Best pizza in San Diego Hands down. Very authentic NY experience too , The owner knows what he has, so don't upset him unless you wanna be on the "No S̶o̶u̶p̶ pizza for you come back 2 years" list 🤣 respect the pizza maker 🥰😋 worth every carb. ❤🍕❤

Great NY style slices here. Thin, crispy crust and full of flavor similar to the east coast. Had the plain slice and pepperoni, really liked plain the best and would recommend. Owner is a good hard working guy. Will be back next time in town.

This hit the spot! I love the crispy (not burnt) bottom, chewy firm cheese (stays on the slice) and crunch again at the top. Foldablity and sauce flavor was just what I've been searching for since moving to North County. I'm not from NYC, been there had the pizza though and I know what I like! HAMMER'S NY PIZZA is for me.....easy choice.

Always trying out new food places that open up in this area. Discovered Hammers NY style pizza in Encinitas. BEST NY style pizza I've ever tasted in all of San Diego. I dont usually write in reviews. This place Hammers NY style pizza...is the exception. This guy has the correct ingedients down to the science of that New York taste I remember and Love so well. Dough is thin..perfect crunch outside...yet soft cooked dough on inside. Ingredients is perfectly blended that makes your taste buds scream for more. (I drove back very next day from San Marcos to Encinitas to have more of this tasty pizza). Yeah....that good. I highly recommend this place if you like that authentic NY style pizza. Owner (Hammer) is originally from NYC...(which made sense to me) very personable person who takes pride in his skills and product he puts out to serve others...prices are very reasonable. A must try....if you know NY style pizza. Great place!

Really good new York style pizza, made by a real new yorker. Hammer is a really friendly guy, and is good at making pizza. He also has garlic knots, cheesecake, and other side dishes, though the pizza is the real ticket. Since it's usually just him making every pizza by hand, it might take a few minutes, but it's worth it.

Best pizza in encinitas. The number one thing I love about this place is the cheese does not slide off when you take a bite. The pizza here actually has flavor and the cheese doesn't feel like rubber. Make sure you ask hammer for lots of ranch!

Great pizza and an even better owner/operator. Highly recommend for thin crust. If you are picking up your own food, make sure to CALL and PLACE YOUR ORDER and not order online. Best to ensure all of the money goes straight to the small business. Yummy!

Wait why was this some of the best pizza I’ve ever had!! Saw they had good reviews so I tried the New Jersey style pizza (I had no idea what that meant but I was like why not just go for it). 10/10 would definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back and try more pizza!

I tried Hammer's Pizza for the first time on Friday this week, and it was so good I came back on Saturday afternoon for some more pizza. The best NY pizza I've tasted on the West Coast. Prices are very fair. The Hammer is a very personable proprietor and eager to please his customers. Hammer is also passionate about creating an excellent NY pizza. The rest of Hammer's menu looks just as good and I'm looking forward to trying those items as well. I'm a big fan of Hammer's pizza and I love to support small businesses like Hammer's Pizza dedicated to their talent of creating excellent food and providing excellent customer service. I was really excited to read about the family history of secret dough, and it was tasty but turned to cardboard quickly after cooking. I felt the amount of cheese was lacking for my taste. The sauce was perfect amount and very good. That was it. I’m sure the pie was much better right out of the oven but for $35 this was really disappointing. Thank you to the owner for the hospitality.

Foods delicious and affordable. The place could use a little renovating our front as it looks a little grungy with only 2 chairs. The employee working the register was nice and helped us order our food but “Hammer” was very rude and snarky making our brief visit very unpleasant.

Definitely NOT NY pizza, a sin to compare. Dough was dry, dense, tasteless. Dressing for Caesar salad is just as tasteless unfortunately, missing anchovies. Won't return.

We were visiting from out of town and staying at a hotel, we googled best pizza near me and this place popped up and reviews looked good, so we decided to give it a try. Walked in to order (which they charge an extra $5 for) guy that took the order was somewhat friendly, but the guy making the pizza (assuming was the owner) was not friendly at all, almost seemed irritated that we walked in. The guy that took our order must have been new because we walked out to our car to wait the 20 minutes for our order and as we walked out the other guy told him that he was supposed to charge an extra $5 for “walk in” orders. If we had been notified of this extra charge, we would have definitely not ordered from here. Pizza was nothing special, just average at best. They did not even have to go plates, cheese packets or pepper packets. We would definitely not recommend this place!
