Tip: The orange juice is fresh. It’s a bit expensive, but worth it once in a while. Be prepared to wait on weekends.

Noisy inside restaurant. Expensive, but good food.
Menu is huge! Hard to decide what to eat. Everything sounds so good. Service is great, portions of food is awesome and I look forward to Sunday mornings after church. It's busy at that time however we always get a table right away. Great atmosphere too. Check it out!
OPH has been our family weekend staple for over a decade. Their signature corned beef hash w potato pancakes can't be beat. Non-stop refills on coffee. Julie handled our most recent service and was fantastic. They pride on great food, service, and quickness! Any time my kids come home from college, they demand Pancake House. I can't argue with that.
I eat here frequently. Food is always excellent as is the service. They are constantly refilling the coffee without having to ask. Friendly servers. I recommend the Hash with eggs. Pancakes are always fluffy and moist. Like the diner feel
Absolutely classic San Diego breakfast establishment
The pancakes are so on point! So good!!! Bring your appetite because the portions are big. The blueberry pancakes had a ton of blueberries in them with a homemade blueberry syrup. So good. Service was great, fast, and the only thing I didn't like was the drinks are small. Other than that, I would definitely eat here for breakfast again.
I can't believe I've never rated this place. Somehow they've managed to stay as consistent--and make pancakes taste just the same--as they were almost two decades ago. Really remarkable. If I lived in the area I'd come here more often.
Really great food and we had a wonderful and very attentive waitress. The buttermilk pancakes, omelette, strawberries and fresh made whip cream were all delicious
I had outstanding customer service here. Her name was Kathy she is manager . She is very friendly and great smile and positive attitude!@ She made my day thank you for your kindness!!
This was our first visit here. The place has a good amount of tables. There is an onsite parking lot. The staff were attentive and friendly. My coffee cup was kept full. The food was well made and delicious. If you like pancakes, you will love these. Everything was cooked to order. We were glad we ate here and I highly recommend you stop in and try it yourself. You will be glad you did!!! They are located at 160 S. Rancho Santa Fe Road, Encinitas, California.
I was visiting the area and decided to have breakfast here. Original Pancake House is usually very good around the country and this location is no different. Parking was easy and the restaurant is clean and large. There is a patio too. The menu is basically the same as other Pancake House locations. I enjoyed the food and the service was great. I’d recommend if you like this type of diner food backed by the consistency of this chain.
This place is pretty good for breakfast. I had french toast and the bread is fluffy. We also had a pancake and it's a big portion. I can't recall what's the name of this particular pancake.
I had the eggs Benedict and some pancakes and was blown away by the amazing taste. I was like what are they putting in the ingredients?! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If I could give them 10 stars I would! It’s been years since I’ve been to one of these. From apple cinnamon Dutch baby pancake to cherry crepes… freshly squeezed OJ! my goodness! Explosion of flavors! 💥💥💥 I mean, we travel all over & we know good food! if you read a less than 5 stars review on this place just ignore them, they are way too spoiled. Or someone who says portions are too big?? Just don’t eat as much or take it home! Simple as that! I hope you find this review helpful and go enjoy this amazing food they make daily 🥰💕💗
Hadn't been in many, many years, and I was very excited to share a place from my childhood with my kiddos. We went early before school and they enjoyed it so much! We will be back now that we are locals again!
What a great breakfast. The pancakes were spot on! We also had the ham and cheese omelette, which was also delicious. The orange juice was fresh, and the toast was good. Our server Jess was a real hustler. It’s a bit expensive, but worth it once in a while. We had about a ten minute wait on a holiday Monday.
Went to the Original Pancake House for breakfast this morning for breakfast. It had been so long since I last had it and boy did I miss it. The staff is always friendly and attentive, the food is amazing, and it has the cutest old-times vibe in there. I got the Bacon pancakes this time. They were so good.
Absolutely love this place one of my favorites in town. Everything they make is amazing.
Excelent service! Everybody happy and friendly...enjoying theyre job.

Had a great experience! The omelette was tasty, though I'd prefer if it were slightly less greasy/oily. Everything else was perfect: the service was excellent, the restaurant was clean, and the food quality and value were both high. I'll definitely be back.
I love this place I've been going here along time the coffees just OK but everything else is great. Pancakes are amazing
Great breakfast spot always great food! The best coffee and great service! An outdoor patio too!!!

