My kids love this place. The buffet is the win for us family of 6. Our server is kind and hospitable and the food is excellent. Just like homemade breakfast.
First time here and everything was great! Nice to have a place close for some comfort southern fixins lol
Great customer service, Breakfast buffet offered a great variety and food was fresh. Affordable price. 😊
Great food very nice people would definitely recommend stopping here
Buffet wasn't for me so I ordered off the menu, but the coffee is good and fresh. My server, Sunshine was warm, friendly, and helpful. Your meal comes with free pudding!!
I have been going to this restaurant for ages. They did build a new restaurant in the 1980's, but just moved across the road. Other than that they have been a Christiansburg staple since the 1970's. They serve a home style comfort menu. The food is great, the staff always friendly and attentive, the atmosphere is comfortable and homey. They serve a buffet for all three meals a day, but also have a menu for those looking for something different. Plenty of on-site free parking and I have never had to wait for a table. Highly recommend this establishment.
The buffet looked good. Went ala cart and added pie. Pecan was excellant.
I grew up coming here as a kid. It was always a special treat to go there with my grandparents. Not much to say other than it’s some really good comfort food. I really enjoy the buffet. It’s definitely a special treat when I’m in town.
I walked in starving. Ciara met me at the door, and made my entire experience a pleasure. She offer me the breakfast buffet. Not only was their establishment clean, but it was also an amazing breakfast spread. 10/10 recommend Country Kitchen for anyone!
Not really at all satisfied with the food the piece of chicken that my wife got was unmistakably a piece of banquet chicken, you can definitely tell that most of the food served there is not cooked there, maybe reheated at best. The overall staffing atmosphere was very welcoming and very warm but would not recommend it for the food
Has been a long time since I've visited Country Kitchen and decided that a hot meal was needed. I was not disappointed!! The food was hot, fresh and delicious 😋. The waitresses were friendly, fast. Now on to the end of meal arrives the bill...I could not believe how affordable it was!! Trust me for 2+ people you ain't gonna break the bank with an excellent home cooked meal 😉
Excellent food, great service, tables very close together and can become noisy during peek hours
The complaints and, or low ratings, need to be taken for what they are -- opinions. You get what you pay for. If you want higher price, better presentation, more atmosphere, then sure, you can go wherever you want, but good luck this side of big city. The food is food, real, not junk adulterated fare, all homemade. Quality, nutrition, and value for your dollars. With a breakfast buffet at $9.25, lunch/dinner @ $12-$13, you can select reasonable nutritious food off the small varied buffet (that you can see before selecting), or order off the menu, for more or less cost, at your choice, no free refills like the buffet. The place is clean, service is fair, food homemade, nutritious, competitively priced. Perspective... Welcome to a place where lots of locals eat - daily - and enjoy it.
Me and my wife and daughter went to country Kitchen Saturday evening for supper. My wife got her a chicken sandwich with fries and the waitress said it came with two sides so she asked if she could get a salad for one of the sides and the waitress says yes but it’s a extra $1.50 . We have went there a lot and our daughter is only ten when the waitress laid the ticket on the table my wife noticed they charged adult price this time for our daughter? So when my wife paid for our meal she asked about our daughter being charged full price and the waitress told her that they changed the age were children over eight is charged for adult meal so my wife also asked how old do you have to be for a senior citizen discount. And again, the waitress said that they don’t do senior citizen discounts. And we always pay with a card and now they are charging extra for using card.Looks like we won’t be going back there for a while!
I grew up coming here with family and have fond memories. But after my visit last month, I was really disappointed. We came for lunch and the fish was tough like it had been sitting on the buffet for a long time. Selection and variety was not there. The salad bar was all I enjoyed. Some heat lamps were out that hung over the food. Bread was tough not fresh. Just overall poor experience. The baked Mac n cheese used to be the best thing, but that wasn’t even good the day we stopped. I won’t be back, I’m sorry.
Not impressed by the food at all. The staff was friendly and the waitress was attentive, however the buffet and salad bar left much to be desired. There wasn’t a lot to choose from, the food was bland and fish was rubbery and dry. The salad was kind of wilted and there was not much besides croutons and salad dressing to add to it. We were really expecting more from the restaurant, especially with the number of cars we saw in the parking lot. Unfortunately we probably won’t be returning.
I was visiting from CO and will never go back. The food tasted great but the treatment of one waitress in particular was not acceptable or respectful. Sunshine is an amazing waitress and was very busy but attentive and very caring. She had two large parties to deliver food to. No one else had such large parties. While tending to her parties, the woman on the cash register was calling her over to complain about things, then proceeded to make negative comments to another waitress about Sunshine and then that waitress snapped at Sunshine and said she could wear the drinks sitting on the counter. Any conversations between workers should not take place in front of customers. In addition, the outside looks nice, the dining room area is clean but the restrooms are in need of repair , cleaning and updating.
