Avis sur Cassons Chichester
My partner and I celebrated our anniversary at Cassons, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a lovely anniversary celebratory note at the table and little gift. The food was, quite simply, exquisite. Every dish was clearly prepared with immense care and passion. We particularly enjoyed the pan-seared scallops with sriracha beurre blanc and the beautiful Iberian pork pluma. To top it off, the quartet selection of desserts were incredible. Unfortunately we didn't try the wine selection, but if it's anything like the food then you'll be in for a treat. The service was impeccable. Attentive without being intrusive, the staff made us feel incredibly special, ensuring our evening was perfect. Cassons truly made our anniversary celebration memorable. We left feeling incredibly impressed. If you're looking for a dining experience that combines exceptional food, wonderful ambiance, and top-notch service, look no further than Cassons. We can't wait to return!
Came to Chichester to visit friends and they (thankfully) booked at Cassons! Greeted by very friendly staff and taken to a table in the corner, the restaurant was busy but we didn't feel crammed in and the noise was at a perfect level. We ordered the Sancerre which was beautiful...and had to order another!! The goats cheese was amazing and confess to using my finger at the end to get as much as possible haha! My main course was the mixed fish and could have happily eaten that twice!!! The only thing I wasn't so keen on was the mixed dessert, there was nothing wrong with it but wished I had gone for the Peach Mousse, heavenly!
Incredible food, friendly staff and great value for money. I will be going back every time I’m near the area and can’t recommend it highly enough
This is a very good restaurant. Excellent cooking. Beautifully presented & the product of a lot of talented work. A warm atmosphere. A good wine list, with a selection of house wines at £35 - the rioja was lovely. Far & away the best cooking within a five mile radius of Chichester. Bizarre that it is not in the Good Food Guide.
The staff were attentive and generous, they looked after my 2 year old son impeccably. The food was absolutely delicious, some of the best I've ever tasted. Well worth a visit
Cass,Viv and the waiting staff combined to make our visits fantastic evening. I'd mentioned on the booking form it was my wife's birthday, and the team marked the occasion with a selection box of chocolates to take away, and a beautifully decorated dessert plate with candle and birthday wishes piped in chocolate - both beautiful touches. And the food...was absolutely exquisite. Beautifully presented, with generous portions considering it was fine dining. The flavours were incredible...I had the pork for mains which was superb, my wife had the venison and that was fantastic too.
My only slight criticism is that the place could do with a little redecorating but I imagine after the last couple of years that expenditure isn't a high priority. I can get over that as the food was fantastic. For the quality of food, prices were very reasonable. Would highly recommend the pork main and the peach dessert. We had such a great evening of eating with some lovely wine. We will definitely be back!
On the outskirts of chichester this is a must go dinning experience. There are some amazing dishes being turned out of the kitchen with attentive professional service at front of house . I would say the best restaurant in and around the chichester area and at £42 for 3 courses per head is great value for fine dining.
Myself and my partner went here for our anniversary dinner.. (the first time we've managed to because of his job) neither of us really knew what to expect. It's top reviewed on Google however their website is so old looking it makes you question the quality... However, huge however, once we got there we were greeted with smiles and kindness. The staff were lovely and friendly. The food is utterly amazing (I fully recommend quail breast) top marks to the chef and fellow staff. When they found out it was our anniversary they gifted us some chocolates, a lovely sentiment. Thank you. Hope to go back again
We had a lovely dinner at Cassons. The food was spectacular. It was my birthday and they prepared a special dessert for me. I highly recommend. We will dine with them again.
Came for family celebration on a Sunday Lunch. Lovely food from the different starters (Selsey Crab, Scallops, Asparagus, Soups) to the traditional Sunday Roast options, Duck and Fish dishes. Tarte Tatin was well received, Sorbets were fresh, Delice was beautifully constructed. Staff looked after the younger members of our party really well. Thanks to all for a lovely lunch.
