside and very overpriced. Look for a non tourist trap for good food, and there are desserts all over the place. If you want a photo op, go for it.
Food was mediocre at best. Everything on the menu is significantly overpriced for the quality of what you get, especially when we didn't finish 1/3 of our food because there ended up being a mouse running around our table. The star of our visit was our amazing server Gio! He was so friendly, served with a huge, warm smile, and was hustling the whole time. 10/10 recommend Gio!

Serendipity 3: Where Legendary Desserts Meet Whimsical Charm on Central Park South
Strolling through Central Park South, it’s easy to get swept up in the city’s grandeur. But if you’re looking for a spot that offers a delightful escape with a side of pure indulgence, you absolutely have to check out Serendipity 3. This place isn't just a restaurant; it’s an experience, a little slice of whimsical Americana that truly lives up to its name.My first impression, walking in, was that initial moment in a slightly darker entry, a brief pause at an unattended desk. Serendipity 3: A Sweet, Slightly Fiery Escape on Central Park South
Stepping into Serendipity 3 on Central Park South feels like entering a different world, a whimsical escape right in the heart of the city. My last visit, much like what I've heard from fellow diners, began with a moment of quiet contemplation. The entry has a slightly darker, almost mysterious vibe, but don't let that fool you – the place is impeccably clean and remarkably calm, a true oasis. There might be a brief moment at the front desk, a little unattended, but rest assured, the staff is
