The flavors were bold and vibrant, with dishes that truly captured the essence of Thai street food. I tried their pad thai, and it was absolutely delicious—perfectly stir-fried noodles with the right balance of sweet, salty, and spicy. The green curry was equally impressive, rich and creamy with just the right amount of heat.
Some of the best thai food I’ve had inn Texas! Friendly staff, great food, if you ever are in the farmers market area, check this place out. Went here for a late lunch and both my wife and I had a great time ❤️ try some dumplings, the pad thai, or both! Wish we lived closer so we could visit again. A true gem!
Good counter service style Thai place. Concise menu with some fun APAC chip flavors available too. Lots of chicken dishes and vegan options. I enjoyed the pad ka prow and dumplings. Good, if slightly under seasoned. Tables have additional seasonings available tho. Want to come back for the seafood pancake.
The food was so good I came here twice in one weekend!!! My niece had been eyeing this place for awhile and I'm so glad she chose this place for her birthday dinner. I got the crab fried rice which comes spicy. The crab was perfectly cooked and the rice was amazing. They top it with scrambled eggs. I paired it with a glass of red wine. They have white wine and beer as well. My niece got the shrimp pad Thai and it was also really good!! She had the purple tea which was a little too sweet for me but she liked it. The second time I came I ordered the crab fried rice again (creature of habit here ). But I also got the dumplings which were delicious!!! You order at the front then get seated. It's a small location in the middle of downtown dallas near the farmers market. Very cute indoor seating. They have patio seating as well. Free parking is available in a nearby parking garage because who likes to actually park in downtown dallas. Not me! Will definitely hit this place up again!!!
FOOD IG: @northtx.gemz 🍒WHAT THEY’RE KNOWN FOR: a hidden gem I found out through @eatwithalysa! A quick bite to have when walking around the Dallas Farmers Market. 🍒WHAT I ORDERED: • Tom Kha Gai (Chicken Coconut Soup) • Knom Jeeb (Pork & Shrimp Dumplings) 🍒 PRICE: $21.11 + $3 tip 🍒 THE VIBE: casual open seating. Very clean which is something I definitely account for because I know it’s a lot of effort to keep a restaurant clean. 🍒 WOULD I COME BACK? Yes. •••• Overall Rating: 10/10 - Definitely a solid and delicious Thai food place that you can just pop in at any time and grab a quick bite. One of the first things I noticed is that the restaurant was very organized and tidy, including the restroom! - I’ve never had these two Thai dishes but wanted to try them and I was pleasantly surprised. The dumplings were scrumptious and I believe had water chestnuts so they had a slight crunch but the meat was the right amount of chewiness and the soy garlic sauce on the bottom of the dumplings was so flavorful. - The coconut soup was amazing!!!! Not sweet at all and the coconut flavor was very subtle. I asked for a side of rice it usually doesn’t come with it but honestly the soup would’ve been even better without the rice because it takes away from the depth of flavor. - I believe at this Thai restaurant you just adjust the spice level to your liking because there were 3 types of spice on each table you could add to your dishes. I decided to add some chili paste/oil and flakes to each of the dishes and it was perfect! - Both of these dishes were made really well and felt like a warm hug eating them. You can tell this place pays attention to their food!
This is a cute, small, and cozy restaurant located near The Farmer's Market and close to Downtown Dallas. They have plenty of indoor seating and a nice patio area. The menu prices are reasonable. We were greeted by Yuyee and she also suggested several menu items. I suggest you ask about the spice level when ordering. She allowed us to sample the teas they offer. I really liked the vibe here and I'm glad I finally stopped in to try it. We also bought a couple of Thai snacks. I will definetly be coming back again. 😋 Fri 02/10/2023- Came back and we were immediately greeted by Yuyee😊 She talked with us a bit and she said this is a family owned business and they stay pretty busy on the weekends. I tried the Pad Thai and Yuyee asked Kim if she was ordering the same dish. I was surprised that she remembered us and our order from our last visit. That's awesome! Lunch was delish and the portions were more than enough. Great Experience! I recommend you stop by and try it.👍👍
I think the food here is very spot on and I’m glad I got to try it before I left. I had the pork and shrimp dumplings and they were fairly good, had to add some spice to it from the side chili’s. The creamy coconut soup was on point, very nice and light while still being flavorful. The chicken was super moist as well, not dry. The pad Thai is a bit expensive but it is with good ingredients, it’s not tinged red or filled with sugar like some other Thai places. Definitely worth coming out to eat here, it’s very good and pretty authentic!
