Avis sur Cafe Waterfront Eureka
Café Waterfront in Eureka is one of those restaurants that perfectly captures the spirit of Old Town and the Humboldt Bay. Every time I walk through the doors I feel the history and charm of the building mixed with the energy of a place that has been serving locals and travelers for years. The setting is classic and inviting, with wood details, big windows, and that old town feel that makes you want to sit down, relax, and take your time. It is the kind of restaurant where you can come for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and know you are going to get a memorable meal. The food at Café Waterfront is consistently excellent. Breakfast here is legendary with plates stacked full of pancakes, omelets loaded with fresh ingredients, and perfectly cooked bacon and eggs. The eggs benedict is a favorite of mine, rich and flavorful with a hollandaise sauce that tastes homemade every time. For lunch and dinner, seafood shines as the star of the menu. Fresh oysters, fish and chips, clam chowder, and salmon dishes all stand out as some of the best in town. The chowder especially is creamy, hearty, and full of flavor, the kind of soup that warms you up on a foggy Humboldt day. The portions are generous and everything tastes like it was made with care. The bar is another reason Café Waterfront is such a great spot. They pour strong, well balanced cocktails and always have a good selection of beer and wine to go with your meal. Sitting at the bar with a drink in hand and a plate of oysters feels like the perfect Humboldt experience. The atmosphere makes this place even more special. There is a lively mix of locals and visitors, and the energy always feels warm and welcoming. It is the kind of place where you can have a casual breakfast one day, come back for a nice seafood dinner the next, and each visit feels just as good as the last. Service here is always friendly and reliable. The staff know the menu, keep things moving smoothly, and add to the feeling that Café Waterfront is a restaurant that really values its guests. For me, Café Waterfront is more than just a spot to grab a bite. It is a cornerstone of Old Town Eureka, a place that ties together history, community, and great food. Every visit feels memorable, whether you are watching the fog roll in off the bay through the windows or enjoying a meal with friends and family. It is a true Eureka classic and one of the places I always recommend when someone asks where to eat in town.
The fish and chips here was the best I've ever had. perfectly crispy outside and tender inside. we ordered a salad and clam chowder which were excellent too. Service couldn't have been better, and music made the atmosphere absolutely perfect. will for sure be coming again for breakfast or lunch next time!
While the prices are steep, the view is lovely and the service quite nice. My only critique is it seemed they were too busy for their kitchen staff. Food was good. Ours was costly as we ate oysters and crab, but what else should one want for when on the waterfront? :)
Café Waterfront has that classic, old-school coastal vibe that just feels right by the bay. The oysters were fresh and the clam chowder was rich and comforting—exactly what you’d hope for at a waterfront spot. Service was friendly and attentive, even during a busy dinner rush.
Historic eatery equally as exciting for either a seafood connoisseur or an interior design enthusiast. Menu celebrates the bounties caught by local fishermen; interior wood finishes well-reflect the long history of lumber jacking and wood milling in Eureka. Expert carpentry seen from the trim work, crown moldings and windows — a testament to why the restaurant ranks on the National Register of Historic Places. Steamed Clams are simply delicious — plump, lightly garlicky, and tasting of the sea. A must-try when in Eureka. Impeccable and knowledgeable service.
LOVED IT!!! We all had the calamari, coconut shrimp for appetizers. For meals we had scallops, steak sandwich, and the special Marsala chicken on linguine with a caper, white wine sauce, delicious! We will definitely be back! I brought home a slice of carrot cake, which i am sure its just as yummy as everything else! One thing it is very small inside so if you have a large party I suggest making reservations.
Later night, we sat at the bar. Interesting interior, sort of period for the town. Seems like this had been a similar business in past decades, if not centuries. Very comfortable ambience. Attentive staff, and decent offerings across the board. Food, wines, beers, cocktails, this place has it going on.
We went for our 38th anniversary dinner! We shared oysters on the half shell as an app. I had their Halibut special and Jeff had Scampi. Both were excellent. We both had drink specials they were excellent also. We did not have dessert, we were too full. Our bartender and server were great! I recommend Cafe Waterfront. We went at 8:30pm on a Monday night.
After dining in other local restaurants, this was a breath of fresh air. It's a cute place viewing a harbor area with amazing food and fast friendly service. You're not bombarded by obnoxious too loud music and half- drunk customers. The cuisine was truly first rate. Bottles of wine are not insanely priced, which is not something that is normal where we come from. Our new Eureka favorite!
