Instead of the cavalcade of cafés in my San Francisco neighborhood, we encountered a General Store. It felt like we were two cowboys walking into a Western film—a place with no proper names. I half expected signs reading Barber, Dry Cleaner, Saloon, High School, Dentist. Singular nouns, not plural—simple and sane. We should have eaten there, but instead we used it as reconnaissance, surveying what might generously be called “Downtown.”
Fabulous place to catch live music with a great atmosphere! Food is decent service is efficient . One of my favorite hangouts!
Had a great time watching a Bob Dylan retrospective. The band had many interesting performers including Maria Maldaur. The service was fast, the kitchen was fast. All in all a great night and a great place. Well worth the drive
We held an intimate reception at Rancho Nicasio in the Western Room and it was absolutely incredible. The building in general is beautiful but the Western room was so warm and inviting. The rental included the use of a large patio and it gave my guests plenty of room to spread out and mingle. There is also plenty of parking! The food was absolutely delicious and was a generous portion size. The real highlight of this venue however is the event coordinator Marina! She treated my small reception with the care and attention of a large event. She had the answer for every question I had and was always very easy to get a hold of. The way Marina and her team decorated the space was even more beautiful than what I had imagined in my head. Just a few weeks before my event I had a family member go through a sudden surgery and when I reached out to Marina about discussing some dietary accommodations she jumped right onto finding the perfect meal for them and truly went out of her way to make sure my guest was taken care of. Her compassion during a difficult time meant the absolute world to me and my family. If you're thinking about booking here do it asap! This place was truly a gem with absolutely incredible people working here!
H Great local spot that's hosted many many entertainers from far and wide. Once again we visited last night for dinner and a show featuring Todos Santos. It was perfect in every way. Sunday night, show started early in the evening which is perfect for the last weekend hours. Full menu offered sandwiches to steaks and all quite tasty. We were served dinner quickly and with reasonable prices as we watched the very talented trio. Some guests danced which was lovely. Thank you for a memorable evening.
First time at this venue! Really great vibe! Tommy Castro and his fiance Deanna Bogart were a hit and his band was exceptional!!
Rancho Nicasio is such a cool place. It's so much fun to sit at a picnic table under the redwoods and enjoy the breeze, take in the sights and sounds, savior the food & drinks, and converse with friends and family. Kids can explore the grounds, respectfully, giving the adults time to settle in. I love their sandwiches on their Dutch crunch bread! And give it a go for brunch!
We went for a concert. It was a beautiful day outside in the middle of nowhere. Good sound, spacious, and intimate. A BBQ on the lawn. I'm vegan, so I do not get into that meat food, sorry..but, the kale salad was so delicious I could of eaten two of them.. Glad I'm going again this weekend for more music in the summer.
A Ride Through Time in Nicasio Took a ride out to Nicasio—a quiet little town that feels like it’s frozen in time. Just a small post office, some cows roaming the fields, and that classic white church that had us wondering if it was the one from November Rain. Whether it was or not, it had that same timeless vibe. The roads in? Absolutely made for motorcycles—winding, smooth, and surrounded by rolling green hills that beg you to slow down and take it all in. We landed at Rancho Nicasio for lunch, with outdoor seating tucked beneath towering redwoods and surrounded by wildflowers and open skies. Oysters and chowder were a must, and even the local cat came by for a visit—naturally, we shared a few bites. It was exactly what we needed. A little reset. Some quiet time. Just me and the wifey soaking it all in. Funny how a simple day like that can leave the biggest
What a great place to enjoy a dish of well prepared, good old-fashioned, meatloaf and mashed potatoes! No ketchup on top, real potatoes and yummy, well seasoned, fall veggies. AND a fresh fruit cobbler desert! So good!! Also enjoyed some great live music in a small venue. Couldn’t have asked for a better Saturday night!
The perfect dinner stop on the way home after spending a day enjoying nature in Point Reyes! We enjoyed fresh Tamales Bay oysters, melted Nicasio cheese, fish tacos, ribs, and mudpie. The space is spacious with a bar, indoor, and outdoor seating plus space for events. We also saw a schedule for live music! The service was excellent - very welcoming and warm without being too much.
We were out for a Sunday drive when we came upon Rancho Nicasio R&B. It is situated out in the middle of what appears to be nowhere. Actually, it is about the center of Marin county. There was an musical event going on outside, but we didn't have tickets. So, we decided to check out the bar. Looking at the animals on the wall, I thought this place must been around for 100 years, however, the original hotel burned in the 40s, so the bar is newer than I thought. We decided to try their Tomales Bay Oysters, and Calamari Fritti - - they were both yummy! We also had a drink from the bar. The bartender was friendly and gave us good service! And I had a fun time running around the bar taking pictures! If you're vegetarian, all the animals on the wall might freak you out. The bartender said that there used to be six times as many animals on the wall. It looked like people are having a great time at the event in the back of the property. You can check online to see what else is available is season. The tickets seemed pretty reasonable, too. If you live in the bay area, it is not that far of a drive. After having a bite at Rancho Nicasio we went for a hike!
the food was good. the highlight of my visit had to be the appetizers. my table got chicken wings and calamari they were both nicely seasoned and i asked for extra crispy on the wings. the sauce had great flavor and tasted homemade. i got the rancho burger which was okay. pretty plain burger and the fries were really greasy and ended up really upsetting my stomach but that’s person to person so id recommend giving this place a try!
I’ve stopped in Rancho Nicasio Restaurant and Bar a handful of times over the years, and the back outdoor area is awesome during the summer with live music and great food. I haven’t had dinner inside yet, but I have been to the bar several times, and it’s fantastic—lots of old records from bands on the walls and a great atmosphere. On my last visit, I had a beer and ordered some oysters on the half shell. When they came out, they were room temperature and had quite a few broken shells mixed in. Before I even said anything, the bartender noticed something wasn’t right and asked about it. I explained the situation, and she immediately took them back and didn’t charge me. I really appreciated the attentive service. This place has a great vibe, friendly staff, and is definitely worth checking out—especially in the summer!
Had a wonderful evening recently at Rancho Nicasio for a concert on the lawn. We had purchased tickets in advance and showed up just minutes before show time. We were able to get 2 seats at a table not far from the outdoor stage where the Sun Kings Acoustic Duo performed. These two artists played and sang as if Paul McCartney and John Lennon were right in front of us. It was a wonderful evening with really great music. We could have ordered dinner and arrived early but this time we just had beverages (and a desert). I ordered their house Sangri and my wife enjoyed a glass of wine. And we shared the Churro with ice cream. We had such a good time, when we got home we purchased tickets for another concert later this summer - and we plan on going early and having their BBQ Dinner.
Given there are not many places you can eat around this area, this restaurant is a fine option to satiate hunger. Surprisingly a lot of options to choose from and the food is good. Quick service, reasonably priced. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. However only a few designated parking spots are available, but lots of roadside parking.
I walked in at 3:59pm wasn’t acknowledged by the young man at the bar as I walked and saw the sign to wait to be seated. Then another female employee came out and from the back and walked into the office located next to the restrooms. She made eye contact and did not acknowledge me or checked in with me. The bartender then makes eye contact with me and nods but doesnt sit me. As I am typing this it has been 16 minutes I have been waiting. This my third time here and have had worse and worse service every time. It seems that the manager on duty every time is abigail