I’m not a fan of Thai food. It’s usually a different curry with the same coconut base and everything ends up tasting the same. Tried this place on a recommendation and ended up loving it. Realized that I don’t like the made up Thai version or restaurants but authentic Thai food is amazing. Would recommend the sticky rice mango 10/10. Finished it before even taking any pictures.
Awesome food here!!! Just enough flavor, big portions for the price. Inside and outdoor seating available, but the parking is hard to find because of the location. Pick up maybe a better option is you are in a rush and don’t have time to look for a spot, then walk here, get your feed and walk back.
In love with this small and cute Thai restaurant next to the Dallas Farmer Market. Their food, drinks, and desserts are so delicious. I recommend trying them all. However, I do have my favorite items. My favorite noodles are the Tom Yum Moo Deng. This is a spicy and sour noodle soup. My favorite drink is the Matcha. This matcha isn’t any regular matcha, this is a creamier matcha 😋. My favorite dessert is the Mango sticky rice. You won’t see the coconut milk on the side because it already added into the blue butterfly pea sticky rice. The customer service is excellent. The price worth the amount and the taste of the food.
Does have an extensive menu for being such a small place. The pad see eiew (pork) had only a few pieces of the flat noodles :/ Flavor was OK. Thai tea was filled with LOTS of ice. Flavor was very good but too much ice. Overall, decent Thai place. I'll give em another chance when I'm back in town! ***If you cannot take positive criticism like other restaurant owners, might as well close. Very unprofessional to reply back and expose yourself to potential customers your true colors! All you can do is better yourself and your business. Good luck in your future endeavors, owners of Ka-Tip!
I’ve been here so many times. As a foodie, the taste is no doubt and close to authentic. This is why I always go there. The only reasons that I take done one star are the price and quantity. I understand the price need to be higher in downtown region and farmers market area, but the quantity need to give little bit more for people living Texas.
Ka-Tip is a good Thai option. The appetizers are bursting with flavor, especially the dumplings. The entrées are a slightly different story. Each is respectable and offers good flavor. However, they're not quite as well balanced or flavorful as the appetizers. You can find similar or better options throughout DFW. Uniquely, there is a nice little shop inside where you can find some Thai snack options. You should visit because you will enjoy your meal and your time here.
I always try to leave positive reviews when they are deserved. I have been to several Thai restaurants all over the country. I wanted to try this one out while in downtown Dallas. Based on reviews it looked great. I will say the flavor of the food is good. The portion size of the soup is very small for paying a total of $15+ (including tax). I included a picture with a key for size reference. You do not get rice on the side which I have always had at every other Thai restaurant with this dish. They did not ask for spice level either. The service was very cold and I even felt ignored. Not a great experience. I won’t be coming back.
The high star ratings for this restaurant is deceiving! I was craving soup and decided to try Ka-Tip. Right away, it felt odd that the place was empty despite being across from the Farmers Market. The cashier recommended the Tom Yum after I asked her what she recommended as a soup, but the "16oz" portion for $12.50 looked more like 10oz. I asked about adding a small side of noodles and suddenly the total was $20 - the math just wasn't mathing. When I politely declined, she brushed me off with an attitude. I went to Zaap Kitchen instead and got a generous 20oz Tom Yum with a small side of rice for $12.98. Huge difference. It all makes sense now - not just why the restaurant is empty, but also why so many low star reviews mention the same thing: the prices don't add up, the portions are stingy, and the service isn't welcoming. Definitely not worth it.