This is my absolute favorite place to dine in Humboldt! My husband and I love it so much we come almost weekly and always bring guests here. Food is always great and consistent. The service is always homey and we love the views. We even got our engagement photos done inside/outside the restaurant! We love it so much and is a staple in the community.
We were driving through and decided to stop for an early dinner, we loved it! No wait time since we arrived around 5pm. We were seated right away and our food got to us pretty quickly! My husband got the chicken parmesan linguine special and I got the chicken Caesar salad. We also got bread and clam chowder to warm up since it was pretty chilly out today! Great service and food, and such a cute location. We can’t wait to come back to Eureka and explore some more!
Come here on a Sunday morning, the way it was around 20 minutes. They took your name down and Will call you. The waitresses are very nice and polite. They provide you all the sauce you need before you even need to ask. The famous Humboldt Bay oyster here it’s so fresh and delicious. Also ordered a chicken fried steak and prawn omelette. Everything was super delicious. Highly recommend
Location Authentic old fashioned Victorian style building. Grilled halibut was excellent. Hubby says burger was great! Yummy sourdough bread too :)
Let’s start with the food…amazing. I think it might’ve been the best Caesar salad I’ve ever had. I also had the small fruit plate & it was super fresh. I think it was grown locally but that’s just a guess. My partner had the French dip sandwich, which he liked but it was just meat & bread with the au jus on the side. He’s used to a horseradish or some type of condiment on the sandwich. I was confused by the service at first. On to the service, I thought the young lady who sat us & brought the drinks was our waitress but I now know that she was the hostess (my fault). Our waiter was good though. He checked in & did everything else that a waiter is supposed to do. The atmosphere was ehhh, but I’m not a fan of older buildings, etc. I sensed good vibes though, so that’s all that matters to me. Overall, I’d visit again whenever I’m in town. Solid 7.5/10.
Loved this historic building location right near the waterfront. Tried the huckleberry lemonade and it was yummy. Dinner was north coast clam chowder with sourdough bread and I would totally come back for that. Followed by the fish and chips, that were really flavorful. Very enjoyable experience.
This place really was middle of the road for me: for the food, everyone that was with me (there were 5 of us) had good food, and my side was super good - but my sandwich was terrible (it was dry, and it didn't have a good flavor. My mom tried it too and literally spit it out.) It sucks spending $19 for a sandwich (plus drink) and only eating the side and the bun! The service: the hostess was great, she helped me when I asked for more water and when I wanted to pay, but our waiter literally just took our order and brought food. It was crazy it took so long for our food because they weren't busy at all. I feel like this place is hit or miss - you may have a great experience, or you might get unlucky like me and just order the wrong thing. Good luck!
I had been a very frequent customer at Cafe Waterfront for many years until Moriah took over as bartender and treated me as inconsequential because I don’t drink alcohol. I always tip well and treat staff with the respect and kindness they deserve so honestly it hurts my feelings to be treated dismissively because my tab isn’t as substantial. I had gone when she wasn’t there and was treated well so was trying again but today she actually ignored me for several minutes after I sat down and then quickly took the order of another person who had just sat down. I walked out…too bad, I honestly love the music and atmosphere, so I miss it.
Walked in with my girlfriend around 4:00pm (dinner service hadn’t started) and it took 3 different servers walking past us for us to be asked if we’d like something to drink. Not by our server, By the bartender. No hello, just a cold do you want anything to drink. The young blonde lady needs an attitude adjustment or perhaps a lesson in basic manners. Definitely not recommending even with the “old building charm”. We settled out with a 0 tip and took our money to Brick & Fire where we dropped 25% tip because the service and food was miles better than this dying old establishment. I never leave reviews but this garbage service warranted it.
Absolutely horrible. The glowing reviews on here feel like this place is paying for good ratings. $31 for six pieces of frozen shrimp bathing in a room temperature watery butter sauce with a 1/4 cup of rice and about 10 steamed, unseasoned vegetables. Other highlights included the scallops, which were chewy and overcooked. The French onion soup which was soggy croutons sitting on warm onion water and clumpy cheese. And the unflavored, unseasoned, fried oysters. It’s astounding if this place has repeat customers. Update from the day after: 3 out of 4 of us who ate here got food poisoning. Stay away.
Food was absolutely terrible. Grilled oysters were bitter and mushy/slimy. Snapper was overcooked and tasted like nothing but burnt fish. The calamari was also not edible. Sent all the food back, besides the bread and salad, and was stuck with a $110 bill for 2 people. Seriously I would not recommend it. Ended up eating in n out on our anniversary after paying a lot for food we did not eat.