If I can score a 0 I would this is the 1st time going and I will NEVER Return. My friend and I try the buffet and that was the worst experience ever wasn’t worth the money. The food was cold salad bar was a mess no body ever came out to clean. The only thing nice was the serving girl. When saying something when we left they act like it wasn’t that big of a deal and asked if we wanted to buy a dessert to go. Wouldn’t waste money on this place, how they still open got me.
Ate here for the 1st time in probably a year. I've never had lunch here just breakfast. Sadly will never eat here again. For 2 adults and 1 kid it cost $43. Adult buffet Friday at 3 was $11 each and kid was $6. Three sodas was $8.50. Sadly drinks cost more than my kids meal. Food was NOT hot and some things barely warm. Fried chicken that was luke warm, bland mac n cheese, toughg fish fillets, spaghetti was mush and watery. Veggies looked like it came from large cans and just plopped on the buffet line. My husband used to go there ALL the time when he was a kid and absolutely raved about it. Definitely not the case now. We all just ate the 1 plate we had and left.
Just went for breakfast. I wish I had wasted money on this. And when I asked for the manager/ owner to tell him how bad our waitress was he didn't ask what happened I said our waitress was terrible his response was really? Are you kidding me, any manager would have asked what happened, nope not here obviously he didn't care. Maybe some of your future customers will. Waitress would not come to fill our drinks, then asked to box our food after 15 minutes there. Like no can we have some drinks...brings one drink. 20 minutes later trying to get her attention hey my fries have a hair on them. Finally able to get another waitress. What a terrible experience. Sorry from the food, but the main thing was the rude waitress and how the owner responded. Wow would have never got treated like that years ago What a terrible way to treat your customers that have been supporting your business for over 40 years. Won't go back and be treated like that, why would we. I drive out of my way to come and absolutely will never spend my money here again, hope it's worth you to treat customers like that. Then the waitress standing there laughing like is that an adult waiting on me or a child. Probably kin to the owner is why I got that response, wouldn't you even be curious to why I was complaining? Shows you don't care. You can come out and act that way to customers it really shows the example you give your staff.
The food here is horrible for one. I tried it for the first time a few weeks ago and will NEVER buy there again. However, my daughter loves their hamburgers ONLY, and often goes to buy from them multiple times a week. Today, the server was very rude to my daughter simply because she forgot to bring her cashapp card. So, my daughter comes to get me and tell me how rude she was being and I walked in with her to see who the person was and to purchase her food for her. As we were standing there waiting, the server noticed me with my daughter and goes into the back and brings some old man out, who I'm assuming is the owner or whatever, and he stood there staring and watching me and my daughter until we paid and left. There was absolutely no hostility or anything being said when we went in, we simply stood there waiting to purchase her food. There was no reason to have been treated that way, especially as often as we come there for the burgers. Multiple times per week. I honestly felt singled out and embarrassed at how we were treated, especially being the only black people in there. I was always hesitant about the place for these reasons, but when we moved on this side of Cburg, we gave them a try. This validated every reservation I had about them. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because the new server that the previous one had to replace her was very sweet. It's a shame to still be treated this way. Will definitely spread the word and will not recommend. But to top it off, y'alls food sucks and is not no country cooking. I can promise you that. Rule of thumb for Country Kitchen, you never know what type of people you will encounter or what they're going through. We just lost my mother and my daughter is a high functioning autistic. Mistakes and accidents happen. If you don't have the patience to handle such small situations, you're in the wrong line of work. I'm sure others have come in with worse problems other than forgetting a dang debit card.
The chicken was cold and been reheated several times. The chunks of pork with BBQ poured over it was not good. The meatballs cold tasted reheated. Mac and cheese no taste. After attempting to eat we left just as hungry when we arrived. Not worth going to. Food poisoning waiting to happen. Never return. Definitely not real country cooking.
Total price for four people with a tip $65 we all had buffet based on an experience about 4 years ago. Times have changed and so has the quality of this place. Crazy fried chicken chunks of pork and meatballs for protein, mac & cheese, canned green beans, brown or black beats and yams poured right from the can into the buffet macaroni salad and potato salad seems to be filled with sugar. Basic salad very sparse. The place could use a spiffy up, but the server was nice. Thankfully, we were not in Christiansburg very often, but when we are, we will not be tempted by this place again.
