Enjoyed a great private wine pairing evening at Sandbar some years ago. The food was wonderful, as were the wines that accompanied dishes. We've been back numerous times since, and it keeps getting better. Their Whalebone cocktail, with grapefruit juice and gin, is a favorite. The appetizers are delightful and we never tire of their Duck Tacos or Sandbar Salad. They just added Crab Cakes and an Octopus dish- both great additions. We also tried two new entrees, Soy Glazed Cod and Frutti di Mare with linguini, and both were terrific. If you have room for dessert, try their Tres Leches. A charming venue with comfortable seats and great service. We will be back!

Some people writing reviews, have probably never worked in the food industry in their life, and was disgruntled that they were not waited on hand and foot as well, as being frustrated, when the waiter did not drop what they were doing to assist them immediately. I recently went there with my husband for dinner, and I was shocked at how some of the guests treated the staff. I do understand that people are hungry and want to get their food immediately, but when it is busy, the staff does their best to try to get everyone served and satisfied. We got the sandbar cheeseburger and the salmon, and it was cooked to perfection. When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted with a smile from the lovely hostess. The servers were kind and accommodating, as well as the manager. James, who was very friendly. Overall, my experience was excellent. Keep up the great work!

Fabulous experience! Edwin our waiter was super friendly and en pointe. Swordfish was noisy and delicious. Tres leches and crème brûlée was out of this world. Beautiful space and great location! We will be back!

My family and I have been here several times! We love the food, service and ambiance! I planned to have my son’s confirmation dinner there and once again they were great! James helped me with selecting items from their main menu. We had a special menu that day which included a choice of three appetizers, three entrees and three desserts plus coffee, tea and soda. Danny was the manager the day we arrived. The service was great and the people there are very nice! We’ll definitely be back.

I went for lunch with my family. We ordered the seafood tower, salads, peas fries were fun, tacos were great, shrimp and grits were ok shrimp was overdone. Desserts were the right size and tasteful. The service was on point very attentive. Beautiful atmosphere.

I just used the private room at the Sandbar for my mother's surprise birthday party and can't say enough wonderful things about my experience. They worked with me to create the perfect menu where everyone was raving about the food. I was able to decorate the room exactly how I wanted it and they even provided a birthday message to my mother on the menu. Check out the pictures. The women had such a great time that many of them were supposed to leave to attend another party commitment but ended up staying to the end. The staff was incredible, accommodating and made this process as easy as possible. It was a group of 17 women and a fantastic experience. I recommend them for private events and would definitely use The Sandbar again. Thank you!

A wonderful spot in the heart of Cold Spring Harbor. Aesthetically pleasing and comfortable. Just a really nice atmosphere. The entire staff was very nice.. Our waiter Alex was excellent and very helpful. The manager Jim came over and also checked in to ensure we were satisfied. Good guys! As for the food. The oysters and grilled octopus salad both were delicious. The cocktail list was very interesting. We went with the Baked Apple Old Fashioned. It was tremendous! I would go back just to have a couple more of these fantastic drinks! A great find.....looking forward to my next visit!

The Sandbar almost hits perfection. With its amazing food, the restaurant comes so close. I'll definitely go again. It's one of my new favorites. No need to ask people to write five-star reviews to combat mine. I really do like the restaurant. However, there are only a few simple but obvious fixes that will make all the difference and put this place over the top. 1. The hostess must learn how to do a proper seating. Never, ever, should she stack a waiter/waitress' area before moving on to filling up the next server's tables. Spread out the customers evenly as they arrive, otherwise the waiters and waitresses become slammed with work while the other staffers sit by empty handed. It therefore becomes impossible for customers to receive adequate attention because there's no time for it. 2. Never, ever, ever, ever should a server bring only some of the dishes to the table. It's unprofessional and forces an entire table to wait to begin until the other dishes arrive. If an additional hire is needed to help deliver meals to a table, it will be a great investment. There's another job that the additional hire can do, which will be outlined in #4 below. 3. If a server has a question about a customer's age with specific regard to alcohol, ask. In this case it was the manager JOSEPH who didn't bother asking and refused to fill my daughter's glass. He filled everyone's glasses and ignored the one person -- my daughter -- who he was unsure of. To add insult to injury, he spent the rest of the service walking around our table with resting grump face. And not for nothing JOSEPH, watch the way you speak to your waitresses. Making them cry isn't a good look. 4. Have someone go from table to table checking to see if their wine glasses need refilling or if they want another drink should their's be finished. A customer shouldn't have to pour the wine themselves or flag a server to get another pour from the bottle. 5. Find a way to make the young woman who clears the plates happy. She was in a mood the entire time we were there. Although she may not be a server, even her attitude can impact the dining experience. ========================================== In the establishment's response, appeared the statement: "Please contact us ...if there's anything we can do better." You mean other than the five points listed above?🙄

It was basically a nice experience but they don't pay attention to the details in your reservation. I specifically mentioned it was a birthday celebration and nothing was mentioned the entire evening. Most places will give you a complimentary small token dessert to commemorate the occasion but nothing was ever said. Other than that it was okay. Service was friendly and fast. They let us have time to decide on what we wanted and the courses were brought out very spaced out. First we ordered two drinks. I got the figgy old fashioned which was really good and my girlfriend got a special martini. Sorry I forgot the name. They brought out the drinks which were very well made. For an appetizer we ordered half dozen raw clams on a half shell and the avocado toast with burrata. Both were excellent. The avocado toast is very tasty but pricey for what you got. $20. The raw clams on the half shell were extremely fresh and pleasantly presented with fresh shaved horseradish cocktail sauce lemon and a wine vinaigrette, that was $15. They brought us out bread before the mea;l one slice each and never asked if we wanted more. The butter for the bread was frozen solid and we needed a jackhammer to separate it and we had to wait quite some time to spread it on the bread. Main course, my girlfriend ordered the Berkshire pork chop which was excellent and cooked perfectly. I ordered the filet mignon kabobs over orzo. I really don't think it was filet mignon because not only did it not taste like filet mignon but it was tough and grizzly. Quite disappointing. We didn't order dessert because frankly we didn't want anymore. The bill came to $230 with tip. Overall not worth it. We chose this place because there was an article on the internet that name it one of the top 10 romantic restaurants on Long Island. The Ambiance was nice but it really wasn't that romantic. Won't be going back.

I’ve dined here several times and the food has always been very good. Unfortunately, the reservation system and service have recently been disappointing. I made a reservation through OpenTable and when I arrived I was told the kitchen had already closed. This was frustrating, especially since the reservation was accepted and I drove a fair distance to get there. On at least three other occasions when I made reservations after 9pm, I received calls asking if I could come earlier because they wanted to close early. If the restaurant does not intend to seat guests past a certain time, they should adjust or disable those reservation slots on OpenTable. It’s disappointing to plan a visit and arrive only to be turned away despite having a confirmed reservation. The food here has always been good, but the reservation setup and recent service issues need improvement.

After a morning hike, we decided to stop by Sandbar in Cold Spring Harbor for brunch, and it was a delightful choice! We were quickly seated in the outdoor area, which was perfect for enjoying the beautiful day. We started with the chickpea frites as an appetizer, paired with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc for me and "The Sound" cocktail for him—both were excellent. For lunch, we shared the chicken and steak sandwiches, each served with fries. The food was good, and the relaxed outdoor setting made it even better. Overall, a very nice spot to unwind after a hike.