Whilst the outside is rather inauspicious, sitting as it does by a busy bypass, inside this is a fantastic restaurant. The service is friendly and welcoming, and the food is some of the best I've eaten and at a great price. Everything on the plate - from first course to dessert - was meant to be there and added to the dish. The plum sauce on the pork was particularly delicious. Highly recommended.
It was absolutely excellent, original, well presented and packed with great flavours. We felt welcomed and enjoyed a great service in a relaxed atmosphere. The chef visit was the sherry on the cake!
Our thanks once again to Cass and Viv for another fantastic lunch. On this occasion it was a party of 12 to celebrate my 90th birthday and the food, the service, the table arrangement, everything, was absolutely perfect, but then it always is at Cassons. I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone who is looking for that special quality meal.
We had the most amazing evening. Food is absolutely delicious and presentation is just amazing. Service was great too, we will definitely be coming back.
Amazing food and brilliant staff. Had a really lovely birthday evening at Cassons, the food was superb and the staff were very friendly and put you at ease. Great food menu options, along with an extensive wine list. We were very impressed with the skill and craftsmanship put into every dish, including the spectacular looking cheesecake dessert which tasted as good as it looked! We will definitely be back to try out the other dishes on the menu. 10/10 must visit. Thank you Cassons!
Great resturant. Expensive but worth it for a good birthday celebration or similar.
Had a lovely birthday meal here last night. Beautiful food, and a relaxing atmosphere. The staff were wonderful and attentive, the gifted birthday chocolates were a thoughtful touch. Thank you.
Outstanding meal. We had 2 courses for£33.50 each plus £3 supplement for my wife,'s scallops. My wife had Barbary duck and I had roe deer. Brilliant meal. Great sauces with both meals. I rate myself as a reasonable cook. But this was at least 1 Michelin star, if not 2! Best restaurant in the area without doubt.
Best restaurant in Chichester, possibly West Sussex!
Wonderful place…. Our family visited last week, for the 1st time, on the occasion of my wife’s 60th birthday. Every last thing we ate that night was outstanding. Beautiful subtle flavours with interesting ingredients in every course. Presentation was a work of art. Service was discreet but timely & cheery. We will be back for sure…! Thank you to all the team, especially Viv, our chef. :)
Booked for our wedding anniversary. Wonderful food and great service. Highly recommended. We were made to feel very special. Thank you.
Incredible. The food and the staff were outstanding. We went as a group of seven so I got to taste everyone's meals and they were all delicious. The staff were full of banter and the perfect level of attentive. The wine was excellent.
Really delicious Sunday lunch. The set menu features roasts and also dishes from their a la carte menu making it very good value indeed. Excellent service in a very old oak beamed building of great charm. Our only issue was that it is not easy to find - satnav told us "you have arrived at your destination" but we couldn't see it. For your information it is a couple of hundred yards from the Esso station travelling west on the A27, stay on the small slip road...Even if you do have trouble finding it, believe me, it is worth the effort! We shall return.
My husband, son and I very much enjoyed the fish tasting menu last night at Cassons. An 8 course exquisite menu of delicate flavours and surprises. Viv the chef has so much talent which easily rivals the professionals in the ‘great British menu’ ! One criticism which is very small is, I would have liked some background music especially at the beginning of the evening. Once the wine flows it isn’t so important. I would also have liked Viv to come out of the kitchen to take a bow to see how we truly appreciated the skill and effort involved!
A great little find. My parents recommended dining at Cassons when visiting Chichester. The location wasn’t quite as expected but the food was spectacular and definitely deserving of a Michelin star. Also great value in my personal opinion. I’ve paid far more for far less in other restaurants! I’m sure to visit again.