Good breakfast place, great hollandaise, but putting the eggs Benedict in the boat shaped dish made no damn sense.
Beloved chain in San Diego. Each spot I have been to delivers a consistently good product. The food here is less about eye candy and more about substance.
Great place for breakfast. I took my daughter there on Sunday morning and had a great breakfast. The portion was huge and food great. Always consistent. The service was good. Anyways wish they had more items like crayons for kids. The prices are expensive for breakfast. Our breakfast cost $50 dollars with tip. There were some upgraded charges and only coffee to drink. Anyways one dish will easily cover you and your child.
Came here on Sunday for breakfast. Never had been here before, and luckily it was busy but we got seated quickly. I ordered the Irish Omlette. When it came out it wasn't your usual omelette, it looked more baked or put in broiler. It was completely dry on the outside almost like a crisp on it. However inside was the opposite and lots of moisture. Regardless of the way it looked, it was okay, not bad but I think I like the traditional ones better. Less dry. But it was a great size portion and took some home for leftovers. I also got a side of a potato pancake which was pretty good. Other meals that were ordered were French toast and pancakes. I didn't get to taste the French toast but the pancakes were great. I had a few bites of that. I get specialty pancakes next time I'm come here.

the food is very good although it is quite pricey. love to see local shops however and I’ll be going here again!
I wasn't super stoked on this place. I go the crepes and they were kind of thicker than I'm used to and drowned in warm berries and the syrup resulting from those berries on top. Menu said fresh strawberries, which usually means cold. It was just a lot and I wasn't crazy about it. Everything on the menu is also really expensive and to me the quality didn't justify the price. I will say my buddy that I went with enjoyed his meal. If I come back and have a better experience I will adjust my review but right now I'm a bit lukewarm on the experience I had.
Depending on the time and day you go, you may get an A+ team or a D- team. If you go during peak hours, you may not receive part of your order as well. Having said that, the food is consistently good, and the staff works hard, it is always clean, and, if reminded, the staff will quickly correct any issue. So give them a chance if you're not lacking in patience.
Definitely a lot of food for your money, but not enough of a beverage for your money. The portions could definitely be split between two people for each dish. We ordered and were full the rest of the day. Service was lacking even though the place was not busy. Will be looking for a new breakfast spot to go to since I know there are better places that have popped up over the years.
Parking is available in the lot but expect a wait to be seated on a Sunday. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated. To be honest I am not sure why this place is so popular. The pancakes taste different, I'm not sure what exactly they use but they did not taste like butter but a little sour almost. I also got potato pancakes and they tasted a little like fish which is weird. My eggs benedict were very good so that's the only thing that made the wait worth it. I would just think a pancake place would have good pancakes but maybe you have to put more toppings for it to taste better.

I have come here for years and really enjoy the apple pancake which is by far the best I have ever had. Unfortunately, something has happened because the service has noticeably declained in the last couple of months or so. A mid-week visit required our party of four to repeatedly have to ask for refills of coffee, water, napkins - really just basics. On another recent visit, after repeated asks for water and menus, I finally went and got them myself. Thereafter, I had to ask for a server so I could place my order. I hope OPH reverts back to what used to work so well. I hope to be able to update this review to 5 stars. In the meantime, it may be time to learn how to make a great apple pancake at home.

my family prefers to dine here on weekdays when the pace is more relaxed. On weekends they are fully packed, and so loud from all of the shouting of over caffeinated customers, that it’s difficult to have a conversation. In the more than 23 years we have been coming to this location, not much has changed. Staff always friendly and attentive. Tables and restaurant are always clean. Real maple syrup is available upon request. One change which has occurred a few years ago is the addition of gluten free pancakes to the menu, which are massively oversweetened. The coffee is bad enough that it too is heavily sugared. I think i’m the only customer who notices these things. They are actually good for the average person’s needs, just extremely heavy handed on the sugar. Personally I won’t be coming here again because everything i have ever ordered is just too sweet, and sugar is completely unnecessary for most items offered. adding sugar to the coffee is the last straw for me. I like my coffee black.
Since I don't drink soda, this place is a nice place for brunch most of the time, but the service was lacking on my most recent visit. It wasn't even a busy time, there were maybe 3 other tables needing service. I had to ask for a replacement of all my utensils, they were greasy and had food still caked on. When I received my coffee, I had to ask for a clean cup and fresh cup. Once I received my replacement utensils, I had to request clean ones a second time as ai still got greasy and food covered ones again.

Service poor, I ordered eggs Benedict, muffins were not toasted, eggs under cooked, Canadian bacon not cooked, sauce watery, pancakes cold, and dish with eggs, full of water. very poor food.
This place used to have reasonable prices but it's way overpriced now, $17 for 3 silver dollar pancakes and $17 for bacon & eggs, that's crazy!

By far the worst manager so rude and disrespectful and extremely unhelpful I believer her name was Kathryn at the Encinitas store we called in an order to go and asked a few more people to meet us there we would have tripled our bill easily she refused to seat us because we also had a to go order which we were also going to buy. We go there weekly and spend tons of money there . If I were the owner I would fire her immediately if I want return customers to keep coming and bringing there families especially near the holidays . We will never spend our money there again . Super unfortunate and will be contacting the owner Mike
First round of coffee was cold as they did not offer to bring the creamer until 10 minutes into receiving it. Food was luke warm and my partners eggs were cold. You got four bussers walking around not doing much but only two waitresses. They weren’t busy at all but still managed to take all day. Food taste was average and still felt like we overpaid.
Too expensive for the quality of food.
Sadly went in on a Tuesday morning waited about 5 min before a host even showed up to be seated, after that waited about 10 min for someone to come up and ask if i needed anything i told them i no longer would be dining in for breakfast, was not even busy in the morning.
