I stopped by this coffee shop and tried the chocolate muffin — wow, it was absolutely amazing! 🍫🔥 Hands down one of the best muffins I’ve ever had. The perfect balance of rich chocolate flavor and soft texture. On top of that, the staff was super nice and made the experience even better. Highly recommend!
Loved everything about this cafe! The barista was so so friendly, she took my order fast and I was in and out. It was quite busy but she managed to be efficient. The prices are fair, coffee was delicious, sandwich was healthy and filling. 10000% coming back here for the food, coffee, and especially service!
As many have said, there was a painfully long wait for this place to open. The neighborhood watched as construction and decoration completed, yet the final lights on and doors open seemed to take forever. Why the anticipation? Because the Metropolitan edge of one of the top Queen's neighborhoods did not have a real barista centered café. That said, expectations, and the possibilities for disappointment, were quite high. I can now say that Hill's cafe not only fills the void with excellence, but it sets a new standard for a neighborhood cafe. The decor is efficient, comfortable, and pleasing to look at. The staff, given some small forgiveness that all new places are allowed, are very friendly, very skilled, and provide great service. All the drinks we have tried were excellent. John made a fantastic matcha today, sweetened it perfectly, and actually provided table service! There was a young woman a few days ago who made a perfect chai latte. Their assortment of bakery goods, all sourced from their supplier, seems to vary each time, with a few constants, but is presented quite appetizingly, and all that I have sampled (banana bread, a big round croissant, a coconut custard cream donut) were delicious. As I had hoped, Hill's cafe will be a regular stop during my walks through the neighborhood and after my runs in Forest Park.
Recently opened coffee shop in Forest Hills. Instantly impressed by a friendly welcome and caring service. Clean and comfortable space. Quality coffee (love a big mug for dine-in) and an enticing selection of baked goods.
I love the almond croissant and the cookies/treats they make. the ambiance is comfortable, AC works well and the staff has always been friendly to me.
Best scone I’ve had! It’s big and delicious. First time here tried an hazelnut iced coffee and a vanilla hot coffee. I loved their beans. Will look forward to coming back.
Best coffee in the neighborhood by far. The barista John is always friendly and makes the best brown sugar shaken espressos. The Hills Cafe coffee has a great bold taste. It’s a must try!
Decently priced coffee selection. Friendly service. Very spacious comfy seats. Excellent mocha and pastries.
Ever have a frappuccino that will change your life? Try The Hill's Cafe's caramel frappuccino. I would recommend other things but I can't have that much coffee in one sitting. Can't wait to visit again. Check this place out. A local hang out for sure!

My husband and I were in town for a concert, and this spot was the closest coffee shop to our AirBNB. We are SO glad we stopped in. The coffee and tea tasted amazing. The pastries were also delicious, and the staff was more than happy to warm them up for us. Rachel was our barista during the multiple times we stopped in, and she was so friendly and makes the best coffee. The shop was so cute, decorated for autumn. Definitely recommend!
Coffee is smooth , all seasonal drinks have been great ! My favorite has been the Cookie Butter iced Beverage . Blanca my barista was informative and patient with reviewing menu items with me . Will be back soon !
I went in for a coffee in the afternoon and the staff was kind, attentive and engaging. They had a great menu, many different options. Their white chocolate latte with cinnamon was perfect. I also had the chance to try a bit of dough with a cream cheese filling; it was delicious - there is a lot of care in this place! Looking forward to going back.

Really nice and cozy cafe. Tasty pastries and robust coffees. The mochas are good and less pricier than other cafe's. I love their ice coffee's too. Really nice decor and comfortable seats..the only downside I see...No music..It REALLY needs some nice mellow music as at times it feels dead....sometimes they put a little speaker but most times I've been there there is none. There is also no foot traffic since it's inside a residential street. I hope they do well....it's my favorite cafe

I don’t want to get down too hard on this place but I can’t tell you how many times I ordered a simple ice coffee and it was different every single time - and not for the better. I spoke to the manager and she was really nice and the drink was ok for a while and then went right back to it either being a complete cream drink or all ice and curdled white filaments at the top w equally awful taste to a week ago where my ice coffee had an awful lemony after taste ?????? Sorry. I’m done. Update : 1/29/26. Look at the photo. I gave them another chance and this what they gave me.
I was very excited to see that a new coffee shop was added to the neighborhood. The staff is friendly and inviting! The look of it is modern and clean. However the coffee was very pricy compared to the others around and just “okay.” The espresso used is tasty but the fact that my latte was made with regular planet oat milk and not barista milk declines the quality. We also had a chai latte only to find out that it was Tazo chai, very upsetting as this place is charging $7.50/ea for these drinks. I say this in hopes that the business improves. It’s nice having successful businesses in the neighborhood and look forward to improvements. I will revisit in a year or so to update my review.