Don't let the exterior fool you. This is really good, high quality food at a good price. The outside is a bit disconcerting as its a bit overgrown and on the side of the A27, and inside could do with a little touch up. But the food makes up for it and the staff are friendly. The served an amuse bouche before we had starters of mackerel and scallops, bit cooked perfectly, and mains of quail and halibut. The fish was particularly excellent, cooked perfectly to flake apart. Do give it a try, the michelin guide stickers are more than deserved and they have an extensive wine list.
Great food wonderful owner We booked to visit at the end of our weekend away. The venue is in an interesting location (we missed it the first time) but rang the venue and found we were 300 yards away! Sunday is according to the owner not his favourite menu as it restricts them a little. I started with a superb terrine. Main was a beautifully cooked duck with a lovely jus, my partner was equally impressed with her pork. Dessert was quite sensational All dishes are presented superbly with real attention to detail. Extra kudos to the owner who does his job with real humour and care. He and his wife are clearly committed to the business and it shows in everything they do. He was a pleasure to chat to after the meal. Well worth the visit Toilets small, but clean and functional.
Had another wonderful meal in Cassons. Superb food quality and friendly service
Kind, friendly, attentive staff. Relaxed atmosphere and the food was divine. Great selection of wines on offer too.
Booked with trip advisor reviews having never been in the area. Unassuming building just off A27. However everything from there on is just fantastic. Good quality is right up there with some of the best restaurants. Limited a la carte and would love to have tried the tasting menu that day (n/a) but all courses prepared well, full of flavour and colour. Great job and very reasonably priced when you consider the quality.
Such a lovely place - food was great and their wine list exceptional. Stuff was very polite but also friendly - it was lovely to see the rapport they had with some of the customers, showing that few of them were regulars. A great Sunday meal!
Only a 4 for atmosphere as very quiet, but think just time of year as lots of firework and Halloween events on. Food was lovely, though duck a touch bland. Overall very good and will definitely go back. Staff were all lovely.
Tried Cassons for a family get together on a Sunday lunchtime. Has a nice, cosy, country pub feel to it. Staff are friendly, courteous and professional. The food is very good, the roast beef that I had for my main was cooked to perfection and the red wine jus that it was served with was absolutely delicious! Prices are reasonable but commensurate with the quality of the ingredients and the preparation. Only deducting a point because the portion sizes of the appetisers were ridiculously small. Yes, I’m aware it’s the done thing to serve small portions on large plates with a smear of whatever sauce goes with the dish, but play to your strengths. The flavours of the various starters that our party ordered were all very good so make the portion sizes a little more reasonable so that people may properly enjoy them. This aside, highly recommended
Not easy to find but worth the visit. This is a high end restaurant with superb presentation and excellent food. Service was prompt but unobtrusive and the table was ours for the evening. A nice selection of French wines are offered too. Recommend for an enjoyable evening for a couple or foursome.
This is a Micheline Star Restaurant. It's nice. And quite costly. £180 for 3. My steak was good. Not amazing but good. My Mum (who was celebrating her 70th birthday) had the duck and it was very tough. My vegetarian wife said her food was OK but there was only one V option per course. But the venue is good. Nice atmosphere. Wine is nice and the service excellent. Can't help but think we just got a bit unlucky with the duck.
If you're a foodie well you won't be disappointed !! Absolutely gorgeous well presented and scrumptious. However, if you're looking for the whole restaurant experience from entering to leaving, that's where improvements are needed, outside the reception is very tired, the reception area as a whole is like stepping back in time to 90's, the decor, the tables and chairs all need revamping, with a more cozy, relaxed, uncramped, airy experience. Will we go back again? No, unless front of house is changed..
Honestly, one of the most disappointing meals I’ve had. Everything was bland, even the black garlic salt. Nothing was seasoned, there wasn’t any flavour in anything. It’s really not over exaggeration. The place smells like damp, there are cobwebs and marks on all the walls. The crowd on a Friday night at 8pm was generously elderly. Do not recommend. The presentation was excellent, but unfortunately you don’t eat with your eyes. You’ll have a better time at kfc down the road where at least they use salt.
