Birthday dinner here and it was totally fantastic. This place is situated in the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh and by god is the building impressive! As is the views!! We had the menu gourmand which is a 7 course meal paired individually with its own wine. The food was an absolute delight. I really don't like red wine however the port krohn colheita ('98) has given me hope. The presentation, the dishes, the wines.. a food adventure.. hats off to the staff at pompadour! You have a new fan..

I couldn't rate this experience highly enough. The food was outstanding, staff couldn't be friendlier and I felt so at home. The wine recommended was also very good. If you want bro treat yourself od highly recommend this 👌

Fantastic meal, perfectly paired wines exceptional service made my birthday celebrations extra special. Would defineately recommend it. The view from the restaurant over the castle was spectacular too.

A stunning restaraunt , beautifully and tastefully decorated with delicious French cuisine. Plenty of space in the reception and dining/event room that we were in, with a beautiful view from the large windows. I enjoyed a beautiful 3 course meal at an event here. The staff were courteous and able to refill drinks glasses with stealth that I and my friends felt was akin to ninjas. The presentation of the drinks was something else too. Our cocktails and mocktails were adorned with candyfloss in a sort of wistful homage to our winter theme for the party and the meals courses had some fantastic colours and tastes throughout. This is really somewhere I'd really love to visit again as the menu was imaginative, fun and something I'd never cook for myself. I can certainly see this as a breathtaking place to hold a reception for a wedding or anniversary dinner.

Had an amazing meal here - got a voucher for a discounted meal and although the staff knew this from the start at no point were we made to feel like second rate customers like in some other places where I've done the same. The menu was succinct but beautiful and very seasonal and every member of staff was extremely knowledgable about the food and wine. The ambience is lovely - perhaps a tad old fashioned but that can be quite comforting, and given that you are eating in a waldorf astoria hotel, it's to be expected. Highly recommend this for a special occasion, it's grand without being intimidating and makes for a very memorable evening.

Booked an evening meal for my wife and I. Lovely decor inside the restaurant. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Food was exceptional and the presentation was beautifully executed.

Always have a great experience here and love the attention to detail that they bring to the food and the service both. Good value Sunday lunch and early evening menus to more extravagant tasting experiences, there's plenty of ways to spoil yourself and feel special.

A fabulous tasting menu experience. I can honestly say I've not had a better tasting meal, with a well curated set of courses and beautiful wine pairings. Our 7 year old daughter was made to feel most welcome and whilst there was a kids option which could be made up, we choose steak for her and she loved it. The wine pairings were thoughtful and well calibrated, giving a showcase of some slightly less conventional choices, rather than just rehearsing all the "old standards". Our sommelier and server was highly knowledgeable and very thoughtful. She elevated what was already a very good meal into a very memorable experience. One of the genuine highlights of our holiday. The restaurant room also very tastefully decorated, lovely views over Princes Street and dual aspect offering lovely evening dusky light. Definitely recommended!

Nice restaurant with lovely view, tasty food and excellent service. We went for a dinner and tried the 4-course surprise tasting menu (they also have 8-course tasting menu). The food was good, but was expecting a bit more special and I found the portions rather too small. Between courses you can try they sourdough bread which is truly amazing. Crusty on the outside and airy on the inside. They also serve cheeses from I.J. Mellis (Stockbridge) which is my favourite cheesemonger in town. The staff is very friendly and they answer your questions happily (for example is you want to know more about the food they serve, the cheese you try, etc.). I would recommend to try, because it is a nice restaurant, food is alright and the service is outstanding. But it won’t be my favourite restaurant.

The food is good and the atmosphere very sophisticated, the whisky selection cart with desert is a special treat.

On the expensive side, as you would expect, but the food is excellent. Service friendly but unobtrusive, atmosphere of the room is still a bit stuffy though. Views stunning, if you are on the castle side!

Great restaurant for a romantic meal 🥰 A choice between a four or six-course menu including amuse-bouche, freshly-baked sourdough bread and butter, starter, main and dessert, and optional cheese platter with biscuits. Food was nicely presented but portions could have been a bit better. Staff is very attentive and quick to answer your questions. There are better (and cheaper) options available in Edinburgh. Why not trying Six by Nico in the New Town?

£220 a head in a restaurant with no table cloths. Seating okay but they should be more comfortable for tasting menus. Wines spot on. Lovely staff. Wife enjoyed it. I wouldnt recommend to others. Better restaurants at better price in the town. Bring back table cloths!!!

Food was good (not the best) but service was extremely slow. Took 25 mins for our wine to come. We ordered a bottle of water during our main course and arrived when we were half way through dessert. Quite stressful!

For one of Edinburgh's finest rooms, whoever thought of lifting the carpets, putting an old boat in along with Ikea style furniture, and painting fish on the windows, really doesn't get it. Food and service are ok.

Food was generally of a high standard, however the service was extremely slow and the kitchen could not handle an almost full house. As a result, multiple courses arrived late and some had to be sent back as were cold. Some tables had even left during the sitting. Therefore took about five hours to able to do all the courses. Edit: restaurant said would contact me days ago, but have not yet. Very disappointed.

Total rip off. Been to many posh restaurants, Michelin stars etc. the food is good, obviously. Master chef finalist, I wouldn’t expect less. Dean Banks is not a fully established Michelin star chef yet but charges more than other rates restaurants I’ve been to. Won’t be back

Highly disappointed after booking 2 weeks in advanced then positioned next to the waiters work station (the worst table in the restaurant). Also we were told we could not order drinks in the restaurant but had to order the particular drinks we wanted in the bar downtsaris which was inconvenient for us. Furthermore the waiters lacked personality and included a unnecessary service charge compared to better restaurants in Edinburgh where they leave it to your discretion (number one, Balmoral). The food was good but the service was well below parr for a top restaurant/hotel

Slow service and the food really was not great. It is a nice looking restaurant however

Uncomfortable environment, poor food choice and tiny portions, extremely expensive , staff not very knowledgeable. Overall very forgettable.