Drink - okay but could be better; tasted like tap water Croissant - awesome Service - awkward Vibes / Atmosphere - serene, cool Went in here today and it's a calm, pretty atmosphere, good music that's not overbearing. Lovely, simple food choices. Surprisingly, the staff is unfriendly - at least they were to me. No greeting, no hello how are you, I just kind of got stared at after I placed my order and the silence was awkward. A few other staff brushed by me as they came out of a doorway leading to a back room - again, no hellos, and also no eye contact. It made me feel very unwelcome. Oddly, these same folks were super friendly with another patron who came in. She got a big greeting, lots of talking and smiles. She was much younger - perhaps that is their issue? Don't really care; treat all customers the same.

I have yet to encounter a price that's on the menu that is the same as the actual price. The Baristas will also frequently skip over the option for the rewards program as if it doesn't exist so you have to awkwardly ask to use it. The drip coffee is gas station quality and often room temp so avoid that, but the espresso is actually decent. Would not recommend. It's a shame because the space is actually cute.

The coffee is seriously a hit or miss. Maybe not even a hit . The first time we went the coffee was good but then we went two more times and each visit way they made the coffee was way too milky . The workers are fine , there’s one woman who knows what she’s doing and she makes the best coffee. They have a really good chocolate chip muffin though . Otherwise the coffee is really mediocre at best
Don't go here. I come to the neighborhood every Sunday, and this time I thought, you know what, I should support the independent local business instead of going to the Dunkin donuts or Starbucks up the block. The first issue was finding a coffee shop. Google maps tell me it was one place, then when I started the directions to either walk or drive there, it showed the coffee shop being somewhere else. I called the shop to confirm the location and when I gave them the cross streets they said yes, so I walked. It wasn't the correct location, it was a block away. Upon telling the staff member, she stared at me with a bothered look as if I was troubling her, and said ok, how many I help you. I wanted to just help them and other customers. I ordered a large cold brew, a muffin, and a $3 cookie. The cookie rang up $4.50. when I asked about it, she said we don't have anymore of the smaller cookies, just the larger ones. I looked again, at the cookies. There was only a signage for $3, nothing for $4.50. I asked to remove it. if it was just this, I wouldn't have given any review, but since I'm here already ... How many of us have purchased something, thought it was one price, and then look at the receipt later at home and see it's a higher price. See photo of the cold brew. It was nice and cold outside, I didn't realize I needed so much ice for that the drink would get warm quickly. This was essentially a small coffee in a large container full of ice. It took me about four pulls on the straw to finish it. I went to Dunkin after to get more. I would have said something and I went back and asked for less ice and if they could fill it back with more coffee, but when it was given to me was very little milk, I asked if I could get a little more, and essentially she poured out almost half the coffee and made it a latte. She seemed bothered that I even requested more milk. The muffin I bought was terrible. I took one bite of the top and thought, wow this is bad. Typing this now, I'm thinking, maybe it was old. I tried to take a second bite, thinking it's the top of the muffin which is the best part, I spit it out and I threw out in time of it. I couldn't even digest a second bite. It's terrible, we should all try to support local businesses. And places like this will think why are they doing so bad and why is no one coming and it's the reason of the dunkin' donuts and a Starbucks down the block. Do better.
The vibes here were not it. Three staff members and an empty café, yet they still couldn’t get our order right. The one taking our order looked completely checked out and had my husband repeat himself multiple times, then “forgot” to charge for one of the lattes. The overall energy they gave us was really off-putting, almost like we didn’t belong there. The drinks were extremely sweet. As someone who’s been a manager, having three employees standing around doing nothing is a waste of payroll. They should really hire more friendly and welcoming staff. Definitely not returning – Ateaz down the street has wayyy better coffee and service!
I had a really disappointing experience at this café. The workers were extremely rude and made no effort to help when we tried to find a drink that was actually available. Almost everything we asked for was still advertised but “not available,” and instead of offering alternatives, the staff just acted annoyed. When we finally settled on something, the drinks( hot chocolate and matcha)we got tasted like plain water—honestly some of the worst I’ve ever had. Definitely not worth the visit.
